They are a thug. It just way too expensive. For towing of my car from my uncle's senior apartment and keeping it there for little more than two hours, they decide to charge me $590. It is a legalized robbery. They had like a three different prices and they apply the most expensive rate on my car. Moreover, my car was towed on the grounds that my parking permit was "not displayed"--even though it was clearly present inside the car. In other words, my car was towed based on the false presumption that I did not have a valid parking permit, when in fact I did. This is absolutely ridiculous. They tried to overcharge me by $200 when my vehicle got towed. The posted prices and what they were trying to charge me weren't adding up and when I mentioned this to the employee, she tried to deny it. I insisted that she look at the posted prices and when she did, she also realized she was going to overcharge me by $200. She didn't even apologize. This place is full of scammers. ITS MY FAULT! I was pulled over and caught driving without a current registration and costa Mesa PD impounded my car. I went to the DMV updated my registration got a 1 day moving permit and took it to the police department to obtain a RELEASE form to get my car out. PD advised me that the tow yard charged a gate fee AFYER 5PM. (That was nice) so it was no surprise when I got there. I picked up my vehicle asked for an itemized receipt, I compared it to their POSTED price list and PAID my due. I handled my s*it like an adult the men in the front desk were quiet but professional very serious even though I was asking questions and in good spirits. but I was past 5 pm they probably wanted me out of there as quickly as possible but nonetheless It was a professional swift transaction got my car out and drove off. word of advice. don't park in fire lanes use permits and park in your assigned stalls and keep all registrations up to date to avoid this trip or experience. they're just doing their job. read more

I'm beyond furious with this so-called "business." On the Fourth of July, when the streets were packed, chaotic, and there was literally nowhere to park. They decided to tow my vehicle from in front of my own home. Yes, I'll admit I parked somewhere I technically wasn't supposed to, but let's be real -- it was a holiday, the roads were jammed, and it's not like I abandoned my car in a an a place that blocked traffic or prevented any movement. I live there. They towed it a mile away. One mile. And for that, they charged me $600. SIX. HUNDRED. FUCKING. DOLLARS. For a tow that barely went around the block. That's not just overpriced, that's extortion. From what I've gathered, this company mostly operates for the city. But instead of actually serving the community, they exploit technicalities, use public holidays to prey on people, and hide behind their contracts while bleeding residents dry. Their practices are shameless. They are not just inconsiderate -- they are predatory. This isn't a business. It's a trap. They don't care about your home, your situation, your holiday plans. They care about one thing: profit. What they did wasn't just unfair it was heinous, greedy, and frankly evil. I hope others see this and think twice before accepting this companies awful practices, supporting them and tolerating companies like this. You say "the police set the towing rates" but my car wasn't towed by police. A friend ran out of gas and abandoned my car in the middle of the street. It was towed but the people at Southside towing were very helpful when I went to pick it up. Manny and Dave in particular helped me fuel the car and jump it so I could take it home. I hope my car doesn't get towed again but if it does I hope it is Southside Towing that does it. read more

My car died in the middle of a busy intersection, and Costa Mesa PD promptly came out and arranged for Southside Towing. The officer informed me that Southside would tow my car to a nearby yard free of charge, but they forgot to give Edgar, the tow driver, the necessary paperwork. Edgar kindly suggested towing my car to a parking lot instead so I could call a family member with AAA. He was incredibly patient, understanding, and compassionate throughout the whole situation. They towed my car today and I told them I'd like to pick my car up asap. They said it's by appointment only. I have a Tesla so it has cameras they had my car at the lot already and didn't want to release it when I called them. The guy who towed my car tried to open my car twice!!!! I had to lock it through my Tesla app. They are so sketchy and weird.. horrible place terrible people and when I called they were so rude!!!! I called the police because they wouldn't release my car to me even though it was there and it wasn't busy! And once I got there they acted like they didn't know what their call center was talking about wtf?!!!!!so I'm looking at the footage that the Tesla recorded and the person that towed it tried to force the window open while it was locked this place is so sketchy fuxking ridiculous can't trust these people Response to David: why would you hold my vehicle until 5:30pm if there vehicle was already there at 4pm? So my car got towed last night because I illegally parked it. Definitely my bad and I called them to make sure my car was there before heading over. They were really nice on the phone and let me know I just needed my driver's license, my car registration paper, and either credit card (no American Express) or cash. They don't have an ATM onsite so definitely get your cash beforehand if you don't wanna pay by card. Showed up at lunch and the young man named Sam was able to help me right away. No fuss or hassle. I was in and out with my car in like 15 minutes. They do have a soda machine but not much else. The $392 fine definitely hurt the wallet but it's definitely an expensive lesson to learn. They have 8am auctions every Friday for cars and motorcycles. Pretty interesting and apparently a lot of people buy those vehicles, fix them up and resell for good money. Sam told us some cool stories. Overall, very unlike the negative reviews on here. Hope I don't see them again but at least they're pleasant to deal with! read more

Instead of going in with a contentious mindset, I respectfully asked if they could work with me with on the final bill. They could clearly see by my provided documentation I was a resident of the complex and I was accepting accountability. David reduced the exit fee for me and I was on my way to work. This place is absurd. Obviously in some kind of deal with Via Lido Plaza where they tow people and make insane amounts of money. Car was towed on a Sunday and cost me $590. A $165 gate fee was there because they're "closed" yet full staff is in there working. They're taking so much money from people I don't understand how these people feel ethical at all. Pulling a car from a public lot I WAS SHOPPING IN towing me in less than an hour and charging me that much. Some people probably can't even afford this or use their rent money because of this greed.
