Jackie is a perfectionist and her prices seem unbeatable. I've never asked her to clean anything but I have had her sew, alter and repair things, including a thick leather jacket. She does it all expertly, sometimes while I wait. Super friendly. I continue to bring her new projects. She welcomes the challenge. There are a lot of little shops like these. I probably pass 20 of them to get to Jackie's. Well worth it. Highly recommended for motorcycle riders and clubs, as she's set up to work with leather and very experienced with sewing club patches. I've been there several times this year. Recently brought in thick leather riding pants and jacket. She took in the sleeves and pant legs, replaced the liners perfectly. I see a lot of formal gowns in there so that's probably her bread and butter. read more

Not only did Jackie agree to fix my dress overnight but I left her shop feeling very comfortable that it would turn out perfect. Jackie is absolutely great! I was looking for a place get my clothes altered and dry cleaned but I think I found it. The selling point of this place is that she adds that personal touch to all her work and she really relates well to her customers. So one day, I needed my pants altered for my work - of course all the other places required 2 to 3 days. But I called this place up after a yelp review and she told me she could do it in 30 min. And she did! That was awesome. While she was fixing my pants, she told me about her stories -- how she worked for some of the major designers and now she has her own business. And I have to say, she's not kidding -- her skills was reflected on my pants. So I took my jacket off and had her fix that up to. She did everything in like 40 min. Totally awesome. She's a amiable women, and I am definitely going there again! read more

It pains me to write negative reviews. But this Jackie person is shameful. I dropped 6 pairs of slacks to be hemmed almost 4 weeks ago. Jackie has lost them. She told me that her sister gave them to the wrong customer. However, I gotta say, my B.S. meter is spiking on that. What are the odds that this "other person" would have the same waist and pant-length as me? Wouldn't they return them when they realized it wasn't their stuff? I clearly and honestly suspect Jackie of theft. It was nearly $500 worth of brand new clothing. She has not even apologized to me! I beseech all Yelpers to please boycott this vendor. BTW - previous reviewers' comments about the chaotic state of her space is spot-on. Should have been a warning. read more

Nice lady, but totally flaked out on my dress alteration. I specifically told her that I needed it done by Wed before 2:00pm. She said no problem. But when I got there on Wed at 2, she hadn't even started it!!!!!... she said she thought I didn't need it until 5:00. Unbelievable!!! This dress was for a wedding that day. I had no choice but to wear it and hold the bottom off the floor that whole time! Inexcusable. Plus, her shop is a total mess, with piles of clothes stacked on the floor. I needed 6 curtains hemmed at the last minute. I called around a few local places. Jackie was the first to offer same day turnaround with an unbeatable price. My husband picked up the curtains and she had them ready just as promised! Everyone else wanted 24-72 hours and their pricing was well over what Jackie quoted me. I dropped off the curtains and Jackie was very friendly, personable and even funny. Just as I was leaving, another client stopped by and you could tell she was a long time customer by the way they greeted each other. I love supporting local neighborhood mom and pop shops and Jackie's Alterations and Cleaners is exactly that. Jackie rules... that's all there is to it. She does great work, does it quickly, and quite frankly, under-charges for it. Her customers cover a wide spectrum and her shop is in a quiet part of Pasadena, but she seems to love doing work for motorcycle clubs. She's the official unofficial seamstress of both the Pasadena Motorcycle Club and the Hye Riders Motorcycle Club. Based on a photograph I brought, she turned a ho hum Levi's jacket into a killer SOA-approved cut (well, if they made them out of denim)... all while I waited! Another shop made me wait a week for them to simply sew on a patch! I won't even mention what she charged me, because it clearly wasn't enough and she would not take a dollar more. You just don't encounter that kind of service anywhere. read more

Tiny place overflowing with stuff EVERYWHERE...however the work did get done after the second try. We had an easy alteration - hem a new pair of suit pants. The dressing room has a curtain that doesn't close and poor lighting. On the first try, the pants were still too long. To her credit, Jackie quickly fixed them overnight in time for a wedding. Would use again for a simply alterations, but don't know that I would take anything complex there. read more

