Recently, my husband & I finally tried Voyager after having it on our list for many years. When I saw that they were having their annual Mid-Winter Lobster Boil, it sounded like fun and the perfect opportunity to check them out. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bartender. My husband had a new-to-him beer, which he enjoyed, and I tried the House Martini, which had saffron-infused gin, Strega and dill oil with a pickled onion. It was unique and enjoyable. Before our lobster boil arrived (we had a heads up that it would take 20 minutes), we ordered a bowl of chowder and hush puppies to split. These were my favorite part of the meal! Both were EXCELLENT! The chowder had light, crunchy, homemade croutons in the soup, and it was the perfect addition and the hush puppies were some of the best I've ever tasted. I will share one disappointment. The RESY page where they took the reservations/orders said: "We'll offer a small a la carte menu of coastal favorites & seasonal specials too (e.g. fried clams, shucked oysters, crispy fish sandwiches, etc.)." My husband was excited for the fried clams and talked about getting them several times leading up to our dinner, only to find out there were no fried clams offered. As a matter of fact, our request was met with a reaction that led me to believe that was never even a part of the plan. So why post that in the description? We enjoyed the lobster boil, but felt it was overpriced for what we got. We felt the other items we ordered off the menu were well worth the prices. Our overall impression is that this small, casual restaurant has quality seafood, side dishes and drinks. We will definitely return to try some other items off their regular menu (and get the chowder and hush puppies again!)

Amazing everything. Food was fresh and delicious and service was impeccable! Cute little spot that had cutest patio too!

Can't believe our last review was 7 years ago, as we have returned to Voyager so many times since! Atmosphere is casual and fun, albeit small and cozy. Service is always friendly and welcoming, menu innovative and ever-changing. Seafood offerings are varied, creative, and SO FRESH! We love Voyager and it is always worth the near three hour drive, especially when we make it a weekend! Lots of fun areas surround Ferndale. Can't leave this review without mentioning their annual mid-winter lobster boil...a NOT TO BE MISSED event! A whole perfectly prepared lobster, accompanied by sausage, fresh mussels, fresh clams, corn, new potatoes, herby seasoned broth, and of course, drawn butter! Watch for it and get your reservation in! You won't be disappointed! Sorry, we were so busy enjoying the evening, we forgot to take pics, but here's one pic from last year's mud-winter boil!

We had the best experience at Voyager - what a gem of a seafood restaurant! The prices are right for high-quality seafood, the vibe is cool, and the service was excellent. We came on a packed Friday night and had the best date night. Hubby is hard to please when it comes to spendier restaurants, but he was very happy and we look forward to coming back during the week to take advantage of their specials and $2 buck shucks. Drinks: the house martini for me and an old fashioned for him; I really loved my martini served with an excellent little pickled onion. We then had the Belafonte seafood tower and added 6 more oysters - everything on this tower is so good and perfectly cooked. Sweet, succulent snow crab, well-seasoned peel and eat shrimp, toasty crackers and mussels escabeche - the best mussels I've ever had. Sweet and pickly, fresh and delicious. Everything had just the right texture. The oysters were also fantastic - so good that we ordered another dozen for "dessert." The mignonette is all they need! Hubby had the fancy fish and chips and I had the scallops - everything was perfect and so flavorful. The scallops were buttery and perfectly cooked, served with yummy sauce and the smoothest potato puree as well as some crispy potato pieces. I love ordering scallops because I'd never attempt to make them, and these were perfect. We also split the Winter salad that is made with smoked beets, and I fell in love with it. I really love beets, and now I want to try smoking them myself. Very yummy and a large portion - 3, maybe 4 people could split this salad. I like that you could come during the week and not break the bank, or come and order it all! Our bill was $300 after tip, but we really splurged this time for New Year. They also had some fab sounding specials - a snow crab claw which is rare to find, and a Chilean sea bass that sounded excellent. The ambiance is cool - you could come in very casually, but if you wanted to dress up a bit, you wouldn't feel out of place. The lighting is really nice but the seating is kind of basic. Benches along the walls and no frill chairs. I highly recommend - if I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be here all the time.

