Honestly I am so happy I found this gem today. This weekend I had a terrible experience with UV Gel nails from the salon that I normally go to. Literally my nails looked sloppy but I had no time to argue with the man. Fast forward, I really wanted to find a place to correct this situation. After reading reviews and realizing how close it was to my job, I called and got a 6:45 appt. I arrived a little early and they took me. Elena was AMAZING! Literally saved my nails and now I am so comfortable looking down at them. Lol thank you for getting together. I will definitely be back. New customer for sure! read more

Terrible $23 for a color change?!?! bye terrible i did a gel manicure 3 days ago 1st day one nail was already broken and i have strong nails so if there was a slit it was put there. Day 3 it peels half way never going here again no wonder nobody is ever there. read more

Horrible customer service. I sent an email 6sh in the a.m. requesting specific needs. I received a text within a few minutes saying "yes, no problem ". When I get to the salon the person that received my email and texted me in the a.m. had no clue what I requested. He just received an email and schedule an appointment without hesitation. When I got there I complained directly to the same person. He proceeded to roll his eyes, chuckled in my face and told me I could not get what I asked for. I was already getting my pedicure so I let the young lady complete the job. Poor job I might add.....I requested only using one nail tech and he refused to do this. To make matters worst he overcharged me $5 and then went tit for tat with me via text. Why is it so hard to find adequate customer service! DO NOT GO THERE! read more

Maria done my nails today she was very meticulous and beautiful. Pedicure was bit of higher than other salon but they have waxed on heel and hot stone. I will definitely visit on next time read more

My daughter and I received excellent service and wonderful pedicures here. The staff is extremely courteous and provided a wonderful pedicure. We will be back for sure!! read more

So now it's my 3rd time coming back after a while. I still love this place. Everyone here really is wonderful and nice. Thank you John (owner) for remembering me! Eun did my mani-pedi today. We didn't talk much, but the results were great. Word of advice though for people getting a pedicure that haven't been here, they massage your legs so the bottom of your pants have to go up like mid-calf. Well, I suggest if you want them to massage your legs that you shave. My goodness, I forgot I didn't shave my legs because of course the season is getting colder and it was so awkward. HAHA. I mean, I don't have HAIRY legs but I didn't shave. Anyways, that's my advice. I love coming here so this is my go-to spot for getting my nails done. A little sad that they don't do the Monday-Thursday $24/$27 Special for mani-pedi anymore. Now it's 10% off anything so it's $27 with cash or $30 with card. Either way, I still love coming here. read more

Probably the worst experience I have ever had. Firstly the temperature in this nail salon was freezing cold. The employees even had winter jackets on. Secondly, I went to Sophia Nail for a full set of nails, which I left with. After two of the nails fell off on my way home, I contacted the salon as I would not be able to return that day but needed to get them repaired. They said I could return within the week and they would repair the broken nails for free. I returned, had the broken nail repaired, left, when two more fell off on my way home. At this point I called the salon and voiced my concerns - I wanted the nails repaired but could not keep returning and was not sure what the problem was with the quality of the product they are using. The owner offered coming in the fix the nails as the only solution. I asked for a refund - two visits back for repairs due to their product is an EXTREME inconvenience and if they wanted to communicate any integrity in their product I felt they should have given me one. But they would not. I will not return here as that was a lot of wasted time and money. I would not recommend spending your money here. read more

Friendly and clean.. last minute pedicure. Color choice seems limited and charged extra for different brand or newer colors. My gal didn't speak English so we couldn't communicate but the owners were very good and jumped right in. read more

I've been to this nail salon in the past and wasn't thrilled with the results. I needed a manicure 911 so I went and to my surprise the establishment seemed to be under new management and new furniture! Yesss!! So I sat down and was assigned a nail technician who seemed a bit nervous. No matter the chair massaged me into relaxationville. I was however brought to reality when my nail technician used the pumice stone on the top part of my foot and scratch and cut me! After I brought her attention to my bleeding foot she hid my foot in the basin and washed the blood away. I told her o needed a bandaid since the bleeding wouldn't stop. She then told another tech who put something on the wound to stop the bleeding temporarily. She kept filing and didn't clean under my toenails and filed my nails at a strange angle. I asked her to fix it and when she couldn't she asked the tech next to her to do so. Which she did. She didn't turn my foot dryer on and didn't do the complementary massage. I was totally dissatisfied to say the least and demanded to speak to someone senior because I was not paying for this horrible service and injury. They called I guess the manager who was the only one who speak English. He proceeded to offer me (2) $3 off coupons to only be used on separate occasions as a compilation. I explained to him that these coupons that are offered to customers who leave good reviews are the equivalent of having a terrible experience and I told him I would not be returning. He stated he wouldn't be able to comp the whole cost but maybe half. I tried to stay calm to not deter other customers and calmly explained to him lose $20 today or much more because of my injury. Never will I return, which is a shame because I really wanted to like this place! I couldn't wear shoes comfortably for 3 weeks because the injury was located exactly where the shoe hits. HORRIBLE!! **RESPONSE TO MESSAGE FROM ESTABLISHMENT: I didn't pay and I didn't have an appointment so I'm not sure how my information would be in any record?! This was about a month ago so I'm not sure if anyone would notate this in any log. The facts still remain that I was injured in your establishment and the process to try to remedy a potential client was poor. And furthermore coming on my review to deny that this might've even happened is deplorable! read more

