Excellent corned beef! Easily some of the best I've had in my life. I ordered a corned beef sandwich and a small cup of their dive gumbo. AMAZING! They showed up at my hotel half an hour before the earliest estimate (your results may vary). The gumbo was phenomenal to say the least. I called ahead to find out what the soup choices were and they lady who answered was pleasant enough - not over or under. When I first arrived, I was shocked to see a sign in the window that said they use Boarshead meats! Well, rock on - I LOVE Boarshead's meats, cheeses and sauces. They have one "pro". I was a little turned off by the Panera-bread-type prices on the menu, but I kept an open mind since I was using a Groupon. When I got there, one of the owners (recognized her from an Hour Magazine article) asked if I would like to taste a soup (again, just pleasant enough). I tasted the veggie and the Gumbo Dive. The veggie was tasty, but maybe just a bit to acidic and and the "broth" was a bit thick for a veggie soup, but it was still good. It had some kind of herb flavor to it, also. I pressed on and tried the Gumbo Dive. The gumbo tasted like the recipe was on the right track to being good, but failed because of the heavy-handed cook put way to much salt in the gumbo. So I ordered my soups - two veggies, gave the owner my Groupon, we walked down to the register and she said NOTHING. She just barely looked at me. She didn't ask what sandwiches I would like. She didn't ask if I wanted something to drink. She DID repeatedly click her pen top up and down (basically her way of saying, "hurry up!" or "I'm bored" or "I having a bad day!"). So after one minute of silence, except for the "clickty, click" of the pen top, I said, "So what sandwich can I have?" She pointed at the itty bitty writing on the Toshiba TV display behind her and said, "Any one of the eight sandwiches." So I ordered a corn beef and a turkey sandwich. I ordered everything to-go, so I did not get a chance to taste anything until I got home. About 10 minutes later (gotta work on their processes), my order was ready. The owner's face lit up and she said some really nice pleasantries (just the right amount of nice!) I was pleasantly surprised that the sandwiches were very good. The corned beef sandwich had a crazy kind of broccoli coleslaw on it. I know it sounds weird, but it was really good. It came with some "Dive" dressing - some secret SoupDive recipe. That was a mayonnaise with a hint of herb...decent dressing. The turkey sandwich was good, as well. It came with the same special Dive dressing. The sandwiches were supposed to come with cheese, but I didn't get any on either sandwich. I would have to say that the meats are top-notch because Boarshead meats are top-notch. Boarsheads meats are way more flavorful than say Subway meats. Actually Subway meats have no flavor at all in my opinion. All in all, I am a fan. Will I be back anytime soon? Unfortunately, I don't believe so. I visited this placed after the lunch time, so I could see the service being really slow if I visit at a more popular time, like say lunchtime. The prices scare me and the portions are small. The food would be hard to swallow if I had to pay regular price, but if someone is paying or I have a coupon, I am all in! PRO: Boarshead meats, homemade soups, privately-owned (nothing "chainy" about this place), free WiFi, restaurant is clean and neat (but that should be a given for any restaurant), great place to get take out CON: Kind of expensive, small portions, small areas to sit and eat (not sure if I want to eat in front of the cash register or close to a walking path), no cubby holes to have a private conversation, the wait can be a bit long, no take-out menus (I guess they are being green) I hope they find the market that will keep them open. They are making a great effort at being good restaurant and I can see that. They are still a bit rough around the edges though. Go to Panera Bread instead. So this is my review after another year of eating here about every 2 weeks sometimes more. Soups are still excellent. Turkey chops melt in your mouth. Salmon croquettes are superb. Turkey burgers are soooo juicy and tasty. I am still very happy to eat here every chance I get. Quality and consistency is always there. Owners are kind and considerate. "Just go" should be enough to make you try Soup Dive... but I'll give you a bit more than that. Definitely call ahead for a carry out and expect about 30 minutes to pass by before your food is done. I live out of state but EVERY TIME I'm in the area I make a point to at least pick up a seafood pasta. Very good soup but also very rich. I had the cream of broccoli which had a wonderful broccoli flavor but was very creamy. When the soup started to cool the creamy texture turned to a greasy feeling in my mouth. I could not finish it. My sandwich was good (Turkey w/ provolone) but my bread seemed stale so they over buttered the bread and grilled it to bring it back to life. The meat and all of the ingredients seemed very fresh and good. The staff was less than desirable. When I mentioned a coupon they got very short with me and stopped offering samples of the soup. They also made customers behind us wait to place their order until we were finished ordering. This was our first visit and none of the sandwiches included descriptions on the menu so we had a lot of questions. I'm usually not a fan of the cookie cutter menu (all sandwiches come with the exact same toppings). I think the chef should invent new flavor combinations, not rely on lettuce, tomato and mayo for everything. I did like the herb mayo they offered but there was too little of it to really enjoy. My hope is the staff lightens up and enjoys their customers, the sandwiches get a remake (new topping combinations) and they offer fountain pop. I waited an hour for my food last time when I went in and placed an order there, and my coworker never received her dish and finally asked to be refunded. The staff was all over the place. It's often hard to find healthy food that is appetizing and local. I have really have no complaints about Soup Dive food or soups. Overall, I've enjoyed meals I've had there--when I infrequently visit. It's the service and staff that took me from 5 to 3 stars. I go infrequently because there is ALWAYS an issue w/ the service. Cashiers who can't work the Apple register, don't fully know the menu, or just seem generally lacking that 'friendly' manner of a small local restaurant. On more than one occasion I felt like I was somehow annoying them to order. Also, the wait is too long each time w/ few to no people present ordering. Seriously, a turkey sandwich and bowl a soup need not take 20 minutes. It's really frustrating because I