BEWARE...if your spa leaks while under warranty (and ours has mutliple times in the first few months of purchasing a brand new one) you can expect the following: an $85 trip fee each time they come out even to fix a problem that is COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, a service crew that keeps no parts on their truck, a 2-3 week wait for parts to come in, a serviceman that tells you not to worry about the damage to the wood under the spa, and HUGE water bills. This company's incompetence has caused us to leak gallons and gallons of water during a drought and while paying So Cal's ridiculous water rates. We have to refill the spa every few days or risk burning the motor out. Our money is literally going down the drain for weeks on end each time the spa leaks. My salesman was Bobby. He was knowledgeable about the product, but is very ADHD and is all over the place. I was told it was 8-10 weeks for production that turned into 13 weeks. Bobby did not communicate at all. He changed the delivery date on me 3 times and only after I contacted him. In the end he just stopped responding to my emails. Really? I spent $7k, was told 8-10 weeks but took 13, and he decides he is not going to respond. Completely frustrated, I called the shop and asked for anyone other then Bobby. Randy answered the phone and easily took care of everything. Buyer beware: if you do business with this company stay away from Bobby! After they deliver the spa the delivery guy fills it up and puts in chemicals. I thought, great it is ready to go. I read the manual the first night and discovered you have to use hard water or it can damage the spa. It says NEVER use soft water, but they never asked or checked. Therefore on day 2 I was draining my new hot tub and starting all over again. There has to be a better option out there. read more

Best spa buying experience ever. I did not even have to leave my house. I was able to pick my spa, the colors, and have it delivered and set up at my house. Randy took care of the transaction from start to finish and made this a most enjoyable experience. I originally wanted a used spa, but someone went and bought it first. I did some research and decided I wanted the Nordic crown XL and Randy made it happen. I've been using the spa everyday and I am grateful that SpaMax was the company I chose to use. read more

Beware. This company is actively removing bad reviews. I had a miserable experience with them a few years ago and come to find my original review has been removed. The short story is they fed me a bunch of lies that were discovered upon taking delivery of the tub. When I confronted Randy he became very unprofessional and began acting like a child and asked if I wanted to fight. Seriously. When i first purchased the tub he was making comments about if hes allowed to go drink yet...around 1pm. These guys are a bunch of clowns / borderline scam artists. To discredit bad reviews they claim they cant find a name on the database, then tries to have reviews removed which they 100% did with mine - that also included a lot more details. The sales process at Spa Max, with Randy Torres, was outstanding. He took time to educate my son and me on the differences between spas and he was the OPPOSITE of a high-pressure sales person. He wanted to be sure we purchased something we would be happy with. The delivery process went smoothly, but after the install crew left, the spa started leaking very badly. I was, of course, concerned (considering that a spa purchase is a big investment). I called Spa Max and left a message for Randy. Within 30 minutes, Carl Winters (service supervisor) called me back. He was very helpful in finding an initial leak, but that did not solve the problem. Carl traveled to my home (75 miles from Spa Max). He and Raymond spent 2 hours going over the entire spa, correcting the remaining issues, and making sure that everything was working properly. They also provided good advice on spa maintenance. So, in spite of some significant issues, Spa Max deserves a 5-star rating for their responsiveness, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction. Spa Max will be attempting to sell a Catalina 16 foot swim spa. Know that this unit is the one that I purchased, that they drove to my home and refused to deliver. They did not disclose prior to damage to the end panel on the spa. They were not honest with me, these are not good people, what they are doing is unprofessional and unethical. Anyone who looks at this unit, know that it is damaged. They lack the knowledge and skill to deliver a swim spa to a home, therefore I return the swim spa, requested a full refund, cancelled anything that has to do with their company, this purchase, Etc. I stand behind my review. More time went by and Rick contacted me and gave me a FULL REFUND. Yes - after MONTHS and endless calls and emails - I was made whole. Well I don't appreciate the time and amount of effort it took for me to get there, I do appreciate that the right thing was finally done. I had always planned on updating my review to two or three stars given this, however I thought it was only right that Rick wait the same amount of time for that update that I did for his response and refund. In the meantime, I