Amazing experience I have to share. We're also in the eyecare business offering medical and surgical specialty eyecare services. We had a job gone wrong (third party lab damaged the Patient Owned Frames). The usual standard operating procedure would be to ask the patient to purchase new frames or cancel the lab orders. I had a long shot idea. I reached out to the frame's creator, European Optical, seeking their expertise. From the moment I called, Debbie, the staff on the phone was professional and helpful. "Don't let the lab do the repair, send the frames to us and we'll see what we can do." Astrid, the owner and the creator behind the EO by Astrid frames, worked her magic above and beyond my expectations. While most eyecare practice providers prefer not to relens Patient Owned Frames due to accidental breakage that may happen, I am thankful that the incident gave me an opportunity to connect with some lovely humans and the most unique collection of eyewear in Laguna Beach. read more

Always helpful and a great selection of fun frames. I think they seem to know me by now. They aren't afraid to offer honest opinions while you're trying to choose a pair read more

top flight experts in creative eye wear; no wonder customers come from afar - I had a broken temple and in 10 minutes I was out the door with a new one - they stand behind their products read more

I have been purchasing my eyeglasses from European Optical for the past 6 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Their staff is fantastic. Most recently I worked with Dawn and the owner Astrid - none finer. Everyone there is patient, professional and by all means they want each client to be "excited" with their purchase. Very low key - never any pressure to buy. They are at the pinnacle in their profession & their customers come first - without question. Look at all of the other reviews, every single review is a glowing 5 Star. When I grab a handful of glasses & try them on and ask one of their staff - "what do you think & why" they are totally honest. And I need & appreciate that honesty. I have purchased 3 pairs of eyewear from E/O in past couple years & I get compliments galore. No one has the selection they have. The colors, style , shapes - they have beautiful eyewear there. I want my glasses to be "special" & that's exactly what Astrid & her talented "team" offer at a very fair & competitive price. read more

European Optical has the most complete line of truly quality frames, a top laboratory technician and thoughtful, professional fitting. I travel an hour from North San Diego to get this level of quality. After considering a variety of options, I chose a pair of JF Rey progressive transition lenses. I'm very picky about lenses and these were made perfectly for distance, home, and occasional reading. These are the best glasses I have ever had. (If you study progressive options you will see there is a trade-off between a wider viewing area and a larger reading area. I use computer glasses for my computer and reading glasses for extensive reading.) The frames you will find here are chosen to represent the best artistic ability in the industry. Don't be fooled by the chain with the famous logo placed on cheap Chinese frames. European Optical staff gave me options from bold to stylish. I chose stylish which also had a perfect viewing area for my prescription. They are light weight. I'll be back to shop for other glasses when I have different needs. What's the right frame for a tradeshow or concert? Yet to be seen. [For years I stuck with that large chain that is buying up production to throttle the industry. It didn't matter what I spent. Unavoidable collaboration between the Exam and Lenses made it hard to get professional outcomes.] Do yourself a favor and use a vendor like this that is dedicated to staying in one job and industry for life. You deserve good eyesight and good care. I'm replacing my previous review because it had more typos and rambled more than this one. read more

Extraordinary selection and great skills matching face to frames Have come back repeatedly over the years and they never disappoint

Staff was very friendly and offered several suggestions, despite having stated my own preferences. Associates were very knowledgeable of every product they offered and even gave recommendations that were most favored by locals and/or fan favorites. Great spot in Laguna! European Optical - European Optical! - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Laguna Beach, California

The ladies at EO far exceeded my expectations and did a last minute lens change for me with same day pickup. So happy. Highly recommend

This shop is great and all of the associates are very helpful and kind and especially patient (nice for people like me who like to explore and take their time). I discovered the shop after asking a local where he bought his very cool glasses. He informed me that they were EO by Astrid, designed by a local eyeglass designer, Astrid, and could be found at European Optical in town. Upon finding this out, I checked out the shop... I was amazed by the variety of eyeglasses, but more so by the EO by Astrid collection. I explored through each unique pair for about two hours until I found the ones for me. Randi, Astrid, and Mario offered me plenty of time to find them with no pressure that you may feel at other shops. Astrid reassured me to sleep on my decision and that they would keep the pair aside for me when I wanted to purchase them. I came back from a business trip a week later and there they were, set aside for me. Woohoo! Let's do this! I ordered transition lenses with an anti glare coating and scratch resistant protection. Needless to say, I am in love with my glasses and I am so happy I found this shop. Can't wait for my next pair of EO by Astrid :) Also, upon purchase of your glasses you receive a cool ring made of the same material the glasses are composed of! If you chose to buy extras, the proceeds are donated to a local homeless organization. Love it !! "Life's too short to wear boring glasses". read more

I never write reviews, so please know they must be really special. I am an orthopedic surgeon in Las Vegas. I spent the weekend in Laguna and wandered into this shop. I happen to be a glasses fanatic and own over 75 pairs. Upon seeing their inventory, I immediately fell in love with multiple pairs. Their product is actually absolutely amazing including having JMM's. But most importantly is their service. I don't know the name of the two people that took care of me, but they were absolutely incredible. knowing I was going to Italy to lecture in 4 days. They literally got my progressive prescription done and UPS'd to me within Two days. They were 100% honest, ethical, and completely customer service oriented. I don't think I've ever been more pleased with the interaction that I had from beginning to end. Congratulations on being such a great company with great quality and great people! I look forward to growing my collection with the help this amazing company. Russell Nevins, M.D. read more

Great selection of loads of different styles. At my optometrist or lens crafters all of the glasses seem the same but European Optical has such great variety; plus they do their own lenses so it doesn't take two weeks to get your glasses back read more

