    Rosa sauce

I had no idea what I was in for except, " Let's try something totally new!" If you're into the kind of spice that leaves dabs of sweat along your nose, this is the place for you. Thank you to the staff for helping us navigate the menu and the bar where you pick your own ingredients for them to cook. My dry hot pot featured the Mala pepper, and thank goodness I opted for no "tingly sauce" because even at a Level 2 Medium Heat, my tongue was burning. (I later learned that numbing tingling sauce was made from the...Szechuan pepper!) The place is new and clean. Several large groups come in so the ingredient and sauce bar gets a little backed up. Anyway, my pretty bowl came out and sat on a hot plate until the last bite. I survived...(dab, dab)

    Malatang, Rose Mala Xiang Guo

Went for dinner Sunday night and ordered the Malatang and Rose Mala Xiang Guo. There is a self service station with lots of variety of veggies, noodles, and other ingredients. The price is determined by the weight and I liked the ability to customize the ingredients. There is a range of spice level from 1 to 5 and we tried level 3 for the Malatang and 2 for the Rose Mala Xiang Guo. Surprisingly the Rose Mala Xiang Guo was spicier than the Malatang even though it had a lower spice level. I was expecting the Xiang Guo to be dry hot pot but it was very saucey. Both dishes were really good, especially with the ingredients soaking up the flavors. My favorite were the chewy, wide, glass noodles. The total came out to be $129 which is pricey in my opinion.

This is a build your own DIY spot, that charges based on the weight. My fiancé was bit by the mala bug and this has become our go-to spot. She always gets the malatang level 4 heat and I get the mala xiang level 3 heat. Her broth was pretty good from what I tasted but I enjoy the dry pot more. It has a good kick and balanced numbing spice. The dry pot packs a punch in terms of flavor over the broth version. We also got the chicken guobaorou and I'd skip it. Their sauce bar has a good variety of options. Space is small and service is minimal.

Such a great concept! Such a great service! And most importantly such great food!! I honestly had it only once last week but I crave it already! I want to go again asap! If youre reading this you should go now too!! If you are into spicy food i recommend that you get extra hot or more because I got hot and it was not spicy at all.. I love how all the ingredients are fresh and you are able to put as much things you want in your pot!

    Must get the cream shrimp!!!!!

Food is amazing if you need to let your stress out by eating something super spicy. After I was done, my stress was nonexistent! We got the level 2 and to our surprise, we were a bit struggling and will stick to level 1 next time so be cautious when choosing! I took a star off due to service. I know it just opened and I'm sure it'll improve but we were a bit lost just as much as the staff. When you first walk in, the sign states to take a seat so we did but no one came by so we went to ask. The staff didn't clarify that we need to select a seat, leave something behind to reserve it, grab a pot, and start grabbing the topping/ingredients. Did notice that after our mix up, staff clarified to other incoming customers. When asked about what some of their ingredients were, they didn't really understand and overall was hectic when checking out but know that they will weigh your bowl for the charge. Also, some of the ingredients are extra so those blocks that you pick up from the topping stations will add extra charges. Make sure you know what level and type of mala (dry or soup) and within dry option, they have other flavors to make it a quicker process. During check out, I tried to custom tip them but it would not work so ended up selecting one of the recommended options which I did not like. My husband had the same issues since we had two checks due to additional order being added later. The ingredient/topping station and sauce station is pretty small but sufficient to make your bowl of choice. I didn't initially know but since it's by weight, would grab more meat next time. I had selected dry rose mara and it was tasty, both from the flavor wise and spiciness. Also they give it to you with a burning candle to keep the dish warm as you eat it. Mara/hotpot craze is still big as there's been so many hotpot places opening in Atlanta. I would beat the rush hours, otherwise you'll be waiting quite a bit since the restaurant is pretty small with about 10 tables. Oh and the creamy shrimp was so so good! The texture is so good, being chewy in a good way, and the flavor was delicious! It also helped curve the crazy spiciness! A must get!

Came here for dinner around 6pm on a Thursday and there were a few tables already. After putting in our order, it got super busy and there were many people waiting outside. The ingredients station was pretty clean and everything was labeled. The sauce bar was pretty stocked but definitely a smaller station. Everything from plates, water and utensils are self service. We opted for the soup mala for about $15 per pound. We decided to go for the level 2 spice. The level 2 wasn't too spicy for me and I thought it was the perfect amount of spice. We also ordered the creamy shrimp guobaorou. They come and pour the cream at your table! I really enjoyed the chewiness and texture but didn't love some type of spice they put on top (Maybe parsley?), but that is just personal preference. Overall, I really liked the shrimp. It was $17 though, which I thought was a little steep for the amount you get. I enjoyed most of the ingredients in the mala (you choose yourself lol) but I didn't love the beef cuts that they had. After cooking it the ingredients, most of the beef slices were stuck together and were tough. Not your typical hotpot style beef slices. Other than that, they do have a wide range to choose from. We didn't wait too long for the food and the service was friendly. Definitely recommend coming early or when the hype dies down since they only have tables on one side of the restaurant.

