Worst salon ever!!! If I could give 0 stars I'd do it. I regret so much going to this salon. A hispanic lady did my nail (I'm from Colombia so nothing against my community) she was not nice at all. You could tell she was pissed or having a bad day. I didn't feel comfortable at all. She was rushing so much to do my nails like less than 30 seconds on the UV LED nail lamp. I could tell they were not dried enough. I had to ask her to put more polish on my nails because they were very transparent and week (the only reason I do gel is bc I don't want my nails to break easily so gel keep them strong) so a total mess already. I knew was gonna be a disaster. She struggled so much to do my design (which is a pretty easy design) and at the end my nails just looked dirty and unfinished. On top of that she charged me 20 dollars more for that shitty design, ugh! And that's no even the worst. After a week the gel was destroyed. First time in my life since I have been doing gel that this happens. The polish just came out so easily. Like I just wasted my money for shitty nails that lasted less than a week

Julianna is absolutely amazing! I went and asking for a Russian manicure, and although they do not do those, she reassured me that she would do a very beautiful job. I was a little hesitant, but also willing. When she started working on my nails, they were super short, but she was able to push back and make them look absolutely beautiful and much longer. She did a gel x top coat so my nails can get stronger. The price is a little bit more compared to the competitors in this area, but absolutely worth every penny. The nail salon does not have a strong smell at all and feels very clean. Julianna is literally my new go to person.

I came in for an Ombre French gel manicure ($50). At first, the ombre was not blended at all and you could clearly see sponge marks. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the first attempt because it made me sad to look at . Prior to the start of the service I showed a reference picture of what I wanted. However, what I received was far from what I wanted. I spoke to what seemed to be someone in charge and asked if there was anything that could be done to fix it because it was not what I had asked for. He was super nice about it and said yes it could be fixed and placed with a new lady right away without any drama. The new manicurist removed the prior work, and worked diligently to fix my nails. The new ombre was perfectly blended and looked very clean (pictures attached). Service was great! The woman who did my nails the first time was also nice and the manicure part was perfect. It seemed that ombre might not be something she was used to doing. The salon was also super clean and they sprayed and wipe down seats after clients were done. I would return

So, I used to go to Nail Pro in Riveredge faithfully and I LOVE the staff and the salon but the truth is they don't have a good variety of gel nail colors. So I yelped other nail salons and came across Sophia Nail. OMG. I wish I found out about this place earlier. First off. They have A HUGE variety of gel nail colors! Neons, nudes, and everything in between. They also have BRAND NEW massage chairs. So comfortable. From Mon-Thurs they have deals on regular mani+pedis and gel mani+pedis (and a few dollars off if you pay in cash, check out the pictures I posted for y'all!!!) So with the pedicure they put special salts in the pedicure water that conditions your skin, and you can pick between the Tropical or Grapefruit flavor!! I picked the Grapefruit!! It was awesome. A regular pedicure also includes a hot stone leg massage and paraffin soak for smooth heels. It was absolutely amazing!!!!!!! Sandra was my nail tech. She is awesome!!!! You have to go here!! The entire staff is super friendly and the salon is spotless. Don't worry about parking, they have a private lot in back of the salon!!! P.S. - FUN FACT!!! The salon is named after the owners 9 year old daughter, Sophia!!! I love it!!!

I'm happy I came across this nail salon. I booked online and parked in the back. I came in with a picture and they knew exactly what to do. I paid $95 for this set. I scheduled a pedicure for the next time I come in. I love my nails. I also got my eyebrows waxed and they turned out amazing .

I made an appointment and came in on a Saturday for a Gel Manicure. My nail tech had headphones on and was on the phone while she was doing my nails. Although she was nice, I had to ask her to file my nails straight (she confirmed that I wanted square) because they were crooked and uneven. She did not know how to cut cuticles and pretty much cut all of the skin outside the cuticle. To make matters worse on Sunday I noticed my index finger nail was already broken (I have very thick nails, rarely break) so I glued it. Today is Wednesday, 4 days later and it completely broke. I went back and explained that had the nails been filed evenly and properly I wouldn't have had this issue. They "fixed it" by creating a new nail that doesn't match the rest in size or color and had the audacity to charge me $8 for it. The prices here are regular to pricey but the value and quality are not there. Update: exactly 7 days have passed since my original manicure and another 2 nails have broken. So so disappointed and what a waste.

