What do you say about a studio that has nothing but 5-star ratings? LOL. Well anyway ... I insist on adding to the heap. John was absolutely excellent from the time I booked the appointment to the time I left the studio. His demeanor is professional, caring, and warm. He exudes a unique energy that is felt in his hands as well - kind of a clean/respectful/inspiring masculine energy. I could sense that he had been in service to others for a long time and that he loved it, like a bartender or chef that really takes pride in his craft. I got the hot stone treatment and the aromatherapy. These two additions were like the icing on the cake - I recommend both to everyone. During my massage I experienced some spiritual enlightenment. I had specifically come to him on a spiritual journey and he was able to cater to this very seamlessly. He has a background in yoga and was open-minded to listening to my problem and helping determine things he could do (and things I could do to help me after the massage was over). I saw many visions of very comfortable almost exotic scenes during the massage, almost like pieces of art that were created in this dream state I found myself in. They appeared to further instill serenity, and mesh with the very cool energy that was already inherently in the room. I was reconnected with some very positive memories during the feeling of negative energy release that happened through his work too. I was just very impressed overall with what happened during the session, and I truly believe it was because of John's insistence of making the session "about you." Started off good, I will say the owner Jon is very great and helpful with booking the appointment. He scheduled me with a lady named Rebecca. DO NOT see her. As soon as I walked in, she was extremely unprofessional. She was sitting back in a chair and said "hold on, I'm playing candy crush." Coming from a Spa from Biltmore, I would never expect to be treated like this. She put me in the room, left the balcony door open, and constantly kept talking to me. Not relaxing at all. Said she has been doing this for 15 years total but did not seem professional at all. I told her I wanted to focus on my back and that's it. She pressed so hard on my neck and shoulders that I'm still in pain. When I was done, I noticed she only gave me a 60 minute massage not 90. I was going to say something to her but honestly, I just wanted to get out. It has been 2 weeks since this has happened. I wanted to give it some time to see if it's just because I got a deep tissue but I shouldn't still be in pain. My whole right side of my neck and my back is killing me along with having constant headaches. Best. Massage. Ever. I felt restored after my massage and John really customizes the massage to your needs. I have had massages that were predictable and by the book. This is not the case here. This was the first massage I've ever had. A little about me, I'm naturally nervous and do not feel comfortable around strangers; and I definitely don't want them to touch me. Today was different though. I spent the previous night, in so much pain, that I was never able to fall asleep. My lower back was pinched, and my neck and shoulders were extremely tight. I was not going to be able to make it through the day on no sleep, and in this much pain. Thank god I found John on yelp and was able to book an appointment the same day. My desperate search for relief from the pain lead me to Space Massage Studio. Because I was so nervous, I almost didn't make the appointment. After reading so many positive reviews, I felt confident enough in my decision to trust John with my relief. John is a very kind, and calm individual. He took the time before the massage to help me feel comfortable. He was very interested in creating a space for me to relax as much as possible; so that I could get relief from the pain. The experience was wonderful! I started off super tense and unable to calm my mind. By the end of the 60 minute massage I felt rejuvenated, at peace, and John had worked out so much of the tension that I was able to fall asleep. I walked in nervous, and left wishing the massage didn't have to end. I told my husband this is the only place I will ever go if he wants to book a massage for me in the future. I even told my mom about it and I plan to bring her here next time she comes to visit me. WOW,WOW,WOW...John is amazing! He knows how to treat his customers, his prices are very reasonable, he takes the time to get to know you first and find out what your expectations are. He has a very calming personality that just relaxes you before he even starts the massage. What makes John so good at what he does is the fact that he has training in several types of massage techniques. You will not be disappointed. I wish I lived close by, I would see him on a regular basis. I am in town visiting from Georgia. I am a high level cyclist with back and neck issues. He claims not to be a miracle worker, but I think a few more visits to him and I would feel like new again. He is very attentive to whatever needs the most work, which for me is usually my back and shoulders since I am a hairstylist.
