I got the vietnamese sandwich since I haven't had banh mi for a while. Very flavorful! The sandwich was stuffed with so much! Mostly cucumbers and carrots but the roasted pork was given in generous portions. I wish all the food was placed out evenly so each bite would include every ingredient but nonetheless it was still a terrific sandwich. Compared to the banh mi I've had in New York, this wasn't spicy at all. It still tasted somewhat authentic though. Oh and heads up, they charge an extra 25cent if you pay with card. read more

I agree with SH, I love their soups and salads! I've had one good sandwich and one ok one, which is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. I recently got to go to The Capital Grille for the first time and after tasting my french onion soup, I whispered to my mom, " The french onion at Soup's On is better!" I love the "hole-in-the-wall" feel of this place... I mean that in a good way! When I first started going there it was a bit "cold," but the tables have since been painted and there are more and more people so it feels warmer now. The one thing I'd love to see here is some type of soup sampler. I don't get to go as often as I'd like, and when I do I always have trouble deciding because they all sound so good! I wish I could do some kind of 3-soup combo! (Unfortunately I have to budget, otherwise I would just buy three small containers!) Definitely try the french onion, and I can't remember which one, but awhile ago I had one with black beans that was delicious! Boyfriend loved the MD Crab! Definitely check this place out! read more

Ok, a caveat: I've never eaten at the Baltimore restaurant. However, when the brothers served soup from the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, it was my favorite spot for lunch. The soups are delicious and are obviously made with a lot of care, particularly the French onion. I recall the chicken salad being very tasty as well, with big chunks of chicken with tangy grapes. AH-maze-ing!!! I used to come here all the time when I went to UB. At first the tiny space looked unappealing but the magic that goes inside that kitchen is beyond me. EVERYTHING is delicious here!! Meh. Soup was kinda bland and came scalding hot -- in a paper container instead of a bowl. They do a surcharge for credit card transactions, which I'm pretty sure is against merchant's terms of service. Maybe I'll try again another time. Cool store downstairs though. read more

Popped in during Artscape weekend to grab a sandwiches and soups. The A/C was welcoming as was the cook! Great quality and portion sized. The portobello sandwich and roasted pork sandwiches were both packed with flavor. Great variety of soups (vegan, vegetarian, hot, cold) and I know you can add seasoning after but I just wish there was a little more salt incorporated in the soup we had. I have not been to this place but I called to report fraud on my credit card and the gentleman who answered the phone was extremely rude. Regardless of the quality of their product if the phone service is deplorable I will never shop at this establishment. 1. Learn how to answer the phone rather than just picking up and saying hold. 2. while on hold I should not have to listen to you laugh it up about nothing important such as when the individual will receive an email. 3. When someone calls to state they have experienced theft from your place of business how about not rushing the individual off the phone and take their concerns seriously. God forbid you ever have to experience theft, hopefully you will be treated with more consideration. read more

This is a solid soup and sandwich place. There's really nothing to complain about. Baltimore has long winters and this is a great place to go eat something hot and wholesome. Their French onion soup is absolutely fantastic and you can get a cup of soup and a sandwich for $10. The portions are very generous for the price, too. Also it's in an old converted rowhome so if you like eating in interesting environments, it's got that going for it too. read more

Today I walked 5 blocks in the pouring rain to get a soup. I had no idea how good this soup would be beyond reading reviews online and peaking at the daily menu. I asked a quick question about if any soups contained gluten, which was answered helpfully and I made my choice: Spicy Lentil Soup & Chicken Salad on a bed of lettuce. All I need to say was, this was worth getting soaked to my core. The soup had the right amount of heat and the best texture. The chicken salad was plentiful and juicy. And the side of sea-salt for my soup let me season it to my own liking. I will be making this walk more often, rain or shine. I love Soup's On, and while they're on their summer schedule, my heart is breaking. If I could order the Tomato with mascarpone by the vat-full I would. I miss you, Soup's On, and long for fall when I can once again have your amazing soups for dinner. I don't usually stray from the tomato soup, but all the others I've tried have been good too. As far as the sandwiches, I can never decide between the tomato with mozzarella & basil or the Portobello Mushroom, so we usually order both and my husband and I share. Win-win. Service here is good. I usually call ahead for pickup and it's always ready within a few minutes of arriving, packed up nicely with sea salt on the side and plenty of bread. Several of my colleagues placed an order with Soups On today. We were all very pleased with the variety and taste of each of the soups. I ordered the Curried Chicken Coconut Milk soup & Mushroom & pasta. This was absolutely the best soup I've had in my entire life!! It was flavored just right, was super hearty, fresh and surprisingly, was still hot when after traveling in 15 degree weather. It came with garlic toast which was great for dipping. I will definitely return and highly recommend this spot. They are doing everything right! read more

My husband and I were dying to try this place out because of the reviews. All we can say is what were you all thinking??? Did we go to the right place? The soup was incredibly watery. The broccoli and cheese soup was literally broccoli, water and congealed cheese. My husband dumped about half of the salt container into the curried cauliflower soup to give it any flavor. The decor is very outdated and I'm convinced this place is not up to the health code. Unfortunately, this place is not even cheap enough to warrant the bad food. read more

It was a cold wet night and I was in the mood for soup. My fiancée and I did a search and found Soup's On. It was downtown, but we thought, what the hell! The menu was simple and had a nice variety of soups - vegetarian, meat, etc. They vary from day to day but you can check their website what they are serving. We met the owner who is friendly and helpful. We recommend doing the sandwich soup combo. They also offer salads that look fresh and flavorful. To make a long story short, we love it. The home made soups have great flavor without a lot of salt. He does offer salt and other seasoning so that you can add to your taste. We got to chatting with the owner and it came out his twin brother has a Soup's On restaurant in Jacksonville, FL. I thought it was providential, as I was going to be going down there in a few weeks.
