This place discriminates people. Will only take rich white people. I am Latino and a paying customer I was asked to wait 20 minutes for my service. The manager kept making phone appointments and accepting more clients on the same day. Clients were told to come in right away. Yet I was waiting with a friend for over 25 minutes. I was refused service and told that the employees which are from Central America refused me service. I can't understand I was very polite waiting. So its been a week since I got a gel manicure and a pedicure from The Nails and I must say they did a really good job. I wanted to give it a week before I wrote my review to tell my fellow nail fanatics how they held up. Lets start on how I found this location. My nail salon wasn't able to take me that day because the girl I get wasn't in so I asked if they would honor the $40 deal if I got my pedicure done that day and came back the following day when my nail lady was there. They said they wouldn't honor it even after me being a loyal customer to them for over a year now so I said no problem I'll take my business elsewhere. I looked on yelp for a nail salon near where I work and The Nails popped up along with many others, but this location stood out to me from the rest and I decided to give it a go. I called and made my appointment and arrived promptly. As soon as I walked into the salon I could tell I was in a very upscale salon. The place was spotless, all tools were sterilized and individually wrapped as they took them out of the sanitation station. There was a woman named Lorena prepping my pedicure station as I arrived, I picked out a color from there large selection of Essie and OPI products and sat down. The chair was really nice and comfy with the massage settings on. Lorena took her time with my pedicure I didn't feel rushed at all and we had a nice conversation. As I was getting the pedicure another woman came over and started to soak off my gels on my nails. I really hate the process of soaking them off in those little foil finger wraps so it was nice to have them done the same time as my pedicure to get a head start. Once my pedicure was done I sat down at another station where we started to take off my previous gels and pick out a color. They had a great selection to pick from and I ended up picking a light baby pink. While looking at the color swatches I noticed they do gem accents on nails and asked my nail lady about it and the options. We first thought it would be cool to bling out my entire finger but half way thru I think she could tell I wasn't into it and took them off with no hesitation or attitude which is very hard to come by. We came up with a really cute design that I fell in love with. Now my nails are a week old and are holding up so well! Only one of my gems fell off but I am also very rough with my hands to this is great for me. Other times I have gotten gem accents they never made it past the one week point. Overall I am so happy with this salon and have been recommending it to all my friends and co workers even customers at my job are asking where I get my nails done. Can't wait to come back! read more

Solid nail salon at a decent price. Just got my nails done by Monica and pedicure by the guy there. It was efficient and solid. I decided to go from square tip to rounded on a whim. No reason why. I just had square tip for two decades. Lol. But I was trying a new salon in my area. And went with my whim. I actually loved how it turned out. And for the price and speed, I'd come again. (They aren't as meticulous as my normal nail tech. But the price differential for the level I normally get is huge. And my other nail tech takes hours.) But for quick and easy and solid. Got powder nails done - took over an hour. I have gotten the powder nails done at many locations and the maximum time the soaking has taken is 15 minutes. Took about 25 minutes for her to get my powder off. Then, she only dipped one hand once and the other twice -- when every other salon dips 3x to ensure a long last. Finally, she painted a normal top coat onto the powder -- which dried sloppily -- when every other salon has used a dip powder top coat. I have never had dip powder last less than 1 week. My first nail chipped within 3 days and i had an entire nail chip off by 1 week. Absolutely horrible quality for the price I paid. read more

When family business took me to Englewood yesterday, I checked Yelp for possibilities. Selected this one for the number of stars and reviews that mentioned 'clean' and got a next-day appointment. Decided to give them a try since I'm new to the area. The lady sitting at the front did my nails. I assume she's a manager/owner since she was answering the phone and booking appointments. Anyway, I've never had such an uncomfortable experience at a nail salon. For starters she was extremely rough! She filed my nails so aggressively that my finger actually started bleeding! To make matters worse she rushed my service as if she had a line of people waiting! Maybe if she took her time I wouldn't have gotten cut. Overall the gel manicure was ok, however she got gel on my skin. To top it all off we were going to pay with a card and she hackled us for a tip! She took the card and continued to state that we can add our tip on the card. I decided to look through my purse for cash to tip and she waited and watched me as if a tip was mandated! What a ridiculous experience!!! Went on Saturday to get a full set of tips put on and a gel manicure for a wedding. I explained this to the woman Monica when I entered. I believe she is the manager. She sent me to an open table where KAY did my nails. She buffed and cut them and then pulled out the gel color. I stopped her and said "Wait I'm getting tips first". She said "yes we do that after." I was very confused. I said again "the tips go on before the color." She stated again it would be after. I said "let me get this straight. You're gunna paint my nails first and then put tips on?" This KAY paints them blue and smudges a little white on the end and says done! I wish I took a picture. My ten year old niece could've done them better. So I ask how the tips can go on now and she looks confused. Her English was not good. So I call the manager over and explain. She tells Kay in their language and Kay starts getting all mad at me saying "you never said extensions!" I'm like wtf is this a hair salon?? Who says I want nail extensions?? She starts huffing and puffing all mad that she had to remove the gel color to start over. Never apologizes. Then says she won't re do them and sends me to the manager Monica who politely apologizes and does them perfectly! I was there over 3 hours. They wouldn't give a discount after all that. I live in Manhattan and have been looking for a clean salon with fair prices for almost two years. Upon recommendation of a friend, I decided to check out nail places in Englewood. This is the first I've been to one and it did not disappoint! I walked in on Friday morning and was sat immediately. The place is very clean and quite relaxing. Hannah, who did my nails, was very nice, and both efficient and detailed. She asked all the right questions including how long I wanted my nails, shape, etc. and periodically checked in to see how I liked them. I had acrylic nails, and switched to gel during my visit. The total cost was $50, which to me is very reasonable! They also have a membership card which I believe gives you 10% off if you pay cash, and 5% if you pay card for regular services. I'll definitely be back and recommend Hannah and the shop for anyone looking for great nails/services. read more

