Wow, first time there, definitely going to continue. I had some flashes in my right eye and went to the ER. They said they didn't see anything but said go to an optometrist for a dilated exam. I didn't much like my old optician, so I called these folks. They got me right in, were nice, did a comprehensive exam, and explained everything. Luckily, it wasn't anything dire. Good service, terrible glasses. Use of anything but Bellevue Vision clinic's "special" cleaning fluid ruins the lens due to the fact that they are made from cheap plastic. (Note cleaner used has worked fine with every other pair of glasses ever owned). Also opted for the add-on of magnetic pop on/off sunglasses. They are convenient, but the magnets are well within the field of vision. When complained about the issue was told there was nothing to do but perhaps let the manufacturer know. Finally, despite several visits for re-adjustments they still fit poorly. Back to old glasses. Waste of time and money. If you proceed anyway: Be VERY careful on your selection and stock up on the "magic" cleaner. read more

Apparently they only have phone messaging, "but they will get right back to you." I called early morning. Didn't hear back till the next afternoon after leaving another message. "Oh, didn't know." Made an appointment. Day of appointment I could not find the Clinic, searched for an hour. Their clinic had moved. No one told me on the phone. I went to Bellevue Vision Clinic for years... but the company has expanded, the old fantastic optometrists/staff have gone, and the service has gone downhill. When you call, you must suffer through a lengthy phone tree. Rarely does a human pick up when you call. Messages are not returned. Texts are not returned. I called/texted 5 times before I was able to reach someone last time. They take a 1.5 hour break in the middle of the day for lunch (must be nice!) and it's difficult to schedule a local appointment because the doctors go back and forth between the Woodinville and Bellevue offices. Multiple times I had trouble ordering contacts and glasses (incorrect order was received, lengthy delays, inability to talk to someone who could fix the problem, etc.) The optometrists are competent, but they seem rushed and overscheduled. Unfortunately, this often happens when businesses feel the need to get bigger and bigger. There's nothing wrong with a small business staying small and remaining a place where customers receive great service, personal attention, and quality support. read more

I went there for reading/monitor glasses. I have astigmatism, so simple over the counter corrective lenses don't work for me. The staff is friendly and very professional. Everyone took time to make sure the result was nothing less than perfect and it was! The new glasses are great and thanks to the folks in the clinic I can enjoy life quite a bit more. read more

Update: Dr. Clayton contacted me and clarified the details (appreciate it), it wasn't communicated to me about the fee for the "Chem Clip" part and one add-on feature. It wasn't mentioned to me that my insurance company already paid $350 when I was paying $169 myself, I hope this communication transparency can be improved in future. ============================================================ I visited Dr. Clayton a few times, however, my last visit during Sep/2021 made me feel so astonished and annoying, they charged me $519.00 for a "Sunglasses and Clip" for my eyeglasses (with a drill of tiny holes on my eyeglasses to install magnet) when I checked my insurance claim. A while ago I wrote a review about this clinic and pretty much slammed them for poor time keeping when I was kept waiting for over 40 minutes, left alone in a room and had to ask several times why I was waiting so long. Today, I have to say, I was very happy with their time keeping! I was seen on time and when I had to hang around for a test to be repeated, I was kept informed throughout my wait of how long it would be. I never felt as if I might be forgotten. I am so happy to be able to update my review, as this clinic really is excellent. Dr. Hamza keeps me informed as to how I can improve my dry eyes myself; by taking fish oils, heating my eyes daily, using clean (chemical free) make up as well as using restasis daily. Keeping to her advice has significantly improved my dry eyes. She has referred me to one of the top dry eye specialists in the country, and I know that she will continue to update me with the latest findings in my war on dry eyes :-) read more

During the exam, Dr. Laura told me they recommended new patients to do dilution for a better understanding of the eyes at their first eye exam. But since I need to go to work that day, the doctor said I can come again for dilation.(which I thought is still part of my eye exam) The second visit was fast,(if I don't count the 30 mins waiting time) no any other exam or consultation. I did dilation only. But I got this $100 bill saying general visit. Excuse me?! Isn't this part of my eye exam? No one told me there is separate charge. Then I try to reach out reach out to the billing department to explain the situation. I called twice during business hours. It's always the voice mail. Then I emailed them. But the feedback I got is, it's changed correctly because there was also a follow up for my dry eye syndrome, and that is not part of my routine eye exam. NO ONE DID ANY FOLLOW UP! The assistant just asked how I feel about my eyes, are they still dry? I said yes, stays the same. Conversation over... I emailed twice try to explain this but they said it's accurate. I used to go to Bellevue office for years and was happy with the service. But now company apparently expanded and service went downhill. First, I got incorrect prescription. Made glasses at Costco since it is twice cheaper. Besides, frame selection is better there. I stopped by with questions about the prescription. I was told that someone will review it and come back. Nothing happened. Stopped by next day - office is closed, apparently for lunch. There is no sign on the door what would tell the office has lunch break. All it says 8 to 6. For lunch they randomly put a small sign "will bet back at...". OK, I waited and office finally opened, but optician was apparently at lunch for another 30 minutes. When I expressed disappointment, I was basically told to never come again. Which is exactly what I am going to do after 15 years. This clinic cares way more about itself than about its customers. Today they also discharged from service my wife who has been their customer for 15+ years. I guess some places still consider women to be an extension to their husbands. read more

