The lady behind the counter was small chatting with, I'm assuming, a customer at the counter when I walked in. When they finally stopped talking, she just stated at me. No, "How can I help you?'", or "Dining in or pick-up?" Nothing. I spoke to her and relayed that it was my first time there but she was no help. I finally told her my order, and she took it and my money and said,"You can sit down." This food here was soooooo good. We went in the middle of the day on Saturday so they were BUSY. They truly make everything to order. Yes, we did wait an hour but there are signs that say this can happen. So I wasn't surprised but it was worth the wait. The fries were nice, fresh and crispy not soggy. The greens were definitely Glory mixed with cabbage. The flavor of those canned greens is very distinct so I could taste it. And the cabbage was too mushy in the greens. Please don't short cut on the greens. Try a sauté method on fresh greens and add in the cabbage when they're nearly done. I stopped eating Glory because of the preservative taste. Those could have been much better on the palate. The Gorilla Nutz were nice. They were served with cheese but we put that on the side cause well, Mac n cheese, corn n cheese, sooo ‍ we didn't eat more cheese. The waffles tasted soft and like they had been pre-cooked. A fresh waffle would've been great but we ate them nonetheless. The shrimp and grits were also very tasty, however, they were floating in some type of oil. We couldn't tell if it was butter and olive oil or just oil. It was a bit too much. We used a napkin to get some of it out. The grits could have cooked a few more minutes. The best thing here is the poster. This is not a healthy place to eat. The hostess cannot be spraying the table with bleach spray and then going to handle your food. Also no fountain drink machine was seen, but I saw soda's being brought in by the case for soft drinks. Hennessy Lemonade is an option, but they do not have a liquor license. The food we ordered was not hot, nor appealing.They did process our refund and we appreciated that. Only thing that was good was the collard greens and cabbage mixture, since it was actually hot. As for the restaurant ambiance, it was lacking. They have a nice size restaurant but signs on the door were hanging on for dear life, TVs were not on, and they were playing music with curse words, which was awkward for my small elementary age kids to hear. I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for some time now. Just from the pictures and the hype I was hopeful of so much more than what I got. First as we were trying to figure out what we wanted on the kiosk, most of the pictures weren't available to see what we were ordering. About 7 minutes of scrolling trying to figure out what we couldn't see the host came over and asked if we ordered the gorilla fries or the gorilla nutz. We were looking forward to ordering the gorilla nutz with the cheeto dust but was told it was unavailable. We ordered the lamb chop combo plate together with a lemonade and sweet tea. When the food came out the only food that was fresh was the wings and the waffles. The lamb chops were warm but not hot as well and the cabbage and Mac n cheese. The lamb was over cooked and tough and the Mac n cheese was over cooked and mushy. We had to get the attention of the host to get our drinks because they were forgotten. She only brought the lemonade and then tell me they were also out of sweet tea. She said the had Arizona teas both watermelon and mango. So I got the mango. She continued to prance order the restaurant and finally brought my drink almost ten minutes after we told her that we didn't have our drinks. I don't know if this is the norm for this restaurant or they were just having a bad day, but when I spend 50.00 on one plate I expect for much better food and service. We ended up going to burger Street to get a chilli dog to satisfy our appetite as we couldn't handle any more disappointment with food so it was best to keep it simple.
