The battery of my car recently gave out on me & John came to the rescue! John towed my car to my apartment. He truly went above & beyond my expectations! I thought my battery was done for but John had hope. He tried to reassure me that my problem wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. He got the power box jumpstarter & began to charge my battery. After the second attempt my car started! He noticed my car was also a bit low on gas & he even offered to pump some gas in my car! After my car started he recommended to drive my car around so my battery could charge up a bit more. He then said he would stay close to my area just in case my car act up again that night. This place tries to scam people. I understand the towing process and that is not my complaint. We called to arrange to have someone else pickup the car for us- we talked to them to see what exactly they would need to release the car and how much it would be. Well long story short, they lied and tried to milk us for more money and hold the car longer coming up with completely bs reasons as to why they can't release the car. This is after we've already gotten a *paid* release by the police department. We have filled complaints with the police department, the facility that hires them, and the better business bureau. I finished a round of golf only to find the front tire of my GMC Yukon was flat. I called AAA and expected that I would have to wait up to an hour for a repair service to appear. I was very happy to find that southside towing showed up within about 10 minutes. The repair man, Vince Lambert, was extraordinary. He had the tire off the vehicle and the spare put on in no time. He found the place on the tire where the leak occurred. He made sure everything was secure before he left, including checking the air pressure in the spare tire. This man was a godsend. My son is in town for his younger brothers high school Graduation & the perverted security guard at my complex had his vehicle towed. These people are complete crooks. I was at my girlfriends apartment late Saturday night & parked in a usps spot that did not say no parking & I knew I would be leaving at 6am. No mail comes at these hours or on Sunday. when I got to the tow yard the rude staff was so condescending & enjoyed seeing my dismay. They charged a $200 tow fee $55 day fee & they only had my car for two hours. They then told me since they are closed they charged me $95.00 to open the gate. If they were closed why were they all working & towing vehicles. They also broke my electrical skull I had on my tow hitch, time will tell if they fix it. My car was parked for less than 15 minutes before it was towed by accident due to a misunderstanding with the apartment complex where it was parked. I was given no warning about my vehicle being towed. Then I go to pick up my vehicle and the front office lady was extremely rude and was using her personal phone to text while I was supposed to be helped. After nearly 30 minutes (I was the only person in the waiting room) I was allowed to take my car off the lot. I turn on my car and the radio settings have been changed, there are footprints and scuff marks on my dashboard that were never there before, and there is a piece broken off my gear shift. I went back inside to complain that someone broke into my car and they denied everything staying that there must have already been damage to the vehicle or that it was broken into at the apartment complex where it was towed. She claimed that all employees at Southside are unable to open any car even though my car had been clearly opened and tampered with. I was given no apology nor a course of action or anything that could have helped me out in any way. Their customer service is horrible and I see them circle around the apartment complex day and night. This company is predatory and needs to be investigated. This is not the first instance where someone in the apartment complex has been towed without notice or by accident. read more

My car was towed, which is whatever. I am out of town so my little brother went and picked up the car, well tried to at least. The workers stated that all I needed to do was write down on a piece on paper that I release the car to him, and send a photo of my license, which I did. I was then met with hostility and genuinely rude and disgusting people. They would not release the car once they got what they asked for, then they all of a sudden came up with something else that I had to provide and it was a never ending cycle. They would not accept anything I gave them (even though it's what they asked for and explained to them we're out of town and did exactly what they said). We were not allowed to speak on the phone due to the woman screaming at us and not letting us say one word. Many phone calls later and getting hung up on multiple times and screamed at, we were finally able to just bring the title in and pick the car up. The car had damage in multiple places, such as the front bumper hanging, scraping underneath the car, and the side skirt has been broken and on top of that, a flat tire. It makes a lot of sense now that they didn't want to release the car, they damaged it and do not want to take responsibility. I have never seen or dealt with such vile, careless, and disrespectful people in my life. read more