I had my comprehensive eye exam with Dr. Clayton a week back and am very satisfied with his detailed testing and explaining me all the details of my eye health. Since, I have high myopia, Dr. Clayton made sure to check in details for retinal detachment and other age related eye disease like glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc. He did the fully dilated pupil exam, 2D retinal imaging, 3D OCT scan to see the details of my retina and also checked the health of my cornea. All the staff at Bellevue Vision Clinic were very friendly & courteous and I look forward do my regular eye exams at Bellevue Vision Clinic in future. I haven't seen an optometrist since 2008 - and my eyeglasses are from 2005. Nothing has changed then, but I want new spectacles, so I figure I might as well get my ocular sensors examined to renew my 2005 prescription. After researching the internet for places in Bellevue, I decided to go to Bellevue Vision Clinic given the amount of positive reviews from various sources, including Yelp. Upon entering the store, I found myself a very brightly lit store, with a cheerful and wonderful staff to work with. There's complimentary drip coffee, a few magazines and items for little ones to keep entertained. After being checked in, I was efficiently being moved from the various preliminary testing machines, such as the testing peripheral vision, basic vision test, getting my retina photographed. The primary was conducted by Dr. Clayton and he's informed and knowledgeable person. He answered all of my questions thoroughly, and gave me advice for the future with my eyes. He also adds a slight sense of humor when conducting an eye examination. I'm happy with the service here - and I will be glad to use them in the future. Note: I didn't purchase my eyeglasses here - for that I'm going elsewhere as I shop for a frame. ==Tips== 1) There can be an idle waiting time between the preliminary and primary examination, as the other patients are causing are causing a delay from the doctor seeing patients in order. I should've brought a book to read or my laptop to do some work on as I waited between examinations. 2) Bellevue Vision Clinic is not part of the VSP Network Providers - they did prepare out-of-network claim paperwork for me though. read more

She is such a positive and compassionate professional, and a true champion for kids learning to put on contacts - in this case Corneal Reshaping Therapy (CRT) contact lenses for our child's severe myopia (this condition significantly increases the risk for retinal detachment). Over the course of the past two months, Char has been our child's coach and super champion. She has used patience and positivity, ingenious methods, fun prizes, and encouragement to help our child go from someone who was downright fearful and physically adverse to placing anything in the eyes, to being one who is now proud, confident, and able to place CRT lenses on the first try. I had been a previous patient with BVC and had never received better service from any other place in the past. This time around, the service was still decent, but my issues are the billing practices. As with most businesses, they look at ways to expand their revenue and, in this case, is about carving out services like "lens consultation" and things that have traditionally been part of most optometrists services when doing a exam and prescription for lenses. I was quoted one figure for my appointment and somehow because I asked a question about something, apparently, unbeknownst to me, our conversation turned into a "consultation". Now the conversation seemed more like a client asking a question and nobody ever stopped and told me, "I'm going to have to charge you for that answer". In fact, I've been wearing lenses for over 30 years as well as one who educates themselves on things as a matter of curiosity, so little information is truly new at this point. What I thought was a pleasant exchange of information and conversation, actually turned into additional billing. This would be like a doctor giving you pills for any ailment, but then charging you more to ask questions about the side effects. When I brought this up with the office, all they did was tell me that I signed some document when I was admitted that basically gave them full permission to charge me for things like the "consultation". As much as we should all read those things carefully, very few of us do because those documents are designed more as a CYA for businesses and their liability so falling back on that doesn't truly give you a pass on ethics. I won't criticize the service, but as a business person I am pretty high on ethics and this is one of those instances where the influences of capitalism have allowed them to take a few liberties I would question. read more

