This time I am taking the time to share the amazing customer service I received from James Mares at La Paz Optometric. I have been with La Paz Optometric for 30 years at least. Dr. Yamamoto is awesome; the staff is courteous. I am in once a year and that is it. About two weeks ago I went in to have my glasses frame fixed or replaced. They called me a few days later and I picked up my glasses. The next day I noticed that I could not see as clearly as I did before. I swore that I had the wrong prescription lenses. I called and demanded to speak to the Office Manager. I was ready for a battle on the phone (shame on me). James very nicely said no problem come in tomorrow and I can check it for you. I went in earlier than expected. Now am ready to be a "karen" if need be. Well, I did not have to wait long even though I showed up 45 minutes early. James was very nice, took the glasses, came back and said the prescription was correct. I said how do I know that it is? I could see fine before and now not so much. He did a quick test, and it looked like my sight had changed. Thinking to myself "great now I need to get a new prescription, and it has not been a year since I bought these glasses " James suggested having my eyes checked again by Dr. Yamamoto who happened to be there. I agreed and waited 10 more minutes. Dr. checked me again and in fact my sight had changed a bit. The entire time, James had the most delightful attitude and made me feel like I am a valued patient/customer. He took the time and with kindness he disarmed me. I offered to pay for the new exam, I do not like to take advantage, I just want to see. I highly recommend la Paz Optometric. I will be seeing them for another 30 plus years with the grace of God. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Truong treated my mother with the utmost respect, patience, and genuine care. She took the time to make sure my mother felt comfortable throughout the appointment and never rushed the process. It meant a lot to see a physician show that level of compassion and professionalism. Extremely Unsanitary and Unprofessional Experience - Resulted in Eye Infection…read more I went to Dr. Zia at the Optometry at The Shops in Mission Viejo for a simple routine eye exam and unfortunately ended up with a severe eye infection. Within a day, my eyelid became swollen, painful, and red. I have since had to see both my primary care doctor and an eye specialist, who confirmed the infection and prescribed antibiotics. Despite treatment, the swelling and discomfort have persisted for several days (photos attached show the progression). During my exam, I observed very poor hygiene practices -- no handwashing before touching my eyes and no visible cleaning of tools between patients, eye drops used but cannot be sure how clean and new it was. When I brought this up after chafing my my primary care that I for sure picked up an eye infection my concerns were dismissed they tried to blame it on other things AfterwardsI reached out to provide feedback and explain that I didn't feel comfortable having my exam given the outcome and several mistakes during the exam (including entering the wrong astigmatism axis). A staff member named James initially offered to reverse the charge so I could go elsewhere, but the office later refused and billed my insurance anyway. When I later spoke with Dr. Zia, she confused me with another patient named ("Zaineb"), gave inconsistent explanations, and seemed unsure who she was speaking to, even though she is the one who called me back, which was very unsettling. Between the poor hygiene, few mistakes on the exam, and refusal to take accountability, this was the most unprofessional medical experience I've ever had. I'm sharing this review, along with photos, to warn others to be extremely cautious before booking an appointment here.

This review is really for the front ladies, even though my time with Dr. Bittner was also great. She was quick and efficient and even went over my eye X-rays (is that what it's called...?) with me. And then, there's Joy and Luci. I spoke to Joy ever so briefly on the phone before I even went in for my appt. And from our conversation, she pulled some frames for me to try on that would suit me when I came in. And boy, did she nail it! She was super patient with me, let me try-on, and retry a few, never rushed me, and we found a great pair of frames that also suited my budget. When it was time to pick them up, Luci was there to help adjust my glasses. She was also very patient and attentive. She explained their warranty a little bit more, and even spent time helping a non-patient that I brought in. These ladies are amazing. And I am so glad this is where I went for my eye exam and glasses. I went in alone and they helped me pick the right shape and sized frame for my face. Even color. I highly recommend this office.

My grandparents have had me come here for years since I was little, and everyone has always been friendly and patient. What really stands out, though, is something that happened once when I brought my glasses in for a repair. They got lost somewhere in the repair process, which was out of their control. But they were so nice they paid out of pocket to replace them with a brand new pair for me. It made my whole week they're amazing.
