In the area for work and wanted a healthy alternative so I stopped in for lunch and oh man was that the best soup I have ever had. Today I visited this newly opened establishment and I have to admit I was completely blown away! When I walked in I had 3 different people welcome me before I could take 10 steps. After explaining that I had never been there before I was quickly ushered over to the soup counter where I was handed free samples of each variety. From what I understand this place regularly serves 6 kinds of soup daily along with a laundry list of sandwiches. After my little taste testing excursion I ordered the Black Forest Ham sandwich (served with smoked Gouda, lettuce and tomato on sun dried tomato swirl bread) which was very delicious. This seems to be a perfect place for a light and healthy lunch. In fact they advertise themselves as "A fusion of healthy & delicious". Right now I am a fan... I love this place. Great lunch spot with a lot of healthy options. Also feel good supporting a local business that treats their employees fairly rather than Panera. Pleasantly surprised! We were looking to try a new place in the southfield area. We were hoping for place to sit down with a larger group, but this worked just fine. Went to the food truck here in downtown Detroit today. Saw the Gumbo online and had to have it. Their was a slight wait but I didn't mind. When I got back to my office and opened the bowl, which was very pretty, the contents looked like over corn starched gravy.When I tasted it it was so so. My biggest complaint was I only had shrimp. No sausage or even just a little lumped crab meat. There were only a few strands. So, I doubt I'll be going back if they return. read more

They knew they were BURNT and completely COULD HAVE said, "ma'am you've had double the wait, we're sorry, can we refund money because we botched them and/OR "replace them with two pieces of cornbread." But did they?! I arrived 30 minutes after they opened at 11, on a Friday. By my receipt it took me 8 minutes to choose, order, and pay. The place was completely empty. Fifty five minutes later, when I finally got my takeout, more than a dozen people who arrived and ordered after me were eating, or done eating. I had ordered a meal, a smoothie, and some soup. All 3 were tasty, but nearly an hour is a long time to wait for takeout. Further, despite making the owner aware, no apologies were preferred, and no attempt was made to make up for the situation. Everytime I order my food it's NEVER ready, ordering through the app has been a hassle everytime whether they don't have an item, or read my order wrong, it really is an inconvenience not being able to call in your order. Today I was told they didn't have seafood pasta salad, which is what they tell me almost every-time I order, so when do you? Or take it off the menu, also I received a burnt black bean burger that was so hard I couldn't bite. A+++++ excellent. From staff to food quality, this place is great. I came in right around 11am as they were opening. As the staff was preparing for the lunch rush, they still treated me with undivided attention. I ordered the Gumbo and roast beef sandwich, I chose from 4 breads and 3 different cheeses. As I waited, without even asking - the gentleman behind the register gave me tastings of about 5 soups, which were all excellent! The soup was pretty good, I guess...but the service was disorganized, and not that friendly. We weren't offered any samples of the soup. (I didn't even know that was an option until reading the other reviews, just now). The menu and the ordering process were both kind of confusing too. Then I tried to use a coupon, and they acted like it was the first time in their entire lives that they had seen a coupon...of any kind. 3 different people had to come out of the back room to figure it out. I felt like I was inconveniencing them. Not sure if they were having an off day or what. I kind of thought they had just opened and were still figuring things out, but they said they'd been open for 3 years already. Not sure if I'll be back. Let me start by saying that the food is very good!! That's why I've been back 3 times since trying it out. However, I strongly urge you to call ahead of times I've waited at least 30 minutes at least 2 out of the 3 times. I tried the tuna sandwich with salmon chowder soup today. The salmon chowder is now my favorite soup. I even like it more then the seafood gumbo they have. I Love the food here but they lack efficiency. They have an app that says you can order and even confirms your order. I order online because I have a limited lunch schedule and I understand that everything is prepared fresh and made to order. I went to pick up my order and I told them I had an online order through the app. Her response was "oh that doesn't work". Not only did I attempt to call and confirm my order and kept being transferred straight to voicemail. Not only did I stand in line for 10 minutes to be told my order was never received I was felt the lack of concern. Something needs to be changed!! Very cozy. I had the beef stew soup. It was very good. A little peppery but good. The sweet cornbread was a perfect compliment.