Is Southside Towing a scam? At the end of July I was involved in an accident with a drunk driver, a day I'd very much like to forget. My car got towed away from Southside Towing, which got called in by the Orange Police. I had to keep the car there for a couple of weeks while I dealt with insurance, but finally got the go ahead to salvage my vehicle. We had spoken with Southside and seemed to have reached a deal where I would give them the title and they'd salvage the car, apply the credit to our invoice, and then we'd stop accruing storage fees. Well, that was not meant to be. We called yesterday and was told we needed to call today (another day of storage fees). So, we called today, and spoke to Alex who basically told me that to hand over my car to them, I'd have to pay the fees minus the salvage right then and there. I stated I didn't have the money, and asked to be invoiced or make payment plans, which they basically said either I pay now or the storage fees keep accruing until either I can come up with the new increasing amount or it's sent to collections. So I asked for the manager and was told to call in tomorrow. My wife ended up calling back, as at this point I was livid. She was told the same deal as me, and when she pressed for more answers, Alex hung up on her. She called back and Alex then just threw her to voicemail. This is very unprofessional and quite rude. Woke up today to find my marked company car missing. Of course, from my own apartment complex my vehicle had been towed away. I call in to a pretty unhelpful gentleman agreeing they had my vehicle. He wasn't very informative and found myself calling back because I was sure there would be something else needed. Sure enough. Now of course just to get the vehicle out was expensive enough. Sure the company doesn't have any power over the charges, but if you're associated, own it. $322 + $55 police release form/processing + $25 lyft to get around. What a hassle. The place looks as sketch as the business scam it is. Gentleman told me they perform about 70 impounds a week proudly. Says they like to snag them from the Costa Mesa/Newport area. Good to know. My fiance and I are told that the CHP can call a tow truck since our vehicle is non operational. Thinking there is likely not a variance in prices with tow trucks we agree and go along with it... Accident 55 freeway and Dyer Body shop in Santa Ana Total distance 6.7 miles The driver basically had to exit the freeway... Pretty much it. Informs me it will be 175 dollars an hour from the second he left his shop until he pulls back in... $350 later I am pretty sure I paid for a $200 lunch hour. This company is horrible. My husband and I were in a car accident with a lady who had no insurance, license, and a DUI. We weren't at fault. The cops hired these guys to tow the vehicles. I suffered injuries as the passenger. I've tried calling Southside to resolve the storage fees and salvage our vehicle because our insurance won't handle the case. They offered us to pay $495 settlement + the title of our car. We don't have that kind of money! Instead of working with us, Alex hung up on me and later just dropped me into someone's voicemail. I'm unemployed and may not be able to work because of this accident. These guys are just racking up storage fees while my husband and I have to struggle to pay our rent. This place needs to either be closed down or sued. My boyfriend parked in red for easy access for me to get in the car. I'm 9 months pregnant, and having contractions. Car was there for about 45 minutes to a hour while we were getting everything ready to go to the hospital. They towed our car at the apartment complex and I had to call my mom to take me and my dad to take my boyfriend to get the car. This place did NOT have the car for a full 2 HOURS. They charged us $438. The light duty fee on the sign said 215-250 and after hours charge is $100. They completely scammed my bf knowing dam well he needed the car ASAP as I'm in active labor. My bf told him the price is different and the crack head looking guy working tonight said he's going by what's on the computer and doesn't matter if the sign has been updated or not. That's BULLSHIT. Completely took advantage and came up with some lame excuse saying it's cause they are closed on saturdays. Which is also bullshit because this same company towed my mom on a Saturday 3am and she picked up that same Saturday around 2-3pm and was charged LESS. I am not reporting a bad review because I was towed, it was my fault I was towed and I understand the process, respect their job, and I paid my fee. I was able to contact the company the night I was towed and they were helpful in letting me know the fees, and I was able pick up my car in a decent amount of time the next morning. However, after leaving the lot we quickly realized our parking permit was missing from the car. I called back to report it missing and asked if I could leave my number in case they found the permit (I have to pay a fine for a new permit and am hoping I don't have to spend more money than I already have), and the woman who answered said it would be no help to leave my number because it was not there and they were not responsible. She then hung up on me. I called back because that was very unsettling, and the woman stated she was done talking with me and hung up on me again. When I called back to speak to a manager, or the person who operated the business, so that we could settle things, she said she would take my number but they wouldn't call me back. I KNOW that I was in the wrong and that's why my car was towed. However, when I am respectfully and calmly speaking to an employee to ask about missing items, I should not be treated this way. No one should be treated this way, no matter how busy the business is that day. There isn't an excuse. I was flabbergasted by the way this person seems to treat others. It was absolutely shocking. I encourage individuals, apartment complexes, and companies to not employ these towing services if they treat customers with such utter disrespect. The only reason I am leaving a yelp is because whoever answered the phones said there was no other number to contact the owners of the business.