I recently moved into the neighborhood and found Sophia Nails, I've been twice for a fill and paid $55 the first time for acrylic fill in with gel color and thought that was a great price considering I normally get my nails done in Brooklyn and wouldn't have to commute. I just went for a full set and they charged me $95 for a FULL SET!!! With gel color!! I didn't even think to check the price board because who would ever think a regular nail salon would ever charge that price. I got a solid gel color. That price is disrespectful, unheard of, and does not match their services. I've gotten my nails done at several different locations in NJ / NY over the past 10 years and never paid such a price for nails. I feel robbed. $95 is what you pay for a nail tech to deck out your nails and put crazy designs, NOT A SIMPLE NATURAL COLOR!!!!

So glad I found this spot! I recently moved to the area and although I love my previous nail tech, I really needed one closer to home. After searching online I decided to try Sophia Nail based on the great reviews. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease with which I was able to schedule my services on their website. The gentleman that runs Sophia, John, is diligent and very accommodating. I've been there twice now and had a great experience with both of the technicians that did my acrylic refills (Elena and Lisa). Johanna does a beautiful pedicure and gives an awesome foot massage which is an excellent value for $10 more. I also love their spa chairs with massage and whatever it is they soak your heels in is amazing to soften cracked or dry skin. Sophia Nail is a great value and a touch above the rest in service, attention and quality. It's definitely my new go-to spot. ***The attached picture is what my nails look like with clear polish only, 10 days after Elena did my nails last. I removed the color today (myself) and really liked how they looked bare with no color. There's a secret to how she mixes acrylic and it looks amazing all by itself.

This Nail Salon has such a wonderful atmosphere, all of the workers are so kind and so helpful! They're polite and take their time to make sure they do your nails how you want them. I had gotten acrylic nails and the Technician, Elena, made sure to ask me questions of my preference and if everything was to my liking. My nails were even and cleaned up, And I left satisfied. I also saw how friendly everyone was to every customer that walked in, no matter the request! Will definitely come again.

Just wanted to thank John & the ladies @ Sophia Nail Salon again.. Got another set of dark blue glitter gels Saturday AM they came out awesome !! I thought they were a little dark at first but as it turns out, they were killer.. Inside they look like a dark ink blue & you cant even see the glitter, but go outside & the sun or bright light hits them & bam !!! They glow !!! Thank you ladies & gentlemen again... read more

This was a last minute decision and after reading the reviews, I wanted to give this place a try. Most places in Hackensack have more negative reviews. It was around 11:30am on a Thursday; very quiet and no wait. My nail tech was very thorough and kept my nails clean. The hand massage could have been better, but she was great nonetheless. Also, if you pay with cash, they discount 10% Mon-Thurs. only. It's been a week and they're still in tact. :) Would recommend and will def. visit again. Clean but tight space by manicure area (narrow and long towards the back). Parking can be challenging, but there's street parking on Fairmount Ave. - easy access to Sophia's. read more

Followed the other yelpers here but couldn't be more disappointed! Both waxing and nails!! Waxing: Got an eyebrow+lip wax and the woman that was doing it wasn't ripping the strip off at once! I figured she knew what she was doing so I let her go to see how it would go - let me tell you, it didn't go so well!! In 20 years, I've never had anyone attempt such an asinine way of waxing. And for good reason. It is a horrible experience and doesn't remove anything! To those of you who like that sort of thing - kudos to you. Finally asked for the manager to come in and finish the wax because it was so horrible (the job that was done and the experience). She ended up re-doing everything the first woman did and making my skin extra sensitive on my brows as a result. Nails: Got a gel manicure that looked decent when I left the chair but literally the next day the nail started peeling. In 3 days, all the gel manicure had chipped and peeled off in its entirety! What a waste of $60. Will NOT be going back here again. Didn't bother to call the salon. I never do. If they are so horrible at doing your nails the first time, what makes you think they can do a good job the second time around... read more

