We went there for dinner. The folks we were with wanted to try it. We found the dishes to be expensive. The couple we were with enjoyed the cerviche. They seemed to enjoy the other dishes as well. I had a hamburger with their fries. It was good,cook medium rare, just like I requested. Three stars...... We found it pretentious. The service was fine. A very small menu, and the décor was sparce. Came here Saturday night and had a truly delicious dinner with wonderful service from Kira. The stand out items were the fresh fish entree, bread board appetizer and the addictive Brussels sprouts side dish, but everything we've ever had here has always been executed perfectly (the scallops are amazing). The one thing keeping me from giving this place a solid 5 stars is, like others have mentioned, the booming "lounge" music. There is absolutely no need for it to be played at such a high volume and honestly it is a factor that prevents us from coming more often. Went to South Fork for the first time tonight with a friend who had gone previously. We ordered the lavender lemon drop martinis to start which were amazing. We then ordered the Korean BBQ pork "wings" and grilled octopus. For the entree we both had the burger they are so well known for. The "wing" were scrumptious and the burger was fabulous! The bacon jam was crazy good. The grilled octopus on the other hand was super over cooked and extremely tough and hard to chew. We had to send it back to the kitchen because it was inedible. I do like taking my out of town guests to South Fork BUT I have to say the entrance into the restaurant is absolutely ridiculous.. at the double door entry, one door is always locked, the Hostess desk is literally 1 1/2 - 2 feet away from the ONE door that opens, so if people are coming in to dine and you are leaving , there is no place to go or move. They should remove the two seater high top table behind the hostess move her back 2 feet and unlock the second door for better flow. read more