I went today for their special Feast of the Many Fishes. I've driven by this restaurant so many times while commuting to work so I was able excited to finally get a chance to try it out! Definitely book early- even the bar was reservation only due to volume for this weekend! I had their Lobster Lasagna. The presentation and the flavor was delightful. The combination of the sauce with the lobster was unexpected, and tasty. Their garlic bread was freshly made and spongy. It was a great size for one person! Even though the restaurant was really busy, my waitress would stop by to make small talk, which was so appreciated since I was on my own tonight. Overall a great experience, I would love to go back during their regular menu/happy hour !

Superb. After hearing many recommendations- I had to check out voyager. I was not disappointed. I will preface by saying- their menu is curated for smaller more hand crafted dishes- SO, do yourself a favor and order a few. The oysters were fresh, and delicious. The hot crab dip was delicious... but the surprising rising star? The sardine toast. Never in a million years. And the lobster gnocchi was just.. chefs kiss. It's a smaller establishment- so do yourself and make a reservation. But the great service and vibes make it worth your trip!

Well well well , my friend and I wanted a good lobster roll and this is where it came to get it from. We got there pretty late so we could not dine in but we were able to order out. We kept it simple and ordered lobster rolls (warm) and an order of peel & eat shrimp. At first the lobster roll looked a lil skimpy for 40 dollars, but looks were very deceiving, lol. THAT LOBSTER ROLL WAS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD! FILLED WITH GOOD LOBSTER MEAT NO FINS BC EWWW! BUTTERY AND WARM! The peel and eat shrimp were some of the best I have had, very delicious ! Overall it was a good experience. I wish we could of dined in, maybe next time!

The best and freshest seafood menu around. Everything was wonderful, from the service to the drinks to the food, it was all 5 stars. My favorite bite was the squid on a stick but honorable mentions to the tuna tartare and the caviar grilled cheese

How haven't I reviewed this place yet? I've been steady eddy with my girl Voyager for a min now. She's as steady as she goes, man, consistently amazing. Man I love my girl Voyager. The vibes? Intimate comma friendly. Happy hour? Elite two-buck-shucks and the most wonderful filet-o-fish this side of Ronald McDonald. Many a night cracking crab legs and throwin down shots. Get the chowder. Get the hush puppers. I love love this place.

I have been meaning to try this place. It's a cute little place in Ferndale. We were lured in to try their special which was the soft shell crab tacos. It was delicious with the avocado cream along with the green salsa. We went during happy hour so we tired the $2 shuck oysters. They were very fresh. To end it all, tried the halibut fish and chips. The fish was flaky and the tartar sauce was a good accompaniment. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Definitely coming back.

First time at Voyager in Ferndale and it was a great experience all around. The space is small but cozy with a lively energy without being too loud. Staff was friendly and attentive the whole night. We ordered the Belfonte seafood tower, hush puppies, crab dip, and the special prawn fried rice. The seafood tower was solid with oysters, crab legs, mussels, and shrimp, all super fresh and served with nice sauces. The hush puppies were crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, with a scoop of butter that made them even better. The crab dip was rich and warm, served with grilled toast that had the right amount of char. The standout for me was the prawn fried rice. Portions were fair for the quality, and overall it felt like a good value for a seafood-focused place. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

We walked into Voyager on a Saturday night without a reservation and every staff member we encountered was so incredibly kind to us. There weren't any tables available, but the hostess took down my number and gave us an estimated wait time for each dining area (outside, dining room, or bar). She gave us a menu in case we wanted to order drinks while we waited. The Crystalline and zero proof/non-alcoholic Side Eye were both great! Everyone was super laid back, but still very professional, and took such good care of us--especially Dan. We ended up getting seats at the bar and enjoyed every single dish. Dan took note of my gluten-free restriction and guided us through our choices: West Coast (Washington) Oysters, Yellowfin Tuna Tartare (toast on the side for my boyfriend), Charred Radicchio and Turnip Salad (one of the best salads I've ever had and will be thinking about this and all future summers), Pan-seared Yelloweye Rockfish special, and the Chocolate-coconut Pot de Crème to finish. I'm looking forward to visiting more often for the 2-Buck-Shuck Happy Hour and other dinner specials this summer!

