    Court yard fire place

This was my favorite Southern Grounds location. The courtyard with a fireplace is cozy and inviting. After lunch, we walked over for some hot chocolate and coffee. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Even on a busy Saturday, they were welcoming and made our experience in St Augustine memorable. My friend enjoyed his hot chocolate so much he almost contemplated about getting a second one lol. Part of the charm was the location & ambience combined with great service is why I gave this location 5 stars!

It's hard to find a quality coffee shop with good espresso AND quality breakfast sandwiches - this place checks both boxes!! I had an iced latte, an egg and cheese on a croissant and a salted caramel cookie. My husband ordered an iced chai latte and an everything bagel with herb cream cheese. I'm very picky about my lattes and these were perfect! Smooth, balanced milk-to-espresso ratio. The food was on par. Soft croissant, nicely toasted bagel. Tasty cream cheese. Constant line of hungry people. Quick service. Nice outdoor and indoor dining. Highly recommend this coffee shop if you are in the area visiting st Augustine.

Always enjoy my time at southern grounds! Coffee is good, food is tasty, and service is quick! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating available too which is great!

My favorite place to go every time we are in the city, their food is great and full of flavor and their coffee is delicious and well crafted.

I needed a little pick me up today and I found the perfect spot. Southern Grounds Coffee in the historic downtown district of Saint Augustine wrapped me up in all the cozy vibes I was craving. My pumpkin spice iced latte was absolutely delicious and the holiday decor added that warm fuzzy feeling that only this season can bring. Coffee and Christmas = the dream team.Their coffee selection is incredible and somehow their food options might even rival the drinks. Everything is fresh flavorful. And can we talk about the outdoor fireplace for a moment... Hello!! It is the ultimate cozy corner and I cannot think of another coffee shop in town that offers such a perfect winter touch. If you are looking for a little warmth a little joy and a whole lot of deliciousness Southern Grounds is absolutely the place.

Super cute coffee house. Very friendly cashiers. This was in walking distance from where we were staying so that was nice. The banana nut chocolate muffin was delicious. We didn't have breakfast, but the breakfast looked really good. I will say the latte is a little milky. Other than that everything else was fantastic.

What a great find by our hotel the morning after seeing the Nights of Lights. I was impressed with the extensive menu. I had the Greek omelette which was perfectly seasoned and delicious. I don't drink coffee. So having creative tea options is always a winner. I had the cherry vanilla matcha latte. Wonderful! My son had French toast. My husband had a light roast French press. Both were very happy with their decisions. I liked that the fruit side was not trash fruit meaning melon. Just berries and red grapes. The staff were friendly. We sat outside by the fireplace. Cozy! Will return in our next trip to St. Augustine.

Visited Southern Grounds on our last day in Saint Aug. The coffee was fantastic, as well as the sausage egg & cheese croissant. My girlfriend for the eggs Benedict and said they were great as well. The interior of the coffee shop is very nice and comforting. Will absolutely come back next time we are in town!

I think this place is fairly new, and my sisters and I decided to check it out after a tough workout. I'd heard great things about their fresh food and delicious coffee, so as a breakfast lover, I had to give it a try. Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised--it's a house converted into a spacious café! The ordering area is small, but the seating is huge, with a beautiful outdoor space that's perfect for relaxing with friends. Their menu has everything from breakfast and lunch to smoothies and pastries. I ordered a three-egg omelet with a side of bacon (and a pancake that literally melted in my mouth). I usually cook at home for fresh, high-quality meals, and this was exactly that--fresh, filling, and absolutely delicious. My sisters got a lavender latte and a chai tea, both beautifully presented and some of the best they've ever had. The service was fantastic! Even though it was busy, the staff was friendly and efficient. We placed our orders within 10 minutes of arriving, and our food was out in 15. It's a café-style setup-you grab a number, find a seat, and they bring your food. If you dine in, there's a station to clear your dishes when you're done, and for to-go orders, they call your name. Super cool vibes, amazing food, and great service-I'm definitely coming back!

Opening Weekend ~ January 2025 New year, new Southern Grounds locations! After following their progress on social media, I couldn't wait to visit the stunning new building in St. Augustine. Yesterday's sunny weather in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas made it the perfect day for a trip. A hot latte or chai tea by the fire on their charming patio--pure relaxation. I opted for a hot chai latte with oat milk, paired with a cranberry and walnut tart, salted caramel chocolate chip cookies, and a croissant. By the time I explored the space, chatted with a few friendly faces inside, and snapped a couple of photos, the evening had settled in, so I enjoyed my treats indoors. As always, Southern Grounds (aka Blueberry Bakery) did not disappoint. The tart was subtly sweet, the cookies were to die for, and the croissant was wonderfully fresh. My chai latte had a hint of cinnamon that was just perfect for a chilly night. Parking Tips We all know St. Augustine's parking can test your patience. If you're visiting on a weekend, look for the paid parking lot just past the Southern Grounds building on the right--it's close but fills up quickly. For a more seamless experience, I recommend visiting Monday through Friday during regular work hours. I took my chances on a Saturday and eventually found free street parking after circling the block a few times. I didn't mind the walk--it gave me a chance to soak in the atmosphere. However, ladies, save the cute heels for another occasion--cobblestone streets can be a bit dicey. A Few Highlights The staff was incredibly hospitable, as always. I love asking for recommendations, and the girl at the counter even pointed out the cranberry tart contained walnuts--such a thoughtful touch for those with allergies (thankfully, not an issue for me). Whether you're craving a drink, a snack, or a light meal, Southern Grounds is a perfect stop to rest and recharge while exploring St. Augustine.

Really nice place to keep yourself warm. The employees are friendly! One of them knows ASL. One thing problem is, they don't have their own parking lots. You have to find a parking spot at somewhere.. then you have to walk to the cafe.

This past weekend, while I was in St. Augustine, I visited Southern Grounds newest location at 124 King Street. This location features a beautiful outdoor seating area complete with a working fireplace. There is also seating available indoors and on the patio. As a long-time fan of Southern Grounds, I appreciate how each of their locations are uniquely designed to complement its surroundings. This location does that. You can tell that it belongs. The food and service is what I am accustomed to when dining at Southern Grounds. Food came out hot and in a timely manner. I've had the Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich before, but it was my first trying the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Simple but had a lot of good flavor with the combination of the Swiss, bacon, onion & mushrooms. It's now a favorite of mine. Make sure you stop by Southern Grounds. They have other locations in San Marco, Avondale, Neptune Beach, and at the Jacksonville Airport.

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

When I arrived with my pregnant wife and my service dog, he asked somewhat curtly if it was a service dog. It was a pretty cold and uncomfortable welcome. That said, the restaurant is absolutely charming. I really loved the interior ambiance--it's cozy, well-decorated, and has a very pleasant vibe. The food was extremely delicious. We ordered the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger and it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could taste the quality in every single bite--the meat was perfect, the ingredients fresh, and everything very well balanced. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had recently. Despite the initial host experience, I would return without hesitation for the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended, but they could improve the initial greeting.
