The Eyecare Center is where I go to get my eye exams done, and I've never had a bad experience here. With so many different optometry services in Bellevue, it can be difficult to choose where to go. But I decided to switch over to The Eyecare Center due to its convenient location and positive reviews, which I stand by. It's very easy to make an appointment online, which is a big factor for any kind of health care services. I've been in situations where I've had to wait forever to get an appointment and/or could only schedule an appointment with someone on the phone, which can be difficult since my schedule is very busy. For me to schedule it myself, it's very easy to do online as I can plan out and also, easily cancel when need be. The Eyecare Center also takes VSP insurance. The Eyecare Center is located near the Bellevue Botanical Garden in the Wilburton neighborhood, and is right off of NE 8th street, which is easy to get to, with plenty of parking in the private lot. There's also the B line bus stop right in front of it, making it accessible for all. Staff are always friendly and I always see the same eye doctor. The annual exam takes about an hour with the usual eye tests, dilation, etc. They do also sell eyewear here. No complaints about The Eyecare Center. read more

For years I saw my eye doctor here but, I recently switched medical plans and get my eye exams at Keiser now. However, the customer service, knowledge, friendliness, and honesty have kept me here for my eyeglass purchases. I had purchases a pair from them before I switched to Keiser and the frames broke. As I was shopping for a new pair with Keiser, they suggested I look into the warrantee before committing. So, I went to the Eyecare Center to see if they could do anything for me. Well, lucky me, the warrantee still had some time on it. Here's the great thing. They looked at my lenses and saw some scratching. They TOLD ME that the lenses were covered as well. So, the outcome was that I basically got a FREE new pair of glasses due to their honest assessment of the situation. Frankly, if they had said the warrantee was up I would have happily accepted that as I'd had the glasses for almost 2 years. I certainly didn't expect the lenses to be covered for scratches after two years of constant use! Bottom line is I strongly recommend these guys. I just ordered a new pair (new prescription) from them and they patiently took the time and made the effort to work with me towards a set of frames I'd be happy with, even though I hadn't gotten my eye exam there. The whole experience didn't work well for my wife and me. We both thought it a rather bizarre experience. Being retired neither of us has optical insurance so we pay out of pocket. I felt as if we almost, not quite, had to argue to get an examination because we don't have insurance. In hindsight, we should have walked out. The exam I received was not as thorough as I've experienced elsewhere. I paid my bill but I'll be returning to my former eye care provider who knows I'm responsible when it comes to paying my bill. I absolutely adore The Eyecare Center, Dr Jones is amazing with my entire family. Esp my son who has a hard time with his vision, she's very patient and kind. I couldn't say enough good things about Shawn in the eyeglasses dept, she is the absolute best. She is the gem of this business, her customer service, go getter attitude, caring nature and overall positive vibe is something you don't always come into contact with. I adore her and her ability to get things done, even if someone else has made a mistake on your glasses order or the lens don't fit from the lab, she will take care of you and let you know how much she appreciates you. This review is directed at the receptionist that answers the phone. She is so rude. Is it necessary to have a power trip over patients that call? Why do I feel like I am begging for an appointment. Last time I called they gave me such a hard time over my prescription and contact lens. The doctor prescribed it, and I was just trying to get a matching prescription. The receptionist insisted that's the way it is. I ended up giving up and calling back a few weeks later and was lucky that I actually got another receptionist that would listen and fixed my contact lens order. I liked the doctors but they need to hire better receptionist that aren't so rude, impatient, and have a superiority complex. read more

I really like Dr. Urbaniak so much that I followed her from Queen Anne To Bellevue! The Eyecare Center clinic is great - it's pretty large and they have several patient exam rooms. It felt clean and well kept. I was helped with selecting glasses frames which fit my face shape by a nice man. Then an older gentleman was in charge of my fitting and adjustments which did take several appointments. He was ok but not very helpful or validating when I needed help determining how to know if my RX was too strong. Overall I would recommend this clinic. read more

