Before coming here I called and was told they don't do carry out orders and that I would have to come in to order. That was no problem, but I specifically remember reading another review where someone stated they made a carry out order for pickup, so I thought maybe their policy changed. When I get there, I notice that there were people walking in and simply picking up there food. This leads me to believe they were picking up their carry out orders but maybe they ordered inside, went back to their car and then came to pick it up. I highly doubt this was the case but I was already there so I went ahead and ordered. Now the service when I got there was very good. The person taking orders seemed very nice and I'm not even sure this was the same person I spoke with over the phone. I ordered the lobster grilled cheese sandwhich that comes with fries. It's about $30 and as pricey as that is, I wanted to give it a shot. I do think the sandwich was good and the fries were tasty as well. I don't know if it's all worth $30 but at least it was tasty. They do have many other items on their menu and from my understanding it's all very tasty so I would say check them out. Hey everybody, I'm back with another restaurant review. I give honest reviews and that includes the good and the bad. I visited a restaurant that is new to me, The Smackin in Redford on 8 mile near Beech Daily. After seeing a TikToker rave about this place I wanted to try it. I went on my lunch hour and I'm glad I ordered ahead via a online ordering app. I waited in my car until the alert came through that the order was ready. I went in and the order wasn't actually ready. It needed a few more minutes even though the app told me it was. Definitely pre-order so you can get your food in a reasonable time. There were a lot of people in there waiting for their food. There were some small circular high tables, but not a lot of seating available. I definitely consider this a carryout spot, so it was a car lunch kind of day. At first glance the food looked really good as you can see, the lobster grilled cheese sandwich was placed on a bed of fries. You can tell that the bread is toasted. Looks really good right? At first glance, yes.  But when I picked up the sandwich and turned it over, the first thing I noticed was that it was burnt. Absolutely burnt! Big red flag for me. I did not like that, but I went ahead and took a bite anyway as I was already back in my work parking lot and there was no way I was going back to the restaurant and be late to work. The sandwich tasted bland to me. Very heavy on the butter which made it greasy, unfortunately it was also very light on the lobster flavor. You could physically see the lobster but the flavor wasn't quite there. I don't know if it was drowned out by too much butter or maybe it was the burnt bread. Whatever it was, it overpowered the lobster. Also, I don't believe it was 100% lobster meat. I think there was possibly Langoustines in there to help beef up the lobster filling. Had the sandwich not been burnt, it probably would have tasted a lot better. I love a good for fry. Unfortunately these were softer than I  prefer and they were missing salt all together. They did not provide salt in the bag so soft unseasoned fries it was. Which also wasn't the best impression. I ordered a "fresh lemonade" on the app and it did not indicate that it was a frozen slushie style flavored drink. So when I arrived and I was given a choice of frozen flavors, I was surprised because I didn't want a slushie. Regardless, it was pretty good even though it didn't taste like lemonade. I had two flavors mixed together and I liked it but it was very sweet as one would expect. So overall the meal was greasy, under seasoned, and sweet from the drink. Not my favorite combination. I had such high hopes based on the review I had seen. Sadly this was a fail for me. Especially for the price tag of the sandwich. The lobster grilled cheese is ($32) and frozen lemonade ($6).  I was pretty disheartened by the fact that they would actually serve a burnt sandwich that cost $32.  Will I go back? Very unlikely. Maybe my visit was a fluke?  Either way, I was disappointed with my lunch. read more

So let me start off saying... They are pricey!! Wrap your mind around that fact and let's move forward. First time here and there is a line to the door. My inner fat kid moaned because i'm inpatient and hungry . the cashier was pleasant whipped through the line fairly quickly. There are no menu boards posted. There is a copy of a menu on the counter. Would be nice to have your selection ready before you got to the cashier. The restaurant is clean with great graphics on the wall.This is bar food with no bar. This place right here is very pricey. The visuals looks phenomenal when you walk in. The customer service is good enough. Let's get to the food. I got the bbq wings and the chicken bacon ranch egg roll. Both of these came with fries. The fries here were flavorless I gotta be honest. No salt, no flavor. The chicken wings were good & saucy, done well had a great taste. The chicken bacon ranch egg rolls were good. Had really good flavor. I also ordered a frozen drink. The machine was taking a while to freeze so we couldn't get them frozen however they were still great. The total was 50+ dollars & I gotta say it was totally not worth it. I am willing to go again to try one of the sandwiches & they're meatless options (they get a plus there) but overall the food is overpriced. If you wanna treat yourself go for it. But don't break ya neck n rush to get some food because it looked great on TikTok. read more

