We had a gyro platter and chicken Sorrento and it was so tender and moist and flavorful. The service was a bit TOO attentive like we felt like we were being rushed out (5 different employees asked if we were ready to leave) I ordered a coffee which was good but no refill was ever offered. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered a calzone, chicken Parmesan, and chicken piccata. We also had mozzarella sticks and zucchini as starters. I tried some of the house wine which was also yummy! I highly recommend! Our server Debbie was top notch. I would probably do more along the lines of 3.75 stars if I could. However, we really did enjoy our experience overall. There was a wait (which was certainly expected for a Saturday night). The hostess was extremely sweet and friendly as soon as we arrived. We relaxed in the bar while we waited. Mozzarella sticks for the app were good (nice breading, good flavor), although I could tell they had been sitting for a bit (they weren't hot). Food was definitely tasty, would go back to try other dishes. At the end the waitress seemed to be rushing us out a bit. Also, none of the desserts are made in house which I'm not a huge fan of (the waitress didn't know where they came from). I've eaten inside once or twice, years ago. Dark and romantic usually very busy with attentive table service. Lately, we have been calling in to order pick-up. We get one item every time and a few orders of it. The fettuccine Arrabbiata with scampi. Pasta party in your mouth. Flavored perfectly, cooked to perfection. I prefer my pasta consistency al dente and Sorrentos consistently delivers. Every order comes with salad or soup plus yummy buttered bread. I just ordered DoorDash and I have been craving chicken Parmesan because I had had it at Orso and it was the best chicken Parmesan I ever had but Orso isn't on DoorDash so I searched and searched and found one at Sorrento's for $29! Other than the fact that it was the most bland chix parm I've ever had it was also the smallest chicken Parmesan I've ever gotten at a restaurant in my life and for $29!!!!! It came in this little to go thing and I know that had I been eating at the actual restaurant it would've been at the very least a third larger! The minestrone soup it came with that I didn't order was the best part, although it tasted a bit like cardboard until I got a bite of vegetables. I really liked the soup. The salad that I ordered was 90% greens and the garlic bread was some of the worst bread I've ever had, other than the fact that there was garlic and butter on it, there was no flavor and it was dry! The bread was so bad (cheap maybe? I don't know) that it didn't even absorb the butter further than just a thin layer on the top. Thankfully, Coca-Cola doesn't change in the can it comes in!! This is a nice spot in the mid-town area. Very low key. Full Italian menu. Lot's of pizza and pasta dishes. Several vegetarian possibilities. Good service and pricing. The food quality was ok. My penne was a bit overcooked. I tried mu partner's cheese ravioli and so were they. One significant setback was a dirty wine glass. Another was the very confused front of house setup with too many people trying to get contact tracing info and seat guests. The calamari was refreshing simply because it wasn't the typical lightly colored fry ring look you get everywhere these days. I ordered the spicy arrabbiata with scampi. I enjoyed everything about it - the mouthfeel of the pasta, the ratio of it to the sauce, the heat was just right, and the amount of shrimp was perfect. The food is barely 2 stars. The ambiance is 2 stars. The service is 3 stars. There's a bar area. But it's completely devoid of like anything. It's incredibly bland and generic in terms of ambiance / decor. And you can't order food at the bar. The seating area is dark and probably supposed to be romantic. But it's more like an undecorated old restaurant with dimmed way down lights. But it's not horribly unpleasant or anything. The server was very nice and attentive. So big pluses there. The wine list is pretty crappy. The house salad that comes with the pastas and entrees was basically a bunch of lettuce. The angel hair basil bolognese I ordered had neither basil nor bolognese. And while there were plenty of mushrooms, artichokes, and green peppers in it, they were of poor quality and weren't exactly cooked. I asked for a side of the meat sauce to see if that was any better. It did indeed look similar to the "bolognese" covering the angel hair pasta. Put it even more overwhelmingly tasted like icky Chef Boyardee from a can. The best thing at this point was actually the garlic bread that was brought out with the pasta. Far better than even the cheapo wine. Since I was still quite hungry (because I couldn't suffer through the icky pasta dish), I decided to take a gander at the dessert menu. I ordered the spumoni. Seemed safe. And hurray, the ice cream was filing and tasted normal. So in sum, if you actually want some decent pasta, don't come here. read more

Today I wanted a pizza from a local place that makes a top quality pizza. With the Covid 19 situation most places are currently pick up or delivery. Ordered up the large Chicken Supreme with the alfredo sauce. Delicious!! I was very happy with their timing and drive up pick up. I arrived 25 minutes later as advised and my pizza was hot and ready to go. Check out was quick. They have the Covid 19 take out down and I am glad to support this Anchorage Italian Icon. Their salads are simple yet so satisfying. I recommend their Caesar. They have a great selection of all the original Italian pasta dishes you could ever want and are always cooked to perfection. I recommend their Fettuccini Arrabbiata or Chicken Florentina. Their wine selection is small but wonderful. Great Offering of authentic Italian dishes on their menu. Everything tastes delicious...I always feel like I have a consistent spot for dinner that's quality you can taste. I don't mind spending a little more for quality food...go to order the stuffed mushrooms if you have to choose an appetizer, otherwise the mozzarella sticks are awesome with a home made marinara. Some Of my favorite dishes are the fettuccine di mare?(spicy version) with the scallops shrimp and halibut. ($27) otherwise the spaghetti carbonara is legit. Cream sauce isn't over powering but it does have that rich taste with the prosciutto. ($21) My kid loves the fettuccini. The arabiatta fettuccine has the right kick if you want a cream sauce that takes on a more savory taste. All dishes come with a nice sized side salad and garlic bread. read more
