Nice office/storefront with plenty of parking. Dr. Kobayashi is very intelligent, personable and helpful. Her assistant, Cristian, is very nice and helpful as well. My visit was excellent on all counts. This office uses an automated phoropter, which means for the test where you're asked to identify letters on an eye chart, the optometrist does not need to manually change lenses, the machine does it automatically and quickly. So, it's much easier to see the difference between the two lenses, than when it's done manually. I left feeling like I had a more accurate prescription than the last one I got a few years ago. read more

Dr. K is there for me. First she told me to get glasses for driving. I thought " I am fine", but got them anyway. The other night I put them on since they were in the car. Oh my goodness! You never know what you don't really see until you can see! Second, I recently found a bubble on my eye and reached out in a panic. She replied with a calming explanation and gave me three options to heal it. After sending in a prescription for me I later learned that she was on vacation! I live in LA and drive here to get optometry services because of the quality of care, affordability and skills that these doctors have. Both Dr. Kobayashi and Dr Pennino are both really good at what they do and Christian, who runs the front desk is super accommodating. They have another facility near my home that I go to for regular visits, but this Dana Point location features IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment for dry eye. I have suffered from Meibomian gland dysfunction, styes and blepharitis (nasty as it sounds) for years without a solution. They introduced me to IPL and encouraged me to research what it is and if there were any places closer to me that could do it. I like that they didnt oversell or push it on me. There is ample research on IPL and I now know it works. The places in LA were so much more expensive and I found the staff to be pretty cold. No thank you. I have had so much relief from dry eye after only a couple of sessions. I look at the photos of myself prior to the treatment and I just looked dead in the eyes. I look and feel great now. I trust these people with my eyes and highly recommend it for any optometry services. Its also located in a nice outdoor shopping center that has a killer vegan joint (Eden), a Starbucks and other convenient places to grab a bite or coffee before or after a visit. read more