Jackie is the BEST! I recently took a bridesmaid dress to Jackie and needed the dress ready in 3 days. The dress was too tight and I wanted it taken out but still wanted the dress to look fitted. She fixed my dress in 2 days and it was PERFECT. Her prices are more than fair and she was able to meet my short turnaround time with no problems. If you want something tailored I suggest you bring it to ME instead of this place. I don't know how to sew. I don't know anything about fabric. Hell, I don't even know what different 'cuts' are or what something pleated is. Here is what I can offer you: I am honest about my tailoring shortcomings. I am always at work during my business' WORK HOURS. I also pick up the phone and if I can't get to the phone for some reason you can leave me a voicemail.... PLUS, the bonus is that I'll call you back. When I tell you that I'll do something, I will. Even if it's tailoring a wedding dress, I'll try because I said I would and hey, I told you already I don't know what I'm doing. At least I'll give it a good try and you'll definitely get something back from me that has been altered. NOT SO FROM JACKIE. Here is what you will get: My fiancée brought her wedding dress here 3 months ago. I have nothing to do with this because I'm the groom and I shouldn't have anything to do with the dress. However, the wedding is in 8 days and YESTERDAY I had to leave work in the middle of the day to goto Jackie's and take the dress because she refused to give it back to my fiancée. It was supposed to be done a month ago, then 'next thursday'. When she went to pick it up only some hemming had been done. Why would you tell someone to come get a dress that isn't done? Well, then you say one more week. when that time comes don't ever pick up your phone. Don't be at work during your work hours. Then call and say you just have to put a button on it, come on Saturday. Oh wait... it rained. "I don't work when it rains" come back on wed. WHY DOESN'T SHE WORK WHEN IT RAINS? Because the floor is a huge mess and it floods when it rains. Also, she'll keep telling you that her husband has cancer and she has to goto the hospital and that's why it's not done. Sometimes her sister will pick up the phone or call (this might actually be her but faking that it's her sister) and her 'sister' will tell you that the dress is done. But then you go there and tell her that her sister called and said it's done but Jackie will then tell you "Oh, she doesn't know". Then if you're Jackie you will call another day and say it's done come get the dress but (this is the funny part) DON"T BE THERE!!! Then call the next day saying the dress is done and when the woman comes to get it have the thing completely apart! This is a great business model. She actually asked why we were taking the dress when it wasn't finished. I think she might not be all the way there mentally because I actually believe her that she doesn't understand. I tried to explain how she's had it for 3 months and done almost nothing and that we leave town in 6 days. Really, that was irrelevant so we just left with her saying "why? why? I'm working see?". Seriously, any 5 star rating is fake. I refuse to believe anyone would give this place even one star. I wish I could give it a negative two to make up for the obviously fake 5 star ratings because that's what I feel I'm owed from all of this stress! The one 5 star review that sounds similar to this .... Probably a 5 star because she hadn't gotten her dress back yet and was worried that if she put a negative review online she would never get her dress and then she forgot to change it to 1!!! My fiancée is getting this taken care of from a real tailor today who will actually get it done in 3 days instead of taking three months to only take the dress apart. AVOID JACKIE. read more

After posting note: I am going to go back one more time this weekend to see if she will can fix the the jeans to what I was wanting. If I have a better expereince I will change my rating for this post. I am hoping this experince will be much better as I have heard great things about her and would love to find a local quality alterations person to go to. This is the first time I have ever written a review but felt it was necessary in this case because of the bad experience I had with Jackie's. I work in the apparel industry and went to her because of the awesome reviews I read on Yelp. But here is my experience: I took 2 pairs of jeans to Jackie's to get altered into skinny jeans, which she said would be easy to do and be done in less than a week. When I called to confirm that she was open a week later so I could pick them up, her sister answered the phone and said Jackie was not there and I could not pick up my jeans because she did not know where they were. This happened for OVER a month. On 6 different occasions I would call to confirm they were open and either there was no answer during business hours or the sister answered giving me the same excuse as before. The last 2 conversations I had with the sister, she said she would call me back regarding my jeans and I never received a call. Finally, after a month and a week I got a hold of Jackie so I could pick up my altered jeans. When I got there, only 1 pair was done and the other pair was left unraveled bc she said she was not able to complete them due to a damage on the jean (don't you think she should have contacted me about this since I did give her my telephone number when dropping them off). Also, when I tried on the 1 pair that she supposedly altered... nothing had been done to them. I paid $15 for her to have the jeans for over a month with one pair exactly the same as I gave them to her and 1 pair taken apart without her sewing them back into the same condition I left them with her. I was extremely disappointed needless to say. She is a nice woman, but I would seriously not recommend her for your alterations. read more

Jackie does excellent tailoring, she worked on an old classic wool coat given to me by my mother. This coat is beautiful but the interior lining was in shreds! Jackie mended all the holes and stitching and it looks beautiful. I wouldn't have known it was ever in tatters. Plus, her prices are affordable! However, i would call her before you go there, she may be on an errand. I'd suggest to call before you pick up too, just to be sure :) read more

I have a textile motorcycle jacket that I really liked except for one thing, the elbow pads would easily slide out of position. Jackie tapered the arms of the jacket just right so the pads stay where they should, and she did it for an awesome price. Also, she is a very sweet woman. read more
