Uptown grill was great! We came in an hour before close hoping for a quick dinner. We ordered the chicken pot pie and a chicken adobo bowl. The pot pie was good- very homey and nostalgic. The chicken adobo bowl was amazing! I want to return to try the other bowls they had because this one was great! I didn't like how they fill the bowl to the rim because as soon as I mixed it up so much fell out. I prefer when they just use a bigger bowl. Had a lovely brunch with my good friends. Uptown Grill is halfway between us now that I've moved to Vancouver, WA, so she drive from Seattle & we meet for Sunday brunch. We were on our way back from the coast and wanted to stop for lunch. We found the Uptown Grill and what an amazing find it was! The menu looked incredible and there were a ton of options we wanted to try. In the end we chose the Scratch Chicken Pot Pie and were not disappointed. It was simply incredible. I do love me some pot pie and get it whenever I see it on the menu. This was probably the best I've had. I highly recommend. If you like it a little spicy, ask for their house-made hot sauce. It is damn fine...in fact, it was so good I bought a bottle bring home. :) We loved everything about our experience, the food, the atmosphere, and especially the friendly staff. If 4.0 is your gauge for average then this is above. Not necessarily a must try but if you are looking for a pleasant place with good food then this is your spot. Food, service and atmosphere were excellent. It is a place my group found ourselves sitting after the meal to chat and enjoy the atmosphere. For someone like me that is rare. Everything has to be just right, not only the food and atmosphere but the the moods and people you are with as well. Normally I'm a eat and retreat kind of person. The braised pork poutine was exceptional and a must get, large enough to share between 4 people. Be careful if your main meal comes with fries though, as it might turn into French fries overload. I didn't try the Beef Stroganoff but my mother in law cleaned the plate (which is rare for her) so I'd assume it was good Slow-Roasted California Tri-Tip BBQ Steak Sandwich was delicious, a little too much sauce but the flavors were great and steak was perfectly sliced / cooked. Loved the caramelized onions and additional onion ring inside. The French fries were also very good that came with the Sandwhich We got our kids Milk Shakes, Fried Chicken & French Fries. I unfortunately can't say much about Uptown Grill's food beyond their sweet potato fries which were absolutely delicious when paired with honey mustard however, I can say that my experience here was wonderful and I will be back again. The service was fantastic with our waitress being extremely kind, personable and just downright great at her job. She made us feel welcome and took great care to recommend, check in on us and ensure we had what we needed. It wasn't too terribly busy and we were able to get a table for our bigger group with space around us. Very comfortable atmosphere in a busy spot. Parking in the area can be tough so there may be a bit of a walk to get here because of that. Now the food and drinks. As I said above, the sweet potato fries were so good! They were crispy yet soft and flavored perfectly. I also tried a spicy margarita drink that was recommended to me with a tequila that I believe they mentioned was house-made and black salt. It was surprisingly good and I could see it pairing well with some of their other dinner offerings. I wasn't as big of a fan of the huckleberry lemon drop but I am not a huge fan of the subtle floral notes. Delicious scratch-kitchen in downtown Olympia. They make the strawberry lemonade themselves and it was a great sweet yet sour refreshing drink. The Australian Wagyu burgers were perfect! The sweet potato fries too! And the sauce they make to dip was a slightly sweet and savory blueberry honey mustard. I would love to use that dip for so many things! Ok, so we have been back..twice. The second trip we saw the same server as before but luckily we got someone else and she was great. That time I went with a burger and it was ok. The menu does say you can't change what's on it, you'll have to order the customized burger but when I asked our server if that's really the case just to not have onions she said not to worry and that made me happy. The third time we went is because I received a gift certificate and well it's a free meal. We got the most awesome server this time, who was personable, knowledgeable and fun! I went back to the Gorgonzola Mac and added pork this time and it was smothered in oil but good. My husband got the pork chop with brussells and sweet potatoes and when I tried it, I was jealous because it was sooo delicious. If you're not paying attention, they will add a 'scratch' fee to your bill. Basically an additional tip for the cooks, but who knows if the cooks ever know how much they should really get on a daily basis. With already high prices, this is another way to screw the customer. read more

Went to downtown Oly for the first time and decided to try Uptown out. There is a open floor concept with seat yourself. It seeded pretty clean, I didn't see any build up anywhere and no funky smells. The menu is robust and had really good options. I ordered the pot pie and was not disappointed. My wife had the macNcheese and said it should come with bread. I tried it and liked it, but agreed with her. The server was a bit dry and hard to hear when he spoke. We asked for some extra napkins and never received them. My water ran out, but I was wrapped up and could have spoken up. Overall I will go back, I may ask for a different server if hes there again. I came just for the pot pie. The croissant crust, ample gravy, and succulent carrots complimented delicious turkey chunks in this magnificent version of the turkey pot pie. I loved every second of it and wished my wife had stayed home so I could have greedily ate this wonderful of Washington. The uptown grill is an interesting space. We sat on the less crowded side, however, we learned this side can be rented out for private parties. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly when answering our plethora of questions. We both tried the Steak Mediterranean Bowl. Overall, the dish didn't quite work. The steak and yogurt sauce were amazing, and the steak was very well seasoned. The mixed greens worked well as a salad. The Spanish Rice was good by itself, but for us it didn't work when taken as a whole with the rest of the dish. Individually, great, but it loses something when put together. For dessert we had a S'mores Brownie. It was very good, without any part being overwhelming.
