Amazing. I always drive by it on the way to work and decided to give them a try today. I got the curry chicken soup and the tuna sandwich special. The soup is great, I've never tried something that tasted like this but I love it. The tuna sandwich is amazing as well. It's a great hole in the wall and I would definitely recommend everyone trying it. Everything is healthy and delicious. ALSO if you revisit within a certain amount of time you can eat 20%, 15%, or 10% off your next bill. Quick tip: if you want your food right away order ahead, they make it all on the spot when you order. This is my third day in a row coming for lunch, the soup is amazing I've gotten the same one three days in a row. It's been a few years since my last visit and I feel the time has been well spent at the Soup Dive. My sister recommended the Salmon Chowder and I can say, it was delicious. I love Clam Chowder and remember some really good Chowder while vacationing in Cape Cod. This Chowder brings back some old memories of some very good Chowders in New England. WoW! Seriously delicious. I have been wanting to try Soup Dive for a while, I finally got an opportunity to stop in today. Every soup I tried was incredible. They are all flavorful and made with fresh REAL ingredients. I decided on the mushroom soup which had big pieces of portobello mushrooms in it. My favorite part is that it is a broth based soup and not cream- very hard to find when it comes to mushroom soup. The cornbread that comes with the soup is out of this world and believe me when I say I'm a cornbread snob so I know :) The best part was really the employees. The food is delicious! I've had crab cakes, salmon croquettes, turkey chops, veggie burger (best I've ever had) and salmon. The service is great and they are always pleasant. I ordered on my lunch break but they were running behind and my food was not ready. I had to get back to work. Pam asked me for my address and phone number and she brought my lunch to me. Downside of this is that it is priced to match, so smaller portions are pricier than other similar places. For me, the taste more than makes up for it. I experienced very kind service as well. Walked in and was able to get a sample or 2, decided to take some back to the hotel, I got the Impossible Chili and the Lentil soup. My department has a tradition of taking new coworkers out to lunch as an icebreaker. We decided on Soup Dive as a healthy, newer alternative for lunch and a few of us headed out from the office between a crush of projects. For those looking for it, Soup Dive is on the backside of the complex with Chase Bank, between Northwestern Highway and 12 Mile. Turn into the Chase Bank drive, follow it almost all the way to the end, and you will find Soup Dive attached to a shopping plaza with oddities like a Chinese herbalist. The restaurant is a new addition to the hodgepodge of fast food, American restaurants, and standouts Italian places on the Northwestern Highway corridor. It falls to the lower end of the spectrum in terms of affordability, though still comes out more expensive than a typical meal at Wendy's, the excellent Grape Leaves or Zoups! What do you get? Bowls of soup made from scratch on site, which always include at least one vegetarian option and frequently a gumbo. They had a variety while we visited including a curry carrot, tomato bisque, chowder, and spicy gumbo. Other sides are sparing: sandwiches are served up panini style and, if I remember, standard style. Drinks include water, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. They also carried a smattering of fruit. Soup Dive's soups were well enjoyed by my coworkers, and my curry carrot was all right. The small is fairly satisfying if you had a late breakfast or aren't too hungry, though it would not be sufficient for a complete meal. The bowl sizes start from small to large, ranging from $6.99 to $11.99 depending on the soup. You could easily take home a larger size. However, the prices are not cheap. This would be a special occasion restaurant rather than a standby, especially since $8 nets you a salad, unlimited bread, and an entree at Grape Leaves. Not a bad choice for soups, a good range of flavours/options, and I like they're made from scratch. read more