The food was excellent! We ordered the chicken and catfish dinners. The food was well seasoned, not restaurant seasoned, and the sides were like Sunday dinner over Mom's house. You can't go wrong ordering here I was told by other patrons! That all being said, why are there only 3 stars?! The PRICES. I can get the identical meal at Bistro Orleans for $10 cheaper per entrée. Now you've got a decision to make, eat here in Southfield or travel to Sterling Heights. Both are awesome and you didn't have to slave over a hot stove!!! read more

I didn't get a picture of the food bc it was too good. I had the grilled cheese burger and fries with turkey burger instead of beef patty. The cashier was so sweet and willing to answer all questions service was good. I really enjoyed the slushy I had the peach one. You guys, I'm fr blown away here! My friends and I have been waiting to get some time to all go here together and we all have 5 stars across the board. Pictured here I had the honey garlic wings "BOMB, like fr best wings ever" with their hand cute fries, and the Cornbeef egg rolls with the fried okra. I also had the cherry pineapple frozen drink and the strawberry banana pudding. I couldn't say enough good things about how good this food was. The wings were literally perfect, flavorful, perfectly cooked, the sauce was incredible, and the eggrolls were "SMACKIN". Please go try this place out, it is truly incredible. read more

This is a bar food without the bar. Small handheld meals made to be served quickly and ate easily. I had a carry out order of the lobster bites with a side of honey ginger sauce. I think that basically this place isn't really a good place for burgers. At least not for me. The burger had a weird, strange taste. I'm not even sure what to say about the service. I couldn't tell if it was good or bad. This place is tucked in between a couple of businesses and parking is very limited. It's a little small inside. I can tell that a lot of effort was put into the food and it was great quality. I got the lobster grilled cheese and it came with fries. The sandwich was crusted in some sort of garlic parm which I think most people would love. The cheese and lobster on it was good. It was really rich and had an interesting flavor to it. I wouldn't get the sandwich again but if you are a garlic lover, this is definitely something you should try. The fries had a nice seasoning on them. I got a mix of the frozen peach lemonade and the frozen cherry lemonade and that was delicious! The other people I was with got a burger, the pierre sandwich, and the garlic parm wings. They said everything was good. One of the items we ordered was made with the wrong meat, but they offered for us to get a replacement and their customer service was good. They're a bit pricey but the portion sizes are large and the quality is up to par. I would come again! :) read more

I love that Redford is getting more Black owned businesses. I wish they had other methods for online ordering, going through UberEats or Postmates isn't my preference. My bigger concern is the pricing; something many reviewers have brought up. For the size and portion, it doesn't align for me price wise. I ordered the Smackin Wings, that came with fries. I also ordered a Strawberry Lemonade. My total for just those 2 menu items was $30. Subjectively, it wasn't worth $30. That said, it all still tasted great! That lemonade was spectacular. Just sweet enough for me. The wings were flavored in the Smackin Lemon Pepper. Reallly good! There just wasn't much of it. Aside from all of that, the customer service was cool. The building itself is nice, modern set up with nice graphics on the wall. I heard about this place from social media, and based on my experience you can tell they put a lot of energy and resources behind the partnerships and marketing, but I think the restaurant suffers because of that emphasis. First off to get it out of the way, the menu items are outrageously priced. For a carry out centric restaurant, 18 dollars for a "Ribeye" burger that I would bet my life was 80/20 ground chuck based on how it tasted is absolutely ridiculous. 6 dollars for a small side of shoe string fries, the list goes on. As for the food itself, I had the Fatso Burger. The patty itself was decently cooked and juicy, but the flavor was nothing to write home about. The patties are made a little thick for my liking. The fries were hot, but weren't really crispy and were extreme thin shoe string style fries. The person I went with got the Lobster grilled cheese and based on the couple bites I took the bread was overcooked and the lobster filling tasted kind of off, almost like it's not all lobster inside of the sandwich. All in all I cannot say this place is worth the money. Maybe if they change some things up, but as it stands today it's not worth spending upwards of 25 dollars on for a meal by any means. read more
