The doctors here are decent, but the store manager is unprofessional and made the whole experience uncomfortable. My calendar showed an appointment that morning, but I never received the usual check-in form. I called to confirm, and the manager said my appointment was on schedule--so I planned to come at 11 AM. Then he told me another customer was running overtime and suggested I come at 12:20 instead, which already seemed disorganized. When I arrived, the doctor was still busy, so I waited quietly. The manager asked me to browse frames, which was fine, but when I mentioned my wife would come to help pick one, he suddenly got annoyed and asked how long she'd take--while I was still waiting for my turn. He said he needed to leave for lunch and started lecturing me about remembering appointments, even though I had confirmed and showed up on time. I tried to stay polite, but he walked off and left me in the showroom. Overall, a strange and unpleasant experience. The doctors seem good, but the front-end management really needs improvement. Maybe the manager just had a bad day -- but when I came here to post my review, I noticed many others had similar experiences with the same manager being rude and gaslighting customers. Super professional, friendly staff, and a clean, modern office. The exam was thorough and everything went smoothly.

To preface, I've been here since I was a child and through what appeared to be many transitions (almost everytime I go its a different doctor) /remodeling. This is my family optometrist. I think the doctors here are very nice and the service is pretty efficient for eye exam. I like the doctors. I noted this time they did eye imaging and a full on eye exam with the camera and different angles, Shannon (i think is the doctor as its the name on my prescription) explained my mole/oil glands and the clinical effects which is good patient care, and she felt much thorough. However, I did feel taken aback by the treatment given because I did not buy new frames here this visit and made the clinic appear profit driven which undermines the nice mannerisms of the doctors. The frames here are expensive, they carry nice brands but its usually hard to find frames i genuinely feel good in (and this is something I feel would be impolite to disclose so I just don't say anything). Mainly, now that I'm working, my insurance is worse and doesn't cover frames. I had old frames from here and they requested $5 to replace a screw but then decided to not fix it, because it'd take too much time to find the screw. Ok, specialized lens stores may have more resources to fix it for free, so I just left. The next day I get a text about prescription being sent and after I noted receiving it, I quote a random " sure we cannot convince you to come support your local business. we hope to be here service our 80,000 cherished clients for another 26 years". Again, loyal client for over 20 years with a whole family here. Whoever communicates to clients should be more understanding of clients situations and boundaries without the client needing to explain. He could've prefaced with empathising with the client situation and then letting the client know that there are no insurance specials for fast frames $89 post eye exam rather than randomly opening with that or treating customers different because they won't buy luxury frames. So overall, the doctors are nice and the exams are comfortable, but service retail wise feels iffy. It'd be a nice bonus if free cleaning was offered during the eye exam (like some ultrasonic machine thing) and eyeglass adjustment for routine maintenance. read more

Unsafe Advice: Told to Wear Expired Contacts for Two Extra Days This office is not reliable for high prescriptions or urgent needs. I needed lenses immediately, but they couldn't provide them, and the service takes long because they simply do not have what I need -- not my fault. I asked to leave, but was told I'd still owe a $60 exam fee, so I continued reluctantly. Dr. Shannon Chen told me to wear my current expiring contacts for two extra days and then gave me five temporary lower-prescription dailies to hold me over until my trials arrived -- which felt unsafe coming from a professional. They lack high prescription trials and often claim other offices wouldn't have them -- but I've never had an issue getting same-day trials at other offices. Reception hardly picks up the phone, but called immediately when I asked about a refund. I do not recommend this office. read more

Worst experience I have ever had in an optometrist all because I did not want to purchase glasses from them. Staff was rude and refused to provide me with my prescription after I paid for my exam. The so called "manager" was equally as rude. Also they measured my current glasses for the prescription which ended up scratching them. Costco optometrist conveyed to reach out to any local optometry as they could not make high index with Astigmatism. I had search over internet , I was afraid initially with the reviews, but wanted to try as it was just 2 miles to my home. The entire staff from Tracy, Peter and others made the entire experience safe and easy. I took an appointment to save time and I had no wait time. The entire process hardly took anytime for me. The entire staff from Peter, Mindi, Dr. Gun, and others made the entire experience safe and comfortable. Make sure to fill out all the forms before going while making your appointment to save time. They also checked my temperature and had hand sanitizers to use before coming in. The entire process excluding filling out the forms was smooth. I didn't feel rushed nor was I sitting around waiting. Their selection of frames was also awesome in that they had three different distinct looks with three different frames ;-) Update: They delivered on time as promised. They send a text message letting you know when to pick up. They checked the fitting to make sure it was comfortable. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. So how am I enjoying my glasses after a week of studying and reading? A doctor gives an oath to provide the best care possible but this place will not. They will try to upsell you services you may not need. They add charges after the fact. I received a bill 6 months after my service and was told I owe more money stating my "insurance won't cover it." Even though they assured me they would. When I tried to complain, I was treated very rudely. Look at all the other negative reviews. It's not a coincidence. There are many great doctors in Irvine. I advise that you go somewhere else. I will be filing a complaint with the Medical Board of California. Go see for yourself. Apparently I "threatened" them...because I asked for a refund if I did not get a timeframe for when I would receive my glasses. After my family and I got our eye exam on June 30, picked out our glasspaid, we never received any paperwork stating when our glasses are expected to come in. We were just told that they would text us when the glasses come in. The only receipts I received were the receipts from my debit payment going through. My family received their glasses JULY 18. When we picked the glasses up, I asked if they knew when my glasses will be coming in. The rude Asian guy said, "If you received only three texts then only three glasses came in." I understand, but I asked if he had an idea when mine would come in. That was not the response I expected, and it did not answer my question. I called them after I got off work yesterday. It has been more than a week since I picked up my family's glasses. I received a text message (as you will read below) and responded to the message accordingly because the text said "for a faster response". After waiting almost two hours I text them again around an hour before closing. I decided to head to the store since it's only a few minutes from my place. By the time I got there I saw the optometrist leave. I caught two workers off guard when I walked in. I stated my name. I told them I had been calling them and texting them to see if I can get a response on the timeframe for when my glasses will come in. I wanted to request a refund IF I DID NOT GET A TIMEFRAME for when my glasses would come in. Apparently they came in that day. ...and the texts I received the following day!!! read more

And they have really stylish frames that were covered 100% by my insurance. And even the styles that weren't covered, were Very reasonably priced.
