No wait time. Sat, ordered. Limited breakfast options and surprised at the prices for breakfasts. Anyway, after half an hour of waiting after ordering, we left. So did a group of 4 who got there about 10 minutes after we did and left after they also waited 20 minutes. There were two servers - no one seemed to apologize for the wait to anyone. I finally found my server and asked if our order was coming and she said in a couple of minutes. Put a timer on it and left. There was a senior couple who came in 15 minutes after us and ordered. First of all, my silverware was sticky and soiled. Therefore, I requested a clean set. However, I was again given a sticky and soiled set of silverware. Again, I requested for clean silverware and was given a clean knife since my husband gave me his fork to use. With the threat of COVID-19, you would think they would make an effort to have clean and sanitized silverware. What's up with that? People are dying of COVID-19. When I was finally able to eat my food, the chicken fried chicken was grossly over cooked and I was only able to get 4 or 5 small bites out of it. This is one of my new favorite spots. I went for lunch the other day with a co-worker and it was great. Our server was super sweet, very knowledgeable of the menu and was extremely patient with us because it was our first time there. By the way, the food did not disappoint. Even the tea was exactly like I like it. We went during lunch time so we got the lunch special which for the amount of food that we got was a great price. If their was a way to give zero stars I would. I visited with 4 other family members who were visiting. I called to make a reservation and when we arrived it was empty. We inquired about a special seating area with regal seats and ornate dining table near the front window and was told it cost over $100 to just sit there. That was the red flag, but I did not take heed and it only got worse. We were told that entrees did not come with sides. We ordered a $27.95 platter that came with 1 and half pieces of catfish, 6 shrimp and literally 2 chicken wing parts. Nothing else! We also ordered sides of Mac and cheese, greens and candied yams. We also ordered a steak and another catfish "entree". We drank water and only one person ordered a frozen drink that was really sweet. There was nothing that we had that would make me want to come back. I don't understand how you stay in business in a strip mall type area but charge high end restaurant prices. We spent way over $100 and it was not worth it. The waitress was okay and busied herself filling salt and pepper shakers. My visitors wanted soul food and this place was nearby. I really should have done my homework. We would have been better off going a block away to Lisa's where we could have gotten a lot more food for 1/3 the price that we spent. I'm okay with ala carte but just not for basic fried food... I do not understand why you can't have any sides with a nearly $30 "platter". I see why you stay empty. Full plates of food was left on her table. I also observed 2 other parties give up on trying to get service & walked out after an unbelievably reasonable amount of time. Crazy thing is that there were other employees there along with the owner/manager, but no one other than the 2nd waitress seem to care enough to provide customer service. While I will admit my chicken n waffles were ok, they left a lot to be desired.. Especially for $16! My friend had the shrimp n grits, and it was just awful. First time customers, Sunday after church. Walking in we were immediately greeted and seated. The interior is old Fontana (the previous restaurant in the space): chairs/tables, wine rack, with wall decorations to compliment its 'Southern" theme. There were about five other tables seated and about four more as were eating. We ordered the Texas Pecan coffee (recommended) and was better than a majority of restaurants around here that use institutional coffee (the kind that comes from a "Farm" or a "Park"). We ordered a kids burger and broccoli for my wife and I had the two-egg-bacon-sauasage-potato offering. The food came out pretty quick and was cooked perfectly (bacon crisp and eggs fluffy). The hamburger wasn't a hockey puck. The portions seemed about right for the price. The pleasant conversation in-between made us feel right at home. Daysha was very gracious, bubbly and attentive without being overbearing as we ate. Even the cross-talk among staff sounded professional and low-key(rather than coarse or gossipy) and we felt very relaxed and unrushed. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The prices were fair, although we really have not a lot to compare to since this was our first (but not last) visit (thus 4-stars to start). We'll be back; next time to try their lunch or maybe dinner. In the meantime, Southern Eats is a recommend for quality, atmosphere, staff and coffee. read more

Went after church on a Sunday with my family. The restaurant was nicely decorated but the floor was dirty and had not been cleaned in a while. The food was pricey. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with okra, and mash potatoes $16.99. The gravy was very runny, the mash potatoes were instant (just because you put parsley on it doesn't make it good), and the chicken fried chicken really was a chicken tender. We should have known when we arrived at around 12:30PM on a Monday and there was not a single table sat that something was not right. We had 5 in our party, with 2 kids. The place is very nice looking inside with a good sized bar and a wine room, and the dining area was of good size. Between us we had an order of mozzarella sticks, hamburger, chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, and fish. This is where the visit took a bit of a nose dive. After about twenty minutes our waitress would come out about every ten minutes to tell us our food would be out shortly. At about 45 minutes we were told it was being played up and would be out shortly. after about another 5 minutes our waitress came out to tell us the mashed potatoes were not ready and asked us to pick a different side option, this happens so I don't typically get too upset, but I'm not sure why they didn't know that sooner, again it was not busy, at this point another table of 1 was seated and he actually already had his meal, even with him arriving well after us. My burger was one of the driest burgers i have ever had, even after i put a ton of mustard, i had to take a drink of water after every bite. The mozzarella sticks were ok, not bad but nothing special, pretty sure they were frozen. My daughter had a side of Mac n Cheese, and after the first bite looked at me and said she was pretty sure it was Kraft. My wife also had the Mac and said she did not think it was Kraft since it had cheese pull. I will not comment too much on the chicken fried chicken as it came with gravy on it and my daughter wont eat it with gravy, we did our best to remove it but she didn't eat much, the gravy was totally our fault as we forget to request no gravy. My wife said her chicken fried steak was pretty good, and I was told the fish was good. Overall, I have no intention of returning, the food was average to below average, the wait time for the food was obnoxious, even though they were in no way busy, and the service was nice and courteous, even with the constant assurance of the food was on it's way out, when it obviously was not. read more