I'm only giving one star because my ham sandwich was good. However, service at this deli was quite possibly the worst I've ever experienced. Three of us entered on a weekday for lunch. There was no line and the place wasn't busy. They do not have actual menus to look at, but rather, digital screens behind the counter. The soups are listed without descriptions. However, the menu on the website does describe the soups. The deli sandwiches are listed with a price of $6.99. Again, another discrepancy between the website and actual location menu is that online it shows prices for a whole or half sandwich. In the store it doesn't even specify. Gives one option, that being the whole without actually saying whole sandwich. They offer a deal, which is presumably a half deli sandwich and cup of soup for $7.99. But again, it wasn't listed anywhere, rather, the cashier just asked if we wanted to add soup. So the first in our party orders a corned beef sandwich. Cashier asked if she wanted a whole or half. Patron asked what was listed, was told it was a whole and said I'll take that. Second in our party orders clam chowder. Was told they were out but that someone hadn't changed the screen. So she settled on corn tortilla soup and a half sandwich. I ordered last. Ham sandwich. Was asked if I wanted to add soup. Ok, I'll have the lemon chicken. Was informed they were out of that as well. Ok then I'll have the corn tortilla. Suddenly clam chowder was available again, so patron 2, altered her order. Patron 2 paid the check. Sandwiches were served. Patron 1 received a half corned beef sandwich when she not only ordered, but was also charged for a whole. Patron 2 received her half sandwich and a cup of what appeared to be tomato soup. I received a half ham sandwich, no soup. Patron 1 was shocked that what everyone else on the planet considers a half deli sandwich was actually a whole?!? But was the same size as 2 & 3's halves. When questioned about the soup, 3 was brought out a clam chowder. Which led us to believe that the only soup brought out was my corn tortilla. So here's the thing, the soup description, which can only be found online states "..Corn Tortilla A flavorful, sweet corn (we cut off the cob), tomatoes, onions and jalapeño peppers in a chicken broth. Garnished with tortilla strips." But what we were served was a puréed soup with no garnish. If you're going to serve a puréed or "blended" soup, please put that in the description. Furthermore, include the garnishes!! I took half of a spoonful and pushed it away as it was not only not as described but horrible. I was so disgusted, I didn't take a picture of the soup. After confronting the staff on the mix ups, we were told the corn tortilla soup IS a purée but were given no reason for the absence of the garnish. And we did receive the other, paid for, half of the corned beef sandwich. But that was after we were given a turkey sandwich to go and then had it taken away when the cashier realized it was the wrong order. The mistakes just never stopped!!! Incidentally, I've tried to use the "contact us" feature on their website but it doesn't work. So here I sit, writing my scathing review on yelp instead. I assume they make their money on catering, or by overcharging customers but only giving them half of the food. I've never seen a more disorganized establishment. And I eat out all over the world, a lot!! We left there completely dissatisfied. I can assure you I will NOT return. read more

I should have read the reviews on this place a bit closer, especially the ones that mention the price. The food was just okay, but the prices were through the roof! All my buddy had was a bowl of their Beef Stew with a Coke and it was almost $13.00 just for that! The Stew didn't look all that great either. It looked really watery and there were only two small pieces of meat in it from what he said. As for me I got half a Sandwich and a Smoothie. The Sandwich was decent, but it was a bit dry. They toasted the bread and put very little of their "Dive Sauce" on it which was the reason for this. The staff seemed nice, but also very scatterbrained and slow. It should take all of two minutes tops to fill a bowl with soup that was already pre-made, but we sat there for roughly 10 minutes waiting on his order. I understand the Sandwich can take a little bit, but we ordered and paid separate so I would have expected he would have gotten his much much faster. "Meh. I've experienced better." sums things up pretty accurately. read more

I ordered a corned beef sandwhich which was ok nothing to shout over. I think they could be better if they were more organized... The cashier was kinda scatter brain. I've driven down 12 Mile a million times but only recently noticed the Soup Dive. It was the food truck that got my attention. I went home and Googled them, it sounded good so on my way home from work last week, I stopped by. I was greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member who gladly let me sample a couple of different soups and answered my questions. I left with a small cup of Kale and (I think) black eyed bean, spicy soup. I was pleased to find they offered brown rice so I had the soup served on top of that. You want to talk about REGRETS??!! The minute I tasted that soup, and let my husband try some, I wished I had brought home the biggest container they had! It was *delicious*. It hit all the right notes of fresh ingredients, comfort food, healthy. I was so sad when I got to the bottom of that cup, let me tell you. The soups are very tasty, but the reason I won't be back is because they are priced too high for what you get and they are WAY too slow. After 3 years of working in the Farmington Hills / Southfield area, I was more than ready to try a new place for lunch. I'd driven by a couple of times, and decided to give it a try. I walked in and it looked nice and clean, with interesting soups - Jamaican chicken, gumbo, clam chowder, cream of asparagus and cream of sweet potato. I tasted the sweet potato soup, which had a creamy smooth texture and delicious taste. If they had added a dash (or two) of some cayenne, it would have been perfect. I ordered the clam chowder, and was given a choice of crackers or cornbread as my side. Cornbread!! Yum. Crackers might have been better, but I can't turn down cornbread, which was pretty tasty. The chowder was good - not too think or too thin, with nice chucks of potatoes and little bits of clams. I'll look forward to going back again and trying some of their other soups and sandwiches. read more

