This is my 3rd time trying out the Soup Shoppe! Every time I go, I just feel like I'm at home! I wish I had pictures but we ATE IT SO FAST! My sister visited from Palm Springs and she LOVED the style & balcony especially! She really wanted to get a pie! I ordered the croissant turkey sandwich & it was SOO delicious! Very cozy breakfast & lunch restaurant, cramped seating but it works. I had a stuffed tomato with ham salad, the ham salad was good but I kind of wish it had more celery and pickles in it. I had navy bean soup which was very good and my daughter had turkey noodle soup which was absolutely phenomenal. I look forward to trying the stuffed cabbage, meatloaf, and turkey meals. Came for a late breakfast on a Thursday morning, around 10. Plenty busy. Staff was friendly and food was good. I appreciate that they roast their own turkey and chicken, and their baked goods are made fresh, but the quiche was a bit lacking and the breakfast potatoes a bit bland, even w/onions cooked in. One gentleman, at a table next to us, left after learning margarine, not butter was used in the dish he was planning to order. He apparently has a food allergy to margarine, so he wasn't going to risk it. I was surprised to learn the Quiche Lorraine contained onion and bacon, but no other vegetable (i.e. broccoli or asparagus is common in QL), so I went w/spinach mushroom. Ok, but a bit greasier than I'd like. My friend ordered a Benedict, but avocado instead of ham. I was further surprised to see, what appeared to be, processed American cheese slices on her English muffin. But the eggs were perfectly coddled, so the dish looked pretty. The buttermilk biscuit was VERY good. Light and airy w/ a perfect taste. No hint of baking powder aftertaste, which is very common, and the gravy was also very tasty, I assume because it was prepared from scratch using the aforementioned fresh roasted chicken. My boyfriend took me here as a treat on a Sunday morning, around 10 am . The place was small but clean and very friendly. I like mom and pop shops as you get more home cooked meals . Our experience was not good after that .. although they kept our coffee cops full , our food , an omelette and breakfast burger took 30 minutes to get and my home fries were just a chopped up baked potatoes.. one cook was preparing all the orders?!? 2020 was the first time we've ever ordered out for our Thanksgiving dinner. The take-out dinners we ordered from the Soup Shoppe was a nice surprise. Everything was homemade and true, like another reviewer said, needed a little salt. That's an easy add at home and good for people who don't like a lot of salt (like my husband). The meal came in oven proof containers with everything you could want for a proper Thanksgiving dinner. It was yummy, fairly priced and we were happy to be able to support a local business. What a disappointment this place is...My son told me about this place and said it was good.. Visited this place today, Friday 2/7, because my wife was told that the food was good. I was highly disappointed in thiss place for many reasons. 1. The quality of the food is inferior. I had the low carb turkey plate with turkey, cottage cheese and a fruit mix. The turkey was dry, flavorless and stale. The fruit mix was canteloupe and watermelon, the canteloupe was ok but the watermelon tasted old and stale and seemed to have been sitting in the fridge about 3 days too long. The cottage cheese was watery and not appealing in looks or taste and the rye bread was not good either. In my dining experience, this one rates extremely low because everything on my plate was trash. 2. The service was substandard, my wife, son and I visited and we arrived about 1 pm or so, not a busy time of day for them. The lady shouted across the restaurant from behind the counter that we could sit wherever. She brought menus and took our drink order. After about 10 mins, a different woman came by the table to take our food order. When we were done, the woman brought me the check and I immediately took out my credit card to pay. So I am holding the check and my card in front of the waitress but she seems to be more preoccupied with the table behind ours to notice my gesture to take the payment. Finally, I walked over to the register to pay because the waitress was clueless about our table. 3. My low carb plate and a glass of water cost $11.99, my son ordered the grilled chicken salad and a glass of water, also $11.99 and my wife ordered a bowl of vegetable beef soup and a glass of water and that was $5.99 for a total out the door tab of $33.73. Afterwards, as we drove by Pietros Italian down the street on Brockton, I started thinking of about 10 different places we could've gone for lunch for the same price. Ultimately our first and last experience at the Soup Shoppe was a great disappointment because of the food, the service and the overall experience. I certainly do NOT recommend this place as your money will be better spent elsewhere, but that is my personal experience, if you have an interest in checking out this place, perhaps your experience will be better than mine, who knows? read more

My fiance and I have lunch here at least once a week. Expect that the majority of your fellow diners will be members of AARP, with the occasional group of local business men/women thrown in for spice. The place itself has a very old school Americana, Mom's kitchen kind of vibe. Which is appropriate, because the food reminds me of good old-fashioned home cooking. Nothing too fancy, but good. They run daily specials ranging from meatloaf, to baked chicken, to corned beef on St. Patty's Day (better than my mom makes, which is saying a lot). They also have 3 different homemade soups daily. Check the whiteboard when you come in. I've tried most of their sandwiches, and have yet to be disappointed. I love that they use real meats (not processed lunchmeat, real sliced from the roast turkey!) on their sammies. The fiancé loves their arcade omelet with a homemade poppy seed muffin. And when they have strawberry pie (again, check the specials board), it is to die for. Service is super friendly, which is what makes this place special in my opinion. The owners are typically working during lunch hour, and seem to get to know their clientele, which is nice. I really don't even want to give this place a star because the service was awful!!!! Not a single friendly soul with the exception of a young lady who took our drink order. Our waitress looked like she either had a terrible day and was mad at the world or she had a terrible hangover. Aside from the unfriendly service the waitress took forever to take our order. The BEST oatmeal/cream of wheat-cooked to order. Delicious. Most of the patrons are regulars. Everyone seems to know each other. Most of the servers are friendly, but there is one in particular who is quite frankly the definition of grumpy old lady. She never smiles, and has literally just tossed menus at us.
