The owners of Karma built their business on the novel idea of creating a space that was safe for pregnant women, children, and those sensitive to allergies by using polishes and removers that didn't have traditional salon chemicals. To be fair, I have no idea what makes up their nail polishes, but I appreciate how it always smells like faint lavender instead of polishes whenever I come. Appointments are highly recommended, and I've never had to wait long before I was seen. I've now visited a fair number of times and noticed that the quality of the job really depends on who's doing it. One woman is painstaking and focused, creating beautifully shaped nails. Another woman seemed to work fast, which made for one irregularly shaped nail and polish that didn't quite make it to the nail bed. But the service is always friendly, and the vibes are always calm and quiet. On my first visit, I was given a discount card for a return visit, which was a nice touch. You won't find the fancy frills like massage chairs and jacuzzi tubs for pedicures, but a basic mani pedi service is $55, which I deem fair, especially considering I never have to endure a post-spa headache from breathing in fumes.. Finding parking can be a beast of a job in this area. It's paid street parking only (through the ParkMobile app), and spots can be limited depending on the time of day because of how many businesses are in the area. You might have to circle a few times, but I've since learned to include at least a five to ten minute time cushion when booking appointments just to look for parking.

I waited 20 minutes for my service to start and then in between a pedicure and manicure I was made to wait twice...10 mints each time so she could finish someone else up. But time came, present day, and I needed the convenience of location so I booked an appointment, which can now only be done online. I booked an appt with Etelvina for Mani and Callus Pedi. I arrived at my appt and was escorted to the back where I recognized no one. The young woman asked a lady at one of the pedi bowls to take me, I quickly let her know I have an appt with Etelvina and it was at that moment she says, "management changed and they are no longer with them." I asked, "when did that happen," woman replies, "yesterday." GTFOH -- I told her, Nobody called to inform me (the customer) that this occurred and give me the option of cancelling or keeping the appt. If I wasnt in such dire need I would have left, which I ended up doing when it came time for the manicure. I was sat at a table with a tray of used tools and nail dust all over. When the woman proceeded to use them of me, abruptly I asked "are those sanitized!" She looked at me like she didn't understand what I was saying; in Korean they must of said something because the front desk lady came over and tried to convince me they were sanitized. Yeah no...I don't think so. They make you keep a mask on, but will use dirty tools used on everybody. Not I. Today was my last visit, emergency or other. Today should have been day 7, and all of my gel nail polish has peeled right off! WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. I don't normally post my feet pics publicly, but this pedicure experience was so upsetting I feel…read morelike I have to share it. This was my third visit to this salon -- the first two were pleasant, which is why I came back. Unfortunately, this time was a huge disappointment. I got a pedicure and paid in full, tipping Jackie 20%. Afterward, I noticed a few of my nails were cut crooked and most of the polish was bubbling. A little bubbling is whatever -- but crooked nails are not. My toenails grow out slowly, so this really matters. Jackie didn't even ask if I wanted them cut square or round, but I certainly wasn't looking for a trapezoid shape. I brought this up to one of the workers and asked what we could do other than redoing it immediately -- I was already late for work after spending almost an hour there. She just said, "Your nails look fine to me, what do you want me to do?" Then, "Okay, I'll file them, but your nails are short already." I get that English might not be their first language, but the attitude was rude and dismissive. I wasn't even demanding a fix on the spot -- I just asked if I could come back the next morning. She rolled her eyes but finally agreed. Later, I realized I didn't trust them to fix it without cutting my nails even shorter -- they were already so short the skin of my nail plate was exposed (see pic). So I called to ask for a partial refund instead. The manager got on the phone and threatened to call the cops and said she'd post my picture on their website. I told her, "Please, go ahead -- I paid in full and tipped 20%." Then she backtracked and said I could come back to get it fixed. But no. The very least they could have done was apologize -- which never happened. Things might have gone differently if they'd just said sorry and shown a little respect. This was hands down the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. Lesson learned -- I'll stick to the places I've trusted for years. If you're the manager reading this, at least give me my 20% tip back. I'm paying someone else to fix your mess and there's no fixing the way you threatened me. Call the cops if you want, I'd love to see how that goes.

I took one star off because the driers were not in use and they said it is due to the pandemic. Needless to say that even after waiting about twenty minutes and wrapping my feet in Sarran wrap, my nails still got smudged. I think if they are not going to allow use of the driers they should encourage pedicures to be done first so there is more time for the nails to dry naturally. Will definitely try them out again.
