Dr Christine and her staff, apparently won't make prescriptions in glasses you already own, (or want to purchase) that are valued over $250. Reason is, In case they break them they're not liable, which a simple document would suffice, but that's their policy...ok that's fine. However, they won't give you your own pupillary distance (PD) measurement to make sure the glasses you do get made are perfect for your eyes. UNBELIEVABLE! A policy, ( I was told by their receptionist) to force you to use them to have them made, and cut down on internet sold glasses. So you pay Target's eye doctor for a full exam and retinal scan, but they hold hostage your PD to try to force a prescription made with glasses you don't want. Update: Dr. Liu called me personally and we are working things out. So great to see a professional go above and beyond the call of duty to make things right in the eyes of the customer. Below is the history but "all's well that ends well." On September 30, 2020, Dr. Liu gave me a complete eye examination and fitted me for contact lens. I was not told that the prescription was only good for the brand listed. When I went to Costco they told me I could not buy Costco lenses because my prescription was limited to the one brand Dr. Liu prescribed. I called Dr Liu's office on my way in to get the prescription modified to include the Costco brand but she was not in the office that day. I called several times after that to try to get an appointment and was told to leave my number which I did but never got a call back. Because these lens were going to be a backup and because I rarely wear them, I was not in a hurry to get them and because my prescription specifically said it expired one year later, September 30, 2020, I assumed I had until then to get the brand changed and buy a year's worth of contact lenses. I called again today a couple of times and the first time got the same message to leave my number and I would be called back. I never got a call back but on the 2nd call I did get through to someone. I was told that Dr. Liu has a policy that even though the prescription is good for one year, if you do not come back within 6 months, you have to pay for another complete examination to get the brand changed. I informed Dr. Liu's assistant that if I have to pay for another complete examination, I will be going elsewhere. So, what I learned is that your prescription is limited to the brand on the prescription and with Dr. Liu, you have 6 months (or maybe 3 months) to go back and get the brand changed or you will have to pay for a whole new examination even though your prescription is valid for an entire 12 months. read more

I don't have vision insurance and was happy to find Optometry Now. I made the appointment online easily, and Dr. Liu was very helpful in making me feel valued. She was helpful in answering all my questions and heeding my feedback about how much I hate the contacts my old eye doctor gave me. She gave me some new contact samples to try, eyedrop suggestions and coupons, my prescription, and sent me on my way. Also gotta love that this is inside a Target so you can get your shopping done afterwards. The whole appointment took under an hour and I really appreciated her patience. Let me start off by saying Dr. Liu is AMAZING! I had spontaneously walked into Target (cause why not?!) and realized the Target in San Clemente just opened a brand new optical center. Very good experience! Dr. Liu took the time to examine me well and explain everything properly. She has the ability to make you feel really relaxed like you are just talking to your neighbor, rather than checking for scary diseases like, glaucoma, cateracts, or diabetes. Then before you know it, the exam is over and you're free to go, new prescription in hand. I don't have insurance which usually makes things way more expensive. And even with insurance, I always seemed to be paying more when I've been to other eye doctors I've used, and usually with more hassle. The only thing was they didn't tell and I forgot to ask was if they have my prescription contacts in stock already, or tell me how much they'd be to buy. So I'll have to call back but luckily they're in my usual Costco so I'm always there every other week anyway. It did take a week to get an appointment which was the only hardship. So... I thought everything was great with my visit to Dr. Liu. I didn't have vision insurance at the time, hence my visit there. Super affordable if you don't have it. During my visit, I got my contact prescription updated... yay! Seeing clearly again! I ended up getting vision insurance through my employer and therefore, wanted to get my glasses through the insurance. I couldn't do this via Dr. Liu, so I had my glasses prescription called in to a provider covered by my insurance. Glasses came in and whoa! Did Dr. Liu's office send the right prescription? I couldn't see ANYTHING with the new glasses. Confirmed that no, that was supposed to be my glasses prescription. Uhh.. no. I don't know if Dr. Liu's office had a 'problem' with me filling my glasses elsewhere or something - but the prescription was not right. They also said that I has astigmatism, which during my eye-test with the new eye doctor, it turns out I didn't. So now - I've had to pay for two eye exams and had to pay out of pocket for my new glasses because Dr. Liu's prescription was used by my insurance - on glasses that weren't right for me. I'm disappointed in service I received regarding my glasses prescription from them; for that reason - I won't ever go back. read more

When doing my exam she was very patient with me to make sure when we were switching between the prescriptions that I picked the one that would increase my vision the best, which at some optometrists you can feel you are getting on their nerves switching between to make sure which was the least blurry option. Amazing optometrist! Dr. Liu is a very comfortable person to be around. I have been there for 2 eye exams, one for me and one for my mom a while back. Both times were very pleasurable. She's patient, and she makes sure you leave with all questions answered and taken care of. I got a new prescription for a pair of Oakley sunglasses, which turns out that it won't be able to fit into the frame. So I will be back for a follow up, to get contacts instead. I paid $49, and an exam for new contacts user is somewhere between $114-$134, and they'd subtract what I had paid for my original prescription. So we'll see how that goes! read more

Great optometrist. I no longer had insurance through my employer, so I could not afford the $120 eye exam fee at my preferred optometrist. So when I went to Costco and saw the price of the exam at $49, I walked right in. Luckily, they take walk-ins, if their schedule permits, and I was in and out of there in about 10-15 minutes with my new prescription. I have to say, I didn't expect much at that price, but she was as good as, if not better, than my original optometrist. Highly recommended.
