I attended a financial seminar at Sperrys. also heard wonderful food and service . I was truly excited. We ate in the back party room and it was cold as ice. Had a sweater on and still uncomfortable/. I asked someone if they had ability to warm up and was told, "our servers love it like this - I'm sorry.". The music was that if the 80's ... KC and the Sunshine Band ...... The waiter never asked us for a drink order so I got up and went to the bar. I ordered 2 glasses of wine for husband and I. Red and White. I was asked where I was sitting and I told them. They told me to take a seat and in about 2 minutes a server brought our wine . long story short ... our meal was free because of the seminar. the wind was 7.00 a glass. SPERRYS decided to add in $3.00 tip to bring me the wine I had ordered. ITS NOT ABOUT the money. it's the principal. it's the idea that walking 20 feet is an added tip. I am a wonderful tipper because I waitressed all through college. tips is how I survived. i didn't notice this till I got home and called speaking to Matt the manager. He was really just too busy to hear .... he said the wine was delivered to help us out so we had 1 check only. when I explained we had no check because of the seminar and that's why I went to the bar .... he came up with another story. OH .... you were with a party more than 6 so automatic 20%. I keep trying to find a steakhouse that is all around a great environment. I have been to Sperry's for brunch and dinner prior to this last visit and never had a complaint. However this last time I went everything was exceptional. My steak was tender, seasoned well and juicy. The sides were also tasty and service was amazing. My only complaint was that I don't eat bananas to order the table side bananas foster (I really did think about ordering just for the experience lol). Nevertheless Sperry's is definitely a must try for a special occasion or date night. read more

Our staff came here for a business lunch with our president, who was in town for meetings. We were seated in a private room and our waiter gave us a brief overview and history of the restaurant. A few of us got the salad bar offering with our meals since we were told the salad bar is famous. Eh, it was okay but not what I would call outstanding. Members of our group ordered steaks, seafood and plenty of apps. Service was very good and so were the portions. We were offered desserts but passed on them. As an old-school steakhouse, it's pretty pricey but fine for business lunches if someone else is picking up the check. read more

Sperry's is our go-to restaurant for a great Sunday brunch. The crab cakes are FIRE and we enjoy most of the other entrees as well. Coupled with the wonderful salad bar, you can't miss no matter what you choose from the expansive menu. Today, we had a delicious salmon dish served along side sautéed spinach and hollandaise sauce. We also ordered the crab cake entree as usual. We finished the meal with a scrumptious espresso brownie topped with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. All in all, the meal was fabulous! read more

We went there last night to eat and took a friend with us and the food was delicious. I had the salmon Florentine, as well as another person, had it and the salad bar. There are two locations of this locally owned restaurant. The west side of Nashville and this Franklin location. This restaurant is our "Cheers" and has very consistent amazing steaks and seafood. They are known for their salad bar which can be a meal in itself. They have happy hour only in the bar area for food and drinks from 3 to 6 PM which if you don't make reservations you will not be able to get in. There are extra large rooms for events or smaller groups that want more privacy. Shrimp cocktail and barbecue shrimp and grits are two of our favorite appetizers to get. read more

Our server Ryan was incredibly attentive and detail oriented, especially for SUCH a crazy busy evening! We have been coming to this Sperry's for years now and I have never seen it so bustling. Excellent dinner spot! Took a large group of coworkers here for dinner on a late minute whim and it did not disappoint. The hostess was very accommodating in getting us in the door and our server was fantastic. The salad bar is a great addition and the creamy garlic dressing was really good. We ordered a number of different entrees including the ribeye special and prime rib. The prime rib was excellent and cooked perfectly. My colleague ordered the lamb chops which were prepared in a traditional Australian style (he's an Aussie) and he said they were amazing. For dessert, make sure to try the bananas foster which is prepared table side and a generous portion for two people. Overall it was a great experience... food was well prepared and seasoned... service was first class... and it was actually very conservatively priced. We ate for less than $85 per person which was inclusive of drinks, entrees, dessert, and gratuity! Definitely a spot worth checking out if you are staying south of Nashville any time soon! read more

