To be transparent, they did make a small mistake on my order--but how they handled it blew me away. So this is my neighborhood cleaner, I go to them for my usual dry cleaning of my shirts and suits etc. I'm a fan! They are fast and courteous and they do a great job. My favorite pair of jeans crotch blew out and I took it to another tailor who patched it but after a while their patch wore out and it was blown again. I was quite sad, but I took it to Halvorsons and they said don't worry we got it. They put on a bigger patch and sewed it on with multiple rows of tacking and saved my jeans! Ashley at the front desk has repeatedly mishandled my clothing and failed to honor the requests I clearly communicated. When I followed up, she changed her explanation and suddenly claimed there were extra charges. For example, she initially said folding the sweater wouldn't incur any fee, but at pickup, she blamed other team members for not reading the note--then changed her story again, saying it's because they charge $2 per folded item. On another occasion, she called me after drop-off saying she couldn't identify or confirm which clothes I had left and asked me to come back. This kind of service is very unprofessional and frustrating. read more

This place is good for basic things like cleaning dress shirts and laundering simple items. I have had a bad experiences where they ironed a very heavy stark pleat into designer trousers that never had it before and ruined the look of the pant. I had a very poor tailoring experience with a simple hem of a pant that looked poorly executed and fell out soon after. Not a good place for high end clothing. read more

I went to Halvarson's out of convenience but eventually decided to go out of my way to another cleaners due to several negative experiences here. I have brought clothes for alterations here that came out too loose or two tight despite trying the clothes on and having them pinned and being happy with where it was pinned. On one occasion i bought in an expensive dress where the sleeves were taken in too much and the dress is basically unwearable. I brought in a maxi skirt to have it shortened and when I picked it up and paid i got home and realized nothing had been done to the skirt. When i returned it the seamstress confirmed she had not altered the skirt, yet it was wrapped and the cashier told me it was done and i paid. On several occasions I would come in through their street entrance and I sat for 15 minutes with no one coming to help, while others coming in from the parking lot entrance were helped even though they came in after me. I will never be returning and would not recommend to my worst enemy. read more

Two stars only because they were able to do same day service. I had three shirts pressed ONLY, not cleaned because they were already clean. It was seven dollars per shirt to press them. I wouldn't even pay that to have my shirts dry cleaned AND pressed. South Pasadena is only 3 miles each direction. Leave SP to have your clothes cleaned/pressed. read more

Convenient to Trader Joe's and good hours. I've dropped off a few delicate silk items, even one dress w stains, and had them returned clean and cared for. I've had alterations (jeans hemmed) and that was a good experience as well. They take the Pacific Promotions card (check Groupon for an even better deal), a punchcard with a number of $5 off and a couple of 50% off your entire order slots. This place "cleaned" a suit and a shirt, and pressed one new shirt. I promptly packed my clothes and left town for a work trip only to wear my clothes and discover they smell HORRIBLE.
