Went to south fork for the second time last week with my wife and her friend. Food was good, great happy hour. Definitely try the Clam chowder, at 1/2 price, it's a must try. The music was ok, clubby style music meant for a younger crowd, but didn't bother us. The highlight of the whole evening was really the service at the bar. Shawn was literally the best bartender we've ever had. Extremely hospitable and kind. First time we were here the service was ok, not great. This experience was worlds apart. You could tell he was busy, but never missed a beat, great banter and really cared about what he was doing. He had mentioned it was only his second or third day, but definitely has a good deal of experience. We hope the manager will see this and give this guy a raise! Definitely won us over. We had a nice dinner and the new larger location- my salad was yummy and I recommend mixing the mushrooms in - so good! The kids had butter noodles and cheeseburger- hubby had the burger. The fries were good. We had friendly service and the food was out fast. I appreciate a smaller menu but hope that they add just a few things more to apps in the future. read more

I waited a long time to review this restaurant. Let me start with the owner of this place. This is a man that goes above and beyond for his customers. I called them up around 1-2 PM and found out he opened later in the afternoon (4PM). I told him I was from out of town, and I had heard about his place, and I wanted to try his burger. He told me I could come down and do a takeout because he wasn't open, and I agreed. When I arrived and ordered my hamburger, they were doing some front and back-of-the-house stuff, getting ready for the days business. He took my order about 10 minutes later my order arrived. He offered me to sit at the table and eat it there, but there would be no table service. I didn't care about the table service. I wouldn't eat the waitress or the server, and I was there for the burger. I ordered a burger medium rare, and when I took my first bite, It was like heaven and earth being merged. It was so juicy, the juices were going down my arms, just the way I like my burgers. It was a weird concoction BAMF Burger consisted of bacon-onion jam | chipotle aioli | american cheese | and hand-cut fries on the side. The burger was outstanding, definitely number one in the Stuart market. If you're in the area, give it a try; if you're out of the area and take a drive and give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Walking into the place has a look like you're walking into one of those old western movies with the bars. It was very welcoming and gave a home feeling. I like the vibe in this place, and I also take my hat off to the owner that went above and beyond to take care of a customer. The only reason for coming here was because I saw a social media post about a Galentine event they were hosting. I thought that would be perfect to get all my girlfriends together and go out and have a great night. When I first called up about it, the hostess knew nothing about the event, and had to go ask somebody. It's not a big deal but management really need to learn how to communicate with her staff when they're planning on hosting events. My girlfriends shown up a few minutes before me and they couldn't find my reservation. Couldn't find my name which is odd because I'm pretty sure I didn't change. When I did show up, they found my reservation under my number and I asked what's the name under. It's magically my name that they couldn't find when my girlfriend asked. Again, no big deal. As long as they have my reservation, all is right in the world. The restaurant isn't that large, but it was nicely decorated and seemed for the event. We got there at 8 o'clock and they started with the DJ at nine. I did take a long time for our drinks to come out and our food. The place wasn't packed so I would say it was half full, if even that. Our waitress was phenomenal, awesome and just so full of life. And I ordered the salmon dish which was pretty bland. If you look at the picture, it just looks so boring with no seasons on it. I asked for truffle mashed potatoes instead of cauliflower mash. I didn't taste much of the truffle. Really thinking about it.... I don't think there was any in it. I'm also not quite sure if my fish was even cooked correctly. There's a lot of unsure things. My girlfriend order the steak and had to return it because it was not cooked correctly. That took a really long time to come back to her where she had to go find the waitress and say something. There was a lot of things that happened that would normally make me wanna leave as quickly as possible about this place. But we were just there to have fun and dance the night away. We ordered a bunch of cocktails that were fantastic. Our favorite was the chocolate strawberry martini. I would definitely recommend ordering one of those. I think the best parts of the night was the DJ. This guy was a fantastic DJ with the best mix of music. All of us ladies had such a blast and took so many great photos. Service was good, food was eh ok but bread on appetizer was still frozen on the inside, scallops were great but no lima beans at all in this dish?, husband's broccolini tasted burnt. After sending bread back aka frozen inside we did not mention the other issues with our meals. Oh and we witnessed the girl dishing soup out drop the metal top to the soup pot onto the floor, pick it up, set on counter, then without wiping it off or washing it set it back onto the soup container. Ive been here quite a few times and always enjoyed the food and service. We went last night and were disappointed . Service was slow and i don't understand why as they seemed to have enough servers. My husband had to ask for his drink after waiting I don't know how long. I use to love the spicy rigatoni for the ala vodka sauce and last night it tasted like red jar sauce. My husbands favorite burger was a soggy mess he wound up eating with a fork and leaving the soggy bread. Management should be a little more involved. I don't think Ive ever seen one there. read more

I Visited Southfork kitchen and Bar for my mom's birthday dinner this evening. When we first walked in we were greeted by the lovely hostess who accommodated our request for a booth. While inside is rather loud, they have an outside patio where it is much quieter.We were promptly greeted by our server who was very friendly and explained the happy hour specials on the food and drinks. Our food came out in a timely manner. The food was presented beautifully and the portion sizes were enough for two people. We were then greeted by the owner who was very hospitable and made the effort to ask us how our meal was. We ended with a dessert that was topped with birthday candle. I wish I could say South Fork Kitchen nailed it but I cannot. The chef's salty dishes rivals even the Dead Sea. The kitchen was out of baguettes, so the Bread Board came with a type of soggy Texas toast with whipped butter that needed a nice fresh BAGUETTE! The hand sliced slabs of bacon WOULD have been good if they weren't overpowered by salt. Either they're missing a step in the curing process (rinsing of the meat after the curing process) or they added more before serving. Either way it ruined the bacon. The grilled octopus was, you guessed it, SALTY! So salty we had to send both dishes back. I had the Mahi fish special with risotto which was perfectly cooked and tasty and my had the chicken which was yummy. Dad had the clam chowder which he said was full of clams. The Brussels sprout and kale Caesar presented as if the jar of Parmesan cheese fell over in the salad; way too heavy handed with the cheese. Remember chef, less is more. So much potential. I hope they fix these problems soon. read more