recently received a CEASE AND DESIST letter from a legal firm representing Rick and threatening to SUE me for this review. So much for freedom of speech and the rights of the consumer, eh? When I logged on to finally update my review, I noticed that Rick has updated this posting to send my home address out into cyber space. Tsk Tsk Rick - that's not okay. If you want to reach out to me like an adult and treat me with respect as opposed to threatening me with legal action or publishing my personal address, maybe we could've gotten somewhere... The owner has worked pretty hard to try and correct this. It took a fair amount of back and forth between him and my husband. My interactions still weren't fantastic. I'd get an email from him every couple of months, I'd reply and it'd go ignored. All in all it took almost a year to get things straightened out, but it's straightened out. Ok, so I had been flirting with the idea of buying a spa for over 2 years. I even designed my back yard around the eventual elusive spa by pouring the slab, running the conduit and strategically planting trees around the area for privacy. Fast forward 2 years and the hunt is on. I went to a couple of fairs and home show type places that sold spas but I always felt like I arrived on a used car lot with them trying to sell me on the last model on the last day of the best sale they have ever had. I found Rick's online and saw he was pretty close to my neighborhood so I dragged the wife and kids in the car and off we went. The store is in a warehouse area on the south side of the 91 fwy in Corona. Upon entering the front odors you see yourself standing in front of a vast warehouse filled with about 100 spa's, new ones around the edges and used ones on the middle. We were allowed to wander around looking without a sales person rushing toward us as if seeing his next meal walk through the door. We were eventually greeted by Randy who spent about 30 minutes with us explaining how spas work and helped us focus in on what we wanted as apposed to what he wanted to sell us. With our questions answered we left without purchasing a spa but we did leave with a long lasting positive experience. Fast forward another 4 weeks and it was time to pull the trigger on a spa. We went back to Rick's and looked for Randy but he was was off so Rick himself came and helped us. Rick was very courteous and walked us around the showroom 2 times until we found the spa that was right for us. We bought the spa. Delivery happened 3 days later and the guys were able to get it in and installed in about 2 hours. After a couple days of use I noticed a some of the jets were not working and the wi-if was not installed as ordered. Here comes the true test, I called Rick's about my issues and they had a tech out there in 1 day to address the issues. Come to find out it was a CalSpa manufacturer error so they contacted CalSpa and within a week CalSpa was at my house making the corrections. Rick's service rep kept me in the loop everyday with the status of the repairs and made it his mission to make sure I was completely satisfied. All in all I highly recommend Rick's spas as they gave me personal service and stood by their product from day one. read more

I am torn on what to rate Spa Max because over my handful of interactions with them, I had two completely opposite sides of the spectrum experiences with them. (For reference, We came in twice. Once we spoke with only Bobby and and the second time we spoke to a different guy first, then Bobby again.) Bobby is amazing and I wish he got commission because he was a wealth of knowledge and so patient and kind!! He alone deserves 5 stars. The other salesman that was working (and I'm kicking myself for not getting his name) was insanely rude. Not only to me but I overheard him do the same mansplaining bit to another female customer. He is an older man with dark tan skin and salt/pepper hair. I came in and wanted to discuss what factors play into the price of a tub, so I could determine which aspects were important to me (ex: materials, size, lounge vs no lounge seat, brand, etc)... so I ask him this question and he looks at me like I am the stupidest person alive and in the rudest tone ever said "ummm the cost determines the price." And my husband and I just stared at him like is this real life? That's your first impression you're gunna give us? Thanks for mansplaining the basics of retail pricing dude. I almost turned and walked out because I know for a fact he wouldn't have responded that way if my husband had asked the same question. I replied with so you're telling me acrylic and plastic are the same? And he goes "well plastic is cheaper" and I'm looking at him like YEAH HENCE MY QUESTION REGARDING FACTORS THAT DETERMINE PRICING? ANYWAY, I asked Bobby the same things and had an excellent conversation with him. We did end up purchasing a hot tub solely because of his kindness and knowledge. If the manager reads this--give Bobby a raise and kick that other guy to the curb. We knew exactly what we were looking for, so Rick was able to show us several models that fit our criteria. We purchased the spa, cover, warranty and delivery package. The spa was delivered to our home at my convenience within the time frame quoted