I arrived to Ladera Ranch Optometry early, ready for my routine eye exam... not realizing I was about to enter The Fortress of Upsells. As I sat in the waiting area, I overheard three different customers getting hit with prices so high you'd think the glasses were crafted with pure gold. One older gentleman said, "That's substantially more than I expected," and the staff member replied, "you can make payments." Ma'am... even Wonder Woman doesn't finance her accessories. By the time it was my turn, my lasso of truth was practically buzzing. I have great insurance -- $10 co-pay for my exam -- yet somehow I still walked out paying an extra $40 for a retinal photo scan I was never told about until after they'd already decided I "needed" it. When I asked if it was required, all I got was, "The doctor recommends it," which is optometry speak for "It's optional... but we're doing it anyway." The only hero in this storyline was Dr. Pantea Meghdadi -- She is smart, kind, professional, and honestly the only reason this review isn't a flaming one-star Amazonian battle cry. Otherwise? Ladera ranch Optometry (Dr. Pantea Meghdadi) is fabulous! I had a raging eye infection, went to Urgent Care and they gave me drops that made the infection worse! I was in a panic because now both eyes were infected and I was leaving for Hawaii in 3 days. The office was able to get me in right away and prescribed the proper drops. I went to this business last year for the first time on a recommendation. While Dr. Jones is second to none their optical department is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with. I brought my own frames in because I like them and they were expensive. I left my glasses thinking I'd be picking them up in 2 weeks as promised. Two weeks turned into three, then four when I finally called to find out what was going on. Apparently the lab had botched the order and in the process ruined my frames. While I got my frame back and a full refund I didn't get a new prescription. Fast forward one year and we're back in the same boat. Different lab this time, but I'm STILL WAITING ON MY GLASSES AFTER A MONTH. My initial order was messed up, either by the office or the lab -- it doesn't matter. It was screwed up AGAIN. Glasses were sent back to be fixed, came back AND THEY WERE STILL WRONG. The optician never properly measured for the correct placement of the bifocal. After getting properly measured I was told they'd be ready today and now I'm being told it'll be another five days. Never, EVER have I experienced such incompetency with what should be a professional establishment. I don't care how good their doctors are. They will never touch a pair of my glasses again. read more

I would caution anyone thinking of going to this practice for their eye exam or to order a pair of glasses. I went to this place because it was on the directory of my insurance company. After an eye exam, I was fitted for and purchased a pair of progressive lens glasses for nearly $1,300 !!! Despite the fact that I only paid $350, the rest was charged to my insurance. This charge is outrageous. When the glasses arrived, I immediately complained the Rx wasn't correct. They encouraged me to wear them for a week. I did and then returned again, asking to adjust the Rx. They refused and suggested I speak to my MD opthomologist. I visited my MD and he agreed the Rx should be adjusted. I again returned to this office and again, they refused to adjust the Rx. They are very polite but just keep saying I should give it more time. They keep putting me off and not solving the Rx error. It's now been 6 months. I will no doubt have to pay to go to a new place for a new Rx and new glasses. I'd advise anyone thinking of this office to find another shop. read more

Geraldine, who is the customer service person was outstanding. Again, did not over sell and offered advice on benefits, comparative products, etc. They will be my future contacts at this office. I had a wonderful experience with Dr Koepke- I am hard to fit with contacts, needing close and far correction. Dr Koepke was great at what would work and it did! The staff was super friendly and helpful - finding the best prices. They gave me back full credit on my contact boxes that I didn't use from my previous prescription, which saves me money.
