It's a cute diner without that cheap diner feel. I ordered the steak frites, which came as one thick piece of steak with quite a bit of fat. I was a little confused by the cut--it felt like a larger piece with a small section still attached, almost like a chicken breast cut into uneven portions. I ordered it medium-well; the edges were cooked that way, but the center leaned more toward medium-rare. The fries were okay, but a bit cold and sad, honestly . The Diet Coke was flat. On the positive side, the service was super nice and attentive, the bathroom was very clean, and the overall vibe was pleasant. Because of the great service, I'm still giving them 5 stars. In a random search for some lunch I ended up coming across Cascadia Grill and I'm so glad. I'm sure I've drove past several times but never really noticed it. Coming in it's giving a West coast Cracker Barrel vibe with assorted photos, pine trees, mountains and of course big foot. Cascadia had a great variety of food, small shareable plates and great portions for the price. This was our first time here and it won't be our last! It was phenomenal! The food, the atmosphere, tge service all were A+++! The portions are HUGE! I worked on my Polynesian Steak sub over three meals and only ate maybe 10% of the fries and had to give them away! So delicious! Artichoke dip and raspberry white chocolate cheesecake was delicious too! Definitely get reservations if you can! We walked up and were lucky that the "cold drafty table" that they leave unsat for that reason was open for us! We were forewarned so that was really appreciated! It has been years since I've sent food back at a restaurant, but Cascadia Grill broke that streak. I had some battered pork chops with gravy and house cut fries. The chops were the most horrifically boring things I have eaten at a restaurant in memory. The fries on top of the pile were good, but underneath was what could best be described as potato confetti, obviously the dredge from the bottom of the fry basket. The server asked how everything was before I'd had a bite, so I said it was fine, and that was the last we saw of her until she showed up at the end and realized I'd only taken two bites of a chop and eaten a few fries. She did ask if I wanted something else, but that was thirty minutes after initially ordering, so no. She did take the food off the bill and toss it, of course, but there was no apology or acknowledgement other than informing me no one else had ever complained and that it was "weird" I found the food intensely boring. My wife had a salmon special, which she liked okay but wasn't worth nearly $50 by any stretch. Server said she hoped we'd give them another chance sometime, and I said I would, but on further reflection this is another restaurant that proves that the citizens of Olympia love bland food for some reason that continues to baffle me. Stopped by for lunch with my colleagues on a Tuesday and they had not a single table occupied. We were promptly seated and placed out orders. Some of us ordered their salad while some thier poutine while a few others ordered their steak burger and spicy chicken burger. It took them forever to bring the food out. After such a long wait, the food was cold and dint taste freshly made at all. The place has nice character but due to poor service, quality of food I will not recommend this place. Came here based on all the positive reviews and it did not disappoint. Of course I had to go with the garlic flank steak (4/5 stars) and my girl ordered the soup and salad (5/5 stars). We also ordered the spinach and artichoke dip (5/5 stars.... So good) The only part of the of the garlic flank steak meal I didn't care for were the crispy potatoes. I feel badly about leaving a negative review, because I love to support local businesses, and the majority of the time I really enjoy Cascadia Grill. That being said.. Today, I ordered the Creole Penne, a vegan dish boasting Cajun spices. It took a very long time to get our food, but it was busy at the time, so I wasn't too bothered. However, after finally getting my pasta and taking a big bite ( it LOOKED delicious) I was pretty annoyed. Folks, there was absolutely nothing about this pasta that was even remotely Cajun. If Cajun was a state, it would be as close to being Cajun as Texas is close to Alaska. It tasted like they'd put some margarine on some pasta and tossed it with a little handful of veggies. No seasoning. I have never sent back food in a restaurant before unless it was the wrong dish, like maybe they brought me someone else's order by mistake. But today, I sure as heck did. There's no way I'm paying $27 for a bowl of bland, oily penne. They asked if they could bring me something else, so I went with the same thing I usually order here- the Inland Empire Street Tacos. I love them- they're vegan, and they come with this super tasty sweet and sour taco sauce that absolutely makes the dish. They brought out the tacos fairly quickly, and I was very grateful to have something I was sure would be tasty. But, dear reader, I was in for a surprise. Because wouldn't you know it, the taco sauce they gave me was not the sweet and sour taco sauce that comes with the tacos. It was a weird, spicy sauce that tasted like Heinz 57 mixed with a little tapatio. It was ok, but was not what I ordered. At this point, I just wanted to get out of there and wasn't about to complain again. And who knows how long it would've taken if I had asked for the right sauce. My husband and I were ready to go, so we tried to make it pretty obvious. We sat, not eating, for 20 minutes while trying unsuccessfully to get the attention of any server we could. My husband finally went and got someone to let our server know we were ready to go so that we could get our bill and leave. I'll be honest, I probably won't be back. Being vegan and finding restaurants to eat at is difficult as it is, but this experience was the final nail in the coffin. I feel bad that I've recently recommended this restaurant to clients from out of town, and will not do so in the future. read more

