Apps, wings, crawfish balls(very gooey, not a lot of crawfish), fried oysters were perfection and the dip for both of those items was a perfect match. The Ponchatrain pig was gone very fast! The burger was huge! Hush puppies were crisp, the French onion soup was classic, but the salt level was high! The soft shell crab was a disappointment, tiny little babies that didn't even look large enough to take from the sea! The bodies were yummy, the single bite I was able to ration. My wife and I came there last Thursday night. We had a special she got the fillet butterfly well done, and I got the ribeye, medium rare. Both pieces of meat came out the first time exactly how we ordered them and they had a very, very good taste, and the rest of the meal was wonderful. Our waitress did a great job. I just wish the place wouldn't have so much background noise and loudness because the person that ate with us had a hard time hearing when we talked but overall wonderful experience. read more

My parents have been a few times and advised me I had to try it. I think we might have caught it on a semi bad day unfortunately. The service felt a little rushed and that could have been because there was a shift change right after we received our food but we got what we needed promptly. The food was ok but a couple of items came out lukewarm such as the vegetables and my gumbo. I didn't send the gumbo back because it might have been just microwaved and sent back on out which I didn't want. The drinks were strong but strong to where I think it was made incorrectly. Our server was Zander and he turned dinner into a show. He was very amusing and earnest. I had a small order of the onion strings (which is more than enough for a family of 6) and the French dip sandwich. The onion strings were crispy and delicious and the French dip was served hot. I had to take half of it home, but that just give me a second chance to enjoy it. Next time I visit I'll definitely request to sit in Zander's section. read more

Always love Southside, never go wrong with the French onion soup. However, this trip which is a 200 mile round trip to eat there was a disappointment. We usually order the seafood muffalotta which is your typical muffalotta but also dressed and has shrimp, oysters & fish. Price according to the seafood . Totally worth the price. Today was the serious bait & switch. I did not read the description & they have changed the description on the menu. The description, which in full disclosure I did not read. Ordered our usual Seafood muffalotta, it was a seafood poboy on muffalotta bread, no mayo, no olive salad no cheese ham or salami, for the same price as what we paid for all the extras. Sad that dish is no longer an option worse was the argumentative server. Will continue to go there but will definitely read food descriptions & not order a staple/fav without reading most updated menu. Did I mention we drive 100 mi one way just to eat there. Met here yesterday with some girlfriends. Got out of the city of NOLA for once. I really loved the atmosphere of this place. Staff was very friendly & restroom was clean. They offer military/veteran discounts with proper identification. I ordered the eggs ponchatrain for myself. To go I ordered the black n bleu sammich & a pops French toast. For husband & toddler back home. Definitely coming back to have a few beers next time!!
