Overall experience was pretty good.. food was pretty good.. my wife has some allergy issues and we appreciated our waitress asking additional questions, asking if they should use clean clean cutting boards. AMAZING!! I was obsessed with their beans!! Sooo tasty and seasoned to perfection! I had the pork nachos and wasnt super impressed with the setup. First time trying. This place will be in my regular rotation going forward. I had the pulled pork sandwich, (opted for the cornbread instead of a bun), my sides were coleslaw and mac & cheese... AMAZING. We came in for trivia on Thursday night with bartender/trivia master Rob. Rob was the BEST host! SO much fun, 9 teams playing. The whiskey list is awesome, great for any whisky enthusiasts! I've driven by the sign on the freeway for this place over and over again and I've always wanted to stop by. Also drove by this place a ton of times on my way to find cider, croissants, or arepas so I was already on a mission to forage for food, but I'd see the restaurant and think, "Someday." Tonight I finally tried it and this food is solid. I had the 1/3 lb of ribs and it was nice and tender. Sis tried the brisket, which is the only type of bbq she likes, and she said it was nice and tender. SIL measures every bbq place by their cornbread and this one had real butter drizzled on it, so that was nice. The potato salad was a little on the mustardy side which is not what we're used to, but I finished it. Service was nice, as the lady who greeted us was all smiles and made sure to check on us. This is a nice laid back restaurant with a small arcade room so the kids have something to do if they don't want to talk to you. We went to eat here about a week ago to celebrate my wife making her last college student loan payment. We ordered the prime rib and bbq ribs and both were very disappointing. The ribs were dry and seemed like they were likely left overs from the day or even two days before. yes that bad. The prime rib did not seem fresh even though it was Friday the only day they serve prime rib. The service was below average. I ordered a two meat combo ribs and sausage. With some sides Honestly just initial reaction looking at the plate seems not enough meat in my opinion. 2 small pieces of rib and 1 link cut up. Corn bread, baked beans and mac n cheese. Went for the ribs, they were really tough/dry... like beef jerky for a couple of bites. Same with the mac and cheese, hard and dry taste. I think the sausage was good, prefer a lil more smoke taste but no complaints for the sausage. Baked beans were my favorite part of this plate good stuff there. And I don't like cornbread usually but the I thought the cornbread was good, flakey and a little moist inside. Is it worth it tho? Got a pilled pork sandwich with baked beans and cole slaw for take out. Everything tastes great! Pork has good flavor on its own. I added some extra sauce as I like it that way. I am no BBQ expert and can't claim to know the intricacies of the perfect rub, but I've eaten a lot of ribs from many places and I can confidently say Southbay Dickerson's is at the top of my list! We stopped there a few nights ago when both my wife and I had a big hankering for ribs. We both ordered the 1/2 rack with a variety of sides (baked beans, cole slaw, mac & cheese, cornbread, and peach cobbler). Everything was delicious! The ribs were huge, with tender mouth-watering meat along all sides of the bone. The rub itself was so good, that some ribs we devoured without even pouring on their bbq sauce! Speaking of sauce, it was great too. Wonderful combination of sweet, spicy, with a wee bit of zing! Each rib seemed to have a perfect mix of crunchy edges and fall-apart meat. Each the sides were tasty too. The beans reminded us of the taste of a great chili! Yum! The sweet cobbler was a nice addition to the mix and gave of a different taste than the tang and spice of the rest. The mac and cheese was okay, but not something I would probably get again. We had great service, very friendly and accommodating. A wonderful atmosphere with the large doors open to get the cool breeze. I love barbecue, I really do and I take care to make tasty appealing food. I really looked forward to trying this place out. When we arrived at 6:30 pm on Valentine's Day the place was almost empty. That is a bad sign that we should have paid attention to. We got the sample platter called the meat sweats. It is supposed to feed 3-4 people. It cost $114 total cost with no drinks. Two of us easily ate everything without feeling full. We didn't order alcohol so once the waiter took our order he only came back to quickly drop of the food. He never offered us more water even though I almost choked on the bone dry chicken, dry ribs and dry brisket, even though I coughed for three minutes straight. I was craving pulled pork, and finally made my way into Dickerson's BBQ. It did not disappoint! Both my partner and I got the pulled pork, except he ordered it as a sandwich and I ordered it with cornbread. YUM! It's great with the original BBQ sauce, but I recommend adding their chipotle BBQ sauce. Sides: The cornbread came with honey and butter, and was amazing. The baked beans were obviously slow cooked and the potato salad was perfectly seasoned. The peach cobbler was to die for . We will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu! read more