This time the eye care center was great. I think what I love is that I get help with the frames so that I get the best fit on where it sits. I have seen two doctors there, Dr. Angela and Dr.Kwong which were both great. This time they a bigger selection on asian fit glasses. If I could give this place 10 stars - I would do it. My first visit was with Dr. Angela Jones for a regular eye check. She is very caring and went above and beyond helping me with my eye dryness, as well as thoroughly checking the internals of my eyes to make sure everything is fine as I have a history of elevated eyeball pressure. Couple of weeks down the road, I had a crazy headache and was sure that's because of the pressure. Called in the office, and reception desk was super helpful and had me seen by Dr. Susan Kwong an hour later. Dr. Kwong ran multiple tests, checked my vision and provided with 3 different options of eyedrops right away to fight the pressure, they literally saved my vision by seeing and treating me on time. I can't express how thankful I am, I am you customer and biggest fan for life! read more

I recently had to relocate my care because of a new job and residence, so I figured I could write a positive review here in hopes it might replace my business with a new patient. I've had high eye pressure and other anomalous issues that have perplexed eye-care physicians for most of my life, and the consistent treatment I received at The Eyecare Center was through and professional. I've been coming to this eye clinic for 27 years. Nowadays, my husband and kids come here. I even got my in laws about 10 years ago to go and they are still patients! We drive over an hour for our exams. I'm always happy with the doctors, they are gentle and caring. They always talk us through the procedure and they take the time to educate us about our eyes. My issue is with glasses sales people and whoever takes orders over the phone for contacts. There are three of us in my immediate family who wear contacts and glasses and ordering from this clinic is just short of a nightmare. The girl who answers the phone is always rude and condescending and the salesman who has been there since I was a child is short and rude. However, I did have a good experience with the nice girl who does the contact rebates. I want to reiterate the doctors are wonderful and trustworthy. Support staff, not so much. read more

To be honest I LOVED the doctor but the rest of the service was TERRIBLE. After I was finished with my exams the person who makes the glasses (older man) kept grabbing glasses for me to try on because HE thought they would look nice. Ones that I kept saying were not my style, even after trying them on, he kept trying to convince me to get because HE liked them. He kept putting them on my face for me like I was a child and wouldn't let me put them on myself. I finally said I was just going to sit and wait for my boyfriend to get there to help me decide. He still kept coming over and putting glasses on my face. Once I decided on a pair he started adding all these things to them like "oh these are the best lenses for optics, oh you work with computers so this would be a better coating" and added it all up and handed it to me to go pay. my insurance pays $160 for glasses and it still came to a $150 out of pocket. EVEN WORSE! I got to the front desk and the lady there looked at my form and started saying "oh it looks like they forgot to charge you for this, this this and this" all kinds of stuff making my total around $250 out of pocket. when I said "woo I cant do that, I cant do the glasses then. " she gave me all kinds of attitude, pulled my checkbook from me and said I had to pay at least half of it and talked to me like I was stupid. I've never felt more disrespected, pressured and obligated in my life. I've had ALL of the same procedures done at other eye doctors with the same plan and never paid anything out of pocket. and that's with getting all exams, contacts and glasses. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Beaulaurier for over 10 years, and he and Dr. Rumpf are as good as it gets. Not only are the appointments extremely prompt (it's unusual for you to wait more than 5 minutes past your appointed time to get taken back), but more thorough than most optometry practices in terms of equipment and technology. The doctors themselves take plenty of time to get to know you, to chat, and to do a very in-depth examination of your eyes, and take the time to explain findings at the end. Every prescription for contact lenses i've received from Dr. Beaulaurier have been absolutely perfect, and they encourage you to sample a few different kinds of new contact lenses to see if any work better for you. He then takes the time to adjust, sample different kinds, and get you the perfect pair. Both of these doctors inspired me enough over the years to look into this career field for myself, and thanks in part to the experiences I've had with them over the years, I'm now a second year optometry student :) I've now had the opportunity to shadow many different doctors at many offices, and I still hold The Eyecare Center as the 'gold standard' of optometry practices to this day. And though I get free eye exams at my school, I still choose to see Dr. Beaulaurier every year-- his prescriptions still give me the clearest vision :) read more

I have seen Dr. Rumpf for a number of years. I think he is phenomenal. I don't like the "pouf" test, so he has another way of seeing into my eyes that is not nearly as bad. Someone mentioned that the girls in the office weren't very friendly. I noticed that a couple of years ago, but certainly didn't when I went in March, 2011. Sometimes it can be just one person in an office setting that sets everyone off. At any rate, they seemed very friendly, kind and caring now. I have VSP insurance and the lenses have to be made at a lab specified by VSP. I did have some trouble with my lenses this time around, but it sounds like it was the labs problem. The issue has dealt with in a timely manor. I would recommend the Eyecare Center to others! read more

