My mom was actually with me this time and I almost slapped her. That's right. My hot honey chicken sandwich with house made pickles, a side of fries (amazing and crispy) with garlic aioli- was a slap yo mamma food. I don't know how they did it but the chkn was crispy in every bite, the bacon was crispy ALL OVER.. I was astounded. My daughter (10) had a cheeseburger kids meal- SO MUCH FOOD! Mom had brunch. We were all very pleased. Service was excellent, prompt. Water didn't taste like a pool, the atmosphere was relaxed and casual. Lots of families there. Good for anyone! I thought some of the food was just okay but I loved the location. Sitting right on the docks it was perfect for a Saturday morning. They have a great view. Service was really friendly and timely. Some of the food fell a bit flat for me though. The ceviche needed more salt and more citrus. It was a bit tasteless. I know I'd have liked my Croque Madame a lot more had I had them leave off the smoked salmon. I didn't think it paired very well with the Dijon béchamel. I asked for the greens instead of hash browns and they came without any dressing at all. Vinaigrette would have been preferred over just dry leaves. The food was amazing we had the fried oyster Banh mi and the Fish and chips, outside on their patio because we had our dog and they were so accommodating for him that they brought him his own water bowl with ice water, so sweet. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE IN 60+ YEARS OF LIFE :( We literally sat on their patio for over an hour and WATCHED several groups of people (including a party of about 12) come in order, get their food, eat their meal, pay their bill and leave, AND WERE STILL SITTING THERE WAITING FOR OUR FOOD. Our server came by once to thank us for our patience and tell us our food would be right out. Which it wasn't. About 15 minutes after saying it would be right out they came to say it would be out in 6 minutes. 15 minutes later, it still wasn't out. Now it's cold, we can't go inside because we have a dog, the beer I was nursing for my meal was warm and the 2 hours I paid for at parking is almost up, and I'm not going all the way back there to add more time. So I went inside to say we were leaving and not paying. At this point they have the nerve to say to me "well can't you see we're really busy." My reply was that weren't too busy to seat, serve, feed and collect payment from THREE GROUPS THAT CAME IN AFTER US. In fact, every single table in that busy, busy place was seated and served EXCEPT US. We drove almost an hour to get there too, and then an hour back, with no lunch. read more

We went on Saturday morning for brunch. We were seated immediately. I prefer to eat outside at this restaurant since it is right by the water, but the inside is nice, too. Our waitress was great. She was fast and made sure we were always topped off with our drinks. The food was reasonably priced, and it tasted good. I didn't care for the hash browns because they were a tad burned, but I liked how the pieces were chunkier. I also didn't like the palmier--it was a little bland. ***Patented pre-review tips*** If you'd like to try Row but they look pricey, Costco often has gift cards for them at great savings. I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place yet; it's one of my favorite restaurants in the South Sound! I've been so many times I have to sort of sum up my experiences in an abridged version. 1. The food is always amazing. The steak salad, salmon salad, oyster poboy, garlic fries, and literally everything on the brunch menu have been home runs with me and my family. 2. The fish and chips are among the best if not THE best in the region. It's not a fish place, so this doesn't make a ton of sense, but they nailed it. 3. Kids meals are very good food for very good prices. A special shout-out to the kids cheeseburgers; I've had worse burgers at much more burger-centric places and at much higher price points. The kids burger is not the sad pucks so many places insult kids by serving. 4. Street parking can usually be found nearby, but they don't have a private lot. 5. I have literally only ever sat on the patio, so I can't speak to the indoor service or seating, but it's one of the more spacious and well-served patios in town. 6. The service is *generally* great. The only time it's been sub-par has been one particular server. I won't name names but most recently he served us on the day of the 2025 Pride festival (if anyone there cares to look into it), although we've had other interactions, and each time we go "Oh yeah, this guy again." Our last visit with him saw us completely ignored after our food was dropped off (the restaurant lost out on at least two more alcoholic drink sales because of this), bring out the adults' food several minutes before the kids', asked if we wanted garlic aioli OR ranch for the fries in a tone that implied they were included but then charged us for them (so the restaurant got those sneaky upsales, but not any more beer or mimosa sales; well done!), didn't bring the right fish quantity on the fish and chips, and again, literally never came back after food was dropped off until he showed up with a check. I wouldn't put so much emphasis on this if it wasn't the same kind of service we have always gotten from this server and this server only at Row. Everyone else has been stellar. This guy cost a star in this review and has now cost several dollars in sales for the restaurant. Hopefully we have the wherewithal to ask for a different server if we end up in his section next time. The positives FAR exceed the negatives here though, and we will be Row customers as long as we live here. read more

I like the extra garlicky french fries but this time I had the shrimp bahn mi and it was very vinegary because of the slaw, instead of rich from mayo and pate which you expect from bahn mis. although I appreciated the clean flavors, it also feltlike that's something so easy you shouldn't be missing components. Still, we had a great time because of the company we kept. The waitress was also very accommodating and when half our party didn't show up in time, they still seated us, which I thought was so customer friendly. I realized they were able to do that because the restaurant wasn't at capacity and we had enough people in our party to make it hard to get another table if they had to pass us up, but I'm a rules person who expects to be held by rules, so it was nice that in this case, I wasn't. read more