We stopped in on a Friday night about 5, there were two couples. By the time we left about 5:45 a couple other people showed up. Pretty empty though. Our table was sticky and the condiments on the table were grimy. There was incredibly loud music playing. The waitstaff were by the register chatting much of the time we were there. The waitress was very short with us like we were wasting her time. My husband had the prime rib ($30 w/a small baked potato, an extremely dry, tasteless corn muffin, and small salad - no substitutions at all allowed, my husband was hoping for beans instead of a baked potato). The meat was literally cold and tough, the potato was lukewarm, and the salad was really uninteresting. I ordered the smallest plate of ribs I could. I got beans so I could trade with my husband for his potato since that was impossible to do for his order. My ribs were cold and tough. I ate one and was not eating anymore. My husband finished them off and agreed they were tough. I ate the potato and left still hungry. The meal was over $60 and neither of us enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere, or the staff interaction. We did think it was neat that they had a pinball room. We won't be returning. We have wanted to try this place for so long and feel really let down that it was so bad. read more

so...I ordered ribs and finished an entire beer before they were served. when they came, they were cold. I played nice and ate them, although cold and entirely flavorless. If these ribs were ever in a smoker, I will kiss your ass, and give you ten minutes to attract an audience. I know good bbq when I taste it and this ain't it! After going to the South Sound BBQ Festival in Lacey earlier today, the crap I got from Southbay Dickerson was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! We ordered the 3 meat platter. Let us count the ways this place failed: 1- the "brisket" is nothing more than a dry pot roast, 2-the pulled pork is fatty and bland 3- the potato salad is tasteless 4- and the only thing with smoked flavor was the ribs But I still had to put them on my bbq to grill them with sauce The cornbread muffin was decent but when you put it all together, there is NO WAY this meal was worth 40 cents let alone $40! I will NEVER eat anything from this place again and will be sure to tell everyone I know that they are probably the worst BBQ place in town! My husband and I had dinner at South Bay BBQ tonight. (We invited my mom but she was happy to have us just bring her dinner to her to go style). We Started eating the delicious food before I got pictures but did get some pics of half eaten dinners ‍ what's a girl to do.... The food was very good. We enjoyed it very much. Hubby had the 1/3 rd rack of ribs plate with potato salad and smoked Mac and cheese. That came with a corn bread muffin with honey butter. The ribs were good. I had a bite of the potato salad and found it excellent. The cornbread was a pleasant surprise moist and yummy on the inside, just the right amount of crisp on the outside and the honey butter was the perfect finisher. I had been eyeballing and missing out on the smoked Turkey special for weeks, with Turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and stuffing, gravy and a salad (I traded for slaw.) It was worth making the phone calls to see if they were running the special again and setting my alarm to remember that that was the dinner plan for tonight. It was so good I got one to go for later. We brought mom home her pulled pork sandwich with beautiful coleslaw. It was a huge sandwich and she enjoyed it very much too. The South Bay BBQ was batting a thousand this evening. The restaurant was clean, smelled absolutely mouth watering. The staff were super, helpful and attentive. Very professional. It was pretty early on Saturday evening so the restaurant part of the building was really pleasant. Had we not been stuffing our faces with such relish, we could easily have had a great conversation. 5s from us. Does my husband look like he's guarding his plate from me? I really only filched one delicious bite of potato salad and one little heavenly bite of cornbread with whipped honey butter.... That doesn't seem too egregious. We'll be back for more Q. I have never posted a review but I feel like I need to tell people how bad this food was. We ordered brisket, mac & cheese, cornbread and beans. Literally, nothing was edible but the cornbread and the beans and spending well over $20 for that is unacceptable. I promise you, when I tell you, there was not one piece of brisket, that you could chew through, let alone swallow. Also, the mac & cheese was so dry and blah. It actually crunched when you ate it but not in a good way. I am so appalled at how bad this food was that I actually thought it was a joke. It crossed my mind that it could've been left over from last weekend. I know these are nice people that own this place, but honestly don't waste your money. The minute you open the door you are encased in this beautiful deep smokey aroma. I was in a trance for the rest of my time there because the smell is so magnificent. It will instantly make your mouth water. The food was pretty good but unfortunately it did not deliver what the smell was promising. I ordered the pulled pork with cornbread and macaroni and cheese. I had to keep putting more BBQ sauce on the meat because it lacked robust flavor. The cornbread had good flavor but it was a little dry. The mac and cheese was definitely homemade. I liked it but probably would have enjoyed it more had it not had chilies in it. In all I think this is a great restaurant with promising food.