I absolutely love this place! I ordered the street cauliflower appetizer... so delicious! Flavorful with a little kick topped with peppers but not too spicy. I also ordered the pan-seared scallops! This scallops were nice and delicate and just the right browning on top and the broth was really good i am not a fan of coconut so i was a little needed about ordering it but the combination balanced out well with the other ingredients. Today my daughter and I had the opportunity to try Chef Ron's new restaurant. We have not had the chance to try many of his culinary creations besides his, famous burgers and shakes that so many of us love so much. They do have one of those burgers available to my daughter's delight! We started our meal with the Steamed buns which were absolutly delicious. A slight twist to the traditional Chinese braised pork belly buns with a healthier uptake. The chili glazed chicken with fresh cilantro and thinly sliced cucumbers were to die for and will be the first thing ordered on our next night there, our new fav... Of course for our main dish we ordered the famous burgers that we were craving with the fresh cut french fries. The burgers were displayed beautifully on a cutting board with a small fryer basket with the fresh cut fries.( which my daughter thought was so cute ). The bacon onion jam and chipotle mayo were a perfect combination on the juicy burgers that we hold so dear. Finally and I am not sure how we accomplished it, but we shared a desert that we almost didn't get due to being so filled by the previous courses. We couldn't resist the carrot cake, and thrilled that we didn't. The plate came out and looked like pure art. The carrot cake was laid on a bed of carrot puree shaped in a slice of pie, the delicious ice cream at the head with the candied walnuts finishing of the tip of the dessert. We took pictures of all our food except this only because we got so excited at the sight of it we couldn't help but to dig right in... I felt the pricing was very fair for a fine dining establishment. Just know if your seeking your favorite burger these are not burger place prices. We want to thank our waitress for our great service and also Randy who I think was the manager for being so nice as to take time to talk to us and making our evening very wonderful. First timers... impressed!! Really nice vibe... and those people who wrote about it being noisy.. well stay home! Wonderfully bustling.. felt good to look around and see everyone enjoying themselves. Some unique drinks here.. now there were some hiccups as to pace and service..not sure if it was staff or back if house... but I know I shouldn't have to ask for a water refill, let alone a glass.. food was lovely... we had the grilled octopus which was perfectly cooked, but perhaps got lost in the basting sauce. Artfully plated, the duck confit was a joy.. a good treatment of duck is hard to find! The skin could have used a bit more of a crispness ... but the overall flavor was spot on. First, it was noisier than an NFL playoff game, making conversion with my dear friends an impossible task. The sound reverberates off the stone floors and walls, and even though the restaurant was 65% empty, the noise level was worse than a Waffle House on a Sunday morning after church. The parking lot was jammed with cars so we had a long walk which I thought was a sign that we were in for a spectacular meal. I was shocked when I opened the door and saw that there were almost no people in the restaurant which I realized instantly meant that the food was going to suck. I was right. Whomever is running this kitchen has zero clue of how to produce good food. Everything was horribly either over seasoned, over saucedor overdressed. The combination of mismatched flavors clashed horribly with the food. My Korean pork belly appetizer was served on a bed of greasy chimichurri which is a Brazilian condiment that had NO business being served with a Korean dish with sweet soy sauce. The combination tasted like shit because; whomever is running this kitchen has no palate whatsoever; combined with no cooking talent. Additionally there was absolutely no meat in the pork belly; it was literally two rectangular chunks of pure fat. it was possibly the worst rendition of pork belly I have ever tasted. Between the hideous clash of the condiments and the hundred percent of fat, it was disgusting. The "bacon jam" on my horrendously overcooked hamburger had absolutely no bacon flavor and no discernible bacon pieces I could find when I inspected the jam. It was a paste of onions, sugar and a heavy dose of Worcestershire sauce which I despise with every fiber of my being. The use of Worcestershire sauce is the hallmark of an incompetent chef. I ordered my hamburger medium rare, but it was as well done as I have ever experienced. I'm stunned I didn't break a tooth on that hockey puck, but a hockey puck would have had a lot more flavor. However, as bad as the meal was, the "pumpkin crème brûlée" was totally disgusting. I absolutely love crème brûlée and I love pumpkin so I thought this would be an interesting treat, and since the appetizer and the entrée sucked so hard, I was hoping it might rescue some semblance of dining enjoyment. Alas, this was not to be. In NO universe was the slime under the sugar crust even close to being crème brûlée as the rest of the culinary world expects. It tasted more like store brand vanilla pudding mix with a can of pumpkin purée mixed in it and then topped with the melted sugar. It was unbelievably horrible. I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at crème brûlée again after the absolute epic abortion I was served. No one at the table finished their meals because they were awful, and to add insult to injury they were wickedly overpriced and the portions were tiny so even if it had been good food it still would have been tiny portions for astronomical prices. Small wonder the dining room was 2/3 empty on a Saturday night in the tourist season in South Florida. They missed SO badly on everything they tried to cook. The "chef" has no conception of seasoning and what flavors go together and what do not. You cannot mix every flavor known to man together and expect some kind of decent results. The "chef" here needs to go to culinary school or start working at McDonalds flipping burgers. I doubt culinary school would do any good since whomever concocted this hideous meal has no taste buds whatsoever. It was one of the most memorably terrible meals I've ever had in my life. Service was incredibly slow considering how empty the restaurant was. The bar was full of 70-something men in shorts so I assume the bartender was at least competent, but since I don't drink I could not say for sure. However the bar did look like God's waiting room with the septuagenarians filling every stool. Our server was pleasant but never checked on us so the medium rare burger I ordered that was cremated LONG past well done was impossible to send back. Spend your money somewhere else. I would suggest that you find where the people that filled the parking lot to overflowing were eating, because the food there had to be much better, although in no universe could it have been any worse. For a bill that was almost $250 before tip for 4 people (2 of which had the $15 hamburger) it was criminally overpriced for food that was absolute shit. A horrible waste of time and a LOT of money. The only good thing I can say about this "restaurant" is that, surprisingly, I didn't get food poisoning. Eat somewhere else. Your bank account and taste buds will thank you profusely. read more

I'm from San Francisco and was visiting family and came to this restaurant after searching Yelp. My mom had never heard of South Fork despite living about a mile away. The menu options and varied inspirations were awesome. We stuck with mainly Asian influenced dishes - hoisin braised beef short ribs on carrot purée and a green mango salad in addition to scallops with corn in a coconut broth and herb salad. Dessert included a chai creme brûlée. Beautiful dinner space without being too pretentious, great service and delicious food. On part with places I eat at back I in SF. read more

My husband and I met friends for dinner last night at South Forks new restaurant in Stuart, Fl. We had a 7:00 pm reservation and arrived on time and we're seated promptly. Our guests arrived within 10 minutes and then the fun started..... no one came to our table for another 10 minutes to put water in our glasses, which I had to request. Our waitress finally took our drink orders but after delivering them, disappeared for another 10-15 minutes. Finally giving her our appetizer and dinner choices, we all got into conversation. 10 minutes later appetizers were delivered along with one of our dinner choices. Another 10 minutes pass and one more dinner is delivered. So now 1/2 of our table has their meal and my husband and I can't find our waitress to find out where our dinners are!!! Eventually we see her and ask about our meal! Somehow it never got ordered!! Needless to say, we're pretty fed up with everything! We did finally get our meal, but our friends waited for our food to be served so now their food is cold! I will say the food was delicious but the delivery of everything was way off! When it was time to pay the bill, we all agreed that talking with the manager was in order!! The manager/owner was belligerent and very off putting! He was dressed shabbily (tee shirt and jean shorts) for a nice dinner restaurant! We and our guests explained our experience to him but he didn't care! We then told him we will pay for our drinks and tip our waitress, but we're not paying for our meals, as it took 1 1/2 hours to get the last meals served! An awful experience!!! read more