by Randy. The two gentlemen that delivered the spa were professionals as well, and installed it in our backyard without issue. I can't say that I was pleased for much of last year, but after some back and forth with the owner and the technician, they really bent over backwards to make it right. This makes me optimistic, maybe my issues were an exception and not the rule --- as they spent far more making me happy than they would have saved by 'cutting corners' at the beginning. If it would be possible to give a less than one star for the customer service that I received I would do it. Purchasing a spa was great but once it was delivered it did not have pressure on one side. After a few calls they sent out a technician who said the Jacuzzi was fine. After me explaining that there is no pressure Bobby said he would get back to me after calling the vendor. It's been 2 1/2 months I've called at least six times and been put off every time. They are blaming the manufacture, never return my calls, horrible, horrible, horrible, customer service. I'm extremely upset. I spent nearly $6,000 for a Spa that we got delivered in mid December. We are very busy and don't get to have free time too often also we are not too savvy when it comes to spas. However, the next day after the spa was delivered we noticed a pool of water around the bottom base of the spa. Unfortunately it was after hours so I called the very next day and was told the various reasons it could be and to check them and if not we could get a repair placed. I then tried those suggestions, and had to leave out due to a business trip. I come back from my trip and notice the spa lost a lot of water. We call the repair order and Carl contacted us and told us it was a leaky jet and he would order the part. About 2 weeks later (give or take a few days) he calls to tell us the part came in and scheduled a repair for the following week on a weekday. I have another business trip and wasn't able to check the spa until I got back and noticed it was still leaking. I then call and place another order ticket and when they came out about a week later they said it was the jets still. They come back about a week later once the part came in and repaired it. The rains were here and I couldn't properly identify if the spa was leaking or if the rain was the reason by backyard was saturated. I waited for the rain to clear and I contacted SpaMax again to inform them of the leak still occurring. Carl contacts me a few days later to setup the repairs but by this time I'm gone again for business (I can't just sit and wait 6 months for them to repair my damn spa) anyways I was unable to respond for a few weeks (so this time It's me that didn't respond timely but I can't keep spending so much time on this, they should have fixed it before they ever delivered or on first call). Anyways they come out again in May and this time I'm near the end of my "6 month" warranty and they now tried blaming on rodent damage. Let me tell you multiple neighbors connected behind and beside me have spas and do not have rodents and when they said this so-called lie there was not even one sign of rodents, no nest, no droppings nothing. They said they would fix it and now the heating issues that we encountered. Here comes a few weeks later almost exact end of our warranty and I'm here housing a follow up, I texted for an update and got told Friday 6/7 that the parts came in and would get a call for a schedule which never happened. Now I texted over the weekend because 6 months now I have not been able to use my bad $6,000 investment and I'm quite upset. Now they are trying to tell me they will come with jet repair but will not fix the rodent damage. These are all lies and if they cannot correct it I will need to involve a 3rd party to get our spa issues resolved. I kindly asked for a 6 month extension but they will not allow this and I think that's fair considering all I have been through and not even been able to use the spa. They must be afraid since the spa hasn't worked since Day 1 it likely won't work at all after 6 months (is my only assumption). Make it right and fix the situation don't lie and say it's something when it's not. I bought a spa from these guys about 7 years ago. It was delivered promptly, and before it got here, they had replaced everything that was wrong including the the control panel. During the warranty period, our heater went out and they replaced that too. Not as fast as I would like, but nonetheless they honored the warranty. Fast forward to last year... I had good luck with them and wanted to upgrade my spa. I bought one with many more jets and cost quite a bit more than the first one. And the nightmare begins... It was a fancy spa with the speakers sticking up. It had no cover, so they said they would order the cover, it will be done in two weeks and we will deliver then. 2 weeks goes by, call for an update. They say they will check, and never call back. A week goes by no call. I call them. They say they have the cover, but can't deliver until next week (9 days later). When they deliver it, it goes smoothly until we turn it on snd the water features don't work. The installers get 1 working and say the dont have the tool for the other two, and they will