I came here as part of a Groupon deal for two combo meals that included pick two out of three from a cup of soup, a garden salad, or half a sandwich. Overall, I was satisfied with my meal. I got a good deal out of it through Groupon. However, if I paid full price for it, I do not think I can be as enthusiastic. I got the grilled cheese and chicken noodle while my friend got grilled cheese and French Onion. Both were decently good. Not the best I ever had but a good option for lunch. The atmosphere was clean and friendly. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and the staff was very helpful. There was a bit of a wait for the food but I did not mind because I was catching up with a friend. In fact, I sat there for almost two hours and it was not a problem. At one point, one of the staff came by and cleared our trays and gave us some water. If I am around this area, I would stop here again, but seeing as how I live 20 minutes away, I will not make the trip for the heck of it. read more

I was in the area for a training and found Soup Dive on Yelp. The Dive Gumbo was excellent. I had it with the cornbread and a side of the sautéed spinach, which made a great lunch. My only complaint is that the peach cobbler and German chocolate cake sitting next to the register challenged my will power to the max, but I held my ground. I will definitely return to explore the rest of the menu and doubt my will power will hold up two visits in a row. read more

So, wow. Just wow. Since discovering this place I have been coming here for lunch at least once a week. Soup Dive! blends delicious with healthy into a stew of awesomeness. I suppose I should start with the staff. I have been greeted by at least two employees every time I have walked in. They are personable, friendly, and casual. You can tell they put a premium on relationship building and that is a nice touch. The atmosphere of Soup Dive! is a modern casual feel. Jazz on the radio, lots of sharp lines and glass fill the place. They know who their market is(office drones like me) and play to them well. Now that I'm done boring you with descriptions of the place itself let's get to the important part, the food. Everything at Soup Dive! is made fresh when you order(soups are made that morning). They use as much Michigan made/grown products as possible as well. I've had some of their soups, sandwiches, and flatbreads and all were incredible. The chicken flatbread is a stand out. Their balsamic they drizzle on top made me weak in the knees. They make their own salad dressings as well. Peach mimosa vinaigrette? Yes please! Soup Dive! is a lil pricey for a lunch but the old adage is true here. you get what you pay for. I really hope this place makes it and opens in other locations so others can enjoy the amazing food they make here. I do find it ironic/quaint that you have to drive through a McDonalds parting lot to eat here. read more

I want to like this small family owned restaurant, but the experience I had with the staff left a bad impression on me. I called in an order and specifically requested a grilled cheese sandwich on gluten free bread. This is for my son who has a wheat allergy. When I get to the restaurant to pick up my order the receipt has an item labeled "grilled cheese sandwich" without any indication that it is gluten free. I explicitly ask one of the women behind the counter if the sandwich is on gluten free bread and she tells me that yes it is. When I receive my food and open the box I see that the sandwich had been made on tomato bread, which is not gluten free. I ask about this and come to learn that they don't even have gluten free bread, just wraps. So they end up swapping the sandwich for an improvised cheese quesadilla wrap. Not at all the same thing and certainly not with $6.99. There is no attempt to offer me a discount of any sort. In terms of the food itself, my wife ordered a medium gumbo soup which turned out to be a tiny 12 oz serving. My chicken sandwich was nicely marinated, but overcooked and chewy. The garden salad and smoothie we ordered were good. Overall this was not a great experience. I won't be returning to this restaurant for dinner again any time soon. read more

Nicely done with a variety of soups to boot! I received a very friendly greeting upon entering, but decided on the Jerk Gumbo and regular Gumbo soup since I was trying to shake a cold. Listen. I really like the food here, but only go here if you have a lot of time to waste. The staff here has no sense of urgency AT ALL. The poor guy in the front is always seemingly overwhelmed by the lack of assistance he has. Management should train the staff on how to properly operate during a "lunch rush". I wish I could spend time talking about my favorite items here, but my experience just now has forced me to make my second yelp posting ever.
