I had a pleasant experience at Aliso Optometry recently. Simple quick forms to fill out during check-in, seen right away without any waiting or running into other patients whatsoever. Quiet, efficient, and frustration free. I'm used to having to wait for quite a bit even when arriving to appointments early and on time. Not so at this location. Can't recommend them enough. Additionally, parking is free and the building itself is very beautiful. I just wished some of the equipments were wiped down as my face had to touch directly on it. It was my first time here a few weeks ago. I had an eye exam for contacts and glasses. Everyone was super friendly. They explained everything really well. They don't have a huge selection of frames, but they do have good selection of designer frames. Although I only step foot in this office once a year for my annual, I've sent my family and some friends over to Aliso Optometry and they all love it here. Eye exams are one of those things I dread. The eye drops to dilate your eyes is my number one enemy. I highly recommend Dr. David Chu & his assistant Carly. I never have to wait longer than 10 minutes to be seen. Dr. Chu always does a great job explaining the results of those little pre-test things you have to do (Red barn & click if you see a light). He's quick with those darn eye drops & he's very thorough and goes over the pictures of your eyes. The front office staff is very efficient. I've been with these guys ever since I was a kid and they still took Medi-Cal. They don't anymore, but I went back to them the moment I got VSP through my employer just because of how reliable their office is. It's been a few years between my last visit to my most recent one, about a week ago, so of course there were some new faces and I saw a new doctor, but she was able to address the issues I had with my prescription. I went in for a glasses eye exam only and did not recently order frames from them, so I can only speak for that. Still, for some reason the optometrists can't decide on a good prescription for my left eye, and this doctor was able to sit down and explain to me why there might be discrepancies in the prescription and chose a good one based off of my history. I ordered glasses independently, and so far this doctor was right and really knows her stuff! They use "gold standard" techniques, such as contact tonometry over non-contact tonometry, and I feel like the numbing eye drops they used wore off really quickly. If you're in the area and you have the insurance, this is YOUR optometrist. read more

A very nice optometry office. Doctors are knowledgeable and patient. The office staff is always welcoming. It is easy to get appointments within few weeks. The office has good selection of frames; carrying designer brands such as dior. Kate spade, tory burch, rayban, oakley, as well as some cheaper ones. The frames start at mid 100s and can go all the way up to 400-500$. I had issues with my progressive glasses and they sent them for adjustment. We waited only 2 minutes to be brought back once we arrived. They performed every test efficiently. They are personable, cheerful and patient. I am infamous for asking a lot of detailed questions, not to be irritating, I just really like to know all the info. No one seemed irritated, they just answered me thoroughly and cheerfully. She was very insightful, listened to all my questions that I've asked other optometrists only to not get a response or they just ignored my questions. I called into Aliso Optometry to order prescription sunglasses I put on hold 6 months ago. The receptionist was very kind and gave me a quote right over the phone with my options. I had to consult my husband and opted to call back in. I left a message during their lunch hours and received a call right back from Savannah R. She was able to run a quote on my secondary insurance and was very patient as I decided what insurance, lens (standard or polarized), coating and materials I wanted. Not to mention I was only on a 15 minute break at work talking to her and txting my husband to get the okay. I even had her add an anti scratch and then change it. Basically I called in 4 times made her charge my card 3 different times and email my invoice twice because of a change. She was so kind and patient the whole time. I just needed to acknowledge her! So I wanted to rate this place higher because the doctors are amazing.... but the new office staff is ran by a bunch of sorority girls. They will not call you back, I have left numerous voicemails and called many times to schedule an appointment for my annual eye exam and I never received any calls back. I'm not even sure if the phones are working because I have no clue why I wouldn't get a call back to a voicemail when all I wanted to do was make an appointment. The Dr was the biggest treat in this office! Amazing bedside manner, my 11 year old son went in before me and he loved her as well. She was incredibly thorough and informative. The front desk was polite but not exactly friendly, they were having personal conversations and when it came time to choose my glasses I did that myself no one asked if I needed help. I left and was not told how I would find out if they were ready or not. Called this morning after 8 business days and Lauren the office manager was gracious enough to call the lab for me. My suggestion is you follow up with patients after they spend time and money at your practice. Once that happens 5 stars! read more

I have mixed feelings about Aliso Optometry. I have been a patient here for many years (even before they moved). I come in once every year for an eye exam and every year they are late. Shame on me for allowing them to get away with this without protest. For the most part, I really enjoy the patient care. I feel like I receive a thorough examination using a lot of impressive machines. The doctor comes in, inspects my eyes, runs some more tests, makes inquiries about my health, and even goes over my results with me in person. All of that is good. But I just feel that there's something very wrong when a patient is forced to wait a half-hour for an appointment, especially when they made it a year in advance. Even after the first round of examinations are done you sit in the exam room and wait again for the doctor to show up. Then maybe you have 10 minutes with the doctor before one of the staff opens the door while the exam is still in process so she can usher the doctor to the next patient. So is the quality of the care good? Yes, once you get it, but unless you require help for a very specific problem that requires special expertise, maybe you should consider going to someplace that's less busy or at least knows how to honor appointment times. read more

