Just had my first eye exam at Ocean Eyecare/Optical and it was amazing from the start! I just moved to the area recently and have been looking for a new eye doctor. Called several places and no one answered or called me back. Ocean has an online booking and reminder process that made everything so much easier! The office is large and spacious, ample parking in the strip mall. Dr. Shams and staff were wonderful and so helpful esp Jordan who helped me navigate the tricky waters of a double coverage insurance plan and maximize my coverage. There service was ok. My eyeglasses took over 2.5 months to come in which was fine because they where on back order but it was communicated differently to me. Then after that I had to re-take my glasses in and have them fixed because the glass part was rotated apparently. Since I had to take them in they gave me 4 pairs of daily contacts which ran out and I didn't have anyway of seeing. They did not contact me to let me know my glasses where ready which is a huge inconvenience for me until I decided to finally call and ask if they where ready. If you want to get in and out, this is the place for you but personally I want in depth consultation about my eyes/ eye health. read more

I went to Ocean Eyecare because I had eyeglasses that just weren't 'right' from a previous ophthalmologist even though the Rx was changed several times. I went to Ocean and the optometrist examined my eyes and explained how my eyes could be better corrected. After some fiddling to get the reading part of the progressive lenses adjusted, my vision is now perfect and I am absolutely thrilled. The staff is so nice and will go out of their way to be sure the glasses are perfect and I will go back there from now on ( even though I have very minimal vision coverage through AARP) so most of the cost is on me. I broke a pair of glasses (don't ask). The screws holding the temples on were stripped out. I thought I would need to replace them, but Ocean Optical was able to repair them to like-new condition. I'm providing a follow up review to my additional one. My first review focused on my eye doctor appointment and experience ordering glasses. This review focuses on my experience picking up my glasses and returning a few days later to get adjustments. The staff are outstanding in their service and providing information. They are friendly and have such positive attitudes. I feel they are providing great care and attention to my concerns and wants. I'm never rushed. They listen and follow through on helpful recommendations. When I went to pick up my glasses, the optometrist spent great time reviewing my order and helping me try on my new glasses. I liked that all the paperwork was printed and invoices were itemized. Everything is transparent. She assured me that if I tried them at home and found I needed to adjust them, then I could easily return. I'm so glad I took them up on that offer, because it's hard to tell how glasses truly feel on your ears while wearing a mask. After wearing them for a few days, I noticed that one ear kept getting irritated. When I returned to get my glasses adjusted, they had no problem helping me and were able to squeeze me in quickly. I'm thankful that I found this place. I plan on being a customer here for a longtime!! read more

Went to Ocean Optical to get some computer glasses ordered. I had done my eye exam during a previous visit and when I arrived, the young man who helped me (I'm terrible with names but I think his name is Jordan) quickly got my paperwork. I had brought in an old pair of glasses that were broken and asked if they could be fixed. He said yes, and did it for free in just a few minutes while I waited! On top of that, he showed me a pair of frames that were on sale and they were more than half off. He wasn't trying to sell me something expensive, which I really appreciated. In addition, when explaining the different lens options he didn't try to push the more expensive option. He explained the difference between the two and then let me decide. Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend checking them out. Oh, and I almost forgot - when I had my eye exam I had them do an extra test that I'd never had done before and it showed that I have basically dandruff on my eyelashes, which is what had been causing my eye to feel irritated by the end of the day when wearing contacts. Thanks to Ocean Optical, I learned that I need to gently wipe my eyelashes and after I started doing that consistently, the irritation was gone. 8-) read more

I hate getting my eyes examined, but my experience at Ocean Optical was the best experience I've had with this process. Dr. Shan was very welcoming, explained every step, and reassured me when my phobias were kicking in. I can't recommend this place and Dr. Shan highly enough. Also, all the office staff were friendly and Kip walked me through every step of picking out frames and other options for my lenses. I have been going to Ocean Optical for my glasses for 3+ years -- since they were in a different location -- and it's been a wonderful experience every single time. I live in Seattle, and the drive to Redmond is well worth it! The owner is one of those wonderful people who is doing *exactly* what he was meant to do. He loves glasses himself, and has several pairs, and shopping for new frames doesn't get more fun than a pow-wow session with him. He is sympathetic to my need to try on at least 65 pairs before I'm sure I've found the right pair for me. :) He has a discriminating eye, too, and is great at helping find the right shape and color to flatter your particular face and features. As an older person I have been to many optometrists and even a few ophthalmologists. Therefore, I can say confidently that this office is the best I have ever been to. The staff are professional and friendly. If you are older I highly recommend paying the extra money (it's not much) for the vision screening tests. Turns out they detected early cataract forming in both eyes as well as glaucoma in one of my eyes. Thanks to their screening I now know I have a problem to deal with. Early detection is key to keeping vision as long as possible. And they have a good selection of frames to choose from. Highly recommended. read more

