Arrived at my new found place to get my eyes checked as well has having a great casual and medical conversation. Dr Unal spent a good amount of time dialing in my prescription which is hard to do. I've bought a pair of glasses every year and tossed out 8 of the last 10 pairs because of how specific I am with my vision. She is not my regular eye doctor, but when my doctor was not available and I had a corneal abrasion she recommended today's vision and they were able to help me right away. Dr. Unal is amazing. My wife and I have been seeing her for several years. She's extremely patient and knowledgeable.

This was the single most thorough and educational appointment, and I'm so pleased I'm leaving a same day review. My spouse called yesterday and was able to get a next-day appointment, important because we are losing health insurance at the end of this month. Upon entering we were both greeted by someone at the counter that turned out to be the doctor and after getting all the insurance info, she took us to a room for the exam. Somehow with all the eye doctors we've been to over the years, no one has tested for color blindness or depth perception! So that was cool to see done. While waiting for the eye drops to do their thing, she took us to look over their glasses selection, and helped my partner pick out a pair. Truly appreciated that she gave her honest opinions and noted specifically what parts were flattering or not so much. Our benefits were clearly outlined and she provided information about the various options along with her opinions about what would work best. During the appointment the doctor explained every step, as well as extra tidbits of information that none of our previous doctors have shared. She seems extremely knowledgeable as well as interested in what she's doing! At no point were we rushed or talked down to, and her mannerisms were extremely polite. Excellent in every way. Dr Unal is very thorough, attentive, and informative. Better than any other ophthalmologist I've ever visited. She has a calm, friendly manner. She's skilled and knowledgeable. I mentioned a minor issue with my eyes, and she found and explained its cause. Nobody else has ever even looked for this. She explained my prescription, and how it had changes since my last examination. Marlene then helped me pick frames and lenses, and navigate the weirdness of my insurance plan. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She took the time to really listen to what I wanted, and then found exactly that. She didn't try to push me towards a more expensive choice. I have worn glasses for 50 years. I thought I was impressed with how far technology had come with Optometry by how quickly the eye exams had come. I felt having tired eyes at the end of the day was just my age. Dr. Unal has changed my view point completely. This was my first time visiting and it will definitely not be my last! I was having some issues with my eyes being irritated and decided to visit Today's Vision. I read great reviews about Dr. Unal online and the optometry is super close to my home, so those were my 2 main determining factors in choosing Today's Vision. I was able to easily make an appointment by phone and address my situation with my eyes. A time was quickly set and I was eager to get my eyes checked out to see what the issue was. From walking into the door and meeting Dr. Unal, to the actual eye exam, it was a great experience. Not only was Dr. Unal professional, welcoming, and easy to talk to, she was also very informative and listened to the concerns. I did not feel rushed and the whole visit was very comfortable and stress-free. I went back today for a check up and the eye drops she prescribed to me are working wonderfully and I'm on a fast road to recovery. Customer Service at its best! The first time I came to Today's Vision was few months back when this was the only optometry shop in Laguna Niguel that carries Tiffany & Co. frames. To my surprise the selection of frames (between regular glasses and sun glasses) was much larger than most individually owned optometry shops. Dr. Unal was very pleasant and professional with extensive knowledge and was a pleasure to work with from the beginning. I purchased the Tiffany & Co. glasses and actually came back to have my Oakley lenses replaced as well. All went well and I was happy with my experience. Unfortunately the Tiffany & Co. frames (unlike their jewelry I own) are poor quality and would not really hold their shape, were too stiff and I kept on coming back to have these adjusted in Today's Vision as well as had to have the lenses replaced since the coating on them made them dirty all the time to the point that I had to clean them every 30 minutes even in meetings- very frustrating. Dr. Unal was very patient and kept on working with me to get this resolved so I can actually use these glasses. Unfortunately the last time I wore them they gave me such a headache as the frames were digging into my head and I finally said (this was only after wearing them handful of times) that I cannot wear these anymore. I contacted Dr. Unal and asked for suggestions. She offered to absorb the cost of new lenses as long as I pay the difference for a new frame. Very good business decision but also very honorable thing to do- obviously she cares about her customers and wants to build a good reputation. She absolutely did not have to do that and I really appreciate her going out of her way and absorbing the extra cost as I could have been stuck with new glasses I would never use. This to me is customer service 1:1 and to me that shows true caring about repeat business. From here on I will be coming back to Dr. Unal for any new frame purchases or lens replacements. I had previously gone to LensCrafters and felt maybe a "little" rushed, so read the great reviews for Dr. Unal at Today's Vision and decided to get a second opinion. Personally - I had a very negative experience there. At LensCrafters they said that while my insurance did cover having my eyes dilated, based on my age and history - dilation was not really required or necessary. Dr. Unal strongly encouraged me to have my Eyes Dilated for the additional examination. I asked her specifically if it would impede my ability to drive home and she said "no". Well - all I can say is - I couldn't have had a worse reaction to the dilation. I couldn't even walk outside with sunglasses without being blinded. There was no way I could see, much less drive home. I had to take an Uber. Even with this vision impairment - she still wanted me to sign for the Co-Pay for my visit - even though I told her I could not read the bill, and due to the headache from the dilation - did not feel comfortable signing. To her credit - she did relent and waited until my wife showed up an hour later to pick me up ( my wife had to leave work to do this ) - and then she made my wife sign the credit card slip. Dr. Unal might be a very good optometrist and good for other patients. However - for me - I felt she upsold me to have my pupils dilated simply because it was covered by insurance ( even though a week earlier LensCrafters told me I did not need this test - and I told her this ). And I was very disappointed and even concerned that she was so focused on getting paid while I was suffering tremendous headaches and side-effects from the pupil dilation she recommended and told me would not have negative side effects. *After the fact - she tried to say that there are a very small percentage of people who have a very negative reaction to this procedure - but I would have appreciated that disclosure before the procedure, not after. read more

Today, my wife and I visited the office's of Asuman Unal O.D. This was my first visit as my wife has been a patient for several years. I recommend Dr. Unal, if you are looking to find an optometrist who truly spends the time to understand you as a patient. The entire experience was first class from the moment we walked in until we left. I was impressed from the moment we entered the office. Dr. Unal's assistant greeted us by name, which was very pleasant and made me feel welcome. It is difficult to change optometrists and I had been a patient of my last optometrist for many years. During my exam, Dr. Unal explained every procedure and was eager to answer all my questions; her level of knowledge was impressive. She has state-of-art equipment and technology. I never liked the standard glaucoma test with the air your eyes; Dr. Unal explained that she uses a newer technology, which I found much more pleasant! I have been wearing glasses for many years and I have tried a variety of providers. I used Lenscrafters once and felt rushed by the technicians and the entire process. My experience at Today's Vision was well paced, with a great deal of personal care provided to both my wife and me. In addition to the exam, I purchased a new pair of glasses. Dr. Unal is my whole family's favorite doctor (of any specialty! We wish she could be our primary care doctor!). We followed her to her new practice from her previous one because she's just that wonderful. I'm disabled and she's extremely accommodating and the office is very accessible. She's kind, compassionate, listens well, and makes sure to take in your entire health and medication history and how it may affect your vision.