I read an article about the BAMF burger at South Fork Kitchen & Bar and wanted to try it. I ordered it online and by the time I got there it was ready. Twenty minutes later I was home and opened it up. I tried a few fries and they were just so so, nothing special. I cut the burger in half and it was medium rare which is how I ordered it. I must say that it was very juicy and it was really delicious. It was probably one of the best burgers I've ever tasted. The downside is the price, $18. As much as I like it I don't like to pay that much for a hamburger. But if the price doesn't bother you this burger is well worth the price. read more

My wife and I have been coming to this place since it opened. We love the menu and enjoy the happy hour shrimp and oysters. We have never had a bad meal here. Then why only 3 stars? First the noise level. Once the place is 1/2 full it is so loud I begin to get a headache and I have to leave. They really should put some sound deadening material on the ceilings. We politely asked him to either lower the music it or stop it all together. He listened to us with a eye rolling indulgence, but a few minutes later the decibel level increased. I have been wanting to try this place for some time. I've heard great things and I knew exactly what I was going to order. The burger, BAMF when I tell you it's the best burger in all of Stuart. And the house made fry's. The nice woman next to me suggested I try the Goat Cheesecake Even though I was completely Stuffed, I knew I could fit some dessert somewhere in that belly of mine. The table beside us ordered burgers and they looked amazing, the cheese was running off them, our burger had no cheese present from looking at it and again lack of seasoning, truffle fries were so so, not much truffle, again 1-5, so not sure if we will come back. I had the orange tea Cosmo and my fiancé had the bourbon delight. Amazing flavorful drinks. We ordered a ton of appetizers. I really mean a ton. Each one exceptional and the flavors were distinct and amazing. Fresh oysters. White fish ceviche...OMG. Best I have ever had. The different flavors he created but but still managed to keep them in line with the delicate fish. Bread board with homemade pimento cheese, sweet butter and candied bacon with garlic bread. Yummy Beef and sausage meatballs in a rich tomato Sauce with basil and Italian bread to sop up the sauce. And we sopped like good Italians. Street cauliflower. Like street corn but better and it does not get stuck in your teeth. :) And the pork wings..... pork wings.... sticky sweet but not over done. nicely crispy exterior on the tender meat. we were stuffed and happily took the leftovers home. Can't wait for seconds tomorrow. Sat outside on a great night. The chef took the time to come out and talk to us. Nice touch. He was a nice guy who makes amazingly flavorful food. This was my first visit to South Fork. The food was delicious from the fried calamari to the crunchy tuna appetizer, to the Pad Thai pasta dish! Drinks were very good as well. Stuart has a new real good restaurant. Add to that a full bar and it's a win win all around. They have bar specials. Parking could be a bit of a challenge on the weekends. It's a bit loud. Friday 6pm for 3. Seated promptly, only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Nicely decorated with a hip atmosphere. Service was very nice with bottled water, menus, and beer/wine list brought to the table. Took advantage of the happy hour and ordered 1/2 dozen oysters and 4 jumbo shrimp. They were excellent except for the large piece of plastic found in the cocktail sauce of the oysters. We informed the server and she took the oysters away. We did finish the oysters but without the cocktail sauce. Appetizer and entree orders were taken. The octopus appetizer was delicious and beautifully plated. Pairing it with candied bacon was a fantastic idea. 2 entrees were ordered: pasta with a side of mushrooms and hanger steak with fries. Entrees were delivered 35 minutes after app plate was cleared. Too long I think with only a handful of tables in the restaurant. Pasta and mushrooms were delicious. Hanger steak had some issues. There were so many other things piled on the plate that you could barely tell it was steak. Second, and worse, it was ordered medium, served rare, and was completely cold, as if it had been sitting for a while before served. For the time it took to get our entrees, this is what we assumed. We sent the steak back after eating barely half and told our server no replacement was needed. We never asked for a discount or anything to be taken off our bill, but we did honestly think they'd do something. Bill came, nothing was discounted or removed. No problem as we had no problem paying for what we ate but it would have been a nice gesture of good customer service. Also, with a large piece of plastic in our food, and a completely cold steak, we would have expected the manger to come by and chat with us but no one came. We did go to the bar before leaving and asked to speak to the manager. Sadly, he seemed rather indifferent and just said "sorry, we made some mistakes." I would normally return to give a place like this another chance after the food issues, but since the customer service was severely lacking, we won't be back. There are so many nice places to eat that, for us, good customer service really makes the difference and we didn't get it here at Southern Fork. read more
