This was my first time trying them. Ordered from grub hub so review is on food only. I ordered half pound shrimp head off, half pound crab with half pound sausage. For me that's a ton of food so great job there. The sauce was supposed to be a mix of all. Maybe the sauce needed stirring but i just got an unflavored colored liquid. I had to season this bag myself with lemon, garlic, salt and pepper. I also expected the sausage to be in the bag but for some reason they were bagged separately , strange. Maybe i just caught them on an off night. Seafood quality was good, flavor just missing.

This is my go to spot for crab boils. I literally eat here once a week. The food is hot and fresh and is ready so quickly. Sad that they are closed on Mondays. There is another location on Telegraph which is good for dine in but in my opinion this locale is better for take out. My go to is the build my own bag. First you pick your seafood, next sauce and spice level. Each bag comes with potatoes, corn and a hard boiled egg with options to add on. I always go with snow crab and shrimp. Sometimes I add sausage if I'm feeling extra hungry. The all mixed sauce is sooo yummy. If you're as much of a fiend for crab boils as I am then try this place. You won't be disappointed!

We got takeout from here when it was still takeout only (due to COVID). It was on the pricy side, but they provided generous portions: it seemed like we got more than we ordered (extra potato and more crawfish than anticipated). We ordered crawfish and shrimp with sides. The crawfish was big and the tail meat tasted pretty good. I enjoyed the shell on shrimp - it was cooked well and tasted good with the sauce. The sausage, corn, and potatoes were great sides - the former two provided a nice salty sweet contrast, while the latter was a great starch to soak up sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce was really greasy. It definitely was not really butter, and caused stomach issues for me that night even though I really didn't consume that much sauce overall. We also tried some fried seafood, which had a tasty crack seasoning on the outside. The breading could be lighter though - it was pretty heavy. Although I thought the food was tasty here, for me it was a one and done experience.

If you live around Southfield then this is a good location to get seafood since there are not many good places to eat around here. Combo can fill up two people, but i think the size/weight and flavor varies from time to time. Seems like I get more food sometimes. Cajun and lemon pepper are my favorite seasonings. The concern I had is that for to go order. They put hot seafood in a thick plastic bag. Plastic usually leaches chemical once it gets too warm so I would not get takeout often

Their main entrance is on the right door, not the left. I ordered the C11: 2lb (4 clusters) snow crab, Cajun spice and medium spicy level. Yes, my eyes might be bigger than my stomach. Found out later when the bill came that it was a charge of $25.95, per pound of crab. I think the waitress should've mentioned that at the time of ordering, it would've been OK, but I wasn't quite expecting that amount at the end of the bill without some forewarning was all. Looking forward to this messy encounter, with my super thin plastic gloves on. This is not a place to come if you are afraid to get your digits a little dirty, since the gloves never last long with the crab legs at all. They do need to take some time to clean their bathroom toilets, some messy and nasty stuff left behind in there, made me almost throw up even before trying their food first. Almost looks like a small surgical tray for my starter glove, fork, glove, claw cracker, bib and napkin. The puffy bag came out and once opened a nice billow of steam escaped. It was nice and hot, would be cooling down quick as I worked through the crab clusters. There's a half corn on the cob at the bottom, along with a hard boiled egg getting a nice reddish tint from the Cajun spices and a whole small red skin potato too. My method is to eat all of the legs and save the claws with the legs for last. Saving the best for last. I was too stuffed to eat the red skin potato or the hard boiled egg. I did my best and ate my way through 2 lbs of crab legs. Reminds me of the days I would eat in excess of 2lbs at red lobster during high school. It was a dirty job and I managed to cut my thumb glove right before my last 3 legs. They at least use a little bit thicker gloves then some crab and Seafood boil spots that I've been to in the past. The Cajun seasoning here was quite delicious. I don't usually care for the seasoning in a boil, but this one was good. It added good flavoring to everything, including the corn and the eggs. I sadly didn't have enough stomach space to eat the Redskin potato, But I'm sure it would've been good in the Cajun spices as well. Make sure you get a good fork with straight tines on it. I had a crooked fork with a couple bad tines on mine, makes it much more difficult to extract out the crab from the shells. I managed to power my way through 2 pounds of crab meat. It was delicious and a great challenge, but well worth the stomach ache afterwards. Oh woes me. ;) The woman that waited on me was nice enough. She was a smoker, so she must've taken a break at some point to bring me my check. I could smell the stench of smoke from her when she walked my bill to my table. She told me to wait a minute, gave me the index finger, she was too busy talking to a colleague, before she came to my table. I wanted to get new gloves and was waiting for her, but she brought me the bill instead. She brought new gloves and I continued with my last three legs. I think my only comment is that the tables here are maybe a little too high. I kept my arms up above the surface of the table, so they wouldn't rub up against the dirty cajuned paper mat and all the Cajun seasoning and juices from the boil. I felt like a kid that was being punished and having to keep the arms up for doing something bad in school. I however didn't want to brush my arms up against the table, thus ended up elevating my arms up a little. I don't think I would've had to lift them as high as I did, if the tables were a little lower. Just my two cents. I can see why this is such a popular place. They have great seafood boil seasoning and the prices are fair here too. Another note they do except American Express. It's not on their door, but they do except Amex. Food and experience was good. I would definitely come back here for a pound of crab next time in the same seasoning with the same level space. The medium Cajun spice, was about a mild plus at a Thai restaurant.

