Best Eye Doctors Ever! Very efficient staff and knowledgeable doctors. Answer all questions patiently!

Dr. Sofia Alibhai was great and so were the technicians who helped me with the routine eye care exam. My prescription lenses changed form single vision to progressive, and Dr. Alibhai explained to me the different lens options in detail. My concern was around the information (lack of) that was given to me before my appointment. The front desk informed me that they will be sending the paperwork to my insurer (VSP) and submit the claim; I will have to pay upfront and will be reimbursed with a check by my insurer. They also went on mentioning that most of their customers use VSP and do it this way. What they didn't mention to me that I will be reimbursed only a partial amount as an out of network reimbursement, which in my case was 45 USD. Thus I had to end up paying 70 USD from my pocket. Had I known this upfront, I would have gone to my in-network provider that I had from last year. The only reason I went to this clinic was the positive experience that I had with my son's visit earlier, and I know that I could have double clicked on the reimbursement amount with them or my insurer, but I expected them to be upfront about the out-of-network partial reimbursement as all other health clinics do when they are not in network, more so since they mention they deal with my insurance all the time. I visited SpecialEyes to receive a contact and eyeglass exam. I have been wearing glasses for a few years but I also wanted the flexibility of contacts. Visited a month ago. After struggling for some time to get things to focus for a new prescription, the OD told me that I likely needed cataract surgery and recommended it was time for surgery, not new glasses. The referral was to a place in Bellevue that I eventually didn't have much trust in. I asked they send the referral to a different ophthalmologist that I did trust. Upon seeing that ophthalmologist, cataract surgery was NOT recommended. Partly because they very quickly zeroed in on a 20/20 prescription. i will be getting new glasses with the prescription from today. Very happy with the exam. Perhaps worth highlighting for contact lens wearers is that they have a ton of trial lenses in stock across almost all of the major brands - Alcon, Vistakon/J&J, and Coopervision, including torics. As a toric wearer, I've always had to deal with waiting a week for trials to get in, while here they're in stock the same day. I'm guessing the sheer volume of patients that they see here allow them to stock nearly everything. My only minor complaint - the office was super busy on a Saturday (not really unexpected), and the "waiting area" outside consisted of two folding chairs and a bunch of family members of patients loitering while appointments were taking place. I wish this was a bit more comfortable/organized, but I'll deal with that given the reasonable up-front pricing and good exam. read more

My child got eyeglasses and contact lens exams here last summer. We were told that myopia control contact lenses will be coming in just a few weeks, so instead of getting regular contact lenses, we waited. We were told that we would be notified when they come. We waited for months, and there is no notification whatsoever. I called to follow up and was told that they'd be getting them in soon, and we're on their list of patients to be notified. More months go by, and nothing. Never felt so uncared for, and it is especially disappointing as it's the health of a child's eyes they're (supposed to be) working on. We ended up going elsewhere, where they were trustworthy and really cared for their patients, as they should be. Sadly, we found out that while waiting for SpecialEyes to get back to us, my child had a severe myopia progression resulting his prescription to be over -5.0. We were in tears. I would avoid this practice at all costs, especially if you have young children. They could have at least told the truth so he could have gotten his myopia control care elsewhere instead of having us hanging for so long. I grew up going to Costco for my vision needs and always trusted them, but unfortunately had a terrible experience here. I would avoid SpecialEyes at Redmond Costco at all costs!!!!! read more

Wow!!! I have to be honest I was completely hesitant of going here as I thought it would be somehow inferior to my private eye doctor. Boy was I wrong. Tiffany is without doubt the best optometrist I have been to. I am kind of a problem child (weird eyes, blind as a bat, hate glasses) and needed to get a new contact lens prescription and contacts. She nailed it on my first progressive lenses, crazy high astigmatism contacts and a set of readers. Great staff. Super efficient, friendly and fast. Prices are awesome, service is amazing. I've been a patient of Dr. Alibhai for over 10 years now. During every visit, she has spent more than twice the amount of time with me compared to any other doctor I've had. She's meticulous in gathering her patient histories, performing her examinations and ensuring that any concerns or questions I have are thoroughly addressed. She sets the gold standard for patient care and "bedside" manner as far as I'm concerned. Her experience is nothing to sneeze at either. She can fill hours talking about so many interesting cases she's dealt with - especially in humanitarian work settings in far flung countries with barely any tools. If anything is weird, chances are she's seen it before and has a great network of doctors to refer to if it's beyond what an optometrist can take care of. Once I found out that a doctor she referred me to was literally the best in the region - and I was seen the same day! With her brand new office conveniently located in the new Redmond Costco, things are even better - the office and equipment are all brand new and the latest in billing and payment are all there. Best of all, since that Costco is pretty new, it's not a complete zoo - getting appointments is easy and I'm not having to park in Timbuktu. As a bonus, the optical center was super efficient in both cost and time in filling my contact lens prescription! Cheers to the one doctor I truly look forward to seeing! read more

Love the online reservation system which allowed me to re-schedule a few times due to a couple of busy work weeks. Plus it was great to get text message reminder before the appointment.
