Went today for a bite! Been a customer over 20 years! It's changed owners but still good home cooking! The fluffiest omelets on Stuart! The baby potato cakes are excellent with a bit of sour cream! My waitress Tera is terrific and has been there for years! Give it a try, BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER!!!

Alice's Family Restaurant 2781 SE Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL 34996 1 Star I like road trips because they allow BBDO to expand our reviews to places outside of the Space Coast. This was how I found myself in Stuart, FL, looking for some chow. When I saw the name Alice's Family Restaurant, I immediately thought I was in an Arlo Guthrie song. However, I quickly realized I was still in South Florida as I melted, stepping out of the air-conditioned confines of the Big Boy Mobile. Ashley was my server today, and she was gregarious, professional, and spot-on throughout the meal. I ordered a New York Strip and Eggs with a side of Home Fries and a short stack (2) of Banana Pecan Pancakes. Ashley went to put my order in, so I took a peek around the place. It was clean, bright, and empty! Ashley returned with my foodstuffs, and after taking a few pictures, I grabbed my apparat for sustenance extermination and proceeded to the job at hand. I broke an egg first as I always order them over-medium (which this was not). The New York strip was of the lowest grade possible while still being called food. It was cooked properly, a perfect medium-rare. It was tasteless and chewy and landed on the palate with all the fanfare of grilled shoe leather. The only way to describe what they passed off as Home Fries is to speak directly from the gut. They were disgusting. Mushy, greasy, and presented with all the flavor of the steak, this was a colossal strike-out. Thankfully, I had to move on to the next item on my foodie tour of South Florida. I cut off a forkful of the Banana Pecan Griddle Cake and "in my mouth it went." This. This was the only reason this slop house isn't a Swill Alert. Not only was the presentation a work of art, but the Johnny cake was perfectly grilled, the bananas freshly sliced, the pecans warmly toasted, and the whipped cream artfully applied. This was a huge step up from the preceding blech. It wouldn't be fair of me if I didn't mention the scuttlebutt going around among the staff. The place was recently purchased (7 months ago or so) and the new owners are in the process of re-working the menu, décor, the whole kit and ca-boodle. If so, I might have to re-try them when they are done. As it stands, Big Boy says, "Anybody who eats this food will appreciate the brighter possibilities of going on a hunger strike for the cause (good food). Brevard County isn't the only place with crappy Breakfast."

If you're looking for a place that's not fancy, but just has home style comfort food and a dog friendly outdoor seating area, ......... this is it! Food like Mom used to make (well, not my Mom, she was a lousy cook!). One of my big benchmarks is "eggs over medium." I hate runny whites! They cook them perfectly. And butter is real butter. Another thing, they don't give you more food than you can eat, then charge accordingly. Portions are just right and prices are fairly inexpensive. I always leave full and rarely have to bring home a "doggie bag" for the doggie (he actually comes with me). They've been around for 30 years and there's a good reason why! Only thing is check the website for hours of operation. Certain days are breakfast/lunch only.

    Perfect amount of food.

Great food, great service, clean and pleasant atmosphere. Recommend the homemade chips with your sandwich or wrap.

It was OK at Best. Over priced for what you get. Service was adequate. The City Dinner blows this place away and it's less expensive.

I only gave my husband one bite and the mussels were too die for! We came back 8 months later and the mussels are still on point the crab and corn fritters aren't fritters they aren't all bread. They're more like fried crab cake balls and the tartar sauce is superb! My husband this time got the scampi shrimp of course .he is not a pasta person. He absolutely loved it. My vodka parm was also very good. ( I never get anyone's because I make it every Christmas Eve for 40 people and mine to me is hard to beat) my husband is less bias and loves the parm. This place is a gem that needs more attention! Their drinks are spectacular also great wait staff and owner is super interactive!