These guys don't give respect to customers, have been there couple of times it's same behavior, I was there with my 2 years old kid, we have been standing there for 30 min and selected glasses too, opthomologist was there he said wait and goes inside and he did for 5 times...he didnt even asked us to sit, think they dicrmenate based on race. Outstanding service on every level from these folks - highly recommended. Dr. Beaulaurier is about as good as it gets. He's personable and puts patients immediately at ease; he's also highly professional and thorough about double-checking potentially important issues. He took the time to explain what he was doing and to answer my questions - and never with any hint of being rushed or pressed for time. Everyone on the staff with whom I dealt was equally professional. There wasn't much to do except sign some forms since, as recommended, I completed my other forms online prior to the appointment. There were no surprises and no unexpected costs. The process of selecting my glasses was equally pleasant and professional. I picked a few, and so did the optician - after getting his advice on what types of frames would work best with my prescription. I knew exactly what I was purchasing above and beyond my insurance allowances, and the optician took great care to ensure my glasses would be fitted properly - a major concern with the types of lenses I needed. Also note that after hearing about my last experience with new glasses (a disaster) Dr. Beaulaurier made it clear that I could try my glasses for a couple of weeks and decide whether they were working as promised. If I needed to start over with a different pair, he said he'd take back the first pair and let me start over with my full VSP allowance. That's an extraordinary confidence-building measure that shows how seriously he takes quality of care in his practice. Like most reasonable people, when I see a few one-star Yelp reviews in a sea of four- and five-start reviews, I view the former with a critical eye. I think that's a reasonable approach here; the good reviews align much more closely to my own experience than the small number of negative reviews. In addition, a couple of the negatives indicate ignorance of the fitting process for glasses, or of the need for multiple takes on some of the eye imaging tests, more than they sound like legitimate quality of care issues. Eye care, in my experience, is an aspect of healthcare that is especially vulnerable to inconsistent quality of care, sloppy service and a conveyor-belt mentality when serving patients. My experience at the Eye Care Clinic suffered from none of these problems; it was first-rate in every way, and I can recommend these folks without reservation. read more

I had a great experience with The Eyecare center and Dr. Kwong. Generally everyone is friendly, and I had a few visits - one for my eye exam, another to check how my contacts fit, and a third to pick up the contacts when they arrived. While they're spread a little thin at lunch time, what office isn't? Waiting a few minutes for quality service doesn't bother me and they seem to move pretty quickly. The best part about this place (other than that they accept my insurance) is that they don't dilate your eyes. Instead they use this machine to look inside your eyes making dilation unnecessary - and be honest, who wants that done?! it does cost $10, but it's worth it to me to avoid dilation. The most interesting part was the explanation of the images. I have pretty good eyesight but I have an astigmatism, so my prescription is minimal...but I hate feeling like I have to squint to try, and fail to see. I really love sunglasses. I wish I could wear them all the time (but I hate the sun...now that's an interesting realization). But with glasses I could only wear my prescription sunglasses, which was a bummer. After finding contacts that came in my piddly prescription, Dr. Kwong fitted me for contacts that make me so very happy. All in all, a wonderful experience each and every time. read more

When I compared contact prices with Costco they were the same. Even if they were more the way they deal with patients is TOP SHELF I wouldn't go anywhere else. We have been going here since we moved to Bellevue. The Doctors are friendly and knowledgable. Most importantly they are patient. My youngest son has Autism and they work with him to get his eyes checked. I love that they have both letters and NUMBER chart for him! He loves numbers and so that rocked his world and wanted his eye exam to go ON for a long time. My kids have a great time playing in their play area. The glasses selection isn't the greatest but it gets the job done, especially since I have to have progressives. The sales reps are hit or miss. I loved the lady that helped me last time but I try to steer away from the gentlemen cause they are "forgetful", ie forgot to add the computer screen covering. But glasses always come back before the quoted time. They were especially helpful and flexible the time I cut my eye. read more

