This is my go-to spot for manis and pedis…read more For one, there's no fume cloud of nail polish and acetone that assault your nostrils as soon as you enter. The owners of Karma built their business on the novel idea of creating a space that was safe for pregnant women, children, and those sensitive to allergies by using polishes and removers that didn't have traditional salon chemicals. To be fair, I have no idea what makes up their nail polishes, but I appreciate how it always smells like faint lavender instead of polishes whenever I come. Appointments are highly recommended, and I've never had to wait long before I was seen. I've now visited a fair number of times and noticed that the quality of the job really depends on who's doing it. One woman is painstaking and focused, creating beautifully shaped nails. Another woman seemed to work fast, which made for one irregularly shaped nail and polish that didn't quite make it to the nail bed. But the service is always friendly, and the vibes are always calm and quiet. On my first visit, I was given a discount card for a return visit, which was a nice touch. You won't find the fancy frills like massage chairs and jacuzzi tubs for pedicures, but a basic mani pedi service is $55, which I deem fair, especially considering I never have to endure a post-spa headache from breathing in fumes.. Finding parking can be a beast of a job in this area. It's paid street parking only (through the ParkMobile app), and spots can be limited depending on the time of day because of how many businesses are in the area. You might have to circle a few times, but I've since learned to include at least a five to ten minute time cushion when booking appointments just to look for parking.

I waited 20 minutes for my service to start and then in between a pedicure and manicure I was made to wait twice...10 mints each time so she could finish someone else up. It took an hour and 45 minutes to do a regular manicure and pedicure. And they don't answer their phones frequently. So changing an appointment can be hard.

I had a gap period since my last visit, because during COVID they jacked the prices up and the…read moreservice wasn't quite worth the cost. But time came, present day, and I needed the convenience of location so I booked an appointment, which can now only be done online. I booked an appt with Etelvina for Mani and Callus Pedi. I arrived at my appt and was escorted to the back where I recognized no one. The young woman asked a lady at one of the pedi bowls to take me, I quickly let her know I have an appt with Etelvina and it was at that moment she says, "management changed and they are no longer with them." I asked, "when did that happen," woman replies, "yesterday." GTFOH -- I told her, Nobody called to inform me (the customer) that this occurred and give me the option of cancelling or keeping the appt. If I wasnt in such dire need I would have left, which I ended up doing when it came time for the manicure. I was sat at a table with a tray of used tools and nail dust all over. When the woman proceeded to use them of me, abruptly I asked "are those sanitized!" She looked at me like she didn't understand what I was saying; in Korean they must of said something because the front desk lady came over and tried to convince me they were sanitized. Yeah no...I don't think so. They make you keep a mask on, but will use dirty tools used on everybody. Not I. Today was my last visit, emergency or other. Plus when I paid they didn't even have the credit card machine working...Venmo, Zelle or cash (thank god I had cash, which I hardly ever carry).

I thought this manicure might not be the best because the nail tech that did my nails did not use the usually "first step" of a gel manicure which is the "activator" - so all my gel nail polish began to peel and chip four days in. Today should have been day 7, and all of my gel nail polish has peeled right off! WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. Not to mention, my pedicure was a joke for $27, my cuticles are BARELY cut & I haven't gotten a pedicure since before the pandemic. 0/10 - would not recommend!

And the owner Kelly had set me up with an appointment, checked my temperature. I had gotten a pedi and dip powder with tips, and to soak off my acrylics, which all together was 110 dollars and sitting in the salon for 5 hours for dip and powder is crazy . I understand times are tough, but 20 dollars for soaking off acrylics was a little pricey, after a week my nails chipped and wanted to get them re done, I was told by the nail technician it would last 3-4 weeks, but only a week later and they are cracking? Plus being told it's a "new product" they are doing, shouldn't you all be giving discounts if it's "new technique"? I tried making an appointment a day before thanksgiving and was told I couldn't get in. So I went back to my OG spot. Like I say, COVID safe with procedures, clean, but only 2 people working.. they get 3 stars for the cleanliness, but the dip and the pedicure and the prices were mediocre. Joan does the best set of UV gels ever. The light pink color of the gel is so perfect that I don't even get any polish on them.