This was my first crab boil bag. I can say that it was everything I imagined! So flavorful and steaming hot!! Customer service was fast, friendly and professional! I had crab, shrimp, eggs, potatoes and corn in my bag. I will definitely be back to have this again! The portions were hearty, I wasn't able to finish mine. 10/10

Overall this was amazing. My first seafood boil and it has set high expectations! I got the mixed seasonings and I recommend doing that because it was 3x flavorful. Crab and shrimp was absolutely delicious and it was very juicy, lots of leftover juice so no dryness here! The service was the only thing that was subpar, took a while to ask for lemons but It's okay. The design of the restaurant is interesting and the mirror makes it seem bigger. Overall, 5/5!

So worth the try. You get to pick you season level and the crayfish are huge. Not really a fan of the fried perch. The garlic chuck buttery sauce is plentiful, corn and potatoes come with it. I do think the water used to boil seafood should be seasoned. The taste clearly indicates boiled in plain water. The only seasoning is in butter sauce and additional options of flavoring during packaging.

Excellent. Just what I wanted and expected -- shrimp, crab, egg, and corn. Tasty sauce and good amount of seafood. Also the hush puppies were a welcome surprise. Definitely get the rice to sop up the sauce. We placed our order and were able to pick up 30 min later. Will be frequenting for sure.

Recently I tried doing a king crab boil in my my own kitchen. It was successful by my estimation, but I wanted to go out and try a more authentic preparation. We dont really have many places in metro Detroit well known for doing a Cajun style seafood boil, until now!!! First thing you will notice is the restaurant is very spacious. The decorations are unique to say the least, but it's not without it's charm. The menu can be a little intimidating to navigate, but if you know what you want beforehand it can be a little easier. My wife and I shared 1 order of the blue crab, which came with boiled corn and potatoes, and smothered with butter and Old Bay as well as other spices. It was more than enough to feed both of us, but we did order popcorn shrimp as an appetizer (which was delicious, but probably not homemade). Let me tell you, they do not mess around here. You get a trash bag, gloves, bib, and even a table covered with paper. They really go the whole nine yards here. Wait staff was good as well, but it did take a little while to be attended to after we were seated despite not being busy at all. As far as the food is concerned it was all delicious. I will say though, the blue crabs were difficult to eat, which is not any fault of the restaurant. I have had other kinds of crab, but these ones don't have alot of meat in them, and they don't break off the shell cleanly. It was a bit of a struggle, but we think the meal was a success. Next time I come back (and I will for sure) I'm gonna try the snow crab or crawfish.

The waitress was abrasive from the start and immediately informed us that there was a time limit on our table. Looking back, that's actually pretty comical, considering the restaurant ended up taking far longer than their own stated limit to serve us. We were there celebrating our friend's baby sprinkle and hoped for a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon. Instead, the service was painfully slow. Drinks took an exceptionally long time to arrive, and the wait for our meals was even longer. The delays were so significant that one member of our group eventually had to leave before fully enjoying the gathering. Had the service been friendlier and more attentive, the long waits may have been easier to overlook. But between the abrasive welcome, the slow pace, and the overall lackluster experience, our celebration felt more frustrating than enjoyable. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially because I was genuinely excited to try The Franklin. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to expectations, and it's not somewhere I'll be rushing back to.

It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! The added lobster tail was succulent and buttery, creating an indulgent surf-and-turf combination that highlighted the freshness and quality of their ingredients. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.