Great experience with Dr. B! Plus, the whole staff seemed super friendly and easy to work with. They even checked in on me while I was waiting for Dr. B, to see if I needed water or a magazine--super sweet! They have a huge selection of frames to choose from, which I appreciate! FYI: They use a machine, you pay extra $10 for, instead of dilating your eyes. I hate having my eyes dilated, so I didn't mind, but you may want to know about that option. My optician was great and helped me pick out cute frames; I like that she was super honest about how they looked on me and that she didn't push expensive product on me--thank you. My only suggestion: when a client picks&purchases their eye wear, tangibly & visually show them on paper the break down of the costs, what insurance covers, and what features are included. This helps us make the best decision regarding our eye wear as well as makes us feel good about the process. Overall, great experience and happy client! read more

I've been coming to The Eyecare Center for nearly 20 years. In fact, I make a special trip to Bellevue each year to see Dr B. And his team as I now live in the greater LA area. The service is efficient and they use the latest in Eyecare technology. And it's convenient, as you can purchase your glasses right there. There technicians are wonderful to work with. Can't comment on their doctors, I got my prescription here a couple years ago. This time, I went somewhere else for a new prescription, but came back here for my frames & lenses. Boy, was that a mistake. Miserable selection of frames, and they take two weeks to make! I need my glasses to drive, so they assured me my order would be expedited. Two weeks later, I get the call that they're ready. I show up to pick them up on my way to work, and I'm asked to wait "just a minute" so a doctor can clean and fit them for me. After ten minutes, I just took my glasses and left. If you have all the time in the world, this place is good enough. The staff is friendly and the place is nice and clean. But if you have any sort of schedule to keep, I recommend somewhere else. read more

Now, on to the review: I've been getting my eyes checked at The Eyecare Center for about 6 years. Each time, I'm ready to hear Those Words...someday, I know I will have to pick a set of frames that will define my personality.. In fact, this place was recommended to me because of the great help they give when picking frames. (I think I'll be nervous when that time comes...good to know I'll have a fashion advisor there for me..) Anyway...Don't be afraid to get your vision checked! "Oh, I don't want my pupils dilated!" you say...? Pshaw! This place doesn't dilate your pupils! Nope. They've got high-tech equipment to test all aspects of your vision - without dilating your pupils! When I brought my (then)6 year old in to get his eyes checked, the technicians explained that looking through the machines was like playing a videogame. My son wasn't scared at all. (And hooray! He doesn't need glasses - yet! ;) The location is great & easy to find - it's off of 8th street, in a one-story office building (or is it more like a small strip mall?), with plenty of parking out front. My husband and I both saw Dr. Lindberg at different occasions this month for our routine eye exam. The doctor was prompt, 2 min waiting time on both occasions, and he doesn't push unnecessary products on you or try to get you to use more expensive stuff. He took a lot of time with the eye exam and checking my power and did a retinal dilation for me as well, as a precaution. He was knowledgeable answered all my questions patiently, never made me feel like he was in a hurry. My husband had a great experience as well. The reception staff is friendly and helpful as well. Do not look elsewhere if you are looking for top notch quality service! First, I called to make an appointment for an eye exam , contact lens exams & fitting. Marsha was the gal on the phone and she walked me through the process, she was efficient! She asked for an insurance so there would be no surprises. I told her I don't have it with me and will give her a call back. An hour later, call back to speak to her and another gal assist me and told me that Marsha had left a note on my last call to speak to her. There was no confusion or had to re-explain myself. Got me in an appointment the next day at 2pm with Dr.Linbergh Show up the next day, and their schedule was on time! I had zero wait. I had pre check up where they asked about medical history and blood pressure check. ( I forgot the gentlemen name) He accidentally grab the wrong patient, but he realized very quickly and apologize. Another assistant drop by in a few min for my file. There were no sign of stress or hicks up. The team handle it very professionally. When all is done, I was in the waiting room less than 5min to wait for Dr.Linbergh and they even offered me water. Lastly, DR.Linbergh visit was outstanding. He was really genuine and friendly. I felt really bad for having a bad eye sight and that exam took pretty long going back and forth ( 1 or 2, left or right, let's do this again, you know how it goes) , but he was very patience with me, not rushing me. My visit ended with an envelope with a full itemized receipts, credit card copy, Laminated prescription and a list of contact lens pricing. Going for more than 5 years and the last experience was terrible, front desk ladies were nice, Dr was nice too, but the person in charge or assistance the one to perform the first eye exams was so rude with my son and me, incredibly rude. And about the glasses... we still waiting to have it, first 3 weeks and they ordered a wrong size, and now we have to wait 4 more weeks, a month in order to have my son's glassses. read more