send out a guy. A week goes by, no call no show, I call them and they say " oops". Repair guy will call. Repair guy doesnt call. I call back and finally the guy comes and fixes it. In the mean time I call and complain about the cover it is not right. There are huge uncovered spots where the speakers are. You would expect to have to do some adjusting there right? But these gaps are 16 inch by 10 inch holes. HUGE. They say they will make a new one. I am an engineer and my daughter is a design engineer, while waiting for the guy to come fix the water features, we make a corrugated paper board mock up for the cover maker. When repair guy gets here, he fixes the jets and takes the mock ups for the cover repair, I called the store and spoke with my salesman, he said no need to send the cover, he will use our pattern and make us a new cover, then never hear from him again. This is like a whole different company. Their customer service has sunk from A to F. I would never buy a product from them again EVER. You can't trust that your spa will work right or that they will stand by their warranty. This cover is so bad, I may as well not have one. Heater runs constantly. Now I guess I have to find someone to make a cover at my expense read more

My wife and I needed to replace our 20 y/o used Spa, so we figured we would check out Rick's Superstore! We were taken back by the huge number of spas set up to view, of all makes and models! Since we had great luck with our last used spa, we were not adverse to a used spa! Rick himself took us around and patiently explained the differences between makes and we settled on a late model Cal Spas "Pacifica 44"! It was delivered and after it was filled there were a few minor issues (speaker lead wires came loose during transit). Ricks guys came back within a few days and quickly fixed the problem! I am extremely pleased with the service this company exhibited! I told one of my fellow vanpoolers about my experience and she took her husband down there and they bought a new spa! Was looking for an above ground pool. They have a few on display so I could see. I've been looking at cheap ones but after talking to Randy I really understand the difference between the cheap ones and Splash brand. As luck would have it our neighbor had an old Splash pool that sat empty for many many years. After calling Randy I thought he would tell me to forget it and come buy brand new. But he did not! He was so supportive and said we will most likely be fine and helped us every step of the way to clean and set up Over phone. This is my 4TH review and still no reply. Rick has not reached out to me in an attempt to correct this matter. It is left up to the guys in the store. 22 K for a spa AND I have NEVER received my pool manual to this day. The pool has been set at 60 degrees and it reaches temperatures of high 90s even during the WINTER. I should not have to pay for high electric bills let alone have a pool way to hot to use. In all reality this was almost a 3 star review, but after lots of thought I've decided to round up as over all we are happy with out experience buying a used jacuzzi spa at Rick's. We did purchase an extended warranty, so I may update this review good or bad on any future service issues we may encounter. Firstly, you will not find a bigger selection of new and used spas in one place, period. Well worth the drive to Corona. They will deliver and service a spa anywhere in southern California, so you owe it to yourself to check it out. As many have stated, the sales staff here are very low pressure and accommodating. We worked with Randy, and after 3 hours of shopping he was very good at working a deal and making the arrangements for our delivery. I do feel that they are definitely more focused on the sales side of things, as a few balls were dropped after our purchase that were a little frustrating. Firstly, the cover we received with our spa was the wrong size, and we needed to wait another few weeks for a replacement. I understand these things happen, but it should have been easy enough for them to double check the dimensions and model number before delivery. Secondly, I had requested that the spa be delivered/configured for 60amp service, and even called and checked to confirm this the day before delivery because I wasn't available to be there when it was going to be delivered. Well it wasn't set up as requested when delivered, so I had to wait for them to deliver the new cover to configure the jumpers correctly. When the service techs did show up, they seemed unprepared to do the actual jumper settings, and had to google it on their phones on the spot. That being said, they were friendly and did do the required work, I just felt that there either wasn't good communication between the sales staff and delivery service people, or nobody really took my requests seriously because it seems that if I hadn't been double/triple checking none of my requests would have been met. Neither of these are big deals, and in the end everybody was pleasant and helpful. Lastly, we did have a diverter handle break, but Rick's sent us a replacement in the mail quickly. I would also have liked it if Rick's could have provided more initial insight and guidance as to the actual set up and