Typical dive bar with good food and good price for what you are getting. Looks like the have a theme everyday: Monday - $1/10oz draft beer and sliders ($1 beef/$1.50 chicken/$2 fish) Tuesday - ladies night (happy hour) 9pm to close and $1 tacos Wednesday: $4 bombs Thursday - S.I.N night I'm pretty sure there's more - I happen to see it posted on a mirror. Surprisingly no current reviews.... Maybe because no one wants to leak where the best Friday fish dinners are..,. Lord we know it gets crowded enough on Fridays without broadcasting it. Hands down some of the best fried fish I've ever had, and I've had it all the way up the east coast to Maine...Since Covid the menu has gotten a bit smaller, prices up alittle like everywhere, but the Cod dinner is still a great value and kicking butt. Big portion of lightly breaded cod with your choice of sides ( which is a really nice option for a bar) I usually get salad and grilled veggies. They also have a pretty great bar burger and fries.... but we go for the fish...the atmosphere's calm, regulars drinking, sports on the tube, and staff is always friendly. My only complaint and it is wee... don't like the tartar.. not sure why, it's just not that good...not worthy of that fish anyway... I either bring my own or opt for lemon and hot sauce..... Very good place to choose, most of their food is very good to me, Last time i went, did not like the steak sub, said no onions and pickles and still got onions. They make the sub very very sweet and the guy said that I did not say no onions, but that is ok, it was just one time. My uncle also won $150 on a 2 dollar ticket which was awesome! read more

We were looking for a lunch stop before heading over to the Redford Theater to catch a weekend matinee. We quickly realized that the city of Redford stood between us and the movie theater and comically realized Redford's dining choices on yelp were pretty much all bars. Michno's had good reviews. Their Reuben, always a Ken fav, was mentioned. I called to see if they were open and serving lunch, any got a smart Alec reply (she thought I was joking then said she 'I'm looking forward to seeing you, Liz!' Ooooh, darn caller ID!). Yep, we were in for some fun! Large, open place. A couple of diehard patrons. The woman I spoke to cried 'Liz!' (Safe to assume because I was the only other woman besides her and the woman owner) and was friendly as hell. We sat at the bar and split a coney, the Reuben, and a burger. Plus a beer each. Lots of food, but we wanted to get the flavor of the place. And that flavor was goooood. Nothing fancy. Nothing pretentious. Just straight-forward basic, tasty good and cold beer served by nice folks.. We'd return. Heck, we already have. read more

Lots of TV's showing the game along with a VERY large HD projection TV (very nice picture my I add) On Monday nights the big screen plays host to Wii video games. So if you want to try playing Wii bowling or golf on a wall size screen, this is the place. Very good beer battered fish and chips on Friday. In fact most of the food is good. Had an excellent white bean chicken chili there and the burgers can shame to those places that claim "best burgers in town" Michnos are just as good if not better. We had some time to kill before the Redford Theater opened. We usually hit Sandy's on the beach for fish and chips but hit Scotty Simpsons instead. After eating we were looking for a drink before the movie and we found them. We made in time for happy hour. I'm not sure of all the drinks but they have 2 dollar pints. The bartender was incredibly friendly and the customers at the bar sang praises for their fish dinner. After chatting for a bit we went out to their patio. We loved it. It's enclosed and very clean. The bar had a northern Michigan feel. We are then further shown how the customers behave at this bar. A guy comes over and asks if it would bother us if he smoked and after we said no he made sure he was at a distance from us. Although its a bit of a ways from Royal Oak, I would love to come back and eat here. Solid 4 stars. read more

Service was off. We started with a waitress who gave us menus, went to get our drinks (2 minutes) and then wanted to know if we were ready- hadn't really had a chance to peruse the menu- so with two minutes we were ready. We sat, sat, sat... About 7-10 minutes I waved down a different waitress ( they weren't busy - 3 tables in service and they were finishing up) . So I wanted the fish dinner and Mac cheese - no Mac cheese - it's offered after 4 pm , it was now 7 and none left. The waitress informed me that the week before it was gone by 6... Wouldn't you project your sales and make enough to get you through the evening??? Fish was very very good. Fresh. Perfect breading to fish ratio. The pieces were thin and flaky. The fries were typical good fries. I didn't care for the slaw. It was too tangy. Hubs was going to have soup and sandwich- menu said ask about today's soup--- NO SOUP! So he settled for a stack ham cheese which was pretty good and fries. Now let's go back to Mac cheese. Remember I was told there wasn't any Mac cheese by our original waitress, BUT two patrons came in, sat at the bar and ordered fish MAC CHEESE and fries. And they got MAC CHEESE! WTH!?? The atmosphere is great. I love places like this. It's a place where locals hang and everyone knows your name ( except if you're a newbie) it's casual and very comfortable. Oh the nights I've had at dear Michno's! Neighborhood bar, mixed crowd, karaoke on Wednesdays. Love Anthony and the rest of the staff, they get us what we need when we need it and will even do a shot with us from time to time. Good food too, love the Reuben! Good place to watch World Cup, especially if a game is on Fri and I can eat the lake perch. No other foosball afficianados there, so soccer tribalism is non existant. Like most bars, pretty empty during the early afternoon. And Ron lets me have the screens in a quiet corner. The ocasional regular hanging out at the counter doesn't know enough to make comments, but it habing world cup could drive away some regulars who fear U.N. plots of world domination. It used to be kind of dank inside, but I'll tell you this, they make one of the best burgers I have found in Michigan. They grill the bun, the patty is large, give you a big chunk of onion instead of a couple rings...other than that its regular bar food. read more

They are just a little pricey for a bar. Although, I highly doubt you will be disappointed with the draft beer selection (plenty of Michigan beers) or the food. Burgers, fries, sandwiches are all fantastic. I've eaten here about 10 or 11 times now and I get something different every time. This fish on Fridays is excellent. Free juke box on Tuesday night is a great way to have a few beers and relax without it being too loud. Back to the prices: I love the Stables in Livonia too but the Stables seems to come in around $10-20 cheaper for a night out than Michnos. Maybe because Stables has a rewards program. Michnos should try that out and I would come in even more! The draft beer is always cold. I'd even recommend trying the Chicken wrap!