I have been a patient for a couple years now and have been completely satisfied (and get lots of compliments on my frames.) I have a daughter with an intellectual disability who has worn glasses in the past, but hasn't for a few years (long story shorter, I'm not sure she got the right script from her old doctor and wouldn't wear them.) I overheard that they got a new ped eye doctor and asked if they could manage my 16 yr old not very verbal daughter. They said "Of course! Any of our doctors could work with her!" But we decided to go with the ped eye doctor, Dr. Olsen. Okay, she's amazing, and I am so glad we found her. She was patient and engaged with my daughter the entire time, and was really dedicated to getting the best outcome. She also picked up quickly which eye used to have strabismus (I couldn't remember and had to pull up pictures.) The rest of the staff were also fabulous with her, ensuring that we had the most positive outcome of our visit. We were there for two hours (had to wait 30 minutes for eyes to dilate) and not once was I worried about a meltdown, nor did I break out into a sweat - every special needs parent knows what this means ;) I would definitely recommend them if you have a teen with any sort of developmental disability. They all worked with my daughter beautifully. And if you just need a good eye doctor, I like them lots for me as well. I saw a review where someone said there were long wait times - I've never encountered that. Once, on an extremely busy day, I waited ten minutes to order glasses, but that just gave me time to pick out frames. read more

I woke up with a corneal abrasion and initially thought I had sand in my eye. Very painful and kept trying to flush it out. Finally called the clinic and they set me up immediately with an appt with Dr. Hamza who I've seen before. She put a contact bandage in and told me all the steps to take going forward to avoid this and started me on a treatment after the abrasion healed to avoid this happening again. I was able to get an appointment very quickly which is always a pleasant surprise. The staff on the phone and at the front desk were friendly and attentive. After filling out paperwork, I waited for a few brief minutes for my appointment in the waiting area and browsed the eyeglass displays. The office is clean and tidy. My appointment was with Dr. Huang who was fantastic. She was very friendly and explained what she was doing throughout the exam. She took her time and answered my questions. I second Sarah's recommendation. I've heard great things about both of the doctors at Bellevue Vision Clinic, but Dr. Clayton had the earliest opening so I went with him. I've had some *awful* experiences with eye doctors in the past, so I had a pretty high bar for Dr. Clayton to meet, and he surpassed it. As Sarah said, very nice and friendly. Really good about asking about eye allergies (which I'm so used to suffering through I would have never thought to bring it up on my own). I also like little bits of feedback he gives during the eye exam. Instead of just doing a bunch of cryptic tests (can you see better with 1 or 2), he'll add in explanations like "That's very consistent" or "looks good." Not that it's a huge deal, but with past eye doctors, trust was a HUGE issue, and Dr. Clayton seems very transparent and direct with his patients. The best part was at the end of the appointment - we walked through every test they did, the results they got, and what that meant about my eyes. He also gave me a card with the prescription for my glasses on it, which was awesome (past doctors haven't unless I asked specifically for it). My manager recommended me to go here - she's been going a long time and used them as consults for lasik surgery. They apparently refer you to a clinic that is moderate to pricey, but their success rates are very high, and problem rates are well below average / 0 in some cases. So, the short story: They really know what they're doing, and they're very nice on top of it all. I highly recommend these guys. read more

I woke up on Monday morning with excruciating pain in my right eye, and suspected I was having recurring corneal erosions. BVC managed to squeeze me into an appointment on the same day with Dr. Hamza (my regular being Dr. Clayton). Not to fuss... I just wanted my eyes to be checked asap. It turned out I did have a corneal abrasion, and was given three different eye drops, and clear after-care instructions. I'll be having a follow up with them next week. My husband has been coming here for years due to a combination of 1) excellent service, 2) knowledgable physicians and 3) technically advanced eye exam methods. I've always gone to whichever clinic happened to be most convenient at the time, but wow am I glad I changed! Each of my husbands reasons for loving Bellevue Vision Clinic are valid but I discovered a surprise bonus...I placed an order for contacts online and the online retailer called Bellevue Vision Clinic to verify my perscription. I was ordered three-months of a daily disposable contact with 30 lenses per box. Bellevue Vision Clinic called me to say that if I held off on ordering for three days, a new 90 lens per box contact was going to be available. Their heads up gave me a $25 savings per eye. I chose this place based on the yelp reviews (which sometimes let me down, sorry yelpers, but that's the awful truth) and i am pleased to report that the yelpers are right on with the bellevue vision clinic! i had dr. clayton, who has many great reviews here. all of them are true. he explained what i should be looking for when picking "1" or "2", "3" or "4" (i never knew if i should be looking for narrow, clear letters or bigger letters). when i brought up some concerns i had about my blood pressure and thyroid (which i was being tested for) he went right into conversation about my adrenal system. i was impressed! he also is the first eye doctor who had me try, like, 4 pairs of lenses for a few weeks to find the one i liked best. every eye doctor i've been to before has pretty much just sent me out the door with whatever lens they happen to sell. dr. clayton also gave me a load of daily wear lenses to try as well, gave me a prescription for a bacterial infection in my eye that my general practitioner couldn't identify (thank you dr. clayton, that was a huge eyeball relief!) and even saw me for another vision follow up after the infection cleared since he suspected my vision might change after my eye healed (he was right!). each time, he was patient, thorough, answered all my embarrassing rudimentary questions and told me all of my options. he also will work with you and your insurance to maximize your benefits which is awesome! all of the staff there was very nice as well, and every time i go in to pick up lenses or get a follow up exam, it seems like i walk out the door with a few boxes of those small, trial sized bottles of solution - score!!! they are open mon-fri, and one saturday a month. go!!!! read more