South Fork has quickly become one of my go to restaurants in Stuart! The staff is friendly it's a great place the sit at the bar or enjoy the dining room. They have a great wine and cocktail selection. My personal favorite cocktail is the lavender lemon drop which comes with a smoking lavender garnish. Be sure to get the cauliflower and crispy tuna starters they are delightful. I have a rule when it comes to dining out which is to not eat things I have at home so I tend to avoid things like chicken but I break that rule every time for their chicken. It is so fresh and the crust is crispy while keeping the chicken juicy. If you have room for dessert don't skip out on the goat cheesecake! read more

Customers with allergies beware! I ordered a to go order and asked the server to check with the kitchen to make sure the meal did not contain any sesame or nuts as my son is severely allergic. I also asked for my salmon meal to not have any pinenuts. After picking up the meal and starting to eat it my son noticed there were a bunch of sesame seeds on the bottom of the bun. Also, my salmon meal was full of pinenuts! I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. He took no accountability and insisted that their buns do not have sesame. I suggested he check the buns they had in their kitchen. I also asked him if he would like me to send him photos. He did not apologize to me one time for either of these errors and in fact he hung up on me when I asked if he would credit the meal due to us not being able to eat it. When I called back he told me " I am very busy and don't have time to argue with you about this." I am appalled that any manager running a restaurant would be so callous and unapologetic toward an error that could cause someone their life! I went for dinner last night with 6 other people, it was my first time since they moved location and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place looks great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone loved their food! We ordered the bread board to start with and it had a tasty spread and crispy bacon strips and fresh baked bread. 4 people ordered the Brussels Sprout & Kale Caesar salad and they were very happy with it, some added protein to their salads, I had the Parmesan chicken and also the tomato salad and it was delicious! My daughter had the crispy Tuna sushi appetizer as her dinner and really liked it. My granddaughter had fried chicken and fries which she enjoyed. The waiter was excellent! Attentive, polite and friendly! We will keep coming back for more of the same good food. read more

What is wrong with this restaurant? First, we waited for 20 minutes-- and that was with a reservation. We ordered a salad that explicitly did not mention bacon or egg. as I am pescatarian. My husband actually asked if it had egg and was told yes, but they could put it on the side. We didn't feel we needed to go over every potential ingredient as it should be listed. When the salad came with bacon naturally I complained. I received an apology and was told they would make me a fresh one sans bacon. Well it came with bacon again! However, the latter would not prevent me from returning as the delicious food would lure me back. My hubby and I shared the cauliflower appetizer, the Brussels sprouts and kale Caesar salad, and the Parmesan crusted chicken breast. Came for Hubby's birthday, booked reservation on Yelp, advised that it was a celebration (because I was asked "celebrating anything?") We had no problem with the reservation, and were seated immediately, but not what I would call a "celebration" table- smack in between two other tables. Drinks were perfect. New England Clam Chowder out-of-this-world-good, and that coming from a girl who spent all her summers on Nantucket, so I know my chowder! We ordered two entrees, unfortunately they ran out of one after we ordered, but the appetizer portions were generous enough, and the other entree sufficient to send us home fed. The food quality, freshness and flavor were delicious and most enjoyable. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell, fresh and clean of grit and sand. Followed with a beet salad on greens and followed by a surf-n-turf made of a nice steak and two prawns. The steak was cooked perfectly, seared exterior and nice red/cool center of medium-rare. The "prawns" were disappointing, I caught larger shrimp from the dock. This dish would pop with seriously two large prawns. The entree was served with a truffle risotto, it was amazing! Well cooked, had a firm bite but was silky smooth. I could eat a bowl of that risotto frequently. Great location and vibe for dates, well behaved families and friends. We enjoy visiting. Even though the core food was solid and what I would expect for this price point and interpretation of what the owner and chef want to deliver, and we have devoured almost every dish on the menu, the menu just has not changed. We have been going for years, yet menu remains the same. Service is a toss up. Have not seen a floor manager in last few trips. Service is acceptable, but crisper service would propel the restaurant to another level. Service failed upon being seated. After getting seated at our table, we were asked to move to make room for another dining party. I had a reservation, they knew that I was coming. I had to control myself because of the New Years Eve date environment, everyone in the place was in a good mood. They moved us to a high top. High tops should never have never been invented in my opinion. I smiled since I was on a date (though irritated to no end). Why does a finer dining restaurant even have high tops? Thus, was disturbed before I even ordered a drink. As for service from there out, the restaurant needs a floor manager. The waiters were controlled chaos, rather than a confident, professional, focused team that is expected to accompany the dinner. Tried for first time. Girls were a little off due to an event night before. Bartender paying more attention setting up then taking care of us at bar. My husband asked about oysters and she told him a1.50 each for happy hour. Got bill then she said sorry they were 1.75 each. No big deal. I had cauliflower and it was delicious. My husband had oysters and they were good. He also ordered New England chowder and it was delicious. We ordered a martini and a Manhattan. Drinks were a little short. Would have had two but decided to go up the street to pastaios where they make a great drink. Got bill and Manhattan was 18.00. Way overpriced. Up the street 10 times better was 13.00.