It's little changes like that that elevate the dish beyond other regular sushi offerings. It was so appreciated! We ordered the spicy tuna roll. It had the excellent tuna and then they put yum sauce on it. That was odd because it masked the beautiful taste of the bluefin tuna, and that made it a miss for me. If you order, do yourself a favor and tell them no sauce. The dragon roll had real snow crab inside and eel and avocado on top. This also had a crunchy topping that I would tell them to hold if I did it again. It didn't really add anything to the dish and it obscurred the taste of the tender eel a bit. Not until I broke open a piece to isolate the snow crab could I truly appreciate the delicate flavor. It got a little lost inside the vibrant roll. The red dragon roll was well balanced and exactly what I was expecting. The bluefin tuna could easily shine on top of this roll. And it did. It was rich and succulent. The tigerlilly roll was lovely and topped with salmon and roe. It says on the menu it was torched. Ours was not. It was perfect the way we got it though, so I wouldn't change anything. I also ordered eel sashimi and the avocado, asparagus and cucumber roll for something refreshing. We all shared the rolls as we had drinks at the bar. Our bartender was attentive, friendly, and brought the sushi along with serving us our drinks. The lychee martini was a hit. What an interesting and slightly tart flavor! The layout includes three bars: the main bar, the sushi bar, and the tiki bar. The crab rangoon cheese katsu sticks were as good as they sound. I was worried there wouldn't be much crab, but that wasn't the case. The lobster tail robata was easy to peel, and complemented well by its accompaniments. The pork belly robata was tender, while the tare added some sweetness. Of the two, I preferred the pork belly. I've had four of the six bao buns. The chicken had a char flavor, and the steak sauce added some welcome moisture. The filet was tender, with a bold but not overbearing garlic aioli. The pork belly was also tender, glazed with a sweet honey, and balanced by some savory pickles. The sausage had a nice snap, and the Fresno peppers gave it a bit of a kick. The filet and pork belly were my two favorites. The sushi is some of the best I've had locally. The shikotsu roll (wagyu and bone marrow) was incredibly rich and buttery. $36 may seem steep, but it's the most memorable sushi roll I've ever had. The toro (fatty tuna) to caviar was also very impressive, and had soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Here's how I rank the nigiri I've tried: 1. Tamago (omelette) 2. Madai (sea bream) 3. Aji (horse mackerel) 4. Shima Aji (striped jack) 5. Ikura (salmon roe) 6. Uni (sea urchin) Lastly, for dessert, I've had the key lime pie. It was remarkably fluffy and honestly one of the best slices I've had. Simply put, TigerLily blew me away. I can confidently say it's one of my favorite restaurants in the Metro Detroit area. What a terrific experience. Oysters. Radish salad. Wild boar kebabs. Lamb ravioli. Quail. Cabbage. One course after another had us looking at each other and saying, "I want to lick the plate." Our serving team was led by Rachel, who was outstanding. Everyone who brought a dish to the table was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely excited about the food. Even in a packed restaurant, they made us feel like we were the most important guests in the room. The décor is fascinating--eclectic, quirky, and full of personality. Nothing seems to match, yet somehow everything works perfectly together. The drinks were spectacular. They even had my favorite beer, Miller Genuine Draft (yes, I'm old school). And the bartender is a Knicks fan, which certainly didn't hurt. One final tip: visit the website and watch the video about the history of Mabel Gray before you go. All of the savory food was spectacular and the quality of the meats and the freshness of the veggies really shined through in every item. The service was top notch, every dish was well explained and my eating area was cleaned and silverware replaced whenever dirty. The speed of service was amazing, i eat quick and they brought my courses quickly while the group next to me was slower and they weren't rushed, clearly adjusted service for both our groups. I have two criticisms: 1. The chocolate cake dessert was lack luster and boring compared the rest of the menu. 2.