maintenance of the spa. We were basically given a spa frog system, and that was it. I do think the spa fog is a really good choice, but it's not all that's needed, and it should be a part of a proper complete setup and maintenance routine. I had to do a lot of research to educate myself as to the correct way to set up and maintain a spa and it's chemistry. It's not scary, and it's not too hard but there are definitely some basics that could be made aware to clients about the right way to do things, and it's definitely more than just fill the spa, throw in some powder and a floater. I highly recommend testing your water prior to your installation, and being prepared with the correct bromine starter chemical's, shock, acid/base, and a decent test kit for Calcium hardness, alkalinity, pH, bromine/chilorine at a minimum. Owning a spa does require a bit of maintenance and work, and I recommend doing plenty of googling and research prior to your delivery so you can be prepared as possible... Or just pay somebody to do it for you. I feel that it's important to outline these issues, as I know Rick reads these reviews and I hope that he reads my concerns as constructive criticism. I will end on a positive note and say that my wife and I are both very happy with our purchase. Our used tub looks and performs as new, was a great value, and is used almost daily! Very honest, and very transparent. Prior to looking for spas I decided I needed to go to Spa Max after watching the owner's videos on there website. The videos are very informative and Rick seems to be very honest. I found that to be the case when I went into the showroom. Most spa dealers only sell one brand and tell you theirs is the best in the world. Rick has lots of models and tells you they are all good, and helps you decide based on what you want and what you can afford. They are not pushy. I live out of state, so I am not going to buy from them, shipping is prohibitively expensive.. Even knowing they would not have a sale, Rick and his sales person, Bobby, spent at least 30 minutes with me showing me different models, sizes, and features. They would have spent more time if I had more questions. If I lived near Spa Max I wouldn't waste my time going anywhere else to buy a spa. read more

Today we went to the "Spa Show" at the Los Angels Fairplex (fairgrounds) in Pomona. After paying for parking we found the "Show" was a SINGLE manufacturer (Master Spa) displaying a variety of their models. Very disappointing and perhaps radio advertising that was misleading. Looked around on the Internet, Craigslist, etc., found Rick's and drove 35 minutes to Corona to discover a huge selection of hot-tubs, new and refurbished from a variety of manufactures. Rick's was much more of a "Show" than the "Spa Show" at the Fairplex! Rick's refurbished spas do show some wear-and-tear, as you would reasonably expect, and most come with a six month warranty. Thanks to Bobby our non-pushy, very knowledgeable and experienced (in the spa business for at least 15 years) sales person who spent several hours intermittently answering all our questions. We purchased a large refurbished spa for $2,000, plus $500 for steps, a spa cover and delivery. Very worth the the additional time and mileage. It's been about 3.5 months since we bought our used hot tub from Rick's and we are even happier now than when we bought it. We needed a couple things fixed on the hot tub and the guy they sent out fixed our problems in about an hour and was very helpful. Then we had some parts (the diverter handles) that the paint was flaking off of and Randy found replacements for us (brand new) and gave them to us. He also answered our questions about keeping the water clean and that was also a big help. Coolest part for me: When we told Randy about the parts with the paint flaking off he said he would replace them for us and would get back to us. I figured I wouldn't hear from him again unless I called him, but that wasn't the case at all. He called about a week later and said they were waiting on the parts. He called just to give me an update and I was pretty floored. They had already sold us the hot tub, they got the money out of us that they wanted, and he was still willing to call us simply to update us that a part was delayed. That's pretty cool. We bought a spa in July and we are very happy with it. They educated us in the difference between a real spa and a cheap one that you get from Costco. They were very good at working around our schedules for the delivery....they arranged a crane for us too. We also had a couple LEDs that went out early on and they were quick to come out and service the lights for free. Something you cannot get from Costco. read more

Got our hot tub from them a while back. I had some issues on my end with the area being ready and they worked with me to change the delivery date, took care of the change for the crane. When delivery day arrived, it was seamless. However, when we turned it on, water started spraying everywhere from underneath the hot tub. It looked like a motor broke from the support plate, damaged one of the motors, the pvc pipe was banged up, the insulation was cracked. It had been banging around for awhile and was not just from the delivery from Spa Max to my house. I called Spa Max, the owner told me that given the issues, he could get me a new hot tub to replace the one that was delivered. It took a total of 3 emails and some awesome customer service. Got my new hot tub, they got it set up, it works great, and we love it. I've never bought a spa before but everything was awesome and I appreciated the help in fixing a problem that could have been a real downer. read more