The pedicures here are awesome! There's about 6 different spa pedicures you can ask for that can amount to +$60. I've only gotten regular pedicures but they are way too special to be referred to as "regular." They're not your average 30minute pedicures. My heels are the worst, callused and gross, but by the time I leave this place they're super soft and smooth! I also called here once to try to get an appointment but hung up bc I called before their opening time of 9am. I decided to walk in and see if I can get seated in a reasonable wait time (which I did). And as soon as I sat down, I get a text from this place saying "sorry we missed your call, how can we help you today?" How adorable is that?!? . They're so nice here too, always smiling. I'm guessing the male figure here is the owner and he's super nice! You also get a nice little discount if you pay in cash! read more

The good: Excellent COVID-19 salon precautions and standards. Temperatures are taken with infrared thermometers, guests are given hand sanitizer before sitting down at a station, everyone is socially distanced in masks, and pedicure chairs are separated with clear liner curtains. There are a lot of nail polishes, gel and regular. The bad: It's USD $70 for a full acrylic set! I was SHOCKED. I booked online as a first time visitor, which is convenient, but the prices were not listed for acrylics. It felt like a bait-and-switch after services rendered. The price for Full Acrylic Set on the services board in person is even a smaller font than the other services -- very easy to miss when walking in, before your appointment takes place. Pedicures are reasonably priced at $40, and this price is published on the booking platform as well as in a large type in person on the services menu board. There are, of course, no refunds and no exchanges. My tech pushed me for the first 15 minutes of the appointment to upsell to a UV Gel set (just not my thing, and more expensive than acrylics generally): saying acrylics are bad for your natural nails, give you fungus, etc. In short, scare tactics to pressure me and upsell me into a more pricey service. My nails are fine, not terrible, but not stellar either. The acrylic came out a little thick, and because I refused the UV Gel set in the beginning, it felt like my technician filed very aggressively in retaliation. My cuticle area on both hands is pretty raw from fast and sloppy filing with a coarse board. Overall, MOST DEFINITELY not worth the price. Will not return. read more

Updated Review: After 2 hours of posting my review, I received a text from the owner asking to come back to repaint my nails. I wasn't expecting that at all. I thought it was a very nice gesture that they wanted me to come back for a redo. Although I told them I couldn't come back anytime this week due to a busy schedule, I appreciated that they cared about wanting me to have a good experience at their salon. I've been wanting to try a new nail salon for a while now, and I came across this place on yelp. It looked pretty nice based on the pics, and it was pretty close to my house. I booked an appointment through yelp and I got a response immediately. That was a plus for me. I arrive 10 minutes before my appointment, and I think it was the owner (Kelly) took me right away and got me started, while the nail tech I was going to see was finishing up on someone. I wanted to like this place but maybe it was the tech that I had. I felt as if she rushed my gel manicure. I had also asked her to push back my cuticles, and she just quickly ran through them, not taking her time. Her desk area was also dirty. She didn't clean up her desk after she finished with the previous customer. There were still nail dust from filing her nails. All the nail tech did was place a paper towel on top of it. That did not seem sanitary to me at all. By the time she finished polishing my nails, they just looked OK. I wasn't impressed by it. They looked kinda messy with nail polish around the edges of my nails. And I thought there'd be at least a complimentary back massage while I waited for my nails to dry (which usually happens at other salons), but nothing. I don't know if I'd come back to this place again. Maybe if I had another nail technician. Their prices are pretty good though: Monday - Thursday: $24 if paid in cash for Color Gel, or $27 if paid by credit card for Color Gel. read more

Came into this place today. By far one of the friendliest and welcoming nails salons I've been to. They were very accommodating and had a lot of patience with me. I had Patricia and Grace work on my mani and pedi. Both lovely ladies. And the guy who runs this place is also great. Helped me find matching colors and was a sweetheart. Sophia Nail was was fast when I booked my appointment through Yelp today. At first I wasn't sure who was going to be doing my nails, I had Lisa working on my gel manicure after she waxed a very rude and impatient guy that walked after me with no appointment, but other than that Lisa did a great job on my nails . Went to this salon for the first time and it was an amazing first experience! The staff is all very welcoming and treats you like an old friend. Everyone gets their individually deserved attention, the environment is clean and classy. The prices are very reasonable, and there is even a special for monday & thursday (I went on a monday). I got a mani&pedi and this is definitely going to be my new go to place for times I want to pamper myself i.e durring exams. Beautiful salon. Very clean. I watched the pedicure chairs having the foot tub soaked with bleach and the chair itself sprayed and wiped down with disinfectant while I was sitting there. So I can attest to the cleanliness! I got a gel pedicure. It came out great ! My only negative is I paid extra for a spa pedicure and I don't feel it was a big enough difference from the regular pedicure to justify the price. read more