My cute little monster of a puppy decided to chew up the boyfriend's glasses yesterday. He chewed them up GOOD. The nosepads were gone, both of the sides were gnawed and crooked, and one of the lenses actually had a tiny bite taken out of it. Boyfriend was not happy. The glasses were wearable, but only just. We moved to the area all of a week ago, so I hurried to Yelp, then got the boy's prescription faxed over to the BVC. We stopped in on his lunch break, fully expecting to pay for a new pair of glasses. Instead, the doctor came out (within a minute or two, though we had no appointment) and examined the old glasses carefully. He deemed them potentially fixable and disappeared into the lab. Perhaps twenty minutes later, he returned, having replaced every bit except the lenses themselves and smoothed the edge of the damaged lens. Perfect! My boyfriend was happy again. The doctor was extremely nice and friendly and told us to go enjoy the sunshine. The best part? We didn't pay a cent for any of this fantastic service. We spoke with the staff about eventually opening an account, but there was no charge for the parts or the work today. They could easily have made $400 (boyfriend wears expensive glasses), but instead of hawking their product, they just... helped us. The BVC has earned two loyal customers for as long as the boy and I live in Bellevue. :) One note: It's a little hard to find just because you can't see it from the street. Going east on Bel Red Road, it's on the left side of the street, the last little complex before 134th Ave NE. My wife, who is generally averse visiting medical establishments, looks forward to her appointment with him. Scheduling is done quite competently, the waiting area is nice. My guy, Dr. Glaze is great, and my wife has seen the other two doctors and is enthused about them as well. I originally chose Bellevue Vision when I lived in Bellevue because it was the best (by far) in Yelp reviews. Now that I've moved to Seattle, I still trek back here. My main complaint it that their office is hard to spot from the road (impossible), but GPS directions are sufficient. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Clayton here for several years. I've been wearing glasses for almost 40 years and i've lived all over the world so i've seen *a lot* of different eye docs. Clayon is the best, by far, that i've seen. I highly recommend him due to his to easy-going personality, the way he interacts with you seems indicates he's actually listening to you, and the depth and breadth of information he gives is great. He's very thorough and takes his time, not rushing you to get to the next patient like i've experienced with other doctors. One time i was having extreme pain in my left eye and called in asking for an appointment, was told by the staff to come in right away. Dr. Clayton saw me and helped solve the issue (something inside my lower eyelid scrating the eye), i became a fan from that day. The entire staff is great. read more

EXCEPT maybe to catch a glimpse at the bald eagle on one of the light posts. BUT!! I will be making that dreaded drive, toll and all because I really enjoyed my 1st visit with Dr. Clayton and his staff. I have suffered from dry eyes forever, seen many of docs about this and no one really gives me much to work with. Not so with this doctor. We were like kindred dry eyed spirits. He drew pictures, pulled out pamphlets, showed me videos, squished my lower lids, etc. He has given me realistic hope for my dry eyes and that's priceless to me. Dr. Clayton's front desk was friendly and professional...every one of them. There were about three. I even bought a new pair of specs that day because I was so happy with my eye exam. The man who helped me reminded me of Gus from Breaking Bad, the customer service oriented character, NOT the bad character. :-) Prices are fair and I trust them, I hope you give them a try also. read more

I have seen Dr. Clayton for a few years now and always enjoy our detailed and evidence based discussions. Recently, a sibling was diagnosed with glaucoma. When I mentioned this to Dr. Clayton, we had a thorough discussion about my higher risk state, and what could be done to track my eye exam over time to hopefully avoid a late diagnosis and visual loss if that was in the cards. We decided on retinal mapping and yearly optical coherence tomography which I was able to do that day. Subsequently, when my ordered contact lenses did not show up after two weeks, I left a message on the office voicemail asking for follow up. I was quite surprised when Dr. Clayton himself on his day off showed up on my doorstep with ten pairs of lenses to get me through until they showed up! Talk about service! It had been a while since I last got my eyes checked & when I finally decided/found the time to do so, I decided to check Yelp reviews out. I have to say, the reviews were spot on! Dr. Clayton is a knowledgeable & professional eye doctor. In addition to that, he is thorough, kind and a good conversationalist. He answered all the questions that I had in detail (besides talking to me about St.Helens' volcanic eruption back in the 80's). The staff were friendly and helpful, so a special mention about them too. Turned out, I was allergic to the solution being used for my eye dilation exam and when it did affect me, they all made sure I was ok before continuing with the exam. Although the clinic is not a network provider (PPO) for my insurance, I stand by my decision to go there.