I went to check out this salon because it had recently opened and they're offering 40% off all services as a Grand Opening promotion. My sister and I went in and there was only 3 employees all working on someone. When we asked the wait she said soon, soon. After 10 minutes a woman approached us and asked what we needed done. I needed a Full UV Gel Set with color gel as the polish color. This is not my first time in a salon, or requesting this service. She spent 10 more minutes attempting to figure out how much it would be to have my services done and she persisted to ask why I wanted the color gel as the polish and not just regular polish. After an hour and a half having my nails done it was time to pay and the prices were different than I was told when I had walked in. Needless to say, my nails fell off a week later; they're suppose to last AT LEAST two weeks. For the same price I paid here (which is there 40% off mind you), I can get the same services including a free pedicure at a place closer to home. read more

The manager did my gel manicure and left bubbles and a piece of stray hair in my nails. She pretended to be blind to it and I had to ask her multiple times to fix it. She also filled my skin like it was a block of cheese with the nail file while she did my nails thus leaving one of my fingers bruised by the nail. It was a busy Sunday afternoon but that's no excuse for the poor customer service and lack of an apology when I told her TWICE that she had hurt me. Never again am I returning back to this place. Very nice place the first couple of times. But, last week I got a gel manicure, first of all The lady filed nails, instead of raking off the leftover gel with acetone. Which made my nails extremely thin, so my manicure didn't last a week and my nails started to break. Very disappointed, also felt rush, because after she filed my nails I learned that she had a customer coming after me. And than when it was tome for me to pay, she did not hand me my change back, she looked at me and pointed at herself and the lady that did my pedicure, letting me know that they were going to split the tip. I came here today and the moment Monica left, the woman doing my nails started giving me an attitude and stopped caring about what I was asking for. I had to tell her three times how to shape my nails and I had to draw a picture. Not only this but she kept giving me the wrong color polish when I kept asking for white, just a plain solid white color. Her and the woman, Kay, next to her kept bringing me different shades of clear see through white and just kept telling me it would get darker when it dries. Was Verrrry dissapointed and more than once ! I live in the Brownstone complex , so it is very convenient to just walk over to the nail salon . After having a full set of tips done three times there at $90.00 each time (plus a 20% tip) I am more than sure that I need to get in my car and drive to another salon where my tips don't fall off after 3 days. The owner offered to fix both nails that fell off, but since this was a recurring issue I asked for a refund instead. I did not want to spend anymore time there. After explaining that this was not my first bad experience there and that I would need to go to another salon to have missing nails replaced She asked me if I wanted a full refund, and I told her to give me what she thought was fair. I was given back $45.00 Just to follow up , a few days later three more nails broke off, while doing dishes , opening a door and eating dinner. The first two fell off while eating breakfast. I went back and this time asked for a full refund. The owner Monica was irate when I asked for the balance . Her response was that 5 nails were still on . Really ? She then blamed it on the fact that I went on vacation ???? What?? Then said that she sees me walking " two big dogs" first, they are PUGS and second, I don't walk them with my nail tips and besides, that is not when they broke. She was banging on the counter and yelling at me. She wanted to fix them . So , I told her that I did not want to have them done again , I don't have the time to keep coming back , I would just like a refund. Why would I spend that time having them done over, only to have them break off again. She then wanted me to sit down and have her take off the 5 remaining nails to get full amount back. Her anger was so much out of control that she took the money out of the drawer and said, "I don't need your money " and threw it over the counter onto the floor and at my feet. I told her that what she did was very rude. I don't feel it is fair to sit the first time for a complete set and within a week have to go back five more times.