Mai Tiki is in Stuart, right by the Colorado Avenue Park. It's a medium size outdoor restaurant,…read moreattached to the Old Colorado Inn. It features a large bar and many top tables. There is no AC, it feels like you are in an outdoor tropical garden with a Tiki. The menu is limited, farm to table approach. It offers several appetizers and a few entrees. Tropical cocktails. My sister and I once a month meet for lunch, usually go to the other restaurants in the downtown area. This was a Saturday. The restaurant was pretty empty. We decided to try it, since it was new. It's off season for Florida. I like that it's away from traffic and close to the river, but not on the river. We ordered several appetizers, Tuna stack, it was good with toast on the side. I would have preferred wonton chips or tortilla chips. We also had the crab fritters, these were delicious and plentiful for two people and the Burrata salad. We wanted the Brussels sprouts, but they were out so the chef prepared Bok Choi instead. Equally delicious. We ordered an infused cucumber refreshing cocktail. The service was very good. The owner stopped by our table, to ask how we liked it. He was gracious and told us his story how he bought the placed and design a menu along with the Chef. That was a plus. They also have music for dinner. Parking is street. The Tram goes around and it will leave you at this restaurant from the large parking lot. Please note there's a green market on Sunday's so the parking lot is usually full.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They had our table ready quickly, and we didn't even need a reservation for our party of seven, which was a nice surprise. When is La Grande not so Grande?…read more Been wanting to visit this classic restaurant in historic downtown Stuart since my move to Stuart. Tucked in the old Post Office Arcade building, its partially hidden walkway leading to the restaurant only adds to what lies ahead. As you enter you step into a world that speaks to a time of classic old world elegance. Antiques, elegant draping window coverings and a beautiful fountain at its center, this restaurant brings to mind what a dining experience was like in the nineteenth century. Unfortunately, the service and food sadly do not match the exquisite ambience. SERVICE : The service, or should I say lack of service was evident from our first step in the door. We waited for several minutes before anyone noticed we were standing there waiting. Once noticed, we explained that we had a 7 pm reservation which the hostess of course could not find. She scanned the restaurant (which was empty at the time) and told us she would see if she could find us a table. After several minutes we finally were seated. Another 15 minutes past before someone walked past and asked if we had been taken care of, which of course we had not. He assured us that he would get someone as soon as possible, which added another 10 minutes to our already extended wait. Eventually our "server" showed up. You'll note that I put the word server in quotes because this person was anything but a server. So as not to bore you with specifics, let's just say I have a problem calling someone a "server" who is totally incapable of serving! A person who doesn't understand "medium rare", who misses several ordered sides and charges us for dishes we never received clearly doesn't deserve the term "server". THE FOOD: There were three people in our party. For appetisers, we ordered the Martier Escargot which had a bitter taste because of the burned butter, the Blueberry Brie Crostini, which turned out to be the best dish of the evening was outstanding, and the potato goat cheese puffs were light and delightful. For our entree's, we ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon which was overcooked, dry and tasteless, the New Zealand Lamb Chasseur which was fine except for the missing asparagus (which our server assured us he would get back out and immediately forgot) and finally the 12 oz Prime New York Strip which was cooked well done instead of the medium rare requested. I do need to mention that the garlic risotto was fantastic, creamy and tasty. Unfortunately, we had to enjoy it at home as our server didn't bring it until we were completely done with our meals! As far as desserts go, after our 1 1/2 hour stay, we decided to forego any additional pain and accordingly skipped dessert. Finding our server throughout the night was a challenge of hide and seek and this includes getting our final bill which, as mentioned above, took three trips to get right! The Ambiance: This is an absolutely beautiful restaurant that cries for matching service and a creative efficient kitchen that produces dishes that represent their grand names. THE BOTTOM LINE: As with all my reviews, we come to what I like to call the "customer so what". Would I come back? The answer... as a walk through to see what elegant dining looked like in the 19th century... absolutely! Perhaps you could sit at the bar and enjoy a Manhattan but, to dine? The offerings, as mentioned, were a mixed bag but unless you're into the pain of some of the worst service you'll ever experience, absolutely not!