Me and my husband have been here multiple times over the years and we absolutely love this place but the last time we went it was a very different experience, first off my husband is vegetarian and ordered the chicken fried steak off the vegetarian menu, I made sure with the server it was vegetarian and I ordered the steak salad, we also got an order of the vegan poutine as an appetizer and that was really good, when he got his food he took about 2 bites and he saw what he thought was plastic but when I checked it out it was a full shrimp tail! Which is a huge cross contamination especially if someone has an allergy, we told the server and he quickly took it back and said they'd make a new one right away, we got the new one and he took a couple bites and there was MORE shrimp in the VEGETARIAN dish, my husband had to go get the server and at that point we were done, they took it off the bill and one of his drinks but it was overall not a good experience this time and there was definitely some cross contamination going on in the kitchen, I really hope they have talked to the back of the house and explained why that is very not okay talked to the person that made our food. read more

First impressions when meeting the host when stepping into this establishment was perfect. Knew I had selected the right restaurant. He was super friendly and engaging. Wait was very short. Seated in a very nice room our server was just like the hostess. What a delightful experience with him. Recommendations were brief and once food was chosen wine was served professionally. I was in town traveling on my own having never been in Olympia before and felt so welcome here, they are the definition of service. Loved my Po'boy and salad, a little pricy but 100% worth it. Delicious food! 4 of us had lunch here last Sunday. The ambiance is very nostalgic with oldies playing in the back ground. The men's bathroom is adorned with pictures of people with the first name of "Dick". The other bathroom is adorned with pictures of people with the first name of "Jane". (Bathrooms are unisex) The service was pretty good for such a very busy restaurant. It started out as superior than as it got busier it kind of waned down to just good. Just not superior which was understandable since the guy was running around. Still he gets 5 stars for effort! The food is delicious! Everyone loved what they had. My son had the pastrami burger and loved it! I had the two different sausage Patty sandwich and thought it was delicious. My brothers had the Thai or Vietnamese beef sandwich and liked it. This place is great! My wife and I had a long day of work and looking for a place in Olympia that we have not yet tried. And my wife has been here 50 years! Any who..... The place is clean and quiet which is important to me with my difficulty hearing. We split a steak salad and poutine. The salad was fresh with plenty of steak and homemade ranch. We are only in town a couple days. Walked by yesterday and the place looked good so we came back today to check it out. We sat at a booth for a while and watched some Monday Night Football. The interior is decorated with a mix of Pacific Northwest and icons. It is fun to around and identify different items. Once we got service it was great. We waited about 20 minutes. Not sure what happened there but the next booth that was seated after us were waited on quickly with drink orders right away and checked on frequently. We eventually flagged someone down to ask if we could order and flustered at first by hearing we hadn't received service they helped us out the rest of the time and it was good from there on out. Thank you, Rowan! I asked to sample some IPAs, and for food suggestions, and we ordered food and desserts. The keg blew of the beer I intended to order so Rowan suggested another and it was delicious. We had the coho with the fried risotto cake, grilled romaine, Reuben with side salad, cheesecake of the day, brown sugar pie, and the vegan cheesecake. The menu here is impressive and there's a whole veggie/vegan menu as well as omni options. When I'm back in town I would come back for the food and maybe watch another game. This is a must stop spot in Olympia, friends! I ordered the lemon caper veggie pasta and it was packed with so much flavor, that I could not put it down fast enough! The seasoning of the pasta and vegetables cut with the tart of the lemon has me salivating just thinking about this dish. The restaurant ambiance was also very fun with a Sasquatch/forest theme! It was cozy (yes, even with Sasquatch watching), the service was wonderful, and the food came out just in time.
