I can't be more thankful for finding this place. They were so patience with me and kind while I got my measurements for my wedding dress exactly how I wanted for my wedding day. Do not hesitate on choosing this place. They are honest and kind.
Such an awful, awful experience, they almost ruined my wedding dress. Going to Maya and Company turned out to be the worst and most stressful part of the my entire wedding planning process. I explained very clearly from the start exactly what I wanted, - my main request was to make the bust of the dress fit me. When I bought the dress it had large cups sewn in that I took out, however the shape of the dress needed some taking in. Instead of listening to what I said I wanted they decided to sew some more large cups back into the dress. The bust did not fit me at all, and when I asked for it to be fixed they told me it would be an extra $500, and even then there was little they would be able to do, and it would be "a waste of their time." After that appointment I left very upset and ended up emailing them to complain because my wedding was coming up and my dress did not fit me, and they completely ignored my message. They also did a very poor job taking in the sides of the dress to fit my hips and waist. They left a loose section on my lower back which looked bizarre - this they also told me would not be possible to fix. Additionally, they neglected to sew the sides of the dress back up on the inside lining, so the fabric didn't stay in place and bunched up underneath the sheer outer layer making the sides lumpy. In the end I fixed the dress myself by hand which took me 3 days and a lot of tears. I am not a professional seamstress at all, but I was able to do it even though they told me it wasn't possible. As a side note, they also "forgot" that I had already paid them a large chunk of the total cost when I picked up the dress, and if I hadn't kept my receipt and shown it to them I'm not sure what would have happened. Overall they did not listen to what I wanted my dress to look like, they did not put any care into the sewing job, and they did not care when the dress did not fit me.

I was absolutely terrified and stressed when Plan A didn't go as expected with my original wedding dress. I ended up flying home from New York with a new wedding dress that needed to be altered with about two weeks left before I had to head to Maryland for my wedding. It was a mad dash of Yelp research and I was so relieved when I talked to Maya. She could probably hear the fear in my voice when I asked if she had any availability and that I needed my wedding dress in two weeks. She was extremely accommodating and worked with my busy schedule. I was beyond grateful. She stayed later than her usual day and saw me during the weekend in order to meet with me and get everything perfect. Everything came together in time. My wedding dress fit perfectly and my husband loved it. Every step of the way Maya was professional, helpful and put me at ease. Definitely what I needed and I am so grateful for everything she did. I had an amazing experience. The photo I shared was from before the ceremony, so the dress is not bustled up, but she did a great job on the bustle and it made it fun to spin around while we were dancing. I would go back to her any time I need something altered. I trust her 100% and her prices are extremely reasonable. If you need anything altered, you can stop your search here and give Maya a call. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Maya and Company. Thanks to Yelp I brought my wedding dress there for alterations. I ordered my wedding dress over 8 months before my wedding date. When it arrived about 10 weeks before my wedding, it needed a lot of work to fit me. It was very easy to schedule an appointment online. I was a little nervous coming by myself for the dress fitting but I was immediately reassured by how kind and welcoming they all were. The whole process was very seamless. I was initially worried because my dress had a lot of detailing but they made it look like there were no alterations done. They are extremely skilled at what they do with very reasonable pricing. Despite a time crunch, they were able to finish my dress and it fit me like a dream on our wedding day. I am so glad I went to them and you can trust them with all your alteration needs! Will definitely be coming back for any future ones :)

