After my first consultation, I was confident that I was in good hands; and within two weeks I was in the operating room after being cleared by both the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist for PRK--which is a bit more safe but tedious in recovery compared to LASIK. The entire staff are very accommodating, meticulous and pleasant to talk to. I called in countless times before committing and always had my questions thoroughly answered by Marvin. Leslie from the front desk always makes me feel at home when I step into the institute. I never felt pressured by Dr. Pham or Dr. Huynh to proceed with treatment, even though they took an abundance of tests on my eyes and clearly explained the risks and rewards of PRK--all before I even paid! I remember clearly when Dr. Pham told me, "Even if you don't get LASIK/PRK with us, I want you to leave this institute knowing to stop rubbing your eyes." When I went in for a consult, I was unfortunately not a good candidate for LASIK. Dr. Feinerman suggested another procedure called EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) that I was a good fit for. Despite the higher cost compared to LASIK, I was totally on board. I scheduled my surgery appointment afterwards and I was given instructions on how to prepare for the procedure (I had to put eye drops in beforehand). The surgery center Dr. Feinerman used was in Tustin (Barranca Surgery Center). I had a very early appointment and I didn't have to wait too long. The procedure took what felt like 10 minutes, but could have been way longer (the anesthesia worked like a charm!). I had my sister drive me home, there is no way you should try to drive yourself home after getting this done!! Immediately after the surgery, my vision had a noticeable improvement, with sensitivity to light. Over the next 3 months, my vision stabilized and I don't have dry eyes as often anymore. I have been to UC Eye Institute in Irvine and UCSD in La Jolla many times since the very last time I saw Dr. Tracy. Please do not trust him with your vision. He ruined my life!!!! I am convinced that with doctor's knowledge and experience he will fix it or get you the best referral to treat your vision issues. The first person in our family to make contact with the doctor was my brother Chris, when during mountain bike riding accident he experienced a handful of coarse sand launched into his eyes. The pain was immense and he completely lost vision in one eye, driving with one eye he reached the Dr. Spaeths office, and chris was very happy that all the coarse sand was cleaned off his contact lenses and the sclera and he recovered all his vision back. My eye adventure was much more dangerous, as one morning I woke up with a cobweb floater taking up 33% of my vision, urgent care said it was nothing to worry about and should go away soon, well the floater was still there several days later, so listening to my brothers recommendation I made an appointment with Dr. Spaeth's office asap, turns out i had a detached retina and needed immediate surgery to save the vision in my eye. Heavy? You better believe it, and Dr Spaeth diagnosed the situation correctly and he took immediate action and made a call and got me an appointment at the best ophthalmology center in the country ( just the opinion of many) in Orange California. Been thinking about getting LASIK and I finally decided to get it done after extensive research. I…read morechose this place based on positive reviews here on yelp and responsiveness during my initial inquiries. First, I scheduled a virtual consult on a Friday which took about 15minutes. The staff was able to answer majority of my questions. After which, I went on a Tuesday to have the in-person check up and scans done. I went to determine if I was a candidate for PRK (4-day recovery) or LASIK (1-day recovery). Shelly was the one who assisted me. Then my surgery was scheduled that Friday. I arrived at 12:30pm as schedule. The scans were redone for accuracy. The LASIK procedure was done at around 2pm and lasted for approximately 15mins. They give you valium 30minutes before and Xanax after to help you sleep. The process I would say is 5/10 in terms of pain. There's a pressure in your eye then the laser. After the procedure, there's a lot of burning's sensation and it's difficult to open your eyes. That's why they recommend to sleep for at least 6 hours to give your eyes a rest and recover. They give you eye shields and glasses and there will be eye medications that you need to instill for 7days and eye drops for 3 months. You need to come back the following day for a follow up. The following morning, I am able to see clearly but a little bit cloudy. Both doctors were nice and have a great bedside manner. Overall, I highly recommend this place for LASIK. They do have payment options, one of is care credit, 18months zero interest.
