I wanted to like this tailor SO BADLY especially because she's super sweet. I'm sure she's an amazing seamstress for other garments, but I would advise against specifically bringing your WEDDING DRESS here. I brought my wedding dress in here to have the length altered and to add a bustle. Maybe I was too naive and trusting, but I gave her permission to do the bustle as she pleased since I trusted her expertise. She quoted me $350 which was an amazing price! My qualm, however, is with the quality of the alterations I received. She did an American bustle on my dress, which just made me look like I had a diaper on. When I brought up my concerns, she just brushed them off. I had to bring my dress to another seamstress to re-do the bustle, where I also found out that the bottom seam of the dress was entirely uneven. I am receiving a $50 refund for the failed bustle but when I brought up the uneven length to her, she completely dismissed my concerns and hung up the phone on me. So now I'm stuck paying an additional $400 to get the SAME, EXACT alterations at a different location. If you're looking for a seamstress in the Pasadena/San Marino area, then I highly recommend Perfect Fit Design & Alterations! They're extremely knowledgeable! read more

She did such as amazing job hemming my gown. I'm wearing the gown to the Academy Awards so I was very nervous dropping off my $600.00 gown. Coming from a family where my mother worked in the garment industry making clothes and growing up making my own clothes/ doing my alterations, it's a BIG deal to find a tailor that I can say is meticulous and skilled. After numerous items coming back uneven and so poorly done by my local dry cleaners I had to find a better place before my wedding. I took a chance taking my dresses here based solely off of the other yelp reviews but this is one of those times where I can attest that the reviews were actually real. She did a perfect job thank goodness! I have 0 complaints. She added boning to the dresses to help keep them from bunching when she took them in and the way she did it I didn't even feel it. I'm honestly really impressed. No bumps, everything laid perfectly even. My only suggestion would be to accept cards or Venmo because it is an inconvenience to have to take cash out. But she does let you know how much it's going to cost when you drop it off so you can show up prepared. This is the tailor for people who love their clothes and need to take their one of a kind vintage pieces somewhere. Pro: Excellent tailoring for my personalized medical scrub top, happy with the tailoring results. Con: the pricing was quite exorbitant for the work. The scrub top (which is comparable to a nice T shirt) was big for me and needed to be tailored down. Tailoring cost me $40. The scrub top itself costs about $40. And I've gotten similar good work done before for 10-20$ but decided to try a closer tailor for convenience and ended up paying double. I paid the $40 as a lesson to myself to ask for the pricing before I get tailoring since fair pricing obviously has different meaning to different people. I don't know for what reason she charged me $40 for tailoring a stub top (and I will try not to speculate at this point), but if I knew it would be $40 for straight forward tailor, I would've just donated these scrubs and bought new ones, then at least I get tax deduction for the donation. read more

Luong is amazing! I've gotten four jeans resized with her and I am so happy with the results. She is located in the Burlington Arcade; it's a lovely building that gives major Harry Potter Diagon Alley vibes, lol. Her work is incredible and I also appreciate how timely she is -- if she says the clothes will be ready in a week, she means it. There's no willy nilly deadline like I've encountered with other tailors. She accepts both cash and card, but cash is preferable to her. There is free parking at the back of the block; it's free for the first 90minutes (maybe 2hrs?) but after that you have to pay. It's more than enough time to drop off or pick up your clothes. :) read more

I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and had put off the chore until a few weeks before the wedding. I called South Lake Tailor and she was available for me to stop in that same day and reminded me to bring the shoes I'd be wearing with the dress. When I arrived, she had me change into the dress (with the shoes) and quickly took measurements of where the hem should be. It took about 5 minutes and she promised it would be ready in 1 week and it only cost $40 to hem the double layer dress.