am a supporter of small 'dives' and would definitely go more often if they would offer better consistent customer service. First time I went here. I ordered the Dive Gumbo, which is supposed to have shrimp and crab. After waiting 20 minutes for the soup and 3 people who ordered after me getting their food first, I get home only to find that there was no crab in the soup. Seriously disappointed. The soup was still good, and they do have a sign saying that it may take up to 20 minutes for your food since they make things to order, but it was not the best first experience. I stopped at this restaurant on recommendation of my sister. She recommended it two years ago and now I am mad it took me so long to get there. The food was excellent. A fusion of healthy and soul food. I had the salmon croquettes with brown rice and vegetables. It came with cornbread that I was not going to eat, but I tasted it and then kept on eating it until it was gone. I also had a Caesar salad which was delicious. Food is great but staff is awful! Completely prejudice towards whites!! I've gone there several times and am always waiting for my food to get made (I'm white), yet someone black will walk in after me and be out before me. I ordered a sandwich today that was supposed to be grilled. After waiting 25 minutes for it, he toasted it for about 30 seconds so it was completely cold, bread wasn't even the slightest bit toasted and cheese was not melted. I've been to this restaurants many times. The soup is over priced but the food is good. My most recent visit was disappointing. I try to support Black owned businesses but this place is one that makes that commitment really hard. Their customer service is terrible!! I ordered a sandwich and requested wheat bread. When I got home I had white bread!! I called and informed them and got no apology. I was only offered to replace the white bun with a wheat bun. I complained that by the time I drive back to the store my sandwich would be cold. She didn't offer to replace the whole sandwich, they would only replace the bun. She stated that I could get a refund which is not what I wanted because by now I'm starved! I had to drive back to the restaurant and wait for them to only grill a bun and reheat my sandwich. What they do realize is that it is very inconvenient to have to drive back to a restaurant when your order is wrong! Gas and time!! They offered me nothing for my inconvenient. Went for lunch today for the first time. I was impressed. It is a small place but very clean. The staff were very friendly and explained all of the options to me. I sampled a few soups but chose the chicken noodle, and got a half turkey sandwhich. Sounds boring - but the chicken noodle was better than my mom's homemade chicken noodle. Full of flavor, chicken and noodles - no skimping. The turkey sandwhich came with dark green lettuce (not the crappy iceberg stuff) and tomato, with their homemade sauce, on grilled chipotle bread. Loved it. Can't remember the name of the sauce but it is very good. Reasonably priced, fresh food and healthy choices. I just hope they get enough business to stay open - they are in a small strip mall that seems like it won't get a ton of traffic, but I hope I am wrong! read more

I love this place for a cup of soup and a sandwich. Much better than what's near it, like COSI and god-awful Zoup! The soups are fresh tasting and the sandwiches with the herb dive spread are delicious. It's a bit expensive, especially some of the soups i.e. the 8 oz. Dive Gumbo is $7.99 (I mean I get it, but still...). The only complaint I've found right now is that I've been looking to get it all this week (it's Thursday) and the soups have been the same since Monday. And Salmon Chowder (which I am sure for the fish lover is good) does NOT sound appealing. So far, the squash and tomato are SOOOO GOOD!!!!! read more

Its a such a shame that the prices are so ridiculously high for the amount of soup given because the taste and quality are stellar! We were shocked they even charge for the bun or cornbread (they don't tell you there is an additional charge when they offer it) when we paid the bill. The soup flavor is fantastic but because of the ridiculous cost, we are sorry to say we will not be back. Even with the $5.00 coupon our 2 small cups of soup and 2 pieces of cornbread was over $10.00 !!! Due to the prices we wouldnt even consider a sandwich or meal. The owners should reconsider their pricing because their product is great and they probably are losing alot of return customers only because of the excessive cost. What a shame!!! Soup Dive has awesome homemade soup. It tastes great and is obviously made with quality products. The food is not the issue. The issue is that it seriously takes SO LONG to get an order completed! We have never ordered anything except soup. Which, by the way, is already made. The first time we went it honestly took 40-45 minutes to get our order! Today it was 20-25 minutes, which is better, but still ridiculous. There wasn't anyone in line ahead of us either time. The crazy thing is, there are at least 5-7 employees in this tiny place at any given moment. Why would it ever take more than 5 minutes to ladle pre-made soups into to-go containers, lid them, bag them, and hand them to the customer? I think maybe there are too many employees. Which sounds backward, but with that many employees, I think you create a, not my job, attitude. The soup sample chick should be asking if you want to taste any of the soups before ordering, then asking which soup, if any, you want, and then filling the bowls to have them ready for when you go up to the register. It would make filling the orders way faster. I will give Soup Dive a few more chances since I do really enjoy the soup, once I finally receive it. Hopefully they will improve. This is the most unprofessional and ghetto restaurant i have ever encountered. The food is never prepared in a timely matter. I have waited 2 hours for a salad that should take no longer than 15 mins to make. I have been to this establishment several times but will never return again. The cashier Anna, well at least that what they told me her name was tried to attack me like she as an animal when i requested another salad because it dropped due to the poor packaging. She continued with calling me out of my name and threatening my life. Very disorganized,and unprofessional. I am reporting them to the better business bureau also because they write down customers credit card information on piece of paper after I had specifically asked them not to over the phone and they promised me they wouldn't but when I went in to pick up my order I saw my full credit card number details including expiration date at the front counter.
