I worked for this ownership group for several years, including during the transition from Bobagem to Snooze Café, and my experience was extremely disappointing. Throughout my time there, communication was consistently poor and unpredictable. When Bobagem closed, the entire staff--around 15 people-was left without notice and without a clear timeline for reopening. Even after months of asking for updates, we received almost no information. When Snooze Café finally opened, it operated briefly before closing again with the same pattern: no advance warning, no time to prepare, and no transparency, even though the decision had clearly been in the works for a while. Many of us depended on this job, and the lack of regard for employees' livelihoods was very discouraging. There were also issues around tip handling and general management practices that left staff feeling undervalued and dismissed. Financial discrepancies were brushed off, and concerns were not taken seriously. Snooze Café is now closed, but the same owners operate other restaurants in the area. Based on my experience with how statt were treated, I would recommend considering all of this before choosing where to spend your money. read more

5 Stars! If you're on the hunt for authentic Vietnamese flavors, especially bánh ướt that tastes like it came straight from a Saigon street stall, look no further! This place is a hidden gem that serves the most incredible bánh ướt I've ever had outside of Vietnam. The bánh ướt here is everything it should be--delicate, silky, and packed with flavor. The rice sheets are freshly steamed, just the right thickness, and melt in your mouth with every bite. They're topped with a perfect balance of crispy shallots, Vietnamese pork sausage (chả lụa), and fresh herbs that add a refreshing pop. The dipping sauce (nước chấm) is the ideal mix of savory, sweet, and tangy, bringing everything together beautifully. The staff are super friendly and happy to explain the dishes if you're not familiar with the menu. The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, making you feel right at home. Trust me, if you're craving authentic Vietnamese comfort food, their bánh ướt is worth every penny and more! This spot will transport you straight to the heart of Vietnam. I'll be back again and again! read more

I was really vacillating between 4 and 5 stars here since my final rating for this place is 4.5/5…read more I'm choosing to rate this 5 stars at the end because of high potential, great staff and hearty food! This indoor restaurant is close to the streets of Rainier Ave and there is unmarked parking all along S Grand St you can utilize, but it can be nearly full like on the Saturday noon around 12:30pm I came here with parents. It is in the same building as the Melody Jabooda Apartments, and is pretty compact inside. There's several small tables inside than can fit a max of 3 people, yet the interior muffles the bulk of the noisy traffic on Rainier Ave. There's some decor on the walls and near the counter where the kitchen is, and the counter to order is almost directly in front of the entrance. Phone reception inside was iffy, as I had to go outside the building to check into here on the Yelp app. Seating was full, mostly from patrons ordering and taking their goods to go but with some actually dining in. For a place that serves banh mi, they also have pho, bun, Vietnamese coffee, lattes and matcha drinks. Several of the drinks are also available in hot formats, and all drinks cost the same except for Vietnamese coffee and lattes which cost $1.95 and $1 less before tax, respectively. There are different price tags for the hot drinks. Banh mi sandwiches also come in bags that look like they could be used for roasted coffee beans - they're dark brown and are about the same size as store-bought coffee bean bags. What a coincidence given they also serve coffee! We got many things from here: - Old school Vietnamese coffee ($7, hot): according to my dad (and me after having several sips), this unfortunately tasted more like American coffee; it was missing sweetened condensed milk to make it more like so, and the coffee itself wasn't strong. It seems regular milk was used as the sweetener instead. - Oolong house blend ($8.95): your standard milk tea. I added both grass jelly and tapioca onto this. Mom liked this and had no complaints; I had a sip and thought it was pretty good too. - Grilled pork banh mi sandwich ($9.95, medium toast): I partially shared this one with my mom. Grilled pork is all right at best, otherwise it has all the works of a great banh mi. We'd still prefer the one from Q Bakery for now. - Butterfly matcha: the butterfly pea flower in this drink created a blue hue inside the drink in its own layer and essentially enhanced the ceremonial matcha taste a lot more, since it tasted more woody and earthier than usual once I mixed everything. It's also sweet enough to satisfy any matcha lover out there. I loved this drink a lot and would highly recommend! - House special banh mi sandwich ($10.95, medium toast): this sandwich is much larger than I expected, and comes with Vietnamese ham, pork ham, pate, jalapeños and what looked like Chinese sausage along with the same works as the grilled pork. Everything went well together and it was loaded! All meats were fresh and just this sandwich alone made me really full. Another high recommend! I really appreciated the staff for asking all the clarifying questions for our banh mi sandwiches and drinks, like how toasted we wanted our sandwiches, the sweetness and ice levels of our drinks, and toppings for those drinks. They also let me and other patrons in line know of wait times for our food, with my order being quoted about 15 minutes and coming out by that timeframe. This place has been open since September of last year, and they have a decked out menu for anyone wanting to grab both food and drink. I'm definitely coming back to try their other drinks and sandwiches!