I went online and ordered contacts to save a little money, and guess what I ordered the wrong prescription. When I called the office and told them what I did they went the extra mile and provided 10 days of contacts at no additional charge to tide me over till my correct prescription arrives (which I now ordered through them). Typically, I hate the eye doctor appointments as it is a reminder that I am becoming rapidly more blind. But I have to say. Aliso optometry is by FAR the absolute best eye doctor appointment I have ever had. I called they booked me an appointment, I walked in and was almost Instantly seen. DR CHU is the absolute best eye doctor I've ever encountered. He is an absolute perfectionist and took his time to make sure I understood all of my options and letting me know what he recommended. I left with a better understanding of my eyes that I had never had before. The customer service I received from the office manager Lauren and all of the staff on my arrival was better than any I've gotten from any store, restaurant or service I've had in years. Been here a couple times based on referral from family members who also use Doctor Chu. I sought out Aliso Optometry at first for some much needed glasses. After making a phone appointment, and arriving at that time, I was promptly and thoroughly given an exam. Dr. Chu used all sorts of the latest stuff that were never used at previous Optometries. Luckily I checked out with a clean bill of eye health, other than the obvious fact that I'm nearly legally blind. My gf can attest to that lol. Overall, the service was fantastic and everyone was really nice and informative throughout the whole process. The pricing was very competitive compared to my past history and you can expect to get an honest quality exam, service, product here. I had an appointment for an eye exam yesterday with Dr. Ali- the office is SUPER clean and very pretty, the equipment is modern and up to date, the staff is absolutely lovely, and Dr. Ali was fantastic! I have a weird phobia of things touching my eyes and she totally understood and made me feel completely comfortable. The exam was very quick and I felt like she did an amazing job at explaining everything to me. They were not pushy at all when it was time for me to buy glasses, they explained to me their prices and when I politely declined and asked for a prescription, they were more than happy to measure my PD and give me a prescription, letting me know I could come back any time without an appointment if I wanted to get glasses from them!! Very pleased with this office. It's in a great location, very clean and well staffed. Dr. Chu is friendly and patient. He took time to fit me for contacts and I am definitely a hard case because most contacts don't work for me! His staff recommended that I purchase a year's worth of contacts so that I could get a rebate, which I did. Even though a year's worth was out of my budget, I figured the rebate would make up for it. Turns out the rebate was for about half of what they told me, so I was pretty upset and sent a letter to the office. The customer service was AWESOME! They responded promptly to apologize for the mistake and even sent me a check to make up the difference. Honestly, you can't ask for more than that when it comes to customer service. She's extremely thorough in her examination, highly intelligent and accommodating, very precise and professional, and oh so cordial! I honestly feel like I found a diamond in the rough - SoCal is packed with Optometrists, and Dr. Cheung has differentiated herself with a visible passion for what she does, and a genuine love for people! I'm definitely recommending friends and family! (The Ambiance): Warm, inviting, professional, and friendly. The staff were so friendly and well informed! In all earnest, I'm pretty picky when it comes to choosing the right glasses. Whether I'm in front of a computer, or out in the sun, they were able to answer ALL my questions, even providing me with some recommendations. (I ended up purchasing a couple pairs of glasses based on their recommendations, and I'm exceedingly satisfied). My son and I went to see Dr. Prickett earlier in the week and then again today. I must say my experience has NOT been good, at all. Those patients think she is great, hear me out here. Our first appointment went semi-normal: polite staff, a bit slow but that's fine. We went through a series of eye tests with the Autorefractor, Fundus Camera and Pentacam. I was surprised that they never asked to check our old spectacles. Then we went to see Dr. Prickett. She seems nice and did the test with the Phoropter. She said my son, who turned 18, has no big change on his eyesight and neither are mine. While I was in the room, my son left to choose spectacle frames. By the time I was done, I went out to join my son to look for a suitable frame. When I found out the prices, I told the staff that I will shop around first. Then I asked for a copy of our RX. When we got home, I compared the new RX with our old ones, my son's one was from Japan a mere 6 months ago and mine was from a reputable eye-surgery clinic in Singapore 2 years ago. Our RX went up in a VERY strange way. My son's reading went from -1.75 for both eyes to -2.0 and -2.25, while mine went from -0.25 and -0.75 to -1.0 and -1.5. What was even stranger is that I always have astigmatism in my whole life and suddenly the readings from -0.75 and -0.5 from 2 years ago went to -0.25 to none on the left eye. I thought that was REALLY bizarre. So I asked to see Dr. Prickett again. At the 2nd meeting, I explained my concerns with the numbers being off for my son and me, especially for my missing astigmatism. Dr. Prickett's team did another test with the Autorefractor and then she did a short Phoropter test. I gave her more feedback during the Phoropter test. In the end, she said her measurements were correct although there is slight astigmatism on the left eye which she found NONE before, and she is willing to reduce the numbers a bit for my son if that suits me. Now, I am pretty baffled but respecting that she is the doctor and not me, so I told her to reduce my son's -2.25 to -2.0 as I am concerned w the potential error. Meanwhile, my numbers stay the same except an added -0.25 on astigmatism w AXIS at 125. My overall feedback? I don't think we had a good optometrist. I understand how doctors or any professionals can get defensive when told their assessments are incorrect, as I am a professional myself. But when a patient tells you something is not right, the doctor ought to take additional cautions during any re-tests or should conduct additional tests to validate his/her initial findings. It is known in the industry that Phoropter tests can be VERY subjective and that it takes time for our eyes to refocus during such a test. Common errors in over prescriptions is a known problem in the industry. So by not offering more time during the re-test but instead sped up the process by just a doing a less than 2 min test for each of us indirectly tells me this is NOT what a 'GOOD' doctor should do. I will go get the spectacles as she prescribed and see how those glasses will turn out. Either the hospital in Singapore that I had my eye tested was completely off about my eyesight, or it is Dr. Prickett's readings that are way off. Our whole family loves Dr. Chu and Dr. Ali! The teens enjoy Dr. Ali, us parents enjoy Dr. Chu. The office is clean and well managed. The selection of eyewear is very VERY limited, but you can purchase frames elsewhere and they will fill the prescription. I've done that once already. My only complaint would be the front office staff eating/ snacking in the performance of their job. A cup of coffee, fine, but one girl was snacking down on Pringles! That should have to wait until your break away from the patients IMO. read more