    Cream Shrimp Guaobaorou ($17.99)

We got here around 5:30pm on a Monday to beat the crowd and there were about 4 tables seated. They have a sign above the ingredients to choose from that directs you on what to do. FOOD: Cream Shrimp Guaobaorou ($17.99) - I do think it's a little overpriced for what you get, but it was still tasty. They pour the cream sauce at the table for you. It's very creamy, sweet, with a hint of lemon so can't go wrong with this flavor combo. Malaxianguo - Level 1 ($21.92) - We opted for dry pot since we didn't want soup. Level 1 spicy was between Shin Ramen and Fire Noodles from my experience. You can also opt to not have the numbing peppercorns added so let them know if you don't like the tingly sensation! I enjoyed that you get to choose the ingredients you want and the price is determined by that. SERVICE: Getting the ingredients, utensils, and sauces are self-service, but they do bring the food out to you. They initially brought us the wrong one but it was corrected right away! It also looks like they have some kinks to work out in terms of communication with customers and staff, but I did see the owner/manager(?) explain the process to whoever looked confused. VIBE: It's a bit smaller than I was expecting since tables are only on one side of the restaurant, so I can see how it can feel crowded if there's a wait. I personally felt that the table where they have the sauces and bowls was very compressed. Only 2 people can really get ingredients and sauces at a time so not the most efficient layout. OVERALL: I would give it a 3.5 rounded up to a 4 since nothing was super outstanding but I do think I will crave it time to time. It's the only Korean-style Malatang place I know in Georgia as of now so I would give it a try if you like a more mild version of mala!

It's alright. I can't tell the difference between a Korean malatang and a Chinese malatang, which is the original one. The food choice is alright, nothing special, some regular stuff. They do look cleaner than some other malatang or hotpot places I've been to. The price is above average. They don't allow you to take food that worth less than $10, which means you HAVE to spend over $10 per person every time you come in. I don't like that. Btw, they charge for the rice. No service whatsoever as it is a help yourself restaurant, you take everything by yourself. The little stove under the pot they serve you is a joke. The only purpose of it is to keep your food not cold for about 1 min. After 1 min, the fuel runs out. It doesn't affect the food at all but I just feel like it's way too unnecessary with extra steps to have the same food. The malatang flavor is more authentic than some Chinese places surprisingly. Overall a 3.5 to me, I gave it a 4 because it's pretty clean inside and it matters a lot to me.

    Alexandria N.

A little bit more expensive than other malatang places but it's still so good! The broth is rich and flavorful, and they have a wide variety of ingredients to add inside. The spice levels get a little more serious here though. I tried the rose base and it was so spicy. If you're a weak spice person like me, definitely order on the more conservative side!

Self service area! Pick your ingredients
    Jevons L.

If you love "mala" (numbing spice) look no further and just get your pre-numbed mouth over here!! If you also love the fun of hot pot and picking ingredients, your adventure here starts with that! Pick your ingredients that you want and then pick your type of dish (there are 4 options and it's by the pound!) After weighing and paying they bring your dish over a fire and you get to dig in :)

Greetings received immediately upon arrival. First timers we're given instructions on how the concept works. Very friendly staff. You grab a bowl and collect your food ingredients including meat, vegetables then proceed to pay. There are different ways to cook your food and spicy levels as well. Self serve water and sauce station. Fresh ingredients including meats, fishballs, meatballs, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, lotus, bok choy, bean sprouts, fishcakes, and so much more. The concept is pretty cool. Ambiance is nice as well. Definitely will come back again! If you don't like spicy this might be a challenge.

This place is overpriced. I paid $14.99 before tax for less than half of the bowl of Rose Tteokbokki and it wasn't good. Not worth for 2nd try.

    Rose mala xiang
    Mio H.

I ordered the rose mala Xiang. It's a buffet style order where you grab a bowl and you put alllllll the stuff you want to be cooked in the rose mala sauce and the kitchen will cook it for you. They will charge you for the weight of the bowl. It was delicious and I enjoyed the warm dish especially on a cold evening. My favorite was the cheese filled toppoki and the glass flat Chinese noodles.