From the moment we walked in, we were struck by its rustic coastal ambiance a laid-back, welcoming space that feels both polished and comfortably local. The chicken was perfectly crispy, the tangy hot sauce brought the right amount of heat, and the crispy bacon added a savory punch. The food is a bit pricey for what it is. I was disappointed that the Nashville Hot Chicken isn't close to a Nashville Hot Chicken. I gave this place two tries. The first time the sandwich came out with mayo on it, after asking for it to be served without. It was evident that it was a quick bun swap and wipe off tactic. I sat outside the second time which was nice to enjoy the harbor. If I were to come back to Olympia, there are other places I would go for a better and cheaper meal. read more

Delicious food, great location, and top notch quality kids menu food. A favorite brunch and lunch spot for our family. Good spot for foodies with kids to feed. Little expensive for adult meals, but the menu items we love are worth the cost. (Less fennel on the menu would be nice though?) I tried the shrimp ceviche - it looked good, lots of shrimp ( whole)- when it arrived but unfortunately it really lacked flavor and that punch citrus. Service: awesome! Super friendly, fun and knowledgeable staff. Ambiance: modern, clean, fun. The place is smaller but doesn't feel cramped. The location by the water and convenient parking lot is a huge plus. Food: pretty good. Missed the mark slightly on the fried oyster "bahn mi". The oysters could have been soaked in milk before breading and frying to reduce the overly fishy taste. Don't get me wrong: I ate a LOT of oysters on this trip and half my family hails from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but this was a painfully fishy oyster dish. Also, there were only about 5-6 oysters in the sandwich, which had me wishing I'd ordered the grilled cod version. Fries were great. We stopped in to Row for the first time after we got turned away at Anthony's because they were on their "grace period" and I must say the decision couldn't have been better. I had Salmon Niçoise salad and my husband had the fish and chips. Both dishes were delicious. I live when I can find a clean lunch choice like the Salmon Niçoise salad. I'm a serious food critic and foodie. I've been to 100s of countries and eaten in countless Michelin restaurants. We recently moved from Europe where food is farm to table fresh without overly heavily sweetened or heavily salted sauces, replaced by the popular cooperate farming of the US. I have eaten at Row countless times solely because of its fresh dishes, as it is one of the few places in Olympia that doesn't make me nauseous. The Stake n Frites, chowders and salads are well beyond satisfying and elevate to scrumptious. My accompaniments and I have tried everything on the menu (with respect to my food allergies) more than once. I give their fresh food a solid 4.5 stars with some room to grow in balancing traditional flavors with their desire to be popular, the service is a 4.8 stars and their pier side cafe/pub ambiance is a perfect 5. Out of my countless returns here, I can count on one hand the number of times that the service was actually bad or that the food was less than 4 stars. I noticed that certain times of the day affected my food and food service. I prefer the afternoon over evenings. If the owner is wise, they would address their (even if only a few), apparent gaps in training, in addition to actually reading through their reviews, and consider temporarily removing oyster and calamari dishes replacing them with a retraining day. Dishes like Báhn Mi and Ceviche are slightly misplaced on this Pacific coastal menu, and the superb hot Chicken Sandwich that my entire family and groups of friends think it's utterly delicious, actually tastes nothing of the southeast US region and could perhaps benefit from a rename. Popped in for lunch with hubby. He had the special rockfish sandwich. Probably would have asked to hold the Sriracha if he'd known. I had the cedar planked salmon with bacon, fennel, and tomatoes. Salmon was good, but would not order again as the tomatoes were more of a sauce, which I did not care for. We each had a cocktail, the Bee's Knees (gin, lemon, honey syrup). Drink was tasty but the gin was very weak. Hubby ordered a ginger cello (lemon) which bartender made from scratch. It was tasty but also weak. Ordered dessert key lime pie which was very good. Row is a quick walk down the waterfront from the Market (where we were grabbing veggies). We were seated quickly and our server, Tyler, was very prompt - taking our drink orders and informing us about the specials. The in-house hibiscus iced tea is awesome (not so great to spill on yourself though...). The two menus made choosing very hard so we ordered the shrimp toast to get started while we pondered the choices. The shrimp toast was excellent and the Thai slaw was very tasty. Everyone enjoyed the shrimp toast and continued to refer to it during our meal. We ordered the Hang Town Fry omelette, smoked salmon hash, and the clam spaghetti. The arugula in the salmon hash was a great addition! The hash itself was very good. The wine sauce with pepper flakes on the spaghetti was very flavorful. The locally sourced pasta was perfectly done. The oysters in the omelette were well fried: still soft but not at all greasy. The portions are large - too large for us to manage a dessert. We had the Nashville Hot Chiclen but we held the Honey Hot sauce off to the side: glad we did! While it was delicious, it was very very spicy.