I bought my current glasses there and the whole experience left me feeling uneasy. The salesman was somewhat pushy and his demeanor was just strange, it's hard to put my finger on why... The optometrist was pretty meh. She was pretty forgettable. I only remember feeling rushed, maybe because my appointment was in the late evening and the staff was tired from a long day. Either way, it was an unpleasant experience. So much so that I never went back for my contact lenses after the initial appointment and have been wearing the same glasses. My glasses need to be adjusted for fit but I dread having to go back to that weird place. I tried booking an appointment for my husband and the same salesman- he has a very distinct way of talking- answered the phone and was quite rude when I asked some questions about schedules and services. I will not be returning to this shop any time soon. read more

Easily the best experience I've ever had getting prescription sunglasses. Kit, the manager, is top-notch, and he'll remind you of an Americanized, bastardized Bill Nighy: Funny, brutally honest, and friendly. He'll say things like, "Your face looks like a scorched oven mitt with those on, old chap!" Or: "Hey, Guy, take a seat and I'll get right with ya...when I'm damn good and ready!" (He actually never said any of these things). Point is, he's cool. Good dude and he'll talk you through how you're getting screwed at LensCrafters and to just trust him. Last time I did that, my bank called to see if I had been identity-thieved and if I had really approved those charges. Brought a pair of frames here to get lenses put in them. Overall it was a positive experience. Turns out Redmond Eye Doctors got the prescription wrong and I couldn't see out of one eye. Always professional, Kit and Marissa are a great team. Kit is the owner, and is the one who helps you find the perfect frames. Marissa does the optical exams and helps you find contacts. You never feel pressured or convinced to buy something you don't love. They are also happy to readjust your frames at any time, and are even fixing my wife's frames that she bought elsewhere just because we're return customers. Terrible service here. know what my prescription is. I know what make/model of glasses I want. I just want to try them on and order them. I called Ocean Optical to find out if they have the glasses I want, but they wouldn't tell me! They said 'we have thousands of glasses in stock', 'yes we carry that brand and have many models in that brand'. I asked if they had the particular model and they said 'I don't know. You have to come in to see'. I said 'you don't know if you have that model' they said 'no, I don't know'. I asked if they could look up whether they have it, and they said 'No. I can't.'! I don't know if they can't, or won't, but they way he said it was just so rude and abrupt. I don't have time to visit lots of different stores. I just want to go in to one place, try them on, and order them. I won't be going back to Ocean optical. So rude, so unhelpful. read more

When it comes to old-fashioned, personalized customer service, this is about as good as it gets. The first time I visited Ocean Optical I was a student with no vision insurance. Kit took the initiative to get me as many discounts as he could, and he took plenty of time to help me find frames that were fashionable but on clearance. He found me some great frames and offered to bend them into a slightly different shape that was more flattering for my face, and they came out perfect! Marissa also did a great job finding me the right prescription when most optometrists struggle. The next year I had a job and was no longer living on a student budget, but Marissa still gave me a free follow-up visit when we had trouble confirming my new prescription. Kit was helpful as always, taking as much time as needed to find the right set of frames. I got the scratch-resistant coating, and a few months after owning them one of my lenses got scratched up quite badly. Even though it was likely my fault, Kit still did what he could to get me a replacement lens at no cost. I moved to Arizona before realizing that the lens was in, so Kit is going out of his way to mail me the lens. When I move back to Washington I will likely be hours away from Ocean Optical, but I will likely still drive over there to take care of my prescription, frames, and lenses. It's hard to find that kind of service nowadays, and worth the trip. read more