I recently moved from NY to NJ and was looking on yelp for a good nail salon in Teaneck or at least close to Teaneck. I came across Sophia Nail and read some pretty good reviews so I decided to give them a try. I made an appt on Yelp, which was super convenient... someone texted me back within a few mins. When I got there I found a parking lot around back, which was a plus. They had me seated right away even though I was a few mins early. Sandra gave a really good pedi which included what smelled like a lemon scrub, and even hot stones. Not sure if this is a norm in NJ but it def isn't in NY. She filed my nails almost perfectly and did a really good paint job. All for just a $20 pedi. Next she did my gel mani and I have no complaints either. When she was done she looked closely at each nail individually for any imperfections. That really had me because I think we ALL do his ourselves when they're done, but she showed me she wanted them perfect before I took a look at them for myself. The gel mani was a little more han I expect ($30) but $50 for a GOOD gel mani and pedi is pretty average. This was only my first visit but I will def be returning. read more

Kelly and her team did a fantastic job on my husband's paws, he loved his spa pedicure and manicure and dozed off at least twice. Anyone that can make this beast more human is a genius. My color gel manicure looks fantastic with no chips after a week. They even offer online appointments with text reminders and email! The owner John was patient with us even tho it took me half an hour to decide on a color. I can't wait to go back to pamper myself again, I might even bring my mother in law, god knows she's going to pester us on where we go for service. Look up sophia nail for your next service, you won't regret it! read more

The service here is amazing. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. The only thing I would say is that it's a bit overpriced and I had to ask my nail tech to fix a few mistakes on my gel mani after I was done, which doesn't bother me I'm not too picky or rude like that. Will probably go back. read more

Unfortunately, I will not return. I got gel manicure, my nails were not soaked, applying cuticle oil does not do the trick. When I asked Lisa to remove my cuticles, her attitude changed completely and she pushed them all back, after applying the primer, stating "no cuticles are better," well clearly, but they need to be removed. It has been a week plus one day and my nails are already chipped. read more

I initially gave Sophia Nails a great review, since that review however, I had a very disappointing experience that led me to find another salon. The prices seemed to fluctuate, and the service I received for $60,00, I was able toi find the same service at half the price elsewhere. I loved the people who did my manicure and pedicure, but the new management brought a different experience that is not top notch customer service. read more

I've been coming to this salon for several months now, but the last time was a true disappointment and I felt robbed and mistreated. Usually the nail technicians do a good job there, this time the tech applied too many coats and the gel started chipping off after just the first 2-3 days. I contacted them and they told me to come in for repairs. I did and they fixed one nail and just filed the other one. The same day the other nail started to have gel polish just peel off. It was after work hours at the time and living 30 miles from the salon that's close to my work, I naturally left to go home in that Friday night traffic. I asked for a refund or to completely redo my nails. And the owner kept telling me it's not an issue. They won't honor the refund and can only do repairs. So I was left over the weekend with a choice to either inconvenience myself and drive to them again 30 miles for them to repair it yet again, or do it locally. I even mentioned the yelp reviews, being the ground for my choice (the reviews are pretty good), to which the owner replied he gives Yelp reviews no credit as they are the result of the system they implemented to give their employees credit (what does that mean? Consumer fraud?!). Any small business should be ashamed of such practices. It's dishonorable and despicable. read more

I checked the website and it said walk ins welcome. I had a wedding to go to on Sunday. I drove there parked in a very strange parking lot, it looked like a bodega. I went in and the man asked me if I had an appointment I said no and that I just wanted a basic manicure and pedicure. The man said they were full (only three customers) and that I needed to book an appointment. Not going back there!!! read more

I wanted to 1st say that I was truly insulted today when I did a walk in appt! I was 1st told that it would be 5 min to get my nails done so I had a seat on the very old and dirty couch. Then the lead nail technician told me that someone will help me in a few and I was like thank you very much and I sat quietly on the dirty couch! The head nail tech spoke to a Spanish worker that stated she would be able to do my manicure however she was just staring at me from the back room. The worker had a white a black top and was looking at me and talking to other workers in the back. Then a man walked In the doors and he seem like he was the owners son or manager and he started talk to the lead nail technician and ignore the fact that I have been sitting there and there was workers in the back not wanting to work on my hands. After 20 minutes of getting ignore I spoke up and politely asked if someone was going to work on my hands. At this time the Spanish nail technician spoke to the main technician was still staring at me but was unwilling to work on my hands which was kind of strange. Finally the main head technician decided that she was gonna work on my hands however she stated that she has to charge me extra to remove 4 gel nail polish from my hands after I have been sitting in the salon getting refusal of service from the Spanish worker! DONT GO HERE THEY ARE VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE! THey discriminate based on what they see ! They don't know that I am a faithful customer and would have gotten all my services there but I just wanted to try them out 1st! I am going to just pray for them all for poor customer service for new clients! I will tell everyone not to go here on all my major social and networking sites ! read more