We had another amazing date night at Sperry's. Nice wine while waiting a few minutes for the table. Their escargot is one of the best I've ever and the fillet tips with grits is more than just an appetizer and makes a great meal. We also enjoyed an incredible fillet mignon, and the complementary salad bar was a nice start after the appetizers. I had a phenomenal meal here earlier this week and cannot believe I'd waited this long to give Sperry's a try! My friends and I decided to share the filet tips and grits appetizer, and holy moly was it good! The grits were creamy and the filet bites were tender and delicious. This is probably my favorite thing of the night! I also started with the French Onion soup, which was absolutely perfect. Melted cheesy goodness on the top, filled with beefy broth and caramelized onions on the bottom, and an absolute must during the cold weather. I chose the bacon wrapped filet and crab cake for my entree, and oh. My. Gawd. THE CRABCAKE, y'all! It was allllll crab meat with no filler! Truly the best crab cake I've ever had in Nashville! The Dijon sauce on top really amped it up, too. The filet was perfectly cooked, tender, and melt in your mouth. My biggest tip would be to save room for the Bananas Foster dessert. Not only do they prepare it table side, but they cook it perfectly. The bananas were caramelized, the sauce was sweet and buttery with the hint of rum, and the cold vanilla ice cream was perfect. Went there last evening. On the plus side the food was great. How nice it was to have back the salad bar. The steaks, sides, drinks, dessert, all excellent. What a wonderful evening it could have been. On the negative side, the hostess was inept and our server Bradley was mediocre. I made reservations for 4 at 5:30. I notated on the reservation that one of our guests was 93 years old, possibly on a walker, hard of hearing, and I asked for a corner table away from high traffic, noisier areas. My wife and I intentionally got there 30 minutes early, planning to have a drink or 2 at the bar. We were told by the unfriendly hostess the bar had no seating available, so with the restaurant (at the time) being 90% empty, we asked if we could go ahead and sit at our table and order a drink. Hostess said nope, you can't do that. Go sit out in the waiting area. We did, and after waiting about 10 minutes while watching other people be seated, I asked the hostess, when can we have our table? She said in another 5 minutes. After waiting another 10 minutes, and it was getting close to 5:30, I got up and approached this hostess. She looked at me like she had never seen me before and said "Can I help you?". I said yes, WHEN CAN WE HAVE OUR TABLE? She said "Oh, you can have it now". She obviously had forgotten about us. She then seats us at a small table closest to the hostess stand in a high traffic area. I asked what's the point of making special requests if they are going to be ignored? She then went and spoke with a woman who appeared to be in charge, and this woman moved us to a better table. Perhaps Bradley had too many tables, but much lacked in service. We had to push dirty dishes and glasses to the edge of the table before he or someone else would finally take them away. The empty bread tray (1 small loaf, 4 people) sat there all evening, and we never had an offer for more bread. Slow to refill water and iced teas. Another server brought our food, and what a positive brief experience that was. We couldn't help but notice throughout the evening he was running circles around our server. While eating our entrées we noticed other servers bringing cracked pepper to tables who had their salads. Of course that was never offered to us. We ordered carrot cake for dessert, and instead of bringing 4 dessert plates, he sat the dessert in the middle of the table, still surrounded by dirty dishes and empty glasses, with 4 spoons. I wasn't really interested in trading saliva with our guests, so we let them eat the dessert. My wife used her credit card to pay the nearly $300 tab, her name clearly on the card, but our server brought it back to me. Bottom line, with the food so good, it could have been an outstanding evening. Instead, it wasn't, to the point of being somewhat stressful. I don't mind paying a premium price for a relaxing, stress-free experience. This was unacceptable. read more

A local in the Apple store that grew up in Franklin recommended this place to us. He told us, if you want genuinely fresh, authentic, wholesome Nashville food, come here. He warned me, it was a little funky and hasn't been updated since the 70's, but the food was still just as amazing. He wasn't wrong. This place also has a salad bar with purchase of an entree (and who doesn't love a great salad bar). I got steak frites- you could have cut the steak without a knife it was SO TENDER, so juicy, melted in your mouth. My friend got the salmon and the portion was HUGE.