I am so glad I found this place on Yelp and went to get a manicure and pedicure. The place is very friendly, everyone was so nice and talkative. I love that for the pedicure the creams, salts they massage and put on your legs. As well as the parafine for smooth heels. Best nail salon ever! Everyone here is so friendly, polite, and patient. They are very accommodating. Monday thru Thursday they have specials of Color Gel Manicure + Regular Pedicure for $40. M-Th regular mani/pedi special is $25. Everything is very clean here. One of the best feelings ever is the feels of a fresh manicure and pedicure, and the results of how you like it. NOTE: I'm not revealing nail tech names to protect them. I came here with an open mind and open heart thinking that I would get the best experience ever. Well, I actually did! The nail tech that took care of me was so kind and sweet, and I never felt like she was in a rush. She made sure to relax me during my pedicure, and when it came to my hands she was extremely meticulous and cautious! She was focused the entire time and thanks to that I never got hurt. In the end, my nails looked beautiful and I am very satisfied. You may be wondering why I'm giving this place three stars, my nails looked great right? What caught me off guard is how the owners/manager treated their staff. For my nail design, I wanted to get some embellishments, but decided not to because I felt it was going to be too expensive for me. But my nail tech was so sweet and considerate that she hand picked a few little dots from a glittery polish so that I could have something similar. Mind you, I didn't ask her to do this for me! When it came to paying, the owner didn't look so happy that I "got around" paying the 15$, and decided to tack on 5$ extra to my bill. I explain that this extra little design on the one finger is gel, but in the end I'm still charged the extra 5$. I pay it, I tip the wonderful woman, and as I'm leaving I hear him say "when you're done, can I have a word with you?". When I heard that, my entire opinion changed of this place. I feel so bad that a kind gesture turned into an innocent women getting in trouble. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be coming back. The only reason why I would come back is because of that nail tech. Side note, I booked an appointment online and you receive a receipt confirming the amount of your nails, but on THAT there's no additional charge of 5$. Something is extremely fishy and I didn't appreciate it. So just stay mindful of when you visit. read more

So I moved to Jersey about 6 months ago, and my biggest problem was finding a nail salon that i liked. I really would travel back to ny every two weeks to do my nails. Im so glad i came to Sophie's Nails, no more traveling to NY every other weekend. Everyone was exceptionally nice, especially Diana who did my pedicure. I will definitely be coming back! Had the worst experience today . The new nail technicians are not very experienced. They can't do simple designs and try to rush their job especially when there is no management supervision. I ended up leaving without my nails getting done. So disappointed because I have an important event this weekend for Mother's Day and now I have to try to find another place to do my nails last minute. I have been coming here for the past year. I've been disappointed with the quality of work a few times already but today was just the breaking point. Time to find a new nail salon. read more

By far the worst nail salon I have ever been too, which is unfortunate because the guy at the front desk is extreme nice and lee is great at waxing. As far as nails go I had a terrible experience. I got the dip powder and Lee never put me under the uv light, my nail broke the day I got it done. I had to go back and get it fixed; 4 days later and now 3 nails have broken. My daughter introduced me to this place when we moved to this area about a year and half ago. I have my regular nail salon/lady that I go to so I was comparing this nail salon to my regular one during my initial visit. I wasn't impressed then with the lady who did my nails. The owner was very nice though,, and I went back to my old nail salon. I went back with my daughter recently because it was the only place open on a Sunday. I'm glad i did! The lady who did my nails was so good and accommodating, my nails turned out so nice! It changed my view of the place. This would be my new go-to nail salon now. read more