If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food, great service, and some really good dishes, I highly recommend giving Rainier Restaurant a try. My favorite is the lemongrass and red chili. It's not spicy, but rather has the fragrance of the pepper. The fried onion and wood ear mushroom has vermicelli noodles embedded in the tofu, making it an interesting texture. The tofu is $5.50/lb, and I always get at least one pound to eat on the way home, and it's great cold or reheated in the air fryer. I also got tofu stuffed with a pork, wood ear and vermicelli noodle mixture. It's good, but the tofu is really the star. There are also rice skin rolls wrapped around the same mixture, as well as a vegetarian option made with tofu. It reminds me of cheung fun but with thinner wrapper and much better flavor. Don't sleep on the freshly made soy milk either. The parking situation here is anxiety-producing though, with a small yet packed lot. The flavor was just okay, not bad but nothing that made me want to text my friends about it either. The real letdown was the bread. For a Vietnamese sandwich, the bread is everything, and this one felt stale and lacked that crucial crispiness that makes or breaks a banh mi. It's like getting a burger with a soggy bun, technically still food, but missing the soul of what makes it good. The service was solid and the atmosphere was pleasant enough, but when the foundation of your sandwich game isn't on point, it's hard to overlook. Fix the bread situation and bump up the flavor profile, and this could be a solid spot. Right now though, it's just mediocre with promise. Would I go back? Maybe, but probably not for the sandwich.

Plus I really wanted to try their bánh ít ram that's been making the rounds online and seem reliably obtainable only through Facebook Marketplace if your scope is limited to Washington State. I drove the two of us here on a Sunday around 1pm after a slight delay and a bunch of long, empty roads from Beacon Hill to down here. Their parking is limited and is shared with other nearby businesses but I snagged a spot near the front. Getting inside, we did have to wait about 5 minutes or so before staff showed us a seat; it was a full house inside with people filling the two- and four-tops here and there. The seats we sat in at first weren't wiped properly, so we moved to an adjacent table nearby and sat closer to each other to avoid the natural sunlight that definitely brightens this otherwise dark but humble area up. Menu has dishes that are typical of Vietnamese restaurants including pho, banh mi, rice dishes, bun, coffee and kids menu items. We ordered the following for this visit: - Bánh ít ram: this is a combination of a chewy, rice glutinous mochi-like dumpling followed by a small fried rice cake on the bottom. The dumpling itself mostly had pork in it with hints of shrimp, and the fried rice cake might have had some too. Each is sprinkled with green onions and shrimp flakes on top of the dumpling, and the dish comes with nước mắm (fish sauce) on the side. There's a satisfying contrast between the soft mochi-like dumpling and the crunchy fried rice cake base, and it tastes more meaty than what it looks like. For 4 pieces for $10, this is up there in price and small in size too but something you definitely should get here if it's your first time eating it! Put sriracha inside the nước mắm for extra spice and best results. - Spicy lemongrass pho: your average pho with brisket, beef back ribs, beef meatballs and rice noodles followed by some sort of spicy sauce spread on top of the soup. No need to add hoisin sauce here since the beef broth already has a thick, rich taste from all that beef, but you should still add the mint leaves, jalapeños, bean sprouts and lime as usual. Hearty, warm, not too spicy and a good amount of protein especially from the back ribs. A knife should be provided for this dish as the rib was hard to eat without one. Extra steak is $4 more as my friend added into his bowl. This place is farther than what we'd like to travel for food, but I thought it was worth it, and there's many other dishes - both classic and unique ones - that I wanna give a try the next time I drive here!
