Restaurant

My mom was actually with me this time and I almost slapped her. That's right. My hot honey chicken sandwich with house made pickles, a side of fries (amazing and crispy) with garlic aioli- was a slap yo mamma food. I don't know how they did it but the chkn was crispy in every bite, the bacon was crispy ALL OVER.. I was astounded. My daughter (10) had a cheeseburger kids meal- SO MUCH FOOD! Mom had brunch. We were all very pleased. Service was excellent, prompt. Water didn't taste like a pool, the atmosphere was relaxed and casual. Lots of families there. Good for anyone! I bet this place is jumping in the summer with the patio seating. Will be coming back!!

Kids Fish n Chips and the Salmon Caesar

Great food and service. My Salmon Caesar was delicious and our toddler loved his Fish N Chips. Everything on the menu sounded tasty, it was hard to choose. We will be back next time we're in Olympia!

We went on Saturday morning for brunch. We were seated immediately. I prefer to eat outside at this restaurant since it is right by the water, but the inside is nice, too. Our waitress was great. She was fast and made sure we were always topped off with our drinks. The food was reasonably priced, and it tasted good. I didn't care for the hash browns because they were a tad burned, but I liked how the pieces were chunkier. I also didn't like the palmier--it was a little bland. Overall, we were satisfied, and we will be going back!

After coming here several times for lunch, I'm comfortable saying this is a personal favorite. A bright space close to the marina, it's always a pleasure to sit at the bar. The food is fresh and creative. Staff are attentive.

***Patented pre-review tips*** If you'd like to try Row but they look pricey, Costco often has gift cards for them at great savings. I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place yet; it's one of my favorite restaurants in the South Sound! I've been so many times I have to sort of sum up my experiences in an abridged version. 1. The food is always amazing. The steak salad, salmon salad, oyster poboy, garlic fries, and literally everything on the brunch menu have been home runs with me and my family. 2. The fish and chips are among the best if not THE best in the region. It's not a fish place, so this doesn't make a ton of sense, but they nailed it. 3. Kids meals are very good food for very good prices. A special shout-out to the kids cheeseburgers; I've had worse burgers at much more burger-centric places and at much higher price points. The kids burger is not the sad pucks so many places insult kids by serving. 4. Street parking can usually be found nearby, but they don't have a private lot. 5. I have literally only ever sat on the patio, so I can't speak to the indoor service or seating, but it's one of the more spacious and well-served patios in town. 6. The service is *generally* great. The only time it's been sub-par has been one particular server. I won't name names but most recently he served us on the day of the 2025 Pride festival (if anyone there cares to look into it), although we've had other interactions, and each time we go "Oh yeah, this guy again." Our last visit with him saw us completely ignored after our food was dropped off (the restaurant lost out on at least two more alcoholic drink sales because of this), bring out the adults' food several minutes before the kids', asked if we wanted garlic aioli OR ranch for the fries in a tone that implied they were included but then charged us for them (so the restaurant got those sneaky upsales, but not any more beer or mimosa sales; well done!), didn't bring the right fish quantity on the fish and chips, and again, literally never came back after food was dropped off until he showed up with a check. I wouldn't put so much emphasis on this if it wasn't the same kind of service we have always gotten from this server and this server only at Row. Everyone else has been stellar. This guy cost a star in this review and has now cost several dollars in sales for the restaurant. Hopefully we have the wherewithal to ask for a different server if we end up in his section next time. The positives FAR exceed the negatives here though, and we will be Row customers as long as we live here.

I've already visited twice and both times I wasn't crazy about it. I like the extra garlicky french fries but this time I had the shrimp bahn mi and it was very vinegary because of the slaw, instead of rich from mayo and pate which you expect from bahn mis. although I appreciated the clean flavors, it also feltlike that's something so easy you shouldn't be missing components. Still, we had a great time because of the company we kept. The waitress was also very accommodating and when half our party didn't show up in time, they still seated us, which I thought was so customer friendly. I realized they were able to do that because the restaurant wasn't at capacity and we had enough people in our party to make it hard to get another table if they had to pass us up, but I'm a rules person who expects to be held by rules, so it was nice that in this case, I wasn't.

The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

We chose ROW for a recent date night, and it absolutely delivered on every level. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by its rustic coastal ambiance a laid-back, welcoming space that feels both polished and comfortably local. I went with the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and wow, it was a flavor bomb. The chicken was perfectly crispy, the tangy hot sauce brought the right amount of heat, and the crispy bacon added a savory punch. Paired with their garlic fries fresh, golden, and perfectly seasoned it was a knockout meal. My wife ordered the Fish and Chips, and it was another winner. The fish was lightly breaded, crisped to perfection, and had a clean, flavorful taste that didn't need much more. A special shoutout to Abagail, who took fantastic care of us throughout the evening. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm she made our experience even better. Between the great food, cool atmosphere, and stellar service, ROW truly nailed the date night vibe. We'll definitely be back. Once again this was just my experience!!!