A contact commercial years ago summed it up for me quite succinctly. "I have special eyes!" "Special" in this case means I have REALLY bad eyesight, nearsightedness so extreme, I can quite literally only see things 3 inches in front of my face. So bad, in fact, my prescription isn't the sort of prescription opticians have on hand. So, when I lost my only pair of glasses in the ocean on the first day of my daughter's first vacation ever, I was a complete wreck. In know that even in the best case scenario, it would take several days to get any sort of real replacement. In the desperate flurry of calls that came, someone recommended European Optical to my family and I. They had a wider range of prescription lenses than most, we were told. Even then, I was just hoping -5.50 lenses for my -7.25/-7.50 eyes and I thought "I'll be grateful if I can at least see WHO I'm talking to" but knew better than to expect/hope for more than that. There are some fairy godmothers/guardian angels working at this store. Not only did they help me find some AMAZING new frames which suit me better than the ones I lost (seriously, I have never loved glasses frames this much before), but they also managed to dig up -7.00 lenses from somewhere in the back. They treated me with compassion and understanding. Turning one of my more traumatic life experiences into something unexpectedly magical and memorable. Cannot recommend this establishment enough, awesome, awesome, awesome. read more

I am so pleased I started buying my frames and lenses from Astrid and her European Optical staff about 8 years ago. They are professional, conscientious, smart and fun and enjoyable to work with in the process. They have helped make my vision better and my glasses 'look' more appealing. very excellent selection in this shop. Outstanding. I love the Matisse frames (hand painted, very colorful, unique) that I can only find here. Their service is optimal, which, to me, means that they'll let you look around without hovering and give plenty of time to try on as many frames as you need to. When I've needed help, I've never had to wait. There is no hard sell. They are very kind. In May 2015 I'd recently had a family upheaval and was also feeling shaky after a bout of strep throat. My sister persuaded me to go with her to get new frames. I chose new ones, but when I picked them up I realized I'd ordered them much too large for comfy constant use. $600 down the drain, I figured, which is more than I can afford. Two weeks ago I returned after saving up the funds again. The pair I chose (sanely, this time) is perfect. When I mentioned that I'd never been able to wear the pair from May, they instantly offered to switch that pair to RX sunglasses at no charge. So, now I have two current pair of Matisse frames eyeglasses, regular and sun. I'm over the moon. Their selection is varied and includes frames you'd have to travel to a big city for. read more

I just bought a pair of sunglasses, that at age 71, are the cutest, most stylish sunglasses I have ever owned. I left the store beaming. Dawn and Astrid don't sell you sunglasses, they present them. No pressure, just as much or as little help as you like. I dislike shopping with a passion, but EO was a total exception. Don't buy any sunglasses until checking this place out. The owner, Astrid, makes her own line of sunglasses. The shop is gorgeous, an artistic dream. Thank you ladies for presenting these products to the community. Parking was simple too. Oh, and you also get a ring, a sunglass case, a wipe for your glasses, and a cute little zipper bag. read more

I can't say enough about European Optical in that if you stop in to their boutique I doubt that you will go anywhere else to purchase your eyewear. I own a handful of their glasses and each are unique and simply gorgeous. I have not seen anything in SoCal to match what they offer. I get so many compliments on their pieces. Astrid is the owner and she designs her own line of stunning frames. In my case the last two pairs have been from European designers and the style and colors truly "pop". What may surprise you is the fact that their eyewear is very fairly priced. Don't let the LB zip code scare you away cost-wise. Everything is done right there at their shop and nothing is shipped elsewhere to get finished. Whether you are working with Astrid or one of her associates they want your purchase to be "right for you". There is absolutely no pressure to buy. EO has honest Professional staff, with absolutely stunning Products at a Price that is surprisingly reasonable. You will not be disappointed. read more

I dropped my only pair of sunglasses while at K'ya (right across the street) -- a lens flew out and the rim was bent. So sad. When I walked outside, I noticed European Optical and figured I'd show them the damage. The woman who greeted me immediately whisked away to her tools and fixed everything, good as new, right there. Thank you! P.S. I could tell the atmosphere was very nice with a pretty cool selection of frames to boot. Maybe it's time to update mine... read more

Many months after I purchased my beautiful glasses, I had an ophthalmological exam and discovered that the optometrist who wrote my prescription had made a mistake. European Optical graciously made new lenses for me. The variety of frames and the professionalism of the staff can't be beat. Thank you for going "over and aboard" to assist me. I highly recommend that you stop by, if you're having a Laguna Beach afternoon, to see the unusual frames... even if you're not specifically looking for glasses. read more

I've been getting glasses from these folks for as long as I've needed them (over 30 years at this point) and these folks are, without doubt, the best around. The attention to customers and service are unparalleled. They even put up with me and put my prescription in all these vintage frames I find at thrift shops (which is non-trivial!). Their selection of current designs in phenomenal and Astrid's new line frames are simply awesome. I'm a life long customer and would never consider another place to get glasses. Sure, I could get cheaper frames and lenses from China but I'd much rather give my hard earned money to the crew at European Optical. So should you. read more

Don't miss this place!!! Don't be fooled and think that because it's in Laguna Beach that it's too pricey!!!! that is not the case. I stopped in here months ago to have glasses repaired-while I was here Astrid told me that my frustrations about my trifocal glasses were due to the fact that the lens was too small. so here I am today-needing all new glasses and instead of it wing difficult-it was so easy--Astrid picked out all of the frames and they are PERFECT!!!!!! I have been trying on frames for weeks and couldn't get the right fit --it took her 3 minutes. She also suggested that I get a specific pair for sailing so that I can have the appropriate protection--I don't like spending $$--I have no problem with the check I wrote.