I think what they charge for their services is fair for how well and quick they did their job. Maya and Company did an incredible job on my wedding dress, reception dress, and party jumpsuit! They had their work cut out for them! Wedding Dress: They had to add a corseted back so the dress would fit since it was too small and add long sleeves! They did a great job! Reception Dress: Dress was lace and they had to cut off the bell sleeves and cut off the train. Looked amazing! Party Jumpsuit: The jumpsuit was lace, they needed to make it go from a crew neck to a v-neck and fix a snag in the leg. It looked perfect!
I found Maya & Co on Yelp. I was looking for a local tailor who can hem and fix the back of my bridesmaids dress for a late September wedding. At first, I messaged Maya asking if she could do something with the backside of the dress. She replied quickly and with a sketch of what we could do. I immediately made my first appointment sometime mid-August. The appointment process was entirely online and the website is super user friendly. Her shop is in a back house of her home. Parking on the street was so easy. I went in, and Maya greeted me right away. She asked me to put on the dress. There are closed fitting rooms. I came out in my dress and she was able to see my concerns (dress too long and the buttons on the back). She suggested a hem and to reinforce the buttons on the back. I told her all the reviews on the dress said the buttons pop off so she told me they were already strong but if I was still worried, she will reinforce them. She quoted me a reasonable price and I mailed my down deposit since she only accepts cash or check. Fast forward to early September, I made my second appointment/pick up. I received a text a couple days earlier saying my dress was ready. I went in and was greeted by Maya's team. They got my dress and I proceeded to try it on. The dress was PERFECT! The hem was perfectly off the ground and the back felt reinforced. I felt so good. I paid Maya the remaining balance in cash and thanked her for everything. I referred my younger sister to Maya for her bridesmaids dress. I cannot wait to see how hers turns out. I know it will be amazing. Hope to be back again soon, Maya!
For some reason this business has a lot of reviews. They're very fast with yelp messages...so that's a plus. I made an appointment for an estimate for a dress. The "business" is in a back area/guess house of someone's home. Felt very strange. When I went in someone was being helped so I wasn't greeted or acknowledged for a couple minutes. Then I was told to go put the dress on. Some other lady was told to come and talk to me and she pinned the dress. The ladies there were talking in Russian most of the time amongst each other... I found that to be pretty rude. Eventually my estimate was written...$320 of "alterations". I found this very funny because it's a $100 dress lol Once I told them I have other appointments for estimates, I was treated even more weirdly, and was told "good-luck to you". I honestly don't know how they have customers with their updated business, rude remarks, and "cash-only" preference. They have a big appetite for money but I definitely don't see the customer service or honesty in their business to justify their prices.
Maya & Company saved the day for my wedding! With a short turn around time they helped tailor my wedding dress perfectly even going above and beyond to take all the buttons off and then putting them back on. I appreciated their flexibility and cooperation. The only challenge was they only accept cash for payments, so prepare in advance.

I have used Maya and Company a few times for both alterations, and for new pieces that incorporated embroidery. I found them attentive during consultation, answering all my questions and making clear what to expect. Their work is excellent. They are friendly and welcoming. And I will keep going back to them. Updated review! If you want to make the most of your closet- highly recommend alterations here! They've altered my jumpsuits, shirts, and pants so they fit like a glove. My clothes end up looking more high end because of the fit. I've also been trying to reduce my consumption and shop sustainably. If something no longer fits me, they make small tweaks so I can use it for longer. Or if I don't like an old style, they will rework the outfit for me. Lastly, I love how they're very sweet and have your best interests in mind. My husband overheard me talking to them on the phone and said "oh my God, they're sweeter to you than I am!" read more

Maya created customized zippered throw pillow cases for my family room sofa using extra fabric from my recently reupholstered dining chairs. She informed me of what was realistic to create from the remaining material, had them done in just over a week, picked them up from her shop in Altadena-Pasadena and am very happy with the results! read more

I found Maya & Company about a year back to get alterations on a wedding guest dress I had and was so happy with the results, I came back for alterations on my own wedding dress shortly thereafter. It was truly the best experiencing working with Maya and the rest of the staff and they understood my requests so perfectly. They had impeccable timelines and only the highest of quality, and even switch up the options on my bustle a few times until we got it perfect. Professional and friendly seamstress. great job done in making requested alterations to my daughter's dress. It had a cape like chocker piece and she was able to convert it to sleeves that were also detachable. She has a dressing room and enough room to try on garments and mirrors to visualize the alterations. Alterations were made quick and my daughter ended up loving her dress. I spent a lot of time researching seamstresses, in hopes that my Berta gown would be placed in great hands and I'm so glad I found Maya. I originally brought my gown in, just to get the dress hemmed. The fit was 98% perfect, so I figured I'd leave the rest of the dress alone. There was a small portion of the corset that bothered me - it was maybe half an inch too short for my torso, so there was a slight bunch in the dress. I felt as though I would be really splitting hairs to go out of my way to get it fitted. As soon as I met with Maya for a consultation, she mentioned that wrinkle in a really gentle way. She didn't make me feel like there was anything wrong with the dress as is, and certainly did not make me feel like she was trying to upsell me. She simply shared what she could do to make the fit better. Her expertise is unparalleled and her mannerisms make her such a joy to visit! I ended up bringing in 3 dresses to her to get fitted. Would highly recommend Maya and will be coming back for future alterations. Thank you Maya and team! read more

These ladies are amazing and so professional. Hubby and I were so pleased with the alterations for my evening gown and his suit . His alterations needed to be done in a timely fashion and that was accomplished.