Nice location and feel to the restaurant. The service was great. I tried the shrimp ceviche - it looked good, lots of shrimp ( whole)- when it arrived but unfortunately it really lacked flavor and that punch citrus. It seriously tasted like store bought pico de gallo and then they dropped in some shrimp. No love in there at all. I'll give it another go sometime- but overall unimpressed.

Ask the Community - Row

Is there handicapped parking readily available?

Unfortunately, no. And the street parking can be a bit problematic. If you're looking to eat near the water, Budd Bay cafe has very good handicapped parking and Anthony's across from the farmers market has handicapped parking .

Do they do reservations?

As of May 25 2022, they do not. It is first come first serve.

The ambience is beautiful inside…read more The best part of the Baked Eggs dish was the cheese. The cheese was so flavorful, creamy, and delicious. Next best was the bread - it was perfectly soft inside with a crispy crust. Between how oily the dish was and my nose running from the increased spice as I continued eating, I wouldn't return for this dish. The eggs weren't noticeable in appearance or taste- I had to search for them. The "creamy grits" were creamy, but the black pepper taste was STRONG. Definitely ordered the side for the "creamy" factor, hoping when the server said harissa in the eggs would have a mild spice, that the grits would calm my mouth. The amount of pepper made this unsuccessful. But if you like black pepper a lot then you'll enjoy them. My son enjoyed the beignet's. The server was also the host and he was kind. It was easy to get his attention when needed. I didn't see anyone with a grin on their face after taking bites of their food. I looked around quite a bit out of curiosity. So for ambiance, kind and prompt service, and the possibilities of the menu I gave it 4 stars. We only tried the few things I mentioned. I did also appreciate the bottle of water ready on every table. Note that there is no kids menu and it's mostly table seating. So maybe try on your own or with other adults, and leave the kids at home?

Handful of small plates available for happy hour with the purchase of a drink. I got the onion burger, shrimp skewer, and asparagus. The burger was juicy and a great size. It also came with a handful of matchstick fries. I really enjoyed the shrimp skewer as well. My friend tried the lobster bisque. The soup was delicious, but it was more of a tomato soup with chunks of lobster. Will definitely go back for dinner some time. They also had a great selection of whiskey. I also really enjoyed the ambiance.

She was pleasant and sat us in the sunshine on the patio. I was sad to see so few patrons. I will review the best part first: THE COCKTAILS: The spirits and craft cocktail selection was huge / the beer & wine not so much. My Old Fashioned was perfect! Food: Seafood Rosé Pasta (bay scallops, shrimp, northwest manila clams, rosé prosecco cream sauce, grilled bread) -- inconsistent cook on the different seafoods & the sauce was meh. Not worth $42.00 Grilled Romaine Salad (white balsamic bleu cheese dressing, gorgonzola, cherry tomatoes, aleppo toasted hazelnuts) -- plenty of romaine, could've been grilled longer / not much quantity of tomatoes or toasted hazelnuts -- basically a "side salad" for $15.00 Lobster Bisque (house smoked tomatoes, roasted red pepper, cream, butter poached langoustine lobster) -- tasted more like roasted tomato / red pepper soup (no lobster or seafood flavors) - there were 4 small pieces of poached?? langoustine lobster on top - I question poached because the pieces definitely had a bite to them. Worth $15.00 -- no. Due to reviews we had the Baklava Crumble (pistachios, honey, vanilla ice cream) -- basically cut up (very chewy, not crispy) baklava tossed over ice cream for $14.00 -- maybe a bad night for this dessert? We like to support small Olympia businesses and will go back for cocktails but the food costs are too high - we don't mind high costs IF we come away satisfied - unfortunately the food didn't measure up to the cost. As we drove away, we saw the "Budd Bay Cafe" was very busy - I think next time we'll have cocktails at Cynara, then cross the street for food and wine. We were intrigued with the "Clam Chowder Entrée" which is served à la minute (Washington manila clams, bacon, cream, celery, roasted potatoes, grilled bread) -- is it a deconstructed chowder?? $33.00 Sorry no pics.

The food was just alright, but I was disappointed with what I got and was expecting more quality for the price. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Who and I was given a plate with a small handful of still-crunchy sliced bell peppers and zucchini that seemed that they had been in contact with heat for all of 30 seconds next to a pile of potatoes that were cold from sitting. The chicken breast was just meh, not very thick, not very moist, not very seasoned, not very much of it. Small amount of sliced prosciutto on top. I just think for $30 this was a ripoff by at least 1/3 of the price; I would expect an actual chicken cordon bleu at that price instead of this quick-service deconstruction. The blackberry mojito I ordered for I think $15 tasted pretty good but was missing the presence and flavor of any alcohol so there was no complexity, just ended up being a $15 refreshing fruit drink. My husband ordered an appetizer (Sirloin Diablo) for $27 and got a small bowl of steak tips submerged in a barely spicy (Diablo?) cajun cream sauce like a soup surrounded by some painfully plain, thin, unseasoned, boring grilled bread. It's not bad or very good by any means and just wasn't his thing, but charging almost $30 for that? At their prices and the way they are presented I was expecting a really satisfying dinner but walked away feeling like I would've been just as happy eating some standard fare at a local diner for half the cost.
