I wanted to like this tailor SO BADLY especially because she's super sweet. I'm sure she's an amazing seamstress for other garments, but I would advise against specifically bringing your WEDDING DRESS here. I brought my wedding dress in here to have the length altered and to add a bustle. Maybe I was too naive and trusting, but I gave her permission to do the bustle as she pleased since I trusted her expertise. She quoted me $350 which was an amazing price! My qualm, however, is with the quality of the alterations I received. She did an American bustle on my dress, which just made me look like I had a diaper on. When I brought up my concerns, she just brushed them off. I had to bring my dress to another seamstress to re-do the bustle, where I also found out that the bottom seam of the dress was entirely uneven. I am receiving a $50 refund for the failed bustle but when I brought up the uneven length to her, she completely dismissed my concerns and hung up the phone on me. So now I'm stuck paying an additional $400 to get the SAME, EXACT alterations at a different location. If you're looking for a seamstress in the Pasadena/San Marino area, then I highly recommend Perfect Fit Design & Alterations! They're extremely knowledgeable! read more

Excellent work and one week turn around. Does everything from jeans to evening gowns perfectly.

My cat clawed and pulled on a nice dress shirt of mine leaving it ruined. It had pulled threads holes etc. I brought it in to this tailor and she legit fixed it in 5 minutes. Super fast. I thought my shirt was completely ruined given the state of it and she made it look almost brand new in 5 minutes. I will definitely be bringing all of my items here in the future. She does very amazing work and is the most polite. read more

Luong is amazing. She has done so much work for my husband and I. Always fair or quick turnaround times and prices are fair for the quality of her work. We moved out of the area but still return here to get our alterations bc she's the only person we trust. read more

It's very simple. If you need a really good tailor, this is the place. The owner is wonderful. You won't be disappointed

I see people are saying her name is Luong (she told me I could call her La). She is amazing, friendly, and an expert!! She has fixed many clothes for both my husband and me. And she always does a great job! She has a little fitting room for you to change into your clothes to show her what you need altered. And she gives her professional advice if something shouldn't or can't be altered a certain way. Pricing is fair and she does a quality job! (Example, to alter pant length, it was around $40. And these were nice pants. I also had a shirt altered and it was $10 so it really depends on the clothing quality and what needs to be fixed). I highly recommend her!!!! read more

We brought my husbands JCrew suit for alterations as off the rack the fit wasn't quite right. Luong expertly and efficiently took up the sleeves, took in the waist, shortened and took in the pants for a very reasonable price and quick turnaround. We're both very pleased with the result! Not to mention we found Luong to be a very friendly and lovely person. read more

I'm so glad to have found South Lake Tailor! I've been taking my clothing to her for over a year now. Her attention to detail and matching the original hem/stitching is A+. She is also very helpful about determining how a garment can best be altered, including noting when the length or width is actually OK and needs nothing. Her prices are very reasonable. read more

Overall does a great job and super convenient location with quick turn around but slightly overpriced in my opinion. Friendly service. Still worth it but something to note. read more

I can't say I've tailored a lot of my clothes in my lifetime, but this shop made it so easy for a novice like me. I had a bridesmaid dress that I was swimming in. The shapeless dress was making me so anxious until I came here. In two weeks time, she got my dress in amazing shape. I did my best to be honest about my concerns, so that she could make me happy with her solution. It hugged the right places, and my body took a form again! The service cost more than the dress itself, and worth every penny. She did a fantastic job. The dress was returned to me in solid construction, worthy of the expense. So this shop is on my go-to list as long as I live in the area. read more

Great place. I've had several suits tailored there and the owner does an amazing job. She knows her stuff.

She did such as amazing job hemming my gown. I'm wearing the gown to the Academy Awards so I was very nervous dropping off my $600.00 gown. But she did a wonderful job and hemmed it just right without damaging any of the delicate fabric. The woman that runs the place is really nice and experienced. You can tell she knows what she is doing and has a steady supply of customers. I will use her again for my tailoring needs. read more

Coming from a family where my mother worked in the garment industry making clothes and growing up making my own clothes/ doing my alterations, it's a BIG deal to find a tailor that I can say is meticulous and skilled. After numerous items coming back uneven and so poorly done by my local dry cleaners I had to find a better place before my wedding. I took a chance taking my dresses here based solely off of the other yelp reviews but this is one of those times where I can attest that the reviews were actually real. She did a perfect job thank goodness! I have 0 complaints. She added boning to the dresses to help keep them from bunching when she took them in and the way she did it I didn't even feel it. I'm honestly really impressed. No bumps, everything laid perfectly even. My only suggestion would be to accept cards or Venmo because it is an inconvenience to have to take cash out. But she does let you know how much it's going to cost when you drop it off so you can show up prepared. This is the tailor for people who love their clothes and need to take their one of a kind vintage pieces somewhere. It's really exciting to have found a tailor that I won't be worrying about the finished product with! read more

She's super friendly and amazing! She fix a silk dress for me and had it done in time, plus the price is good. I'll be coming back again.