Walked in towards the end of the summer with cold cash in my pocket looking for a great deal at "Rick's. There were 2 guys stocking and 1 guy at the register doing something. I walked around for 20 minutes before one of the guys stocking asked if he could help me. I told him I am looking to buy a spa and he took me straight to the most expensive one. I told him I was looking for something less extravagant and he pointed towards their overflowing selection of overpriced used spas. Some looked quite used and faded. The staff went back to what they were doing. I walked around for another 15 minutes waiting for someone to take this cash out of my pocket but nobody cared. Couldn't be happier! We placed a custom order for a LA Spa from Randy on Valentine's Day. We were expecting to receive it within 2-3 weeks. While there were 2 delays on manufacturing, Randy continued to check on the status and kept us in the loop. Randy also coordinated the crane company needed to hoist the new spa over our backyard wall. Old spa removed free of charge too! Within a week, there was water leaking from under the spa apron. Bought a really nice cal spa from spa max. Friendly and knowledgable staff . They have a variety of spas to fit any need or budget . Our spa came with a cover, steps , a wireless radio, CD player , and chemical to start you up. Although it is a pricey investment it is well worth the money . Since our backyard was a tight fit I had to hire a crane company to lift it all the way into the backyard . Other costs along with gettin the spa installed are to add a 50 amp breaker to our existing electrical panel. This is needed for 220 to run the spa . This place you must see! I walked in expecting a show room and saw 2 people in bathing suits in the jacuzzi and pool. I asked the staff and they said it helps people get to know what they are buying..great idea! Next time I am bringing my suit and towel. The price is so ridiculous low and they carry all of the chemicals for pools and spas at a reasonable price. I even found floating devices, pool toys, etc.. As promised, I am going to give my "review" for Spa Max. I have not owned a Hot Tub before, and decided now was the time - a retirement necessity - LoL. My initial impressions of Rick's Spas were - # Large showroom, with a large assortment of makes and models. # We were greeted at the door, and encouraged to ask questions when we were ready. # No sales pressure at all. After we narrowed our search down to four tubs that suited our requirements, we began asking questions. I did a fair amount of research before even going to look, so I began with questions we already knew the answers to - you know - "testing the waters". These guys know everything about every make and model they carry. The pros, the cons, and the reasons why. They do not have a hidden agenda for "pushing" one brand over another. There were several "used" spas on display, but my preference is the same as buying a car....Buy new - you do not want somebody else's problems or leftovers, and common sense tells me that you do not know how the tub was previously maintained or used, and some problems are not initially apparent - so we shopped for new ones. Their prices were on par, with a nice discount for cash purchase on a hot tub. Delivery, cover, steps and start up chemicals are included in the price. This alone set them apart from "other" stores I have been to - who charged for these in addition to the price of the tub. We narrowed our choice down to two tubs , and decided to research both a bit further before purchasing one. We came back the following day - our selection being made. We selected the colors, paid, and were given a 3-4 week window since the tub is manufactured in Oregon and shipped here. The only "hiccough" was - it actually took 5 weeks for the whole process, and I had to call at the 4 week mark to check on delivery status. My spa was delivered and set up exactly 5 weeks after ordering. My only critique is - I should not have had to call Ricks Spas. I am very happy with my Hot Tub, and highly recommend Spa Max (Ricks Spas) to anybody who are considering getting a Hot Tub. You get great prices, large variety, and no "surprise" costs at the end. read more

Today we decided to go look at spas, something my husband and I have been wanting for long long time. We went in expecting to feel pressured and even defensive, WE were wrong! Never did anyone hound us.. we looked comfortably at their huge! Affordable! Selection. We were greeted in passing and offered assistance with questions when we were ready. We worked with Bobby, he was very knowledgeable, polite, professional and he worked out a deal for us we could not pass up. We are overjoyed with our purchase, I'm glad we bought from this location and I see why they have been in the business for 20+.