I love this place. Before I went to do my nails, I read reviews from this place. I must say, they met and exceeded my expectations. I went to this place for the first time to do my nail, the gel nail was done perfectly. I even cleaned, cook, scrubbed and do all sorts of household cleaning without any of the nails none the polish coming off. They were still shinning after all that work. Staff are professional and nice an know what they are doing. Highly recommended. read more

I got a UV gel full set done here and the day after I got my nails done one of the tips CRACKED in half. I did not do any hard labor nor did it get caught in anything so I was so confused as to why this happened. I have gotten UV done so many times and that has NEVER happened. Then a week later ANOTHER nail CRACKED. I am so upset. The price they charged me was far to expensive for such awful results. read more

Stopped in today as a first timer and was not disappointed. I got a gel pedicure & was charged only $40, which is great compared to other salons. The staff is very welcoming and polite. I highly recommend Sandra! She did an excellent job with my color gel pedicure. read more

This is by far the best nail place I've been to in northern NJ. John and Kelly, the owners, are incredibly attentive and the nail salon is always bright and very clean. All of the techs are accommodating and talented- my manicures always last almost 2 weeks with 7-day polish. It gets very busy on the weekends, but you can reserve appointments online to simplify the process. Great variety of colors, types of polish (gel, regular, 7-day, etc.) and prices are very fair. I have been coming here for almost a year and I wouldn't think of taking my business elsewhere. read more

I recently moved from the city to Hackensack and my daughter wanted to find a new nail place near our home. After doing some online research we found Sophia nail. I made an appointment online and John the owner texted me promptly to confirm my appointment. Sophia nail salon is amazing! They are open on Sunday!!! Thank you, John, Kelly, and Elena! read more

First timer at this nail salon today. I've been searching for a new nail salon in the area since the one I used to go to in Ramsey closed and was under new management. I made an appointment online, which was pretty nice and convenient, with Elena. The parking was a little tricky to get to, but once I got there I entered through the back entrance. As soon as I walked in, one of the nail techs, I think she was the manager, said my name! I didn't have to tell them I had an appt or anything which was nice. Another nail tech called me over to her station, but wasn't Elena. I was a little worried that it wasn't the one who I booked with but doesn't matter. I got my gel manicure done by Lisa who was very pleasant and really took her time to do my nails. I got a nice shoulder massage which was another plus. Bonus: Lisa also gave me a gift, which was a pink embroidered face towel that read Merry Christmas from Sophia Nail in a silver/white gift box--very cute and clever way to attract customers, I must say. I was impressed. Most definitely will be coming back here, especially since I live about 7 minutes away! Also, M-Thurs, if paying with cash you get 10% off fyi. Thanks Lisa!!! read more

I paid $48 for my nails yesterday & I really wasn't entirely happy with them but I could deal with it. They made me pay $2 for each nail I got "designed" I just got ombré glitter on 4 nails which looks different on each nail because the lady wasn't at all sure how to feather it & didn't get the hang of it until the 3rd nail. But even then I was fine until one day later when my nail broke off. I've gotten powder dip 3 times before & had pretty rough times without ever having breakage. Now it's been a week & the glitter is peeling off & my nails are chipping already. Again never had this happen with dip powder. I'm very disappointed & I will not be going back. I think one of the ladies was saying that the lady doing my nails used a bad #4 top coat & the lady doing my nails ignored her & that's why I think they lasted less than a week. I can't believe they made me pay for that especially since i brought 2 of my friends with me & gave them business. read more

I can't comment on the service itself as I was unable to be helped. I made an online appointment through there booking site and received confirmation. When I showed up for my appointment they said that I would have to wait 40 minutes to be helped. I made the appointment during my lunch break so that was obviously not possible. Thankfully there was a very nice salon down the street that was able to help me right away. read more

I absolutely love this salon. I finally feel like I found 'the one'. Kelly & John are so welcoming and nice! After not having a 'go to' spot I tried Sophia's out and loved it. I have not been to another salon since. Their staff is not only great at what they do but are so friendly and hilarious! Also, the prices are great. John offered me a cup of coffee when I told him I was tired; they are so accommodating. Aside from the fact that they want to please you with great service, they truly just try to make you comfortable. I took my daughter for a mani once and they were so patient with her! I have to say I love this place. Kelly and her staff are super friendly. I had a bad experience on my 4th time there but continued to go with a different tech of course. On two occasions the owners spouse John was pushing for future appointments not realizing that some people may not have a flexible schedule and/or things do arise when appointments arent kept. There's no need to get upset or continue to question it. An incident happened the other day that bothered me as a parent and customer. A child who happens to be a customer as well broke by accident the candy bowl and John's reaction was unacceptable. His faced turned red and his body language showed how mad he was. Its ok to get upset but to show it and tell the parent in front of other customers that she had to pay for it and charged $10 for the little bowl which you can get at the dollar store was uncalled for and unprofessional. It was an accident it could happen to even an adult. There is a way to communicate and that was a poor choice of behavior. read more