Pro: Excellent tailoring for my personalized medical scrub top, happy with the tailoring results. Con: the pricing was quite exorbitant for the work. The scrub top (which is comparable to a nice T shirt) was big for me and needed to be tailored down. Tailoring cost me $40. The scrub top itself costs about $40. And I've gotten similar good work done before for 10-20$ but decided to try a closer tailor for convenience and ended up paying double. I paid the $40 as a lesson to myself to ask for the pricing before I get tailoring since fair pricing obviously has different meaning to different people. I don't know for what reason she charged me $40 for tailoring a stub top (and I will try not to speculate at this point), but if I knew it would be $40 for straight forward tailor, I would've just donated these scrubs and bought new ones, then at least I get tax deduction for the donation. read more

Excellent quality and service and so nice and friendly. Perfectly sized down my husband's dress shirt. Will definitely return in the future!

Luong is amazing! I've gotten four jeans resized with her and I am so happy with the results. She is located in the Burlington Arcade; it's a lovely building that gives major Harry Potter Diagon Alley vibes, lol. Her work is incredible and I also appreciate how timely she is -- if she says the clothes will be ready in a week, she means it. There's no willy nilly deadline like I've encountered with other tailors. She accepts both cash and card, but cash is preferable to her. There is free parking at the back of the block; it's free for the first 90minutes (maybe 2hrs?) but after that you have to pay. It's more than enough time to drop off or pick up your clothes. :) read more

Had a polo that fit more like a dress. She was able to shorten it in a couple of days. Very reasonable price for quality work. The seams looks better than from the factory. Very friendly. Nice little shop in a beautiful outdoor shopping plaza. Thanks again for making me feel more confident in this shirt! read more

The customer service and quality of craft were terrific. I first reached out to South Lake Tailor for alterations to my wedding gown and reception jumpsuit. The nature of this job is quite precarious, but it was worth the risk. Luong practiced restraint in alterations, and it turned out perfect in the end. My dress was tailored to perfection. Most importantly, the prices are reasonable. read more

She is a true expert and does beautiful work with great skill. Highly recommend South Lake Tailor.

I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and had put off the chore until a few weeks before the wedding. I called South Lake Tailor and she was available for me to stop in that same day and reminded me to bring the shoes I'd be wearing with the dress. When I arrived, she had me change into the dress (with the shoes) and quickly took measurements of where the hem should be. It took about 5 minutes and she promised it would be ready in 1 week and it only cost $40 to hem the double layer dress. A friend of mine took the same dress to a tailor in her area and it cost her $120!! I was very impressed by the service, professionalism, expertise, and cost of South Lake Tailor and will be recommending to everyone I know! Thank you!! read more

Luong is amazing. I've come to her on a couple occasions where I needed a quick turnaround on very important suits, and she's always come through for me. I owe South Lake Tailor a great deal for how good I looked on the weekend of my wedding. I got shirts, pants, suits (including my wedding suit) fit and styled here. I trust Luong's judgment for what adjustments will make me look the best. Her work is incredibly good: She fixed a hole in my sweater, and after I couldn't tell where it was. She can tailor garments incredibly fast, too: everything was done in about a week. She also was very willing to speed up timelines for alterations based on the event (when she learned that the suit was for my wedding, she offered to have it done right away). I've never had a tailor I've trusted more. read more

I went in for an alteration and was so disappointed by the response I got from the tailor here. She was rude and very dismissive I went to get my dress altered in LA with no trouble. She told me no one would be able to help me and she was very wrong. Maybe she specializes in more minimal work but I don't think her comments were very necessary. read more

Always perfect results. I couldn't ask for anything more. I have many clothing items I spent a good deal of $ on and she alters them to perfection- pant rise adjustments, coat sleeve lengths, blazer sleeve length and overall blazer length adjustments, scarf adjustments including length and removing tassels (I hate those). Very pleased with the work I had done on two dresses. One was hemmed and one I had the straps shortened. Will be back for sure!