I absolutely love Sophia nail. I Usually get a full set with Kelly or Elena, but have seen every member on the staff for either a pedicure or another service. They are always friendly and inviting and the Salon itself is super clean. I always leave happy and I am constantly updated on new things trending with nails. Their prices are more than reasonable considering the attention to detail and the end results to my service. Even when my acrylic isn't on my nails, my nails are left super strong because of the care that goes into applying them. After too many bad experiences and damaged nails from other salons I'm so happy I found someplace that actually cares. I've never been the type to stick to one nail salon but this place is my getaway from home. In a society where customers get treated like they're disposal this place is far from that. The owners exude nothing but kindness and attention to detail. This nail salon is clean and well ventilated and provides parking in the back. The whole staff is lovely. read more

Honestly I am so happy I found this gem today. This weekend I had a terrible experience with UV Gel nails from the salon that I normally go to. Literally my nails looked sloppy but I had no time to argue with the man. Fast forward, I really wanted to find a place to correct this situation. After reading reviews and realizing how close it was to my job, I called and got a 6:45 appt. I arrived a little early and they took me. Elena was AMAZING! Literally saved my nails and now I am so comfortable looking down at them. Lol thank you for getting together. I will definitely be back. New customer for sure! read more

Horrible customer service. I sent an email 6sh in the a.m. requesting specific needs. I received a text within a few minutes saying "yes, no problem ". When I get to the salon the person that received my email and texted me in the a.m. had no clue what I requested. He just received an email and schedule an appointment without hesitation. When I got there I complained directly to the same person. He proceeded to roll his eyes, chuckled in my face and told me I could not get what I asked for. I was already getting my pedicure so I let the young lady complete the job. Poor job I might add.....I requested only using one nail tech and he refused to do this. To make matters worst he overcharged me $5 and then went tit for tat with me via text. Why is it so hard to find adequate customer service! DO NOT GO THERE! read more

Terrible $23 for a color change?!?! bye terrible i did a gel manicure 3 days ago 1st day one nail was already broken and i have strong nails so if there was a slit it was put there. Day 3 it peels half way never going here again no wonder nobody is ever there. read more

I arrived at 12:30 PM and was met with a very unfriendly attitude from the owner--she gave me a very angry look and was not welcoming at all, even though I apologized for being late. She said she would fit me in between clients, and I accepted that. Monica, my hairdresser, asked the owner for the formula for my hair color and went to the back. When she applied the color, my scalp started to burn badly. I told Monica, and she said it would go away, but I had never experienced that kind of burning before. To make things worse, the final color was completely wrong--much darker than the chocolate shade I usually get. My scalp was extremely dry and irritated afterward. During the hair wash, water ran down my back and left me soaked. I was supposed to get a blow-dry, but instead, she sat me under a dryer and said it would help because my hair was long. But it was obvious she did this just to take another client. After waiting too long, I had to leave without my hair properly finished. The entire experience was unprofessional, rushed, and uncomfortable. I felt like Monica had to follow whatever the owner said, and there was no concern for my comfort or satisfaction. Very poor service--I will not be returning.

Meanwhile, her actual work was spotty, inconsistent, and patchy since she wasn't paying attention to what she was doing, as she was too distracted by her own stories the entire time to focus on me. I knew the results would be mediocre, incomplete, and not good enough -- and unfortunately, I was right. When I got home, I looked more closely at my legs. I saw that my thighs hadn't been touched, and my calves were a hit or miss. Considering the price, the overall vibe, and feeling obligated to tip Isis 20%, it was a waste of my time and money. Isis is rough, and rough around the edges. She is immature and inexperienced. She told me she'd *just* graduated from beauty school, and it shows. She lacks social skills, professionalism, emotional IQ, and waxing expertise. Her touch is heavy-handed, and the way she spreads the wax (I've done this professionally for years myself) is thick, clunky, and hard. So by the time she pulls it off, it's unnecessarily uncomfortable. I take no pleasure leaving such a negative review. But she was awful and I'm sad I have to go elsewhere now.

You can book online and choose from a lot of time slots. I was able to make an appointment the day of and booked a Brazilian wax ($65). Service was great from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. The waiting area is SUPER CUTE and a pink lover's dream. Alexis was my esthetician, and she made my experience as comfortable as possible. Let's be real... getting your lady bits waxed isn't exactly the best feeling on Earth. I got these done ahead of time for a vacation, and I'm really glad I didn't get them closer to leaving. If you have lighter hair, I wouldn't recommend getting your brows tinted here.